I’ve been dealing with this guy for about a year. He’s very good looking. I know they we’re other men I didn’t really care. He strung me along and was happy to do it. He liked to make me angry or upset. It was a game to him. He also knows I’ve been struggling with depression and anxiety so I didn’t understand why he enjoyed treating me like that. He’s an Ivy League educated psychiatrist. No he was never my doctor, thank god. He also has a great salary but lives in Brooklyn and had to borrow money from me. I just don’t understand any of it. He doesn’t make sense. Our relationship makes no sense. I have never made any sense
Do some doctors tend to be be cruel sociopaths in their personal lives?

Does he suggest breaking the cave-trapped Thai kids’ arms for ease of escape?

They think they’re god.

You're a poor soul who doesn't know bad news when he sees him?! All the clues are there by now. GET RID OF HIM!!

Surgeons and psychiatrists are more likely to be empathy limited. In my experience at my Ivy League medical school, half of the psychiatrists were wonderful and kind people, and the other half were sociopaths and narcissists who enjoyed having control over others. Pretty literally a crap shoot. If he seems empathy deprived get away ASAP. It won’t get any better.

How baffling.

Just Practical @R3 Oh he’s out. I just expected better from a doctor especially a psychiatrist. I would hate to be a patient of his.

My dad was a doctor. He was a total psycho nutcase.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 7, 2018 2:47 AM |
As r7 said, it’s a crap shoot. I’ve dated two surgeons, one was a cold, manipulative bastard with a god complex who was always evaluating how best to get his own way, the other was a sweetheart but tended to see patients as a collection of systems rather than human beings.

Is it possible that you're quite amusing when you get overexcited?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 7, 2018 3:11 AM |
I’ve been told I’m hysterically funny when upset @R13 I just expected him to be kinder due to his profession

My father-in-law is an anesthesiologist he said Doctors are the most fucked up people. He is an alcoholic. He knows from personal experience. Sad.

The whole medical establishment is based on cruelty and demeaning patients. Historically, patients have had to fight the medical system to get them to provide pain relief, especially for women and children, the people (historically male) doctors hate the most.
Infants used to be operated on without anaesthesia until a housewife found out that was happening to her baby and made a public stink about it on a call-in radio show and got the public to join her campaign (they gave the baby a paralytic to keep it still while they did surgery). The infant circumcision issue is related to this.
Medical schools have never included education on pain management. It is up to the doctor to provide what he thinks is necessary, which gives free rein to these sociopathic doctors. Studies show that women and blacks get less pain relief than white males in the ER.

Not some doctors only psychiatrists and psychologists. Their kids are the most damaged people.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 7, 2018 3:50 AM |
Yep, people are attracted to that field tend to be pretty damaged themselves r17.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 7, 2018 3:55 AM |
Very sad. The whole experience had made me see psychiatrists in a new light. I don’t think I will ever fully trust one again @R18

Shit I'm already 2 years in. I don't want to become dAmAgEd.

Speaking of wayward psychiatrists, has there been any followup on UCSF psychiatrist (and Blue Kennedy boyfriend) Billy Lockhart?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 7, 2018 5:23 PM |
Shit. SOME doctors of various fields of expertise tend to be full-on sociopaths in their PROFESSIONAL lives!

^Me again. I remember when I was eight years old. I had been swimming at the local community pool. I swam to the side of the pool, and rested by chin on the surface of the "gutter" - where water overflow was caught and retained. Unfortunately, I brought my chin down an exposed piece of metal which sliced my chin open right at the bottom, requiring stitches. Here's my story:
My Mother took me to the clinic for care, they said I needed stitches, and proceeded to wrap me in some sort of harness which kept my arms to my sides, and my legs together - I was wrapped up just like a mummy so utterly and completely defenseless. I'm on the table and the only part of my body exposed is my face. I'm looking up at the doctor in his eyes as he's looking down at me in my eyes. He actually waits until I exhale to bring his big, wash cloth covered hand down on my face HARD and FIRM cutting both air to my mouth and my nose - and he SMILED as he did it. I struggled like mad for being suffocated as he performed the procedure. I was almost passed out when he finally lifted his hand and I could breathe. Again, he waited until I exhaled and smiled down at me as he did his thing. I had absolutely no idea in my eight year old head what was about to go down. FUCKER!

A friend of mine, a GP, told me once, if you want to marry an asshole, marry a surgeon... you want to marry a crazy person, marry a shrink.

What's the difference between God and a doctor?
God doesn't think he's a doctor.

Psychiatrists are scary. I have a frenemy whose father was an esteemed psychiatrist. Frenemy is absolutely wrecked emotionally. Jesus God, there are few people I know, walking free, who are as fucked up as that woman.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | July 9, 2018 3:03 AM |
What frenemy, R27?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | July 9, 2018 3:14 AM |
Why frenemy, R27?

You sound absolutely exhausting, OP. This man also sounds like a fake Dr. You were meant for each other, clearly.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | July 9, 2018 3:20 AM |
Exhausting, how? Yes he’s a real dr with real patients @R30
