Were there any other working Latino child actors in the 60s & 70s? It's always intrigued me that he was cast for the part and neither his parents, nor employers chose to change his surname.
Such a crush on Bill Bixby!

I used to always get Bill Bixby confused with Bill Cosby.

How are you still alive, R2?

They did change his nam OP, as he was born Brandon Williams. I see no ties to Latin America in the bios I have read. He doesn't look Latino either. He could possibly have some Spanish ancestry somewhere perhaps, but surmising "Latino" from Cruz is a bit of a stretch even if it was his real name.

Jeez Bill Bixby, another person who was famous and had an adventurous life turned into YouTube tragic figure fodder.

R4, I know IMDB says he was born "Williams," but Wikipedia insists he was born "Cruz." Who are we to believe?

Goddammit I give you something to believe R6. Mr. Eddie and Mr. Eddie’s Father were just a bunch assholes! Never gave a good goddamn about me. You know how hard it is to clean Bill Bixby’s long black hairs off a toilet while wearing a motherfuckin’ bathrobe?

He gives his ethnicity as White-American, and that is what he has always looked like IMHO. He looks like many Irish & Welsh I know with the surname Williams. I remember him from his Punk Rock days, very cool and kind person is all I can add for sure.

He always says that Bill Bixby hung around him all the time and when the show was finished, he'd invite him over to his beach house and teach him how to swim and body surf and was a second father to him.
Sound pretty weird to me.

God, it's so good to have Miyoshi Umeki back in fine form!

Bill Bixby could have gotten weird with me back in the day. He was as sexy as a man can be.

Bixby's head was huge. He looked like he was 5'10" and five of those feet were his head.

I like when Brandon Cruz said (regarding "...Eddie..."), the setup was the only thing realistic about the show.
Meaning having a widowed father and son, everything else, the maid, the fancy clothes the wacky neighbors was not realistic.

I was the only REAL EDDIE

Here's an interview he did. It confirms he was born Brandon Cruz. Bakersfield at that time had a significant latino population. He looks very Mexican, especially in the eyes. Someone with that look is affectionately referred to as, "el Chino."

G-d is R16 possibly obsessed just a bit? Perhaps he is the OP... Firstly, nothing in the article says he's of Mexican heritage, secondly, "Chino eyes" refers to an almond or Chinese appearing eye, not a "Mexican looking eye". I'm not at all accusing you of being racist, however your obsession coupled with using terms improperly may come across to others as such. For the record, as a Spanish speaking foreigner myself, I'd like to share how many "white" Spaniards I know who are easily offended when they come to the states and are labeled or taken for "Latinos". Many people from Spain, former colonies, and island nations consider themselves Europeans, and white. A Spanish name does not necessarily indicate someone has any connection to Latin America, or indigenous cultures of that geographical location. It is better and more acceptable to use the term Hispanic, as that is indicative of a shared Spanish-speaking culture and can include those (all really) with Spanish surnames regardless of ethnicity or descent. For all we know really, Cruz could very possibly be Jewish, Sephardic, or Ashkenazi, and I believe his wife to be Jewish as well.

Joder! Coje pausa mi pana. De que demonios estas hablando, payaso?
If you're spanish speaking, how is it you've never seen entertainment segments referring to Brandon's Mexican heritage on spanish language tv? My terminology is correct.
I've travelled and lived in spanish speaking countries in Europe, Africa and Latin America. "Chino" is indeed a term used in Mexico to refer to someone whose eyes are shaped like Brandon's. Growing up, ABC News Correspondent, John Quinones, 5th generation Mexican/ American was called, "el Chino" by his playmates.

I don't watch much Spanish programming R18. Not much TV in general anymore. That's great he is indeed of Mexican heritage; I just didn't think it fair for anyone to go on that assumption. I still stand by Chino eyes referring to Chinese-Chino. Quinones has Chinese eyes too, Claro que si! No soy un payaso, solo trato de ser imparcial. Buenos Noches amigo.
