I think she REALLY wants to rip on Carole for acting like she's so young, and dressing the way she does, but I honestly think she's holding back. I can see it in her face. Like, the words want to just fly out of her mouth, but she's restraining herself.

I hated Sonja's argument that you should pretty much put up with anything from a 'friend' because 'you know what you're getting into'. Good for Carole for growing a bit of backbone and seeing she had options - I can just imagine they're friendship being the 'Bethenny Show' and when people say that Carole isn't being supportive to Bethenny's issues now, we have to remember that she's probably been supporting Bethenny throughout their friendship, and now she's on the receiving end of Bethenny's vindicitveness - sometimes you just stop caring and turn your feelings completely off. I've been in a similar-ish friendship, without the vindictiveness but definitely with the one-sided narcissism, and at some point you do just stop caring and then you know you're over it.

I think Sonja's 'she's your friend so suck it up' position was far more to do with her being 'friends' with Bethenny after the way she treated her (also same with Luann) than about Carole, who has managed to distance herself. Some friendships just aren't healthy.

Behtenny's attack on Luann was so awful and there didn't seem to be any repercussions for it. I feel like she's such a bad role model for her daughter, her values are so distorted. Her rampant materialism is the least of it.

I feel like the fourth wall is breaking down a bit with this season - the pretense that they'd be spending any time together if they weren't contractually bound to do it is falling away just a little bit. I love the fact that other women were pretending they were all going away on a holiday while Ramona was grumbling that she left an actual holiday with her 'girlfriends', early in order to come and do this (work), while Bethenny couldn't have made it clearer that she was only there because she had to be and ended up begging someone on the phone (the producers?) to leave because she couldn't stand it. I suppose the interesting thing is that they left these bits in, so the 'stars' resentment of the job that they are being paid to do on the show is now sort of becoming part of the storyline. r523, I actually think NY was the only one left that actually seemed like these women would spend time together/enjoyed each other. But I agree that it's pretty much over now. The fourth wall has basically been shattered on other franchises like ATL and BH.

But Sonja and LuAnn spent a lot of off-camera time together in late winter and spring--mostly traveling to spas and yoga centers, but it wasn't for the show. And Carole, Tinsley and the ersatz boyfriends traveled to Europe together not too long ago (maybe Portugal? Can't remember)--not for the show. Ramona's winter trip to Marrakech was with a large group of women and was focused on cheering up Jill Z after Bawby's funeral. So some of them do hang out in the off-season. Not Bethenny, though.

I don't really watch the other franchises R525, but I think it's interesting how this is being integrated into the show as part of the drama - it sounds like in other franchises they haven't been able to avoid it. I feel like it's part of the evolution of these shows maybe, which is in-keeping with the audience desire to watch these women suffer emotionally.

I'm not exempting myself from that by the way, I wonder if part of the enjoyment is in seeing an idea of 'natural justice' play out - I have almost no sympathy for Bethenny because she is the villain whose past deeds are coming back to haunt her, while the somewhat skewed morailty of the shows at least offer the promise that if someone does something 'wrong' (betrays their best friend, spread lies etc.) then there will be repercussions (eg the very performative 'court' of the reunion show). Often this goes awry, with bullying and factions offering different rules for some than for others, but even then there is a promise of justice later down the line, such as in Bethenny's case when a few seasons of bad behaviour have turned everyone against her.

Actually, I've only just realised, that cheap and trashy as these shows are they are constructed around a very traditional principle of morality and justice - not that it always works out that way though. I wonder if anyone has ever analyzed how ideas of 'morality' play out in these shows? I often notice that the women use very clear ideas of what is moral/immoral but they can also be highly contradictory and/or not actually borne out by reality.

In terms of being contradictory Bethenny (again, she is such a good example) represents herself as a hypersexual barbie-type but also calls Luann a 'slut', while also seeming to disapprove of Kelly's disinclination for one-night stands,while Kelly herself called Bethenny a 'ho-bag' (which is disgusting obviously). There seems to be much contested terrain around sexuality but 'mothering' is held up to be an unalienable good, and a significant part of these women's identity, despite the fact that a lot of them actually seem to be bad/absent mothers anyway. This is separate from the 'morality' of the show itself - which is more about villains/good friend/bad friend/betrayal/comeuppance/the reunion court of justice with Andy as the judge.

Yeah true R256, I suppose I was meaning that they wouldn't hang out altogether as a group like that and that (like it or not) it was clear that it was being regarded as 'work' by Ramon and Bethenny at least. But yeah, some definitely are friends.

These gals with the exception of Carole and B all run in the same circles. B even lived on the upper East Side for the first couple of seasons. Ramona, Sonja, Jill and Lu were all friends, frenemies or acquainted. Some are still friends, they're the most closely related of all the shows.

I do agree that literally no-one seemed to care about her which is probably partly a testament to their selfishness and a lot to do with how awful and dramatic she usually is. I've been home all day fighting a virus and spent it rewatching season 3. Say whatever you want about Ramona and Bethenny, Jill and LuAnn were despicable in every frame all season long.

Bethenny to a degree gets a pass from me. She's definitely crazy and out there at times. But I remember back in 2013 right after the whole Trayvon Martin case. Bethenny insinuated to. E! news that she wanted to go down to Florida and kill George Zimmerman for killing Trayvon.

She was very bold in her statement and also said that if she didn't have her own daughter and other things/reasons to live for. That there was no telling what she would go to Florida and do. She said she was shocked and discussted at the verdict of the trail.

For that reason alone I'll always have a bit of a soft spot in my heart for bethenny. Plus I admire her success and wealth she built on her own, all without a man.

Luann not being at the reunion is a real loss of fireworks. That just means Bethanny and Carole will dominate and I am not sure I can deal with that static for long periods...

That's the biggest problem with this whole season - it's hard to care about the entire "Carole takes Bethenny down" theme when I have no idea when or why Carole became Bethenny's enemy.

It's like Bravo failed to air some episodes - the story arc just isn't complete.

Bethenny has been insensitive, domineering, and downright mean at times. But Carole's never been a real character apart from her role as Bethenny's sidekick.

It's also painful to watch Carole trying to remake herself as young, carefree Tinsley's best friend - and the scenes with Carole and Tinsley are painful to watch.

As nasty as Dorinda can get when she drinks (we're about to see it happen again with Lu-Man next week), I give her credit for hanging out with Bethenny during Bethenny's "nervous breakdown" and trying to comfort her.

If it were me, I'd have been a shady bitch and said, "What can I do to make you feel better? Order another nutcracker?"

Carole is not remaking herself. She has always portrayed herself as a young, dewy, ingenue about town.

I think the fallout it simple. Ultimately, Carole got sick of B's neediness and dominance. She befriended Tinsley and B got jealous and even more annoying. Tins is an airhead and easy to get along with. B not so much.

I liked boring Carole during her first couple of seasons. Delusional forever-young Carole is a tragic spectacle. Bethenny is equal parts unbearably obnoxious and blissfully truthful. I loved it when she called out Carole for using Millennial slang. Carole looks like such a fucking fool. This bitch was a peer of JFK, Jr. He would be 58 today. She’s mentally disturbed.

I like Dorinda, especially when she goes off on one of the other women (with a few drinks).. funny as hell. I like Carole.. she's interesting in her quieter, more reasonable, sane way.. compared to the other train wrecks. In the frenzy of crazy, she smooths it out a little. Ramona pisses me off, and can't stand her for the most part, but she keeps the crazy going, which makes it interesting. Sonja is just funny, crazy. I get annoyed when she and Ramona act like spoiled, entitled girls.. especially when on a trip, and they have to "stake their claim" for the best room. Luann.. she tries to act classy, but falls back to trashy behavior, which brings her down a few notches. The only one I wish would go is Tinsley. I can't stand her "little girly, girl" behavior, especially at her age (in her 40s). She comes off as the biggest phony, to me. She really is annoying.

I agree that all the women are entertaining except Tinsley. I don’t like anything about her on this show. But I also don’t like Carole anymore. Her youth obsession has become pathological. She has generation dysmorphic disorder. She’s an almost-old lady who looks in the mirror and sees a 20-something.

I still like Carole, but I agree.. her clothing style is getting ridiculous. She's not all that.. like she thinks she is..

Bethanny is good for cutting through all the bs, doesn't hold back punches when the baloney gets out of hand. She can be overly aggressive, though..and that backfires. I enjoy her solo chats into the camera, and her imitations of Ramona... lol. This season isn't one her her best. I'd like to see her stay.

Dorinda and Sonja are probably the most decent human beings out of all of the women. They can put their petty differences aside and be there for a friend. I wouldn't trust the rest because they all have an agenda. Ramona is the worst of all.

I know it's a show (reality.. yea, right), but the restaurant scenes.. where they all get into a screaming match, there are other people around. The looks on their faces are priceless. How embarrassing if that happened in real life. I think they should reserve a room, away from the other patrons.. and spare them.

R564, Ramona is wacky, but she always blurts out the truth, i.e., announcing on speakerphone that LuAnn is banging all over the Tri-State area (while she was still married to the Count and writing her etiquette book); predicting Bethenny's future on the Brooklyn Bridge (how RIGHT she was), telling Bethenny to STFU about her 2-YEAR marriage because the same thing happened to Ramona and her money after the collapse of her 30-YEAR marriage; after LuAnn's daughter broke her arm sneaking out of the house, Ramona revealed that LuAnn never spent any time with her kids as they were growing up and is still out every single night.

Ramona's always saying she's "smart," when she's the dumbest of all these women (except maybe for Tinsley).

Throughout my life, I've noticed it's the ones touting their superior intelligence who are always the most stupid.

btw, LuAnn's daughter broke BOTH arms (or wrists) sneaking out of the house.

R569.. That's like trump, always having to verbally push their "intelligence", how smart they are... when in reality, they are truly the opposite. That's narcissism, and probably a deep down insecurity, being inadequate. Truly intelligent people don't need to advertise, as it speaks for itself, and people recognize it.

The only housewives in the entire history of the franchise that I think would be able to be good long-term friends for exacting, high-maintenance Bethenny were Alex McCord, who despite being kind of inept loon is the only “lady” that has ever appeared on the show - and consistently showed herself to be a supportive and loyal friend, and Heather Thomson, who combined Bethenny’s alpha energy with Jill’s mothering-side and unlike both of them, has the capacity to be happy for other people. It should be noted Bethenny couldn’t stand both of them initially.

I would not mind a Heather return. But I also want Carole out, and I know without her, they would probably not entertain Heather again.

Tinsley can go, too. Sooner the better.

Heather is tiresome. Do not want.

I just do not want Tinsley to pull out a wedding or some other shit with Scott because that will get her another season no doubt.

Loved Tinsley last season! This season, I am 50/50.

Dorinda I think has more issues than anyone really knows. She is so down to earth for a wealthy woman. It is disarming.

Ramona is garbage. And an idiot.

Bethenny is cunning, manipulative, and damaged at her core.

Luann- She's a conundrum. And enigma. She has become the star of this show. I think she is also deeply lonely in her heart.

Sonja is a mess. I am done with her.

This season is good as the episodes always fly by, but it is very dark to me.

Honestly you’re all ragging on Carole but letting Dorinda slide with those Ceaser boots she was wearing? They’re so 10 years ago. She looked ridiculous.

Yes, Dorinda's shoes were hideous and didn't match her dress. But it's easy to overlook footwear, when you're sitting at a table or just seeing her eye-to-eye.

There was no avoiding Carole's monstrosity of a dress. That thing was HIDEOUS. From head to toe. No matter where you looked, you would be assaulted by that dress.

The funniest thing about it was that her assistant said that it came from "Beyone." Rofl. No wonder.

The only thing I wanted to know was whether it was from Beyonce's own closet, or if it was from her clothing line, the "House of Derriere."

Dorinda's shoes were simply unforgiveable--especially with that dress. She's often a pretty tacky dresser, but aren't they all?

The term jolie laide must have been invented for Dorinda. When she’s got the right outfit on (her reunion dress with the butterflies; the white jumpsuit), you can’t take your eyes off her - but it’s amazing how willing she is to appear on camera looking like an unmade bed. Bethenny has no actual taste but has wisely hired a very good stylist and her looks since she came back to the show have been unassailable. While never a beauty, five years ago Carole was the best-dressed of any of the franchises, but unfortunately, the older (and thinner) she gets the less she is able to pull off - and her dress sense gets more cringey every season. Sonja wears whatever still fits or she can get fit free. Ramona always looks like a Fox News blonde put out to pasture. Tinsley’s wardrobe is basically a testament to how weirdly infantilized she is, I also suspect her mother must have given her a complex about having a bad chest or a turkey neck, because she never shows them. Luann’s very striking - but never particularly fashionable.

Nobody is likeable this season

Bethenny is coming across terribly this season. She's done major damage to her image.

Carole has come across the best this season. She's pretty much owned Bethenny during every fight, much to the delight of the other women, who are too dim to take her on.

LuAnn and Tinsley are so pathetic and desperate to find a man. Neither one of them can survive on their own. Ramona is desperate, too, but she can at least make it on her own.

Luann's certainly great looking, but her clothes all look like they came from one of the old Frederick's of Hollywood catalogs--just cheap, polyester-sleazy looking. Ditto Ramona, with the plunging necklines and lace-up outfits--she's too old and her build is too blocky for the clothes she tries to pull off. Carole plainly believes that because she's a size 0 she can wear anything. She really shouldn't. Bethenny's fine but I agree that's garanimals dressing. Dorinda doesn't have a clue how to dress and usually looks like a character from the Sopranos (or worse, Married to the Mob)--even the butterfly dress. Sonja's worn out any decent quality clothes she had when she got divorced. She's best when she dresses simply in a skirt and sweater--in season 3 she looked terrific, and rich.

Tinsley? I can't.

There’s a bit of Pretty Woman in Luann - it’s a gum-chewing streetwalker’s take on what fancy ladies wear.

Heather may be my favorite of all the housewives of any season for her human qualities. She seems like a decent, down-to-earth person but she still has a strong personality and doesn’t take shit from people (or try to hurt people for pleasure).

That's pretty apt, R587. The fabrics are poor quality (they really are polyester or acetate) and the clothes aren't well cut--they don't fit her properly. And the colors are too garish/neon.

Other than that, though....

Dorinda looks wealthy and confident here. Very attractive.
