The Destruction Of America Brought To You By Mercers, Adelsons and Kochs

I know most here on DL don't ever read the articles at the links and instead love to start yelling or whining or bitching without informing themselves.

But this article made many things clear that I didn't know. These three families are shaping what is going on right now in our government and this article lays out how. I know it's far more popular these days to scream RUSSIA! But we don't need Russia to fuck us up, these families are doing a spectacular job without any foreign help. Makes me wonder why everyone is so quick to take the bait being forces at us in every news cycle and not hold our own countrymen responsible for bringing us to ruin.

Enjoy.

Each family is closely tied to the Republican leader of one branch of government: Robert, Diana, and Rebekah Mercer helped propel Trump’s bombastic rise to the White House. Industrialist brothers Charles and David Koch funded the Tea Party and its protege, House speaker Paul Ryan. And while casino magnate Sheldon Adelson and his wife Miriam Ochsorn are on the party’s more moderate wing, they have long stood behind the calculating, conservative Senate leader, McConnell, who even before the Tea Party’s rise was known as an extreme obstructionist (paywall), dedicated to stomping out the bipartisan compromises that historically made the US government work.

The Adelsons favor pro-Israel policies. Despite their anti-regulation stance, they are keen to squelch the growth of online gambling, and want to support moderate Republicans with a chance of picking up swing voters. The couple are the largest supporters to the “Senate Leadership Fund,” linked to Mitch McConnell, which claims it has one goal—“to protect and expand the Republican Senate Majority.”

The Koch brothers have funded and organized a vast network of libertarian think tanks and grassroots movements aimed at sowing distrust of “big government” and climate science, the better to benefit their massive fossil fuel-heavy Koch Industries. There are other Republican donors who have spent more money, but the Koch’s network gives them great influence. Despite the Koch brothers’ initial distaste for Trump, his cabinet is stacked with people they’ve funded, from CIA head Mike Pompeo to budget director Mick Mulvaney, to a host of coal-industry linked appointees.

The Mercers seem to hold the most extreme social views: Robert Mercer complained that the US started going in the wrong direction “after the passage of the Civil Rights Act in the 1960s,” according to a lawsuit filed by a former employee. He reportedly invested $10 million in 2011 into Breitbart, the news site run by one-time Trump adviser Steve Bannon, which regularly airs white-supremacist views. Early last month, Robert Mercer quit the hedge fund he worked at for years, and said he’d sold his stake in Breitbart News to his daughter, but he’s reportedly getting even deeper into politics. Who they back? A new generation of radical, race-baiting politicians, even further right than the Freedom Caucus, who seem loosely bound to the US democratic processes. In the words of an anonymous Mercer affiliate (who sounds a lot like Bannon), Mercer’s candidates want to “blow things up and start from scratch.”

Yes, OP, they are all horrible. Just read a NY times article about how the Koch Brothers were trying to crush mass transit and light rail initiatives all over the country. Of course, they have money in asphalt companies and the like.

I try to boycott Koch Brothers products, but sadly, they are everywhere. Even those damn red dixie solo cups.

I just wish for midterm elections, people really get informed and vote wisely.

by Anonymousreply 4June 30, 2018 8:36 PM

My point is to call them out. Instead of Russia we should be directing our energy at these families. Instead of invoking Trump's name we say Mercers, Koch's and Adelson's. All the talk is about Russia no one mentions these people and may I suggest, please read the article. You can see the policy being enacted is each of these families wishes. If we are going to march, then one (or all) of these names need to be on the signs, banners.

by Anonymousreply 5June 30, 2018 8:42 PM

I completely agree. These names need to be well known by voters and it needs to be everywhere.

by Anonymousreply 6June 30, 2018 8:55 PM

the media ignores these guys and covers their puppets like Ryan and Yertle.

Go to the source, already.

by Anonymousreply 7June 30, 2018 9:00 PM

A lot of independent media covers these asshole right-wing families. I think it's time individuals start doing their parts as well to help bring these billionaire monsters down.

by Anonymousreply 8June 30, 2018 9:12 PM

All of that money and daddy can't do anything about his daughter's frankenstein head.

by Anonymousreply 9June 30, 2018 9:14 PM

[quote]A lot of independent media covers these asshole right-wing families.

Yet another reason I haven't watched MSM in years. Corporate shits.

by Anonymousreply 10June 30, 2018 9:15 PM

Well I don't know that we bring them down, they own every fucking thing you can think of, but we don't know how they will react if the attention for all this heinous shit is trained on them. They are the men, wife and daughter hiding behind the curtain pulling the levers. How will they feel if instead of everywhere the Trump name appears or is spoken becomes Koch or Mercer? Would is be as easy to watch while the rest of us burn while staring right at them?

by Anonymousreply 11June 30, 2018 9:16 PM

It's not just the families, OP, it's also Russia. They aren't mutually exclusive. Remember, Russia's meddling led to WWI.

by Anonymousreply 12June 30, 2018 9:21 PM

If you READ THE ARTICLE you will see everyone of the policies held dear by these families active right now in Trump's actions. I don't give a flying fuck about Russia. Why? Because these American traitors are killing us without the help of the Russians. We have Oligarchs here destroying this country with the colleges, universities, politicians, civic leaders, religious leaders, mass media they have bought to destroy the American Constitution. You want stare at Russia, go ahead. I'm keeping my eye on these cocksuckers.

by Anonymousreply 13June 30, 2018 9:37 PM

Don't leave out the Murdochs.

Rupert Murdoch is as to blame as any of the others. He owns and runs FOX News, after all.

by Anonymousreply 14June 30, 2018 9:40 PM

You can't call these people anything but evil - that isn't hyperbole. And I'll throw in the Prince Family, too.

All of these people with an immense amount of wealthy which they and their heirs couldn't spend in 200 years, are doing everything to take away the pittance that most people have, to destroy nations, to destroy people all over the world.

Fucking sick savages and terrorists - the lot of them.

by Anonymousreply 15June 30, 2018 9:53 PM

It's this quote that really killed me.

What unites the three families is a “feeling of grievance, which is ironic because they have all done well, financially,” noted Green, the University of Nevada professor. “Its hard to figure out exactly what they have great reason to be upset about, other than not having done even better financially.”

They have a feeling grievance? What the fuck? These people are insane.

by Anonymousreply 16June 30, 2018 10:05 PM

[quote]“Its hard to figure out exactly what they have great reason to be upset about, other than not having done even better financially.”

True story, Word of Honor:

Joseph Heller, an important and funny writer

now dead,

and I were at a party given by a billionaire

on Shelter Island.

I said, "Joe, how does it make you feel to know that our host only yesterday

may have made more money

than your novel 'Catch-22'

has earned in its entire history?"

And Joe said, "I've got something he can never have."

And I said, "What on earth could that be, Joe?"

And Joe said, "The knowledge that I've got enough."

-Kurt Vonnegut

It will never be enough to just vote the GOP out.

We need to oust the Mercers, Adelsons, Kochs, and Murdochs. Take them out. Cut them out like the cancer they are. Nothing will ever get fixed until they are made to pay such a high price for their mendacity and corruption and greed that nobody else ever feels tempted to try the same.

by Anonymousreply 18July 1, 2018 1:36 AM

It's probably quite impossibe, but not buying their products may be a start. At least, paper products maybe, the Koch brothers just have too damn much.

David Koch is ill and has stepped down from his position, so I'm guessing it's terminal. He's 78. Charles Koch is actually older at 83 years old. They are pumping as fast as they can, but they both have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. Robert Mercer is certifiably insane, but he's only 71. Our best revenge will be to outlive them.....

by Anonymousreply 20July 1, 2018 1:50 AM

it doesn't matter if they die. their foundations and stink tanks go on carrying out the agenda.

by Anonymousreply 21July 1, 2018 2:41 AM

We can't discuss this subject because OP refuses to admit the Russians helped make this possible.

by Anonymousreply 22July 1, 2018 2:41 AM

[quote]We need to oust the Mercers, Adelsons, Kochs, and Murdochs.

We need a storming of the Bastille-type situation, but we have a poisonous MSM that assists these scumbags.

by Anonymousreply 23July 1, 2018 2:44 AM

r20 waiting to outlive Mercer is not a good plan. Robert Mercer supports White supremacists and racists. He has been quoted as saying that the Civil Right Act of 1964 was one of the worst things to happen in this country. He is all right with total destruction of society so that it can be rebuilt from scratch. It's all in the linked article at that start of the thread. All this Nazi shit and racist shit is his influence.

by Anonymousreply 24July 1, 2018 4:15 AM

We're doomed.

by Anonymousreply 25July 3, 2018 5:33 AM

R25 You are because that's you're mindset.

by Anonymousreply 26July 3, 2018 5:44 AM

No, R26. God, that was a stupid reply. Do you believe in healing crystals too?

by Anonymousreply 27July 3, 2018 5:51 AM

Look R27, I'm with R26. We give into the fear these Nazis engender or we say fuck no. These freaks want to kill us.

by Anonymousreply 28July 3, 2018 6:05 AM

It's not fear to acknowledge the fact that we're fucked. The Supreme Court is lost. Russian and the GOP are conspiring to steal 2018. Democrats are out of power nearly everywhere. ALL of the Media, with only a few tiny exceptions, is complicit and covering for the fascist coup we're undergoing. And too many Americans are too fucking stupid to organize and unite to fight it. The far left is more divisive than ever, basically doing the GOP's work for them.

This country is over. The experiment failed. We're already in World War 3, and we're currently in a cold civil war here at home. The shooting is going to come sooner or later. We're already building fucking concentration camps for chrissakes.

Taking the Senate looks to be near impossible (kiss the Supreme Court and thus ALL progressive ideals goodbye for a generation or more), and even trying to take the House is at best 50/50 right now. Free and fair elections are already gone (nobody sane thinks 2016 was free and fair, and 2018 is only going to be worse).

There is literally nothing that will stop this or fix it. Wishful thinking and peacefully marching in protests isn't doing a damn thing to actually change or fix anything. Fully one in three Americans are so brainwashed they believe the exact opposite of the Truth, and cannot be swayed by any fact. And Trump's approval ratings have been inching UPWARDS.

If you think we're not doomed, you're in denial. This is the end of America as we knew it. Things are going to get a WHOLE lot darker before any light returns, and I'll be long gone by then.
