and other 'feminine' mug-cradling / frau words that get over used.
"Conversation" "Narrative"......

"Voice"
As in "women's voices, POC voices, WOC voices, queer voices."
It's such a hedge. Please say what you mean -- "Women's opinions." Or better yet, just "women."
Not "We need to hear more women's voices" but "We need to hear from more women."
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 17, 2019 8:24 PM |
"Clinician" - meaning psychologist, therapist, or counselor. When they use the word about themselves, it just sounds so pompous.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 17, 2019 8:33 PM |
Journey. Instead of life. "Her journey was plagued with setbacks"
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 17, 2019 8:36 PM |
And yes OP, "narrative" wins the prize. I fucking hate hearing it from the mouths of two bit actors, especially. That's the first vocabulary word they learn when they land at LAX to start their "journeys".
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 17, 2019 8:38 PM |
I have complained about this elsewhere on DL, but the word "space."
*two fraus walk into a room*
"I love what you've done with this space!"
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 17, 2019 8:39 PM |
I was gaslit by a narcissist.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | February 17, 2019 8:42 PM |
It's problematic that women's voices are not allowed a space in which to initiate a conversation regarding the narrative of their journey.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 17, 2019 8:42 PM |
Ugh, R18, I can imagine that actually being said. And can hear the exact voice in my head.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 17, 2019 8:45 PM |
Shamed. During the teens and twenties it's "slut shamed ". Later on its "mommy shamed ". And the phrased is usually used by women who are rarely criticized by American society.

R19. I can hear it as the opening line on NPR as Terri Gross introduces some new frau- author and her riveting new title "Missives From My Womb -- Still Births, Abortia and HPV".

Will there be lots of sammies with extra veggies snuck into them served at this "space" for hearing women voices?
by Anonymous | reply 22 | February 17, 2019 10:06 PM |
"Socializing". I've been seeing that used by a project manager (barf) in my department lately, using it to mean sharing data with people and getting their feedback...I think.

Does the average POC or WOCs actually like being called POC and WOC ? POC sounds like a disease and WOC like an Asian kitchen accessory .

Woke!
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 17, 2019 10:26 PM |
"Your truth"
Referring to God as a higher power or saying you are "spiritual", most times this is a synonym for "I believe in God but I'm not religious in any way".
Feeling the need to constantly and unnecessarily respond with words like "cool" as people talk.

R17 I've been trying to find a concrete definition/examples of gas lighting behavior for so long, but it seems to be used interchangeably for anyone who makes someone else feel hurt.
The narcissistic abuse community is one big cluster fuck of women and men who only want to wallow in their traumas (perceived or otherwise).

This one hates the term. What's worse is "black/brown bodies" - verbiage that sounds more appropriate when describing a murder or disaster scene. Ugh.
