Someone upthread nailed it. The industry does not like men who come off as weak. He let Swift lead him around by the nose for a few months and after it was over he has been in shame/depression mode for a couple of years about it. I liked the photoshoot he did in boxers too, but he came off like he was trying to look like Michael Fassbender.

There's a weird disconnect between his unique looks and ability, and his tendency to mimic or latch on to other stars instead of allowing himself to be unique.
