Roseanne Barr: "I've lost everything"

Roseanne Barr broke down in tears during a podcast interview posted on Saturday, as she apologized for her racist tweet that resulted in the cancellation of her hit television show, Roseanne.

Calling in to Rabbi Shmuley Boteach's podcast, the 65-year-old comedian reflected on her Jewish values and expressed deep remorse over her damaging social media post regarding former Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett.

“God, it’s really hard to say all of this,” Barr started.. “I didn’t mean what they think I meant, and that’s what’s so painful. But I have to face that this hurt people -- and when you hurt people, even unwittingly, there’s no excuse, so I don’t want to blabber off on excuses. I apologize to anyone who felt offended and thought that I meant something that I, in fact, did not mean to my own ignorance.”

The former Roseanne star stated that she definitely feels "remorse" for her post that likened Jarrett to a child of “Muslim brotherhood” and “Planet of the Apes,” before audibly breaking down in tears. She also said she didn't know Jarrett was a black woman.

“I’m a lot of things. I’m a loudmouth and all that stuff, but I’m not stupid, for God’s sake," she stressed. "I never would have wittingly called any black person… say they are a monkey. I never would do that! And I didn’t do that."

Barr continued, “And if people think that I did that, it just kills me. I didn’t do that, although they think I did. And if they do think that, I am so sorry that I... you know, it was so unclear and stupid. I’m very sorry but I don’t think that, I never would do that. I have loved ones who are African-American. I just can't stand it. I've made a huge error.”

The Emmy winner added that her actions have made herself "a hate magnet."

"I have to say what was in my mind and what I meant from what I did. I can't let other people define me and project their stuff onto me. Now they're just changing the words of what I said totally, it's so painful," she told Boteach. "I have black children in my family. I can't let 'em say these things about me after 30 years of my putting my family and my health and my livelihood at risk to stand up for people."

Barr revealed once again that the upsetting tweet was posted in the early hour of 2 a.m. while she was on Ambien, admitting that while it's "no excuse," she was indeed “impaired.”

The host then asked Barr if she still regrets her actions, to which she didn't hesitate.

“Of course, no, I don’t excuse it," she replied. "I horribly regret it, are you kidding? I’ve lost everything. And I regretted it before I lost everything, and I said to God, ‘I am willing to accept whatever consequences this brings because I know I’ve done wrong.’ I’m willing to accept what the consequences are. And, I do. And I have.”

Barr's apology comes a few weeks after she was fired by ABC on May 29, resulting in the immediate cancellation of her successful '90s sitcom reboot, which premiered in March to record ratings. The network later announced a spinoff dubbed The Conners, starring the remainder of the original cast, set to hit this fall.

That is to say, except her enormous fortune.

I don't know how anyone can "misinterpret" her saying that a black person is from the "Planet of the Apes."

She's fucking ridiculous, and a liar.

by Anonymousreply 2June 24, 2018 9:47 PM

Peter Fonda, Samantha Bee, and Joy Reid weep for her.

by Anonymousreply 3June 24, 2018 9:50 PM

She wouldn’t be apologizing if she hadn’t lost her show and realized nobody needs her

by Anonymousreply 4June 24, 2018 9:51 PM

I smell a GIANT crock of shit. She didn't know Valerie Jarrett was African-American? Really? Was she living in a cave or a hole? AS R4 said, this is just a blatant attempt to rescue what little of a career she may have left. She's a cunt.

by Anonymousreply 5June 24, 2018 9:52 PM

I just looked up the original tweet that got her fired. Why was she randomly insulting Valerie Jarett?! Obama’s been out of office for how long?

Also, I never watched the show but wow, I would not have recognized Roseanne. She looks completely different than I remembered from her Tom Arnold days. I mean, she actually looks more attractive and less squintyeyed than I remember. Weird.

by Anonymousreply 6June 24, 2018 9:55 PM

The sad thing is that in a few years, Hollywood will forgive her.

Especially if her "comeback" will make everyone a shit ton of money.

They really don't care about principles, where money is concerned.

I guarantee she'll be back. But for the time being, she has to suck it up, like Mel Gibson did.

by Anonymousreply 7June 24, 2018 9:56 PM

She hasn’t lost enough. Her Twitter feed proves it daily.

by Anonymousreply 8June 24, 2018 9:56 PM

And yeah, she knew EXACTLY what she was saying with a Planet of the Apes reference. Ambien makes you you sleepy not stupid.

by Anonymousreply 9June 24, 2018 9:57 PM

[quote] Why was she randomly insulting Valerie Jarett?! Obama’s been out of office for how long?

Are you kidding? Valerie Jarrett, Obama, Hillary Clinton... they're all DEPLORABLE 'RED MEAT.'

You get bonus points if you can hurl some racist or misogynistic slur at them, as well.

She knew what she was doing. It's straight out of the DEPLORABLE handbook.

by Anonymousreply 10June 24, 2018 9:58 PM

She said the Planet of the Apes reference wasn't racist because she didn't know that Valerie Jarrett was black.

by Anonymousreply 11June 24, 2018 9:58 PM

She did this in 2013 too.

Roseanne also doesn’t know that water is wet.

by Anonymousreply 13June 24, 2018 10:01 PM

What ELSE could the "Planet of the Apes" reference have possibly mean, then?

Did she explain that? She was going strictly based on looks.

by Anonymousreply 14June 24, 2018 10:01 PM

Barr's message: "I'm the real victim here". She will never learn... Like her idol Trump, Barr views herself as a deity who can do no wrong. Despite earning a huge salary for years & residuals, Barr 's money will run out, she has three ex-husbands & I'm sure she supports her five children & boyfriend.

by Anonymousreply 15June 24, 2018 10:03 PM

I have a pretty good imagination and I've tried and tried but can't figure out one other thing she could have meant with the Planet of the Apes comment. I thought "Muslim Brotherhood" want to destroy America and the Statue of Liberty scene from Planet of the Apes shows that but that has nothing to do with Jarrett. It's very telling that she doesn't explain what she DID mean.

by Anonymousreply 16June 24, 2018 10:03 PM

She had tweeted way worse than this over the years... don't be fooled by her tears over this one bad tweet that "ruined" her. She was lucky people overlooked her old social media posts and gave her a chance at a glorious comeback. Yet, she ruined it all with another tweet.

by Anonymousreply 17June 24, 2018 10:04 PM

So she knew enough about the BO administration to know who VJ was but not her ethnicity. Sure.

by Anonymousreply 18June 24, 2018 10:07 PM

This is what she claims she was saying by the post. According to her, it had nothing to do with racism. Although, that Susan Rice post has yet to be mentioned. This was after the Ambien defense.

by Anonymousreply 20June 24, 2018 10:14 PM

My heart bleeds for this toxic piece of human garbage. I hope she is shamed for her support of Trump for the rest of her hopefully miserable life.

by Anonymousreply 21June 24, 2018 10:15 PM

Exactly right R9- you day precisely what you MEAN on Ambien. Tweeting on it is the equivalent of drunk dialing

by Anonymousreply 22June 24, 2018 10:18 PM

The “lady” doth protest too much

by Anonymousreply 23June 24, 2018 10:21 PM

It’s sort of funny to see both Roseanne crying that she’s lost everything, and ABC scrambling to keep her show going without her, when up until three months ago “Roseanne” had been dead and gone for twenty years. It’s not like it’s a massive adjustment to any of these people to live without it.

by Anonymousreply 24June 24, 2018 10:23 PM

She's full of shit. She thought she was on an "I can do no wrong roll" with the success of her "deplorable baiting" re-boot of "Roseanne" that frankly was losing steam, not being all that Trumpish. But she wasn't, over-playing her loud-mouthed, take it to the bank hand. It got slapped. Hard. Now she's "sorry."

But mark my words, if "The Connors" is even moderately successful, in a season or two, ABC will bring her she'll back for a quick apology tour and another ratings bonanza. Maybe this time she'll keep her trap shut and just revel in what fools people are. Doubtful.

by Anonymousreply 25June 24, 2018 10:28 PM

[quote]She said the Planet of the Apes reference wasn't racist because she didn't know that Valerie Jarrett was black.

I said it in another thread and I'll say it again, because the media will never actually do its job on this one:

Roseanne is a typical Zionist/Supremacist Ashkenazi Jew like Ben Shapiro and Pamela Geller and Laura Loomis and all of the rest of these assholes who think because they're Jewish, they can get away with being racist towards Arabs (and clearly they have been allowed to because it's a permissible form of racism in this society). She thought Jarrett was Arab and that's why she thought she could get away with being repulsive (since she's already gotten away with that form of racism for years) and had she made that clear when she made the "ape" comment, she'd still be on her show.

by Anonymousreply 26June 24, 2018 10:31 PM

I do feel kind of bad for her because I think she's genuinely mentally ill, but words have consequences and I'm glad to see corporations firing high profile people for this kind of shit. I'm guessing it wasn't a principled stance, but rather they were tired of her shit and glad to be rid of her but even when the president acts like a hateful bigot, I'm glad to see the ax fall when even the high & mighty go too far.

by Anonymousreply 27June 24, 2018 10:33 PM

[quote] if "The Connors" is even moderately successful, in a season or two, ABC will bring her she'll back for a quick apology tour and another ratings bonanza

I never considered that, but you're right.

It would be a win-win for the cast, ABC, and Roseanne.

Those fuckers.

by Anonymousreply 28June 24, 2018 10:35 PM

Womp, womp.

by Anonymousreply 29June 24, 2018 10:36 PM

She's always sorry, and then she turns around and does the same damn thing again. She's just a toxic person, period.

by Anonymousreply 30June 24, 2018 10:36 PM

R11even if she didn't know, it was an insult to the Obama administration, who she worked for

by Anonymousreply 31June 24, 2018 10:37 PM

Even though she has announced that she suffers from mental illness, has everyone decided to ignore that and treat her like a rational, healthy person?

She's sick. The end.

by Anonymousreply 32June 24, 2018 10:41 PM

I would respect her more if she would embrace what she said, instead of groveling hat-in-hand and trying to erase-erase.

None of this would have happened if they hadn't inexplicably rebooted that old TV show of hers. If it was filmed in Smell-o-Vision it would smell like farts, Cheetos and boogers.

by Anonymousreply 33June 24, 2018 10:42 PM

They'll bring her back after an apology tour? Hahahah! Oh my aching sides! This little stunt of hers cost them around a billion dollars in ad revenue. She will never be forgiven. Ever.

by Anonymousreply 34June 24, 2018 10:55 PM

Is it really an apology when you add qualifiers like “you felt” “you thought”, etc?

by Anonymousreply 35June 24, 2018 10:59 PM

No, R35, "I'm sorry they didn't understand what I really meant" is not an apology.

She's not coming back, R34 is right. It's not as if she has friends in the business who'd cut her a break. She is loathed.

by Anonymousreply 36June 24, 2018 11:02 PM

Roseanne’s character will be dead. There isn’t another plausible way to write her out. It was even accidentally set up by the last couple of episodes. So she’s not going to be coming back in a year.

As much as I'd like it to be true, R15, Roseanne won't go broke. Her money is most likely being managed, and invested in bonds and securities. She lives off the income it produces and has trust funds for children/bf. NO one lives off their capital.

by Anonymousreply 41June 24, 2018 11:50 PM

She's being gaslighted. Barr has been used as a media asset for decades. That's why she's never completely went away. Her mental illness, which has been well documented, goes back to her childhood, hence the brain fog and confusion. It's very easy to manipulate/ program someone who is mentally fragile. The tactic is used in entertainment, religion, politics & the military. Britney Spears is another example of an empty vessel that is no better than a puppet.

Google "Dr. Donald Ewen Cameron" for a good read.

She knows she’s playing to the cheap seats, but it would be lovely if she started to believe her own tales of victimization and - in the true spirit of “I'll show ‘em, then they’ll be sorry” - she hanged herself.

by Anonymousreply 47June 25, 2018 12:57 AM

I never gave it much thought before, but this really has been Roseanne's standard line for the past 20+ years.

"It wasn't me!!!"

Well, now that people are calling bullshit, I hope she just crawls back under her rock, and never comes back.

The world has had enough of Roseanne Barr. We're done.

by Anonymousreply 48June 25, 2018 12:58 AM

The only way to truly punish the filthy rich is to take away all their money. Leave them with nothing, not as much as a piece of gold jewelry or anything they can sell for money and never again let them get hired for anything more than minimum wage jobs.

You can kill every "loved" one of theirs and while it would sort of bother them they have no real feelings. Only taking away their money, therefore their power, and take away the chance they can ever again do anything to become rich again and that would be the end of them. What did Roseanne lose, what! A chance to be deplorable on a weekly show that she is still going to earn millions from without ever having to show up at work.

by Anonymousreply 49June 25, 2018 1:01 AM

She annoying. Just jump off a bridge already.

by Anonymousreply 50June 25, 2018 1:02 AM

by Anonymousreply 51June 25, 2018 1:05 AM

That podcast was recorded the day after the brouhaha broke.

She's back to being a hardcore, rightwing conspiracy theorist on her Twitter. She hasn't learned shit.

by Anonymousreply 52June 25, 2018 1:14 AM

I really really really really hate people like her. Those fucking deplorables, fucking bullies. Crying wolf. You die, bitch.

by Anonymousreply 53June 25, 2018 1:15 AM

It's such a Trump move for her to say her words were being turned against her. Her words were her words. And for her to say she didn't know Jarrett was black is ridiculous--how could she not know the woman was black while knowing her name and who she was?

by Anonymousreply 54June 25, 2018 1:16 AM

I always kind of liked her but she never knew when to keep her fucking mouth shut.

by Anonymousreply 55June 25, 2018 1:19 AM

It will only be a matter of time before she slits her wrists. Her career is over.

by Anonymousreply 56June 25, 2018 1:22 AM

When she's lost all her millions THEN she can squall about having lost everything. Bitch has more money than she could spend in 10 lifetimes. Forget about show business and live out the rest of your life in comfort and shut the fuck up.

by Anonymousreply 57June 25, 2018 1:24 AM

I have to confess, I knew who Valerie Jarrett was and her position with President Obama. I didn't know she was black. Mea Culpa! I've felt so fucking stupid ever since this Roseanne thing broke and everyone is saying "how could anyone not know she's Black?"

I don't know how I didn't know, I just didn't know. Even not knowing, I took one look at Roseanne's tweet and said 'fire that racist cunt' so there ya go. Who she said it to isn't really the point. It's that she would say something like that about/to anyone.

by Anonymousreply 58June 25, 2018 1:26 AM

R44, when she was asked about that picture during an interview on ABC, she said the cookies actually represented Palestinians going to the oven, and she and the reporter just guffawed over that hilarious joke!

by Anonymousreply 59June 25, 2018 1:26 AM

That's going to be a great comedic reboot if they start off by killing her character off in the first episode. They must know they can't do that.

by Anonymousreply 60June 25, 2018 1:40 AM

She really has been misunderstood--her comment was intended as an homage to Academy Award winning actress Kim Hunter, and she thought Valerie Jarrett was portraying Stella DuBois Kowalski.

That, or she's just a racist pile of shit. You decide.

by Anonymousreply 61June 25, 2018 1:45 AM

She should put together an act with Tonya Harding and take it on the road.

"It's Not My Fault, the Waaaaaaaaaaaah World Tour" with any luck they'll never come back.

by Anonymousreply 62June 25, 2018 1:49 AM

I had to look up to see who Valerie was because I didn't know. I wouldn't have thought she was black.

I read a long time ago that the best comedians never insult others but aim the insults at themselves.

by Anonymousreply 63June 25, 2018 1:53 AM

And that is why Rotundo will never be the best.

by Anonymousreply 64June 25, 2018 2:02 AM

Maybe her Planet of the Apes comment was a reference to the theme of the movie--- living in an "opposite world". You know, like where the lunatics are running the asylum?

Just giving her the benefit of the doubt. She says herself, and everyone knows, any celeb would have to be downright suicidal to purposefully make such a blatant racist remark ---if it really was meant that way.

by Anonymousreply 65June 25, 2018 2:09 AM

Great, now I'm going to hell because I looked up her picture because I hadn't seen her in years and I laughed when this one came up...she doesn't really look black but, well, uh, the dark hair with the light face and tensed lips...

by Anonymousreply 67June 25, 2018 2:16 AM

R65, give it a rest. I've already explained it to you people. Roseanne is a racist whether she thought Jarrett was black or not because she attempted to excuse her comment by claiming she thought Jarrett was an Arab - as if then it's acceptable to be a racist bitch.

She's a Zionist and a racist, and she hasn't hidden that fact in years. It's why she supports Jewish supremacy in Israel. People need to stop pretending that some who are Jewish aren't capable of being just as racist or bigoted as anyone else.

by Anonymousreply 68June 25, 2018 2:17 AM

There is no other way it could have been meant and, as someone who didn't know Jarrett was Black, it makes no difference that Barr didn't know Jarrett was Black. The statement in and of itself is disgusting and racist. It doesn't matter whether it was about a Black person, a White person, a mixed race person, or anyone else. It's just an ugly, racist statement.

[quote] “Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj"

This was in response to a tweet accusing Jarrett of covering up President Obama's "crimes" for him. Take out Jarrett, put in anyone else, it's still the same blatantly racist, unacceptable statement. There is no mistaking it for anything else unless you're a moron.

by Anonymousreply 69June 25, 2018 2:20 AM

by Anonymousreply 71June 25, 2018 2:22 AM

Money isn't the motivator for Roseanne. It's the desperate need for attention that she is talking about when she say's she's lost everything. She is poison now to everyone except the Deplorables who she wouldn't want a bar of in real life.

by Anonymousreply 72June 25, 2018 2:25 AM

by Anonymousreply 78June 25, 2018 2:45 AM

She’s a liar and an asshole. Sadly this isn’t the end of her career. She’s just hit a speedbump.

by Anonymousreply 79June 25, 2018 2:50 AM

I was prepared to maybe give her the benefit of the doubt on this one, but the Susan Rice comment seals it for me - she's racist.

by Anonymousreply 80June 25, 2018 3:00 AM

I can't help but feel sorry for her. She was probably expecting her silly tweet to get a chuckle out of a few of her followers and that would be the extent of it. I imagine she forgot about the tweet altogether within 10 seconds and didn't think anything else of it until the controversy struck. She never could've expected what would happen in a million years.

I honestly feel she is too out of her mind to know any better. Craziness, stupidity, and a big mouth with no filter are not things that go together well. And the half a dozen excuses/"explanations" for what she said only make things worse.

by Anonymousreply 81June 25, 2018 3:01 AM

I really don’t care if Roseanne made a racist tweet.

by Anonymousreply 86June 25, 2018 3:15 AM

I find it odd that she's friends with Sandra Bernhard.

I read an interesting interview with Judd Apatow. Yeah, I know DL hates him. But, he talked about writing for Roseanne back in her early days. He said he got to know her quite well, and that he never knew her to be racist. He said it wasn't like her at all. He feels it's more her mental health than anything, now - he thinks it's all a cry for help.

What she could do is write a book or something. No, not an autobiography. RE-prove her talent.

She was always coarse and a mess. That was the whole point of her.

by Anonymousreply 91June 25, 2018 5:08 AM

She ruined the last two seasons of the original show. When the show started she was blue collar and her experiences were incorporated into the show. At the time Arnold was involved with the show he was still very much connected to his blue collar Iowa roots. The better writers left after the 94-95 season and Roseanne had a much bigger role in the story lines and by then she had lost her edge and at that point didn’t have a clue about or no longer cared about working class people as she had been a 1% er for quite some time.

The 95-96 season was supposed to be the last one with lecy goranson coming back as Becky. She decided to do a 9th season with the horrible lottery win plot. Goodman already had projects lined up and was upset about the 9th season but did make limited appearances that year.

R85 and R88 are deplorable for thinking it’s okay that Roseanne lost her show when Chris Brown didn’t lose anything after beating up Rihanna.

But I guess these days, if there’s anything worse than a man beating up a woman, it’s a woman making racist tweets.

by Anonymousreply 93June 25, 2018 5:35 AM

Oops, R84, not R85.

by Anonymousreply 94June 25, 2018 5:36 AM

Zionism is Apartheid. Period.

Why are we as Americans expected to have "Enthusiastic Zionism" as our default setting? Bizarre.

by Anonymousreply 95June 25, 2018 5:36 AM

Because the United States always supported and protected Israel, R95. It's not bizarre in the least, it's simply a cultural norm in the US to see Israel and Israelis favorably. It's not an evil plot.

by Anonymousreply 96June 25, 2018 5:41 AM

As her sister said, Roseanne always needs to be a victim. She also went after black NFL players. She’s back to posting alt-Right crap already. She came out against gay marriage. Then she gets called out and plays the mental illness card or Ambien. She did the same thing when she falsely accused her father of molestation. She gave three different reasons why she did it. She praised the Clintons for years, then turned around and said that Bill Clinton got her show cancelled. She blamed Michelle Obama for getting Roseanne cancelled.

Roseanne is not mentally ill, she has a personality disorder. She will never take responsibility for her actions. Never.

by Anonymousreply 97June 25, 2018 5:43 AM

R93 is a moron.

by Anonymousreply 98June 25, 2018 5:44 AM

[quote] Chris Brown beat up Rihanna, and yet, he didn’t get dropped from his record label. What he did was worse than anything Roseanne did.

Oh, really? Ruining her father’s life accusing him of molesting children??! Really??!

by Anonymousreply 99June 25, 2018 5:45 AM

Without reading a single lost in this thread, all I can say is: ROSEANNE BARR IS A FECKLESS CUNT AND THE SOONER SHE KILLS HERSLEF, THE BETTER!

Really? Democrats and Republicans disagree on water being wet, yet on this one issue, they become rabidly right-wing, defending EVERYTHING Israel does. Why do you think that is? Yes, I'm sure Jimmy Carter is wrong, but Sean Hannity is right when it comes to Israel.

When the matter is discussed in the media, when do you see a Palestinian included in the discussion? When do you see anyone challenge Israel's behavior? Obama increased the amount of money it gets, continued the vetoes and the only thing he did "wrong" was say the illegal settlements were not helpful and he has been branded an "antisemite" by the lunatics who blindly support Israel.

I’m telling you now — bookmark me, she will get a show on Fox News. What I said would happen with the reboot happened.

by Anonymousreply 103June 25, 2018 5:47 AM

In her defense, Apes are genetically superior to humans. Although the blond bright eyes ones do make good pets.

R99, I was talking about the tweet that led her show to getting canceled.

I never heard about her ruining her father’s life. That may be true, but that’s not why her show got canceled. Her getting her show canceled over a racist tweet is what I have a problem with.

by Anonymousreply 105June 25, 2018 6:27 AM

I grew up idolizing Roseanne and everything she stood for and now... Wtf happened? Her Twitter feed is an alt-right right clearing House. She retweets in favor of every single thing Trump does. It's so bizarre.

by Anonymousreply 106June 25, 2018 6:31 AM

Fuck her.

by Anonymousreply 107June 25, 2018 6:33 AM

She supports everything trump do s. Cunt, please cut your wrist ASAP.

by Anonymousreply 108June 25, 2018 6:37 AM

I really don't care, do U? 🤷🏼‍♂️

by Anonymousreply 109June 25, 2018 6:38 AM

I shed no tears for this CUNT.

by Anonymousreply 110June 25, 2018 6:44 AM

I have NOTHING but my millions of dollars.

by Anonymousreply 111June 25, 2018 7:27 AM

I wouldn’t fuck her w Bea Arthur’s dick...

by Anonymousreply 112June 25, 2018 7:30 AM

I think this is all a publicity stunt. She has something in the works. PR folks set this up.

by Anonymousreply 113June 25, 2018 7:41 AM

Obviously, she craves attention.

After this kind of downfall, most people would just slink away, and lay low.

Not Roseanne. She MUST be in the spotlight, even if it gives her negative attention.

She really needs to be ignored.

by Anonymousreply 114June 25, 2018 3:48 PM

Thank Charles Darwin for starting the theory that people of African descent are closely related to apes and monkeys. It's a flawed and odious theory which perpetrates racism and the concept of white supremacy. It gives whites justification for mistreating black people. It's easier to mistreat people if they are considered less than human.

Roseanne got cocky. She thought she'd be able to get away with it. She sees the rise of the alt right and thought her posts would go unchallenged! And she got busted! Love the African American President of ABC for being proactive and morally correct - this shit should not be tolerated! Fuck her. I knew she was off when she got Tom Arnold almost blackballed in Hollywood. She also wrongfully accused her dad of sexual abuse...she needs help.

by Anonymousreply 115June 25, 2018 4:04 PM

She's been awful for a long time. She thought she had cover since all the deplorables say crazy racist shit all the time now with near impunity.

by Anonymousreply 116June 25, 2018 5:22 PM

Darwin's propose that all primates, apes, monkey and humans, are descended from common ancestors, moron at R115.. He didn't say 'people of African descent are closely related to apes and monkeys'. Christ.

by Anonymousreply 117June 25, 2018 5:31 PM

Oh for God's sake, Just die!!!

by Anonymousreply 118June 25, 2018 5:36 PM

One of the reasons wingnuttery focuses on Valerie Jarrett was that she was born in Iran. Yep, they’re that crazy. Because she was born in Iran while her father was working there....Muslim brotherhood!

And George Soros is a favorite bogeyman because he funds anti-Putin projects and organizations. As a reward, he’s been the subject of a KGB propaganda project for decades which holds him, a Jew, responsible for the holocaust when he was 14 years old. Yep. This world is so crazy that a Jew is denigrating another Jew and blaming Jews for the holocaust. Well done, Vlad.

by Anonymousreply 119June 25, 2018 5:54 PM

"Maybe her Planet of the Apes comment was a reference to the theme of the movie--- living in an "opposite world". You know, like where the lunatics are running the asylum?"

I used to make that joke all the time when I found myself in a reverse position where I was suddenly a minority -- like a Starbucks where everyone in the joint was Armenian except for one white barista behind the counter. it wasn't meant to imply in the slightest that Armenians looked like apes (they don't), wasn't remotely meant literal. But we are living in very different times now and every comment is a potential time bomb.

by Anonymousreply 120June 25, 2018 6:10 PM

You're correct, R116.

by Anonymousreply 121June 25, 2018 7:12 PM

[quote] Even though she has announced that she suffers from mental illness, has everyone decided to ignore that and treat her like a rational, healthy person? She's sick. The end.

OK. But in that case, she needs not to be on twitter and not in the national spotlight, concentrating on making herself well again.

So this all worked out very well for her. She got what she needs: space, time for rest, and isolation.

by Anonymousreply 122June 25, 2018 7:22 PM

I'm not really buying that she's crazy and beyond her own control. I think she's just a has-been who missed the attention, and seeks it at any and all costs.

by Anonymousreply 123June 25, 2018 7:36 PM

Oh boo hoo.

by Anonymousreply 124June 25, 2018 7:44 PM

Finally somebody who represents meeeeeee on the teevee!

by Anonymousreply 125June 28, 2018 2:00 AM

Makes me wonder - what would she have been tweeting 25-30 years ago when Roseanne was at the height of its popularity? How have her politics changed?

by Anonymousreply 126June 28, 2018 2:26 AM

[quote]Because she was born in Iran while her father was working there....Muslim brotherhood!

Actually, people haven't paid attention to her "defense." She actually said " I thought Jarrett was Saudi (aka Arab/Sunni) and someone corrected her and said she was born in Iran. Roseanne isn't dumb. She's such a fucking Zionist that she said "Muslim Brotherhood" because she knew they're Sunni, and Iran is Shia, so it wouldn't make sense to mention MB and Iran together

I'm the one who said it earlier in the thread: Roseanne -like all Zionist (Ashkenazi) Jews- is allowed to get away with being a racist towards Arabs (and bigoted towards Muslims). She's been saying vile shit for years. She actually joked that those cookies represented Palestinians, none of that dissuaded ABC or Bob Iger from giving her a show. Gee, I'm sure it's not because Iger also leans Zionist. I reiterate, her only mistake was assuming everyone knew she targeted Jarret thinking she was an A-rab. Had she made that clear, then ABC would've continued to allow her racist venom to be spread.

[quote]Because the United States always supported and protected Israel, [R95]. It's not bizarre in the least, it's simply a cultural norm in the US to see Israel and Israelis favorably. It's not an evil plot.

Uh, yeah. I caught that. Nowhere did I indicate it was any sort of "evil plot", it is still bizarre that Zionism is assumed. The average American lunkhead doesn't even know what it means.

by Anonymousreply 128June 28, 2018 5:53 AM

Well perhaps the average lunkhead American understands using words like Zionist and all Jews and lumping together US foreign policy with Zionism is just hipster trash for "I'm anti Semitic."
