I think they're best friends and truly get along. I don't think their closeness is fake, but I seriously doubt their relationship is sexual.

The weird thing about her is that she really works hard at her acting, and takes very difficult roles not just for Oscar or Emmy bait but to stretch herself as an actor. And yet she has this weird obsession with public appearance: she tries to sculpt her face into a horrible approximation of youth, and she overdoes it with playing up how happy she is in her marriages.

My sense of her is that she's a genuinely committed and hardworking actress, but a very phony human being obsessed with how people view her.
