Bertolucci Says He Wants to Work with Kevin Spacey 'Immediately'
Bernardo Bertolucci has said that Ridley Scott “should be ashamed” over the decision to cut Kevin Spacey from his drama All the Money in the World.
Scott made the last-minute decision to remove Spacey from the completed film last autumn after the actor and former Old Vic artistic director was accused of sexual harassment and assault by a number of men. Spacey’s scenes were reshot at great expense, with Christopher Plummer replacing him in the role of billionaire J Paul Getty.
Yet, speaking at the world premiere of the restored version of his 1972 drama Last Tango in Paris at the Bari international film festival, Bertolucci was critical of the decision, according to the Italian newspaper il Giornale (via Deadline).
“When I learned that Ridley Scott had agreed to eliminate the scenes of All the Money in the World in which Kevin Spacey was playing, I sent a message to editor Peter Scalia to tell Scott that he should be ashamed,” the Italian director said. “And then I immediately wanted to make a film with Spacey.”

Spacey is a lecherous predator and paedofile R5. That's what's so gross about him.
But you knew that...

R7 He's no more of a predator than any of us males.
We're men and we know what we like.
We don't need to be told how to behave by women and teenagers.

What is, or was, Bernardo's story? Bi at the very least....another of those 70s flameouts, like Mr. Coppola. He won the Oscar for "The Last Emperor," which was luscious and dead in the water, and then pretty much disappeared....He used to seem so interesting.

Of course Berlolucci will require that Spacey do a lengthy full-frontal nude scene.

R8 Speak for yourself. I prefer 'em willing and older than 14 but maybe I'm an outlier among " us males".

Rapp was 14 but looked and acted like a college kid. It’s not like he was some goofy, acne-ridden little kid with braces. He enjoyed the company of men, then Spacey had a few too many drinks and treated him like one.

Well Bernardo had Marlon Brando rape Maria Schneider on camera in Last Tango in Paris so this isn't surprising.

I think Scott was bending to producers box office concerns more than standing up against sexual abuse. Not that I think he's for it or that he doesn't care. So I can see Bertoluccis point somewhere.
That said, he does seem a long nosehaired dinosaur if he cannot incorporate the valid and long called for issue of sexual abuse esp in Hollywood in his worldview. That should be his concern just as it should be everybody's.

I'd be happy to see the new Bertoluccid movie with Spacey.
I didn't hold a fatwa against Polanski either. I even voted for the adulterer Bill Clinton.

I don't think Spacey wants to come back anytime soon because he doesn't want the publicity. I think he's quite comfortable laying low for now. He's probably more concerned about how any new publicity could lead to more harm being done to his personal life. I wouldn't be surprised if SJWs started protesting the release of Billionare Boy's Club next month. Even the new season of House of Cards, which he's not in, could put a harsh spotlight on him.

R37 i disagree. I don't think Spacey is quite comfortable at all. The whole situation is excruciating. He won't be the same at all going through this.

Bertolucci is a notorious perv and closeted, self-loathing 'mo.
Always brings up homosexuality then suppresses it in his work, which has constantly been interpreted as his obsession with trying to deal with his homosexuality in straight contexts, pained by their same-sex attractions (Last Tango, the Conformist, the Dreamers).
Notice how he brought up homosexuality with a hint of jealousy and then goes about condescendingly critiquing gay men.

Love this bit of trivia
Bertolucci films nude scenes of his actors and miraculously leaves it on the cutting room floor (along with the spooj in his private viewing room)

I love this quote from an analysis of Bertolucci's fascination with homoerotica, in light of Bertolucci's comment to the press once: "Although I think 1900 is a movie there is a lot to say about, my critics keep distant from it. It's as if they were fucked up the ass and refused to come."
As the essayist says after linking Bertolucci's films ... "we're led to wonder if it's only the critics who have been fucked up the ass but refused to come."
