I’m so beyond wearing obvious labels - I fell victim to owning multiple pairs of the plain classic bit loafer in the early 2000’s when I was trying to impress people but I don’t do that anymore. One thing owning Gucci loafers taught me though was that expensive, well-made quality footwear is well worth it if you can afford it.

There will always be classic Gucci items. The leather bags and the loafers are still very nice quality. For those complaining about shiny brass obviously they haven't seriously shopped there, because silver bits and hardware have always been available. I think most people who really appreciate the quality and classic design are not selecting items with GG's, or the embroidered shoes. The jackets and shirts with embroidery have there place too, but the new shoes are over the top. My last pair of loafers I purchased are on their third soles; the bullhide leather is still like butter.

I have a pair of classic Gucci loafers that have always been too tight. I left them at a place where they stretch them for a week. I must call to see what's happening to them. They look so nice, but they've been a bastard to wear.

All these modern ready to wear designer clothes look like the fashion industry is trolling the customer in a "it really costs a lot of money to look this cheap (and tacky)". Gucci, like Versace, is starting to cater towards the idiot hood crowd, who like wearing ugly and expensive clothes to flaunt their gangbanging or rap wealth. That’s why it has gone downhill. Once you start catering towards people who would rather spend their money on big ugly chains instead of child support, you’ve failed as a “luxury” brand.
