White House Press Conference Today

Featuring Sarah Fuckabee Sanders and Homeland Security chief Kirstjen Nielsen. Was originally scheduled for shortly after 1:00 today , then 3:00 and finally 4:00 although there's no sign of the press conference starting yet. Supposed to focus primarily on Trump's policy of separation of illegal families and children. Will be interesting if Sanders and Nielsen take questions or not.

by Anonymousreply 104June 30, 2018 10:16 PM

They are scrambling in the face of huge backlash, even on Fox News, about taking kids away from asylum-seeking parents.

Presenting at a border and seeking asylum is not a crime. It is provided for by international treaties that the US is a party to.

by Anonymousreply 1June 18, 2018 8:46 PM

Oh Sarah...

by Anonymousreply 2June 18, 2018 8:46 PM

I think what the Trump border patrol are doing is letting them cross the line but arresting them before they can make it to the place to request asylum.

by Anonymousreply 3June 18, 2018 8:51 PM

Has the possibility of being one of Trump's larger dumpster fires - Huckabee did NOT want to do this conference, asked (practically begged) for Nielsen to attend in order to take away some of the heat from herself, the administration scrambling to get everyone on the same page after disparate comments, and of course Trump's blatant lies of placing the blame on the Democrats.

by Anonymousreply 4June 18, 2018 8:58 PM

White House says postponed till 5:00. And that Homeland Security will take some questions. It's all up to the WH press corp now. How hard do they press?

by Anonymousreply 5June 18, 2018 9:03 PM

Anyone watching? I want Sarah to speak so we can know the TRUTH of what is going on down there.

by Anonymousreply 6June 18, 2018 9:06 PM

LOL r6.

by Anonymousreply 7June 18, 2018 9:11 PM

Can't wait to get out of this country...

by Anonymousreply 8June 18, 2018 9:15 PM

They are probably talking about the best ways to ..cook the children they captured

by Anonymousreply 9June 18, 2018 9:16 PM

I assumed they were hunting for one of the lost Chankara stones, in the mines with the other children.

by Anonymousreply 10June 18, 2018 9:18 PM

This is going to be ugly.

by Anonymousreply 11June 18, 2018 9:20 PM

God the blonde woman is so fucking smug.

by Anonymousreply 12June 18, 2018 9:29 PM

Here's Kirstjen Nielsen with some of the children speaking on behalf ot Trump's policies.

Please agree with me that she is coming across as a first class soulless bitch!

by Anonymousreply 14June 18, 2018 9:32 PM

Agreed, r14.

Fuck these people. Fuck them so hard.

by Anonymousreply 15June 18, 2018 9:33 PM

R10 just made me realize who Sarah reminds me of.

by Anonymousreply 16June 18, 2018 9:34 PM

So the parents have been arrested and that is why the kids are in the centers? What happened in the past when a family tried to cross like this? We're they just turned away?

by Anonymousreply 17June 18, 2018 9:36 PM

Let us know if anyone asks about this:

'The desperate sobbing of 10 Central American children, separated from their parents one day last week by immigration authorities at the border, makes for excruciating listening. Many of them sound like they’re crying so hard, they can barely breathe. They scream “Mami” and “Papá” over and over again, as if those are the only words they know.

The baritone voice of a Border Patrol agent booms above the crying. “Well, we have an orchestra here,” he jokes. “What’s missing is a conductor.”'

The story is Trump was humiliating Nielsen last month in WH meetings for not doing her job keeping out "Mexicans", so she is now redeeming herself in his eyes.

by Anonymousreply 19June 18, 2018 9:37 PM

"Congress can change the laws. Congress should change the laws. Congress..." But Trump can do away with the policy with one signature!

Also hated Nielsen's deflection about a questions about the photos of children re: the whereabouts about female children and infants. "What photos? I haven't seen these photos. Photos?"

by Anonymousreply 20June 18, 2018 9:37 PM

Finally, someone showing she's a bigger cunt than me!

by Anonymousreply 21June 18, 2018 9:37 PM

Her answer, iirc, was something like, "I haven't seen/heard about that footage."

by Anonymousreply 22June 18, 2018 9:37 PM

I wish someone would ask her what Trump's semen tastes like.

by Anonymousreply 23June 18, 2018 9:38 PM

Sarah's up!

by Anonymousreply 24June 18, 2018 9:38 PM

Sarah chickened out? Her father must be so ashamed of her right now. There was never an atrocity from which he shied away.

Sarah was raised better than this. Trump is a Republican, so Sarah should support him. Hell, she should be in Texas snatching babies from mothers in service of Pee Brain's agenda.

by Anonymousreply 25June 18, 2018 9:38 PM

My god, can't Sarah do *something* with that hair?

by Anonymousreply 26June 18, 2018 9:39 PM

In most cases R17 it was treated as an immigration issue, not a criminal offense.

by Anonymousreply 27June 18, 2018 9:40 PM

Every last one of these soulless scumbags needs to be put on trial at The Hague for crimes against humanity.

by Anonymousreply 28June 18, 2018 9:40 PM

Would LOVE to see Nielsen and Trump meeting immediately after this conference. "You were supposed to make them LOVE me, you bitch! Get back out there!"

by Anonymousreply 29June 18, 2018 9:41 PM

R3, asylum seekers turn themselves in to ICE, just has been happening. What is different is the separation of families that occurs when this happens. There is no special place they need to go. It is this separation, a new policy, not law, that is the issue.

by Anonymousreply 30June 18, 2018 9:42 PM

Sarah Huckabee: "And finally, two words -- Space Force. Thank you, ladies and gentlemen, that concludes today's press conference."

by Anonymousreply 31June 18, 2018 9:43 PM

That Kirstjen Nielsen (sp) Homeland Security monster variously looked like she wanted to kill everyone in the room, burst into tears, or quit her job, live on television, and spout profanities. Or all three in a big burst of reaction.

Instead she just meekly slumped away, humanity depleted and reputation in tatters.

by Anonymousreply 32June 18, 2018 9:52 PM

Well Jesus, Kirst, ya lie with dogs....

by Anonymousreply 33June 18, 2018 9:54 PM

Nielsen is obviously Trump’s puppet. I’d rather quit my job than say such horrible things. These people are so short-sighted. The Trump era will be over in about 18 months. This shit she’s talking lasts forever.

by Anonymousreply 34June 18, 2018 9:55 PM

Dogs? PIGS.

by Anonymousreply 35June 18, 2018 9:56 PM

That video of them laughing at the crying children is just too much.

by Anonymousreply 36June 18, 2018 9:59 PM

So am I understanding that the parents who are being separated from the children are people who have been arrested? If so, then what other choice is there but to separate them from their children? When a US citizen is arrested, their children are not allowed to accompany them to jail, right? What am I missing here?

by Anonymousreply 37June 18, 2018 10:02 PM

This “crisis” is nothing more than the Trump administration choosing to follow existing immigration laws as written by Congress. The same laws which were ignored by previous administrations, including Obama’s.

If you don’t like what’s going on, Congress can change the laws at any time... as was stated multiple times during today’s press conference.

by Anonymousreply 38June 18, 2018 10:02 PM

I LURVE a good space war

by Anonymousreply 39June 18, 2018 10:03 PM

R37, yes you are correct. The children have been separated from their parents, who have been arrested for crimes. The exact same thing which would happen to any American citizen arrested for a crime.

by Anonymousreply 40June 18, 2018 10:04 PM

Nielsen was asked over and over by @kwelkernbc: where are the girls? where are the toddlers? She never answers.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 41June 18, 2018 10:05 PM

Also, 10000 of the 12000 children who are being held... arrived in the US unaccompanied by their parents. They were sent solo on a dangerous journey, at risk of being abducted by traffickers.

This was stated during today’s press conference, but you’ll never hear the fake news mainstream media actually reporting the facts of course.

by Anonymousreply 42June 18, 2018 10:07 PM

The Trump propaganda hoes have arrived. What time is it in Moscow?

by Anonymousreply 43June 18, 2018 10:08 PM

R37/R40 just keep spreading lies no matter how many times this garbage has been corrected.

by Anonymousreply 44June 18, 2018 10:10 PM

For the love of god, r37 and 39. Except in cases of danger or violent crime, people "arrested" in the US are given appearance tickets and sent on their way, or arraigned quickly and released, or bail is set for serious crimes. Their kids aren't put in cages.

by Anonymousreply 45June 18, 2018 10:10 PM

Question about these press conferences. I see reporters I know from ABC, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, etc. April Ryan, etc. Are there ever Faux News people there? I never see them in the press pool.

by Anonymousreply 46June 18, 2018 10:11 PM

It's starting to get really really really creepy that nobody anywhere can adequately explain where the Trump Administration is holding migrant girls, toddlers and babies.

by Anonymousreply 47June 18, 2018 10:12 PM

What state(s) are these children being held, does anyone know? What department (homeland security?) is handling the holding of these children?

by Anonymousreply 48June 18, 2018 10:14 PM

Maybe some of Trump’s best friends would be interested in taking in the children?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 49June 18, 2018 10:14 PM

No families are not separated for misdemeanors in America. Maybe in Russia they are.

by Anonymousreply 50June 18, 2018 10:18 PM

[quote] their parents, who have been arrested for crime

Some are just asylum seekers yet they are also separated.. When did seeking asylum become a crime under US law?

by Anonymousreply 51June 18, 2018 10:19 PM

People are freaking out that there are tent cities for kids in their own backyards. Soon, Americans will start demonstrating in front of these tent cities and abandoned Walmarts. That’s when it’ll get ugly.

Every time a news channel shows the exterior of one of these facilities, another American says, “Oh my God, those kids are just down the street from here!” And it will prompt them to walk over and see for them self...and ask questions....and protest.

by Anonymousreply 52June 18, 2018 10:20 PM

John Kelly stated months ago they were looking into starting a zero tolerance policy of taking the children. Stephen Miller went on television and bragged about the policy. This is a Trump policy. It is not the fault of Democrats WHO DO NOT CONTROL ANY LEVER OF GOVERNMENT. It could be stopped tomorrow. They are doing this on purpose just liked they planned to.

You heartless fucking Russian and Republican trolls can go straight to hell with your Nazi masters.

by Anonymousreply 53June 18, 2018 10:21 PM

"Some are just asylum seekers yet they are also separated.. When did seeking asylum become a crime under US law?"

Here's where it gets confusing though. If I were a non-citizen trying to get into the country and I committed a crime, I might just use the "I'm seeking asylum!" excuse. I'm not saying any have done that, but I am wondering, how then do you differentiate what the truth is? I suppose that is why they are being detained, in order to sort out the truth. Which then, their children should not be arrested along with them. So again, what to do with the children meanwhile?

by Anonymousreply 54June 18, 2018 10:24 PM

We know some of the children are being taken to Miami, thanks to this flight attendant.

by Anonymousreply 55June 18, 2018 10:24 PM

R51, when attorney general jeff sessions said it would become a crime. he said he would do it, and he did.

by Anonymousreply 56June 18, 2018 10:27 PM

Whaaat R55? I'm sorry but I highly doubt our govt. is paying to fly children around the country. I need to see an actual source for this, not a link to a crazy lib's twitter account.

by Anonymousreply 57June 18, 2018 10:28 PM

The ProPublica audio tapes are from McAllen, which is unfortunately several hours from the population centers of Houston and San Antonio.

by Anonymousreply 58June 18, 2018 10:31 PM

R40, r37, are you in Russia we don’t do that here for misdemeanors.

Do you hav want a response?

by Anonymousreply 59June 18, 2018 10:31 PM

WELL??

by Anonymousreply 60June 18, 2018 10:31 PM

Can we hear from some Americans please?

by Anonymousreply 61June 18, 2018 10:32 PM

R57, given the ignorance of your other posts, your belief in something has zero relationship to whether it's accurate. Miami has one of the largest facilities for detained immigrant children.

by Anonymousreply 62June 18, 2018 10:36 PM

R54, asylum seekers are vetted. They have to prove their claim that they need asylum. They get put in administrative holding (detention) sometimes for years. They never set foot on US soil. If a judge rules in favor of asylum, they will then get work authorization, a social security card.

by Anonymousreply 63June 18, 2018 10:37 PM

Please refer to these cages and tents as Trump Hotels.

by Anonymousreply 64June 18, 2018 10:39 PM

Sarah chickened out? Her father must be so ashamed of her right now. There was never an atrocity from which he shied away.

Sarah was raised better than this. Trump is a Republican, so Sarah should support him. Hell, she should be in Texas snatching babies from mothers in service of Pee Brain's agenda.

by Anonymousreply 66June 18, 2018 10:45 PM

They aren't huddling. They're everywhere lying about how these kids are being taken from criminals and Obama did it too. I even saw a few insisting that there is a law requiring it and they cite to US Code that in fact does no such thing. These people are shameless.

by Anonymousreply 67June 18, 2018 10:48 PM

Well r37 and r40 have sure scurried away.

After they accidentally revealed they are from the Far East.

by Anonymousreply 68June 18, 2018 10:51 PM

Yeah but note how he's not pressuring the Trump administration to do anything about it. Instead, he is proposing legislation that will almost certainly not pass and that Trump has said he will veto. So he gets to be all "concerned" without having the fuss of actually caring enough to make something happen.

by Anonymousreply 85June 19, 2018 12:56 AM

There doesn't seem to be a specific law that says children have to be separated from their families when being detained for illegal border crossing, which is technically just a misdemeanor. Why are they doing this now when they were keeping kids with families before?

by Anonymousreply 86June 19, 2018 1:07 AM

Because Sessions, Miller, and Kelly, in particular, want to "send a message," r86: "Apply for asylum in the U.S. and your kids will be taken away from you, so don't come here to apply for asylum." Basically, they're trying to get by fiat what they could not get by legislation: a closing of the U.S. borders to immigrants and asylum seekers.

by Anonymousreply 87June 19, 2018 1:14 AM

This is the Trump administration carrying out their white nationalist agenda. That's all this is.

There was just a republican the other day, I forget who it was. Who said there's a shortage of white children.

That's all the Trump administration is all about. Is making racist right-wing white people happy.

Karma is not going to be pretty to anyone involved in this mess.

Just read on Twitter that Stephen Miller prepared to roll out more - and possibly harsher - anti-immigration measures near the mid-terms. Although what could be harsher than the current status is unknown, I'm sure Trump's White House can think of something.

by Anonymousreply 95June 19, 2018 4:32 AM

This is a slippery slope operating in reality. They’re pushing the edge of what is deemed acceptable, testing to see how far they can go. If the outcry is not loud enough from the public to stop it, soon they will push further and more inhumanely at whim to reach their goals. This is a dangerous time for this country.

by Anonymousreply 96June 19, 2018 5:31 AM

R97, after Bush and Cheney for their advocacy of torture. Is it true that they cannot travel to certain places for fear of being detained and remanded for trial? Especially Cheney?

I’m deeply saddened that this country completely disgraced itself for the use of torture and the handling of at least some of our prisoners at Guantanamo.

I would have had the CIA invent a tiny tracking device that is ingested with food, then latches onto the stomach wall, and fed it secretly to the prisoners. Then, let the prisoners go. Any who returned to fighting against US interests could have then be tracked and fired upon if deemed worthy of the expense of a cruse missile. Also a great source of intelligence. Multiple problems solved with a little inginuity and torture not involved.
