One down, let's cross our fingers that Cohen also goes to jail today <3
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 15, 2018 3:50 PM |
Confirmed by Bloomberg at 1143AM.
Will Paul get a buzz cut in jail?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 15, 2018 3:51 PM |
LOL bye, betch!
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 15, 2018 3:52 PM |
Good.

At 70 years of age, Paul Manafort is never likely to see the outside ever again.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 15, 2018 3:56 PM |
He's the guy from Trump's campaign who fetched coffee for a week and never met Trump.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 15, 2018 3:56 PM |
Jesus Christ. What is going on? Are Trump and Putin so incompetent that they couldn't get Manafort out of the country?
Are Trump and Putin easy to beat after all?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 15, 2018 3:57 PM |
Why would he pardon Manafort? He said Manafort was unimportant and only worked for him for 49 days.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 15, 2018 3:58 PM |
ANDDDD you are not allowed to wear your toupee in Jail! Don't kid yourself, for these old fucks, that is humiliating!!
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 15, 2018 4:00 PM |
Will he flip? Die in jail? Or is he banking on a pardon? My money's on the latter -- and I bet he'll get it, though it may not be until Trump's last day in office.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 15, 2018 4:00 PM |
Trump and people like Manafort wanted to be in the spotlight and Trump has made a lot of money but legal fees can be astronomical.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 15, 2018 4:00 PM |
Take note, Mr Cohen. A flip is a wonderful thing.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 15, 2018 4:04 PM |
Law enforcement always looked the other way with people like Manafort and Trump. I hope that time is over. The Trumps are a crime family.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 15, 2018 4:05 PM |
Now if Hillary will just tweet "Lock him up!".
Bye bye Manafort! You traitorous pos!
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 15, 2018 4:06 PM |
What I love about this is that apparently no respectable law firm is willing to take on Trump, and his goons, as clients. Well, no matter what connections you have, if you have a reputation of not paying your lawyers you are fucked even in the USA!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 15, 2018 4:06 PM |
Yes, R19, that's one of the many infuriating things this whole Trump debacle as brought to light -- "white-collar criminals" can make tens of millions of illegal dollars and law enforcement doesn't bother with them, even though everybody knows they're crooked. Yet a black kids gets thrown in jail because he smoked a joint.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 15, 2018 4:07 PM |
You REALLY ARE in the shithouse now pal.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 15, 2018 4:12 PM |
I knew Trump was up to something with his press coverages today. He dismissed Manafort as basically no one important in his campaign. I guess he wanted his meltdown to be the No# 1 topic of conversation instead of Manafort's trouble.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 15, 2018 4:14 PM |
Hold on to your hats, Trump will go meta as Mueller gets closer on his ass.
Bye Paul. Don't forget the lube, you'll need it.

He can't be pardoned until he's found guilty of something.

I think he's in danger, gurl.
Guards aren't paid much...
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 15, 2018 4:18 PM |
Lock him up!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 15, 2018 4:20 PM |
I hope he's raped on an hourly basis. But he'll most likely be kept in the seclusion area so none of the other inmates can get at him.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 15, 2018 4:21 PM |
He's going to eat or drink something and be found dead the following morning. Is there any doubt?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 15, 2018 4:22 PM |
R26, he can. Nixon was pardoned before he was found guilty of anything.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 15, 2018 4:22 PM |
We’re not interested in his 70 year old ass, r29. Were waiting for Don jr and Jared.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | June 15, 2018 4:24 PM |
Let's not forget that this shitheel is not going to jail because of the alleged activities he was originally charged with. He's going to jail because he was charged with crimes ... and then attempted to conspire to obstruct justice. Which is simply unbelievable.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 15, 2018 4:25 PM |
Manafort was abandoned by Trump and his lackeys long ago. He's proverbial toast.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 15, 2018 4:26 PM |

He should be sitting in jail, right next to Manafort.
No doubt about it.

by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 15, 2018 4:46 PM |
I don't think Manafort wears a toupe. i think he just colors his hair.
If nothing else, when he gets released, he'll be completely gray.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | June 15, 2018 4:47 PM |
I think what fucks Manafort is that Mueller is on his ass and constantly checks who is paying Manafort's legal bills. That's why I thought that Putin would either kill Manafort or get him out of the country.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | June 15, 2018 4:47 PM |
It's his real hair.
Looks the same as when he was younger.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | June 15, 2018 4:47 PM |
Of course he did, R46. Republicans think the FBI is great when they're investigating Dems, but scum when they investigate the GOP.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | June 15, 2018 4:48 PM |
It can't be a wig. No one even makes a wig that color. That's a warm brown rinse with a touch of gray cunningly left at the temples
by Anonymous | reply 51 | June 15, 2018 4:55 PM |
Oh, happy day.
I'm betting the nod to his lawyer was a signal to continue pressuring witnesses while he's in jail. Or to go beg dump for a pardon.
I hope this traitor dies in prison but not before giving up the goods on the dump krime klan.

There is something odd about Trump invoking Reagan and Dole in his tweet about Manafort imprisonment.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | June 15, 2018 7:10 PM |
Manafort's so used to being above the law that he thought he could fuck with witnesses while under house arrest. He deserves jail time for stupidity/hubris among other things.
And Trump can't pardon him prior to a conviction. Pauly can hang tight for a while.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | June 15, 2018 7:28 PM |
Nixon was pardoned efore being charged with anything, R66.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | June 15, 2018 7:56 PM |
It set nothing but a bad precedent...
"There were no historical or legal precedents to guide Ford in the matter of Nixon’s pending indictment. In the end, he decided to give Nixon a full pardon for all offenses against the United States in order to put the tragic and disruptive scandal behind all concerned. Ford justified this decision by claiming that a long, drawn-out trial would only have further polarized the public. Ford’s decision to pardon Nixon was condemned by many and is thought to have contributed to Ford’s failure to win the 1976 election."
by Anonymous | reply 68 | June 15, 2018 8:00 PM |
question: as paulie will be in jail until his trial, we know his hair is going to be different (gone and grey) when he appears in court, but will he be wearing orange (the new black)?
by Anonymous | reply 69 | June 15, 2018 8:07 PM |
Couldn’t happen to a more arrogant, entitled chump. Well, except the orange mob boss in charge, of course.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | June 15, 2018 8:10 PM |
More proof of Trumo’s guilt.
20 people indicted; 5 guilty please; Manafort in jail for witness tampering...
Nothing to see here folks
by Anonymous | reply 71 | June 15, 2018 8:16 PM |
If Manafort worked for Reagan and Dole he can't be chopped liver. But, then, he was working for Trump for only a short time, so he wasn't all that important.
by Anonymous | reply 72 | June 15, 2018 8:16 PM |
Trump is in a bind if he pardons anyone who could also face serious state-level charges. If he pardons, he'll trigger one or more states to move forward and that would likely include against his whole crime family. State prosecutions work very differently than federal ones, and even more differently than special prosecutor investigations. States aren't going to go piecemeal. Anyone who accepts a pardon can have it used against them in a subsequent case because it's deemed an admission of guilt of whatever they are pardoned for. That means a whole lot more flipping and that hurts Trump's innermost and most protected circle the most. So Trump is holding off as long as possible on the big pardons because it is basically the nuclear option. The plan right now is delay as much as possible, derail Mueller if possible, and keep the base riled up so the GOP is afraid to do anything or allow much of anything to happen.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | June 15, 2018 8:19 PM |
He’s his campaign manager, he’ll Have to pardon him. And then he will have to pay
by Anonymous | reply 74 | June 15, 2018 8:21 PM |
So when does he actually GO to jail? Now? Tomorrow? Next week? Have not seen anything about when.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | June 15, 2018 8:29 PM |
He was taken from court to jail.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | June 15, 2018 8:32 PM |
Why wasn’t he cuffed? You or I would have been?
by Anonymous | reply 77 | June 15, 2018 8:44 PM |
Even if we assume there was "no collusion" (a rather doubtful claim), it's becoming quite clear that the Trump campaign - with Trump's full knowledge - was totally infused with shady, crooked, white collar criminals. And I have no delusion that this isn't exactly how Trump ran and runs his business.
Given all this craziness, here is some shit that will blow your mind. (BTW" I live in Houston. I'm a Dem.) The republican party is having its state convention. A poll published in today's Houston Chronicle shows that 88 motherfuicking percent of republicans at the convention support the dipshit and think he is doing a good job.
Now that's fucking embarrassing.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | June 15, 2018 9:00 PM |
They don't care that Donald DUMP is a criminal, or crooked, or racist, or a war mongerer, R78.
The only thing that matters to them, is that he's white and he doesn't like Hispanic immigration to the US.
To quote him: "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot someone, and I wouldn't lose voters." And he's absolutely right.
DUMP knows his voters, in a way that Democrats haven't figured out their own voters yet. That's why he keeps "winning."
by Anonymous | reply 79 | June 15, 2018 9:15 PM |
I'm not really seeing anyone winning except Kim Jong Un and Scott Pruitt. Looks like everyone is floundering trying to maintain a facade sanity.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | June 15, 2018 9:24 PM |
Manafort was told by the Judge to give his wallet and something else to his wife, as she was sending him to jail right then.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | June 15, 2018 9:28 PM |
Don't forget though that, in large part because of Trump, fewer people are identifying as Republican as his administration lugs along. So the high percentage of Republicans who support him is more and more indicative of the fact that all that is left of the party are his base.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | June 15, 2018 9:36 PM |
R82. Yep, there are now more independents than Republicans in California. I expect to see similar trends in states where primaries are open.

by Anonymous | reply 88 | June 15, 2018 10:57 PM |
So which county jail? Rikers could do a serious number on him--particularly since he's going to end up in jail for months with two trials coming up.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | June 15, 2018 11:24 PM |
Apparently if Trump pardons anyone, that person can no longer take the 5 th.
So a pardoned person can be called To testify in front of congress or a trial about everything he knows and he must reveal all he knows
by Anonymous | reply 90 | June 15, 2018 11:31 PM |
Like the GOP congress would do Jack shit.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | June 15, 2018 11:36 PM |

by Anonymous | reply 92 | June 15, 2018 11:40 PM |
R67 - correct, but (1) the pardon was a quid pro quo for his resignation, and (2) I believe there were state charges (obstruction of justice?) that are not covered by the pardon.
by Anonymous | reply 93 | June 16, 2018 12:23 AM |
I don’t believe the pardon was in exchange nothing.
Nixon resigned because impeachment was imminent and certain. It would have been a disgrace. Nixon was losing his position regardless.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | June 16, 2018 12:27 AM |
R93 "the pardon was a quid pro quo for his resignation"
Not really. At least we don't know for sure and it really doesn't appear that way. Nixon's advisers definitely floated the idea of trying to arrange that deal and Haig supposedly tried to suggest it to Ford. But there's no evidence that deal ever happened, at least from Ford's end. Nixon supposedly resigned fully expecting the pardon, and threatened to publicly state there was such a deal if he didn't get it, but that could have been Haig (and Kissenger) playing him because they were done with him. Ford definitely took the time to consider whether it should be a pre-indictment blanket pardon or something more specific, and he also used the pardon to negotiate what would happen to Nixon's papers and tapes (Nixon was taking the position they were his personal property, a court later ruled they had to go into the National Archives). Ford also tried to get a statement of contrition from Nixon, which he flat out refused and almost rejected the pardon over. But this negotiating was all after Nixon already resigned.
I never did by the "for the good of the country" bullshit, though. Ford ultimately pardoned Nixon because they were old friends, and because Nixon had tried to protect Ford by distorting Ford's role in running interference against Wright Patman.

I would imagine Mueller has considered the possibility that someone might try to off Manafort while at county.
Whatever Mueller has must be so airtight that if, by turning up the heat to get Manafort to flip, Manafort meets an untimely demise, the case would move forward without a hitch.
Are Team Trump smart enough to realize this, too?
by Anonymous | reply 110 | June 16, 2018 6:24 PM |
Without a doubt Trump is smart enough. North Korea and Russia have no problem eliminating people and T rump respects and. thinks the world os their leaders. After all it has been stated that Trump could murder Comey and it would not be a problem. Sad state of affairs.
I heard on MSNBC this morning the jail that Manafort is in has cockroaches everywhere.

What life is like for Paul Manafort in jail In the federal system, there is no mugshot nor perp walk. If he's found guilty & sent to prison for the amount of time prosecutors hope, the 69 yr old man may never be seen outside again. Manafort was last seen wearing a navy pinstripe suit, crisp white shirt and burgundy tie in a federal courtroom in DC on Friday. He had lived for the last eight months in his Alexandria, Virginia, condo under house arrest. Court marshals had to follow the judge's order after a tense proceeding Friday morning. They took Manafort's belt, wallet and tie minutes after he was ordered into custody, leaving the man who once spent $130,000 at a clothing store in Beverly Hills without the comforts he'd entered the building wearing. Manafort stayed within that fortress-like building for more than five hours. His housing unit listed on the jail's website: "VIP." He was the only inmate at the jail with that housing unit description as of Saturday. The legal reason he's there is listed as a vague "federal statute" offense. Manafort is technically there for witness tampering; he awaits his two trials in July & September after a federal judge revoked his bail for allegedly committing a crime since his arrest. He will still be tried for the offense. He has maintained his innocence in the face of 25 criminal charges that range from obstruction of justice and conspiracy, to foreign lobbying registration violations & bank fraud. This is not the type of offense that fills up this jail. Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw, Virginia, opened in 1995 and is primarily owned and used by the Virginia counties that surround it. That means much of the crimes represent a cross-section of local incidents, like drug offenses, thefts and assaults. The jail isn't overcrowded and houses few homeless people, according to a state study two years ago on mental health in Virginia's jails. The jail also had no reports of inmate aggression toward other inmates in the month used for the study's snapshot. Michael Vick, the former NFL quarterback sent to prison for a dogfighting conspiracy, stayed in a dorm-sized cell with a toilet, shower and sink for two months in late 2007, And the R&B singer Chris Brown waited inside Northern Neck for his misdemeanor assault trial in 2014, which he ultimately avoided by pleading guilty. The jail has faced wrongful death and injury lawsuits in recent years and has had inmates commit suicide, according to local news reports. The jail's Facebook page listed an aggregate 2.1 out of 5 stars in its review section before Manafort's arrival. Among the one-star reviews, one person said the "inmates are treated worse than livestock." Another says this: "We're all utterly miserable in this hell hole!" Family and friends have visiting privileges for one hour once a week. This jail was the best for Manafort at this time the US Marshals determined. That environ, with a population more prone to violent crime and homelessness, was too risky for a man like Manafort, who at one time was touted as the steady hand needed for Donald Trump's campaign only to flame out under a crush of news stories & other pressure 144 days after his hiring. Since his departure from the campaign, countless stories have chronicled his alleged misdeeds, especially those involving millions of dollars, a cushy lifestyle & contacts with Russians and Ukrainians. He will wear a jail-issued jumpsuit for hearings with a judge. When he appears before a jury, he will be allowed to wear clothes that family members bring him. He will be identified by a number, maybe by his last name. If Manafort pleads guilty to white-collar crime or a jury determines him so, a federal prison or prison camp could await him. Inmates are sorted into low- to high-security facilities based on their crimes & histories. Manafort's days will fall into a forced routine. Wake up early, roll call, breakfast. Participate in school or a work program. Lunch, roll call, work. Evenings in your cell or in a common pod with a TV. Repeat.

[quote] he awaits his two trials in July & September after a federal judge revoked his bail for allegedly committing a crime since his arrest.
Would he have gone to jail for witness tampering if he wasn't already on bail?

r127....probably....he would have been arrested and received his charges which would include witness tampering and the prosecutor would have argued that he should not receive bail because of it. The judge would remand him to custody.
