by Anonymousreply 16June 15, 2018 2:59 PM

Spain plays Portugal this afternoon. Gotta watch! It's CR7's last world cup!

by Anonymousreply 17June 15, 2018 3:19 PM

Not sure about Germany... I'm hoping England will go far...they have a talented team. France and Brazil also very good.

by Anonymousreply 18June 15, 2018 3:20 PM

What is soccer?

by Anonymousreply 19June 15, 2018 3:21 PM

I'm watching Spain V Portugal now. CR7 has diamond earrings.

I'm rooting for Portugal. I dislike Costa, the traitor.

First half break. Oz and France nil-nil. Some of the most boring football ever.

by Anonymousreply 31June 16, 2018 10:51 AM

France scored on a penalty kick.

by Anonymousreply 32June 16, 2018 11:14 AM

Australia got a penalty kick too and scored. 1-1 now.

by Anonymousreply 33June 16, 2018 11:18 AM

The French player lost his shoe. LOL!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 34June 16, 2018 11:28 AM

That ball was barely over the line lmao. France 2-1 now.

by Anonymousreply 35June 16, 2018 11:37 AM

That was NOT a goal. Rubbish!!!!

by Anonymousreply 36June 16, 2018 11:39 AM

R36 It was, the replay clearly shows it was over the line.

by Anonymousreply 37June 16, 2018 11:40 AM

2-1 France. In a bit over an hour Argentina vs Iceland. Poor little Iceland.

by Anonymousreply 38June 16, 2018 11:53 AM

R38 Don't count them out yet. Iceland managed to qualify, which is more than can be said about my country.

by Anonymousreply 39June 16, 2018 11:56 AM

Iceland was a big surprise in the last euro. And frankly Argentina has so much pressure that if the match gets complicated it would end very bad for them. Messi is an amazing in player in Barcelona when he has a lot of great players playing for him, but on Argentina he is not the same

by Anonymousreply 40June 16, 2018 12:01 PM

R40 Argentina had a very tough qualifying. At one point it was not clear whether they would qualify or not, they obviously did though. My point is just... they have not been that convincing before the cup, so who knows what will happen.

by Anonymousreply 44June 16, 2018 12:56 PM

Okay, so Reykjavik will be celebrating for a week. Wish I was there!

by Anonymousreply 48June 16, 2018 2:14 PM

Iceland missed so many chances. Hopefully they can hang on. a draw is OK

by Anonymousreply 49June 16, 2018 2:21 PM

Messi missed omg

by Anonymousreply 50June 16, 2018 2:22 PM

yeah. Messi never plays well for country lol

by Anonymousreply 51June 16, 2018 2:23 PM

Argentina is definitely the better team right now though.

by Anonymousreply 52June 16, 2018 2:24 PM

Players from Iceland are all very tall.

by Anonymousreply 53June 16, 2018 2:24 PM

R53 They are masculine and tall, they look like vikings.

by Anonymousreply 54June 16, 2018 2:26 PM

Tall and so pale white

by Anonymousreply 55June 16, 2018 2:27 PM

yeah, I love it that the coach is still a part time dentist LOL.

oh did you see the tunnel camera earlier? Caught one Icelandic player grabbing his cock.

by Anonymousreply 56June 16, 2018 2:29 PM

R55 What do you expect, they hardly get any sun. Also, it's in their DNA. Nordic people are pale. I'm Norwegian so I know what I'm talking about, lol. Well, I think now is an exception because we've had sun and hot temps for weeks and people have taken advantage of it. Lots of people here are really tanned these days.

by Anonymousreply 57June 16, 2018 2:31 PM

That should have been a penalty kick for Argentina. WTF?!

by Anonymousreply 58June 16, 2018 2:36 PM

This referee fucking sucks.

by Anonymousreply 59June 16, 2018 2:37 PM

Messi couldn't hit the side of a barn if he's not being paid.

by Anonymousreply 60June 16, 2018 2:41 PM

wow, messi missed again.

by Anonymousreply 61June 16, 2018 2:42 PM

yes, but South American players are great divers.

by Anonymousreply 62June 16, 2018 2:44 PM

Messi's shot accuracy based on 9 shots - 33%.

by Anonymousreply 63June 16, 2018 2:44 PM

by Anonymousreply 64June 16, 2018 2:45 PM

Great save from the Icelandic goalie.

by Anonymousreply 65June 16, 2018 2:46 PM

The players from Iceland need to spend more time in the gym. they are skinny for soccer players.

by Anonymousreply 66June 16, 2018 2:50 PM

Argentina was clearly the best team today. Iceland is lucky they have such a good goalie.

by Anonymousreply 67June 16, 2018 2:55 PM

Tecko Iceland Argentina. In a bit over an hour Peru vs. Denmark. Pass. Thanx gentlemen!

by Anonymousreply 68June 16, 2018 2:55 PM

what a stupid cunt, the fox commentater in the US says Iceland beats Argentina 1-1.

by Anonymousreply 69June 16, 2018 2:57 PM

Americans don't understand football.

by Anonymousreply 70June 16, 2018 2:58 PM

Soccer players are generally skinny and undeveloped

by Anonymousreply 71June 16, 2018 3:00 PM

Diego Maradona is there!!

by Anonymousreply 72June 16, 2018 3:00 PM

Referee should never be refereeing again. He should be ashamed. Several decisions went against Argentina, the most important was a penalty kick. They were literally robbed.

by Anonymousreply 73June 16, 2018 3:00 PM

LOL Even the Icelandic ex-player they're interviewing agreed that Argentina was robbed of a penalty kick and that Iceland got lucky!

by Anonymousreply 74June 16, 2018 3:02 PM

Diego Maradona of course, thinks he's better than Messi. He definitely played better for his country than Messi.

by Anonymousreply 75June 16, 2018 3:04 PM

The Argentina coach didn't even want to shake hands with the Icelandic coach. no class.

by Anonymousreply 76June 16, 2018 3:05 PM

This WC is awesome, amazing moments!

by Anonymousreply 77June 16, 2018 3:05 PM

They also showed a shot of Icelandic people cheering in Iceland... during heavy rain and they're all wearing a ton of clothes lmao. That is just SO Icelandic. They always have shitty weather.

by Anonymousreply 78June 16, 2018 3:06 PM

R76 Can you blame him? The review showed they were robbed of a penalty kick. I would be pissed off too.

by Anonymousreply 79June 16, 2018 3:06 PM

You can't blame the refs, how many chances did Argentina miss? Messi missed penalty, several shots on goal...they could have scored.

by Anonymousreply 80June 16, 2018 3:07 PM

So what, R80? That doesn't change the fact that they were ROBBED of a penalty kick! The review clearly showed that it should have been a penalty kick. The commentators were baffled when the ref didn't blow his whistle but instead continued the play.

by Anonymousreply 81June 16, 2018 3:09 PM

This is hilarious 😂😂😂

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 84June 16, 2018 3:13 PM

R83 Thanks, that explains a lot. I will never forgive him for robbing Argentina of that penalty kick. Yes, there's a chance Messi would have missed again, but we will never know.

by Anonymousreply 85June 16, 2018 3:15 PM

the point is, they shouldn't have let the final result be determined by the ref. Should have taken all the chances they were given. yes, it's unfair but that is life. It has happened many times to my team as well.

Argentina plays Croatia next Thurs.

by Anonymousreply 86June 16, 2018 3:21 PM

I wonder how many refs are on the take? Wouldn't surprise me.

by Anonymousreply 87June 16, 2018 3:21 PM

R86 Yeah, I agree. Of course it's Argentina's own fault. They have plenty of chances but they missed. I'd even say Argentina was by far the better team (I think the stats will show that too). But Iceland was effective and defended well, they deserve credit for that.

by Anonymousreply 88June 16, 2018 3:23 PM

Well it is only their first game, probably too nervous? But they are pros, should be used to it...I'm sure they will get better. And they have a very good player Gonzalo Higuaín, did he even play? He's a fatty but scores a lot for Juventus.

by Anonymousreply 89June 16, 2018 3:25 PM

Oh, it probably doesn't help that the balls, made by Adidas are shite! According to daily mail article...(i've copied and pasted the paragraph)

When adidas put forward their design for a beautifully crafted World Cup ball for the showpiece tournament, they were probably hoping it would be able to last out a game.

Well, either France and Australia were hitting the gas too hard or someone in the German sports brand's design department got things a little wrong.

A 50/50 challenge saw the air knocked out of one ball, while its replacement suffered the same fate less than 15 minutes later.

Oh, and if you fancy buying one, the 'stadium standard' replica will set you back £130.

by Anonymousreply 90June 16, 2018 3:32 PM

My god these Danes are all gorgeous!

by Anonymousreply 91June 16, 2018 3:54 PM

Danish people are hot. Too bad their language is so ugly.

by Anonymousreply 92June 16, 2018 3:57 PM

oh, they have a very good GK, plays for lecister city, Kasper Schmeichel

by Anonymousreply 93June 16, 2018 3:57 PM

Danish kids learn the language slower than kids from other countries learn their own language. That's how unintelligible the Danish language is. I'm Norwegian and I SHOULD understand the language, considering it's very similar to my language, I just don't understand a single word they say. They always mumble their and swallow their words. I have no problem understanding Swedish, but Danish is a pain in the ass.
A 15-month-old Croatian child understands approximately 150 words, while a Danish child of the same age understands just 84 on average.
It’s not because Danish kids are dumb, or because Croatian kids are geniuses. It’s because Danish has too many vowel sounds, according to Dorthe Bleses, a linguist at the Center for Child Language at the University of Southern Denmark.
“The number of vowels has big significance for how difficult it is to learn a language. Many vowels makes a difficult language,” Bleses told Weekendavisen newspaper in 2011.
But written Danish is not the issue. The problems start when Danes speak. In spoken speech, Danish actually has some 40 vowel sounds, explained Bleses, depending upon where the vowels are placed in words and sentence strings.
To make matters worse, modern Danes ‘swallow’ lots of the remaining consonants that would create more audible definition, or annunciation, between words. Linguists call it ‘reduction’ or ‘ellision’. It is how ‘probably’ becomes ‘probly’ in American English. In Danish, it is how ‘spændende’ becomes ‘spen-nă’, and how a simple, little sentence like ‘Det er det‘ becomes ‘dā-ă-dā’ …

Germany will win 4-0. Calling it now.

by Anonymousreply 132June 17, 2018 3:12 PM

Your ignorance is what is disgusting R131. Both male and female same-sex sexual activity are legal in Serbia, and discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is banned. Nevertheless, households headed by same-sex couples are not eligible for the same legal protections available to opposite-sex couples.

In June 2017, Ana Brnabić became the Prime Minister of Serbia, as the first woman and first openly gay person to hold the office, and the second female LGBT head of government overall (after Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir of Iceland). She was also the first Serbian Prime Minister to attend a pride parade.

On 26 March 2009, Parliament approved a unified anti-discrimination law which prohibits, among other things, discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and transgender status in all areas.[17]

On 5 July 2011, the Parliament approved a youth law, prohibiting discrimination on the ground of sexual orientation.

On 24 December 2012, the Serbian Parliament approved changes to the Penal Code to introduce the concept of a "hate crime", including on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.

In 2010, the Serbian Army agreed that gay and bisexual men and women may openly serve in the professional army, but that news was not broadcast widely across media. Nevertheless, Serbian LGBT rights activists transmitted the news within their communities, encouraging people to apply.

by Anonymousreply 138June 17, 2018 3:38 PM

R133 NOTHING you say changes the FACTS that most Serbians disapprove of homosexuality and condone VIOLENCE to disrupt gay events. Come on, you can do better than that. The fact that you have the GALL on a gay website nonetheless to try to prove that Serbia is a gay friendly country, lmao. You're so full of shit. Oh, and btw, the ONLY reason Serbia even has anti-discrimination laws in place is because the EU demanded it. That's the only reason. There's no way in hell homophobic Serbia would've ever implemented such laws if that wasn't the case. I see you still haven't commented on the video I posted, which is interesting.

From Wikipedia:
Gays and lesbians continue to face discrimination and harassment in Serbia. [bold]The majority of Serbian people retain strong attitudes against homosexuality.[/bold] There have been numerous instances of violent gay-bashing, the most extreme during the first Belgrade Gay Pride in 2001.
[bold]Several pride events have had to be cancelled.[/bold]
[bold]The protection of LGBT people in Serbia is further complicated by the existence of various nationalist and neo-nazi associations like 'Obraz', '1389' and 'Stormfront', which are supported by some right-wing political parties. These groups have, on several occasions, made their threats to LGBT people publicly known.[/bold]

by Anonymousreply 139June 17, 2018 3:45 PM

by Anonymousreply 140June 17, 2018 3:46 PM

My mexican neighbors were going nuts this morning , woke me up And apparently a small earthquake was detected in mexico right after the goal lol Did Chicharito play?

by Anonymousreply 186June 18, 2018 6:54 PM

There's nothing better than seeing England flop in a big tournament so I hope Tunisia can hold out in the second half. But England could have easily scored 3 or 4 in the first half and surely one or two will go in the second half.

by Anonymousreply 187June 18, 2018 7:00 PM

I knew it, it was just a question of time before England scored.

by Anonymousreply 188June 18, 2018 7:51 PM

Tunisian players and fans weeping. But that was a great header from Kane.

by Anonymousreply 195June 18, 2018 8:41 PM

I actually have liked Sir Harry of Kane for a few years. He's a great player; wish his accent wasn't so thick so I could better understand him (and yes, I acknowledge that is my American problem, not his)

Two very good goals.

by Anonymousreply 196June 18, 2018 8:43 PM

Thank you R195

by Anonymousreply 197June 18, 2018 8:52 PM

Harry Kane's jaw is fucked up, he really needs surgery. His bite is messed up, if you've seen him talk. I've met many of the players including Kane and he is a gent. Dele Ali, I was surprised how tall he was and very slim!

by Anonymousreply 198June 18, 2018 9:03 PM

How the fuck did Russia get the world cup? The whole stadium (including the pitch) was swarming with nasty bugs ugh.

R187 needing luck to beat the worst team in the field (along with saudi arabia) is already flopping though I expect Panama to beat them.

by Anonymousreply 202June 18, 2018 9:47 PM

In the real world Tunisia is the top African team by FIFA ranking and ahead of, for example, Italy. There are several poorer teams in the contest, not just SA.

by Anonymousreply 203June 18, 2018 9:49 PM

R202, Panama looked worse against Belgium than Tunisia against England. Granted Belgium has 2 world class players in Hazard and de Bruyne, but Panama were completely out-classed. At least Tunisia made it competitive. England and Belgium should progress from the group. Though of course, I would love to see Panama pull one over the Englishmen.

And I wouldn't classify scoring a late-scoring goal luck especially since England had multiple chances to kick a few in. They were wasteful in front of goal but the number of opportunities also shows England had the upper hand.

by Anonymousreply 204June 18, 2018 9:58 PM

My question is when they swing/flip their head to hit the header...from one side to another with such force...i'm sure it's strained at the very least. it would hurt me.

by Anonymousreply 205June 18, 2018 11:57 PM

I swear to God, fucking FB is spying. I was typing about mosquitoes this afternoon and now I see an ad for OFF! bug spray. It has happened before as well. I was commentating on American Express Black card months ago and saw an ad not long after for the damn company. Fucking spying cunts!

by Anonymousreply 206June 19, 2018 1:03 AM

R205, there’s actually a question about whether this causes concussions.

by Anonymousreply 207June 19, 2018 1:29 AM

Belgium has a half-dozen or more world class players.

by Anonymousreply 208June 19, 2018 1:47 AM

I think I speak for us all when I say I will not rest until I find his killer

by Anonymousreply 209June 19, 2018 2:07 AM

Damn, R210, I thought someone had taken Kane out.

by Anonymousreply 211June 19, 2018 2:38 AM

R208, I forgot about Courtois as he's one of the very best keepers in the world. But when I say world-class, I don't mean a very, very good but a player who is utterly magical. Kane scores a lot of goals but I don't consider him world class. Ronaldo and Messi are the top two and after them a dozen or so world class players. KDB, Hazard, Salah, Silva, Iniesta, et al. I don't think 6 of them are on the Belgium team.

Columbia sticks an arm out to prevent a goal (Japan scored the penalty) and then referee awards them a freekick for a nothing incident, from which they score. 1-1. They are 1 man down but Japan have been useless. The ref needs a refresher course--that freekick call was a disgrace.

by Anonymousreply 216June 19, 2018 1:02 PM

Why can't they use that new instant replay thing to look at that so-called foul they called on Japan that led to the score for Colombia?

by Anonymousreply 217June 19, 2018 1:03 PM

Apparently VAR can't be applied to free kick calls outside of the penalty. I understand that since there are so many foul calls during the 90 minutes and you don't want the game to bog down with too many VAR checks. Still, that call was terrible and more so because it led to a goal.

Japan has perked up in the 2nd half. As well as they should as they are a man up. Anything less would be shaming. Hopefully they'll get the 2nd goal.

by Anonymousreply 218June 19, 2018 1:17 PM

I think the refs are on the take...for sure. at least one or two. I don't believe they are all clean.

by Anonymousreply 219June 19, 2018 1:23 PM

R219, I pretty much figure that's the case for any games involving Russia. They're playing later, if they win by 5 today...

Japan!!!!!!!!!!! GOLAZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

by Anonymousreply 220June 19, 2018 1:30 PM

The big pingas are going down.

by Anonymousreply 221June 19, 2018 1:30 PM

Hope Japan don't close down shop--with a man up, they should go for the 3rd and really put this game out of Columbia's reach.

And they give away a corner....

by Anonymousreply 222June 19, 2018 1:34 PM

Oh yeah, now that they're down 1, Columbia are attacking like crazy and turning it on. That makes for a fun game, but I want Japan to win. They need to make Columbia pay on a counter-attack.

by Anonymousreply 223June 19, 2018 1:36 PM

Clearly Japan's coach isn't listening to me--they're playing keep-away now. Better not let that bite them in the ass...

by Anonymousreply 224June 19, 2018 1:38 PM

I know it's hard to believe but a few of these colombia players do coke. Two of the players were looking for it during a friendly game (in the USA) a few years ago. one of them is still on the team.

by Anonymousreply 225June 19, 2018 1:42 PM

ALL the teams I root for end up losing. I swear I'm fucking cursed.

by Anonymousreply 226June 19, 2018 1:44 PM

I just knew Colombia would lose. FML

by Anonymousreply 227June 19, 2018 1:45 PM

Sorry, it's Colombia.

Footballers doing coke isn't a shocker--whatever country they hail from. Maradona at his peak as the best player in the world (possibly of all time) and he was hoovering up the marching powder.

Yikes this is a nail-biter. Japan needs to get that fucking ball away from their goal.

by Anonymousreply 228June 19, 2018 1:47 PM

by Anonymousreply 231June 19, 2018 1:49 PM

I knew Germany wasn't in good shape, the friendlies they played leading up to the WC weren't that great.

by Anonymousreply 232June 19, 2018 1:50 PM

Also Germany left out Leroy Sane. So stupid.

by Anonymousreply 233June 19, 2018 1:51 PM

by Anonymousreply 235June 19, 2018 1:52 PM

R232 Mexico is tough though they are expected to make the quarters

by Anonymousreply 236June 19, 2018 1:54 PM

I wonder if that player is gonna "meet with an accident" now.

Aww...so sad, my James looking sad....

by Anonymousreply 237June 19, 2018 1:54 PM

Yatta Japan!!! Proud of them, they did what any team should do but don't always--take advantage of being a man up. I don't think they'll do much else in the tournament as they look pretty ordinary. But I'm glad they won, especially after Colombia cheated with the handball and that bullshit freekick call.

by Anonymousreply 238June 19, 2018 1:55 PM

R235, Maradona's inclusion in the Argentina's squad in 1994 was highly controversial and he paid the coach back by testing positive for drugs. Left the USA in disgrace.

by Anonymousreply 239June 19, 2018 1:56 PM

Hey, which players are indebted to mafia or organized crime syndicates in their countries? I heard it's quite common in South America. You guys hear anything of the sort?

by Anonymousreply 240June 19, 2018 1:59 PM

R240, I've heard they are involved in owning rights of some of the players. So when these players make a lucrative move to a big European league--the crime syndicates are getting a cut of the sales fee. Lovely to think where all that Chelsea, Marid, Barca money is going. FIFA are the biggest crime syndicate so they don't care.

by Anonymousreply 241June 19, 2018 2:06 PM

by Anonymousreply 248June 19, 2018 5:59 PM

This game is pretty frenetic though no goals have been scored. Both teams going for it. Egypt because they have to win or at the very least, grab a point. Russia don't have to win but they are playing in front of a home crowd.

by Anonymousreply 249June 19, 2018 6:26 PM

Brazil not looking good. Neymar left training facility, his ankle is fucked. Others will have to step up. They have plenty of fire power in Couthino and others.

by Anonymousreply 250June 19, 2018 6:52 PM
Russian anthem is best anthem in world.

It’s pretty good, but I like Go West a smidge better.

by Anonymousreply 251June 19, 2018 7:06 PM

Egypt are extremely fucked at the moment. They need at least a point to grab a point. They've been attacking but have yet create a particularly good chance. They better hope Salah pulls one out of the hat like he did for Liverpool this season.

by Anonymousreply 252June 19, 2018 7:09 PM

And now they are officially fucked. Russia 2-0. The Egyptian keeper is having a bad day. First goal came from a bad punch of the ball and the 2nd went through his legs.

by Anonymousreply 253June 19, 2018 7:17 PM

Egypt is toast. They are down 2 goals. You can't win with just 1 good player.

by Anonymousreply 254June 19, 2018 7:17 PM

Make it three . . .

by Anonymousreply 255June 19, 2018 7:18 PM

Russians on the way to scoring 5 again. Man, they are much better than I thought or the homecooking really does work. That one wasn't the keeper's fault.

R226

by Anonymousreply 257June 19, 2018 7:22 PM

by Anonymousreply 258June 19, 2018 7:24 PM

Egypt at least get a penalty and goal. Some pride salvaged.

by Anonymousreply 259June 19, 2018 7:30 PM

Russian team has scored the most goals so far. FUCK! draw is totally rigged esp when some crooked fifa official admitted they rigged it in the 90s

by Anonymousreply 260June 19, 2018 7:38 PM

It's okay, let them walk the group stage and then let's see them play a decent team in the knockout rounds. It'll be great for the Russians to be flying high--and then get destroyed by a good team.

I can't believe Zhirkov is still an international player! It seems like he's been around forever.

by Anonymousreply 261June 19, 2018 7:43 PM

Poor Mo. Egypt is a one-man team.

by Anonymousreply 262June 19, 2018 7:50 PM

Somehow Russia ends up in the easiest Group to compete in. Imagine that?

by Anonymousreply 263June 19, 2018 9:06 PM

Their round of 16 opponent may be Spain or Portugal though...Unless something goes crazy in that group.

by Anonymousreply 264June 19, 2018 9:29 PM

I had been rooting for Egypt because I'm a Liverpool supporter and just adore the phenom Mo Salah. That was a weird, unexpected result today, but at least he nailed that penalty kick.

by Anonymousreply 273June 20, 2018 2:53 PM

Russia has been scarily good

by Anonymousreply 274June 20, 2018 2:58 PM

I think Grant Wahl summed it up perfectly. Morocco should have won both games but couldn't. Portugal should have lost both games but didn't. Ronaldo is single handidly keeping them in the tournament

by Anonymousreply 275June 20, 2018 3:00 PM

I'm just here for Iceland

by Anonymousreply 276June 20, 2018 3:00 PM

Russia will play Uruguay next. Let's see how scarily good the Russians are against a half-way team. Uruguay aren't even that good but Cavani and Suarez will need some marshalling. And Godin and Giminez play for Atletico Madrid, one of the stoutest defensive teams in Europe. Godin is one of the best, if not, the centerbacks in the world. If the Russians peel off a couple of goals against Uruguay, then they are deserved winners of the group. Then they will likely have to face Spain or Portugal. If it's Portugal, they have a pretty good chance. Portugal are average at best--they just happen to have the world's best-in-form player lighting it up. They won today but didn't play any better than Morocco.

by Anonymousreply 277June 20, 2018 3:18 PM

Saudi Arabia keeper--if you're going to come out and flap at a corner kick, you actually have to TOUCH the ball. Letting it fly over you will result in an easy goal for Luis Suarez.

by Anonymousreply 278June 20, 2018 3:25 PM

Saudi Arabia is probably the weakest team in the whole tournament.

by Anonymousreply 279June 20, 2018 4:03 PM

R298 damn. I'll be working. Who does ARG play?

by Anonymousreply 299June 20, 2018 6:54 PM

R299, Croatia

by Anonymousreply 300June 20, 2018 6:57 PM

Feels like 2010-2012 over again--Spain dominating possession with the opposition parked in front of the keeper and no goals. Iran knows if Spain scores 1, it's over so they're going to just hold out to the bitter end. Hopefully Spain will score early in the 2nd half and the game will open up a bit.

by Anonymousreply 301June 20, 2018 7:00 PM

Iran is just parking the bus which is such boring football! ugh!!!

by Anonymousreply 302June 20, 2018 7:03 PM

R300 that will be worth watching! I really hope Iceland advances out of the group. I wouldn't mind if it would be at the expense of Messi

by Anonymousreply 303June 20, 2018 7:03 PM

Definitely not "the beautiful game" this afternoon

by Anonymousreply 304June 20, 2018 7:04 PM

Wow. That was close

by Anonymousreply 305June 20, 2018 7:13 PM

Spain deserves to be up. But that was a shit goal

by Anonymousreply 306June 20, 2018 7:15 PM

Fhe games today have been complete and total Bores..

by Anonymousreply 307June 20, 2018 7:18 PM

At last, it was about time. I wouldn't be surprised if now the pace of the match changes dramatically

by Anonymousreply 308June 20, 2018 7:20 PM

The games for the last few days have been so good but yes, today's been a bore. Oh, VAR on Iran's goal...

by Anonymousreply 309June 20, 2018 7:22 PM

I didn't expect Iran to get this many chances after giving up a goal

by Anonymousreply 310June 20, 2018 7:24 PM

Spain better get to the 2nd goal. One fluke bounce and Iran can draw the game. Iran's goal disallowed for offsides.

by Anonymousreply 311June 20, 2018 7:25 PM

Spain is flirting with disaster

by Anonymousreply 312June 20, 2018 7:27 PM

R310, well they have no choice but to go for it. But I also think today's game and the 3 goals allowed in the Portugal shows Spain's defense isn't stout enough. I know, so far, none of the big guns have shown much but I don't think Spain's going to win the WC. They look impressive with the ball, but as soon as the opponent takes it them, they seem very fragile indeed.

by Anonymousreply 313June 20, 2018 7:28 PM

Some of those Irans are so fuckable. If any of em wanna come to UK I will pay for the ticket

by Anonymousreply 314June 20, 2018 7:30 PM

I don't mind coz I don't want spain to go far and fucking hell, the way they all went to grab the ball, it's like a basketball game LOL.

by Anonymousreply 315June 20, 2018 7:30 PM

You guys are fucking crazy, these Iranian cunts will slit your throats and throw you off a building if they could.

by Anonymousreply 316June 20, 2018 7:31 PM

Koke on Iniesta means Spain's favors protecting the 1-0 lead rather than going for the 2nd goal.

by Anonymousreply 317June 20, 2018 7:34 PM

Good drama in Spain-Iran game

by Anonymousreply 318June 20, 2018 7:45 PM

We have seen everyone play at least once. So who's our favorites for the cup? Belgium?

by Anonymousreply 319June 20, 2018 7:54 PM

I don't think there's a clear favourite at this stage. At least that makes it more interesting, I suppose. Even Germany don't seem to be at the top of their game.

by Anonymousreply 320June 20, 2018 9:28 PM

Pretty sure Pepe now holds the record for the most embarrassing dive so far.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 321June 20, 2018 9:30 PM

South American players are famous for diving. That's why I don't like to watch La Liga.

by Anonymousreply 322June 20, 2018 9:50 PM

Germany had a crisis talk after the loss.

by Anonymousreply 323June 20, 2018 9:51 PM

This is so strange. Neymar was seen limping off at practice yesterday and today he is practicing normally. How can the ankle be fucked up and then OK so fast?

by Anonymousreply 324June 20, 2018 9:52 PM

R321, that link didn't work for me, but it's easy enough to search Twitter. Pepe is a career-filled embarrassment. His flops and play-acting really do take the cake, but there have been so much of it this WC. Every touch results in someone falling over and rolling over 5 times, clutching some body part-usually the one which wasn't actually touched. I wish they would VAR this type of offense, even if it's just to humiliate these bozos. Isco was guilty of a few today. Every challenge on him resulted in him splayed out on the ground. And they were the interactions the ref didn't even deem worthy of a foul.

by Anonymousreply 325June 20, 2018 9:54 PM

R324, he is like that. Everything is a crisis with Neymar. I believe that he has broken up with the same woman three or four times, only to reunite with her. So it is possible that he will pull up lame during Brazil's next game even though he seems ok now.

by Anonymousreply 326June 20, 2018 9:57 PM

R326, yes, but I heard it was that lady who broke up with him? He wanted to marry her but she turned him down. Even so, he has said he will always love her and still want to marry her. She is probably just using him for her own career, she is an actress in Brazil

by Anonymousreply 327June 20, 2018 10:00 PM
This WC has been strange. No Italy, Netherlands, USA, and the usual teams are playing like shit.

LOL I'll give you Italy and the Netherlands, but no one is missing the USA, trust me. Ridiculous to put them on that level.

The lady in question must arrive in Russia today. She's going to kiss his boo-boo away! They are together and planning to get married; there's been talk of children to arrive soon. Their ship is called "Brumar" and its a huge thing in Brazil.

by Anonymousreply 339June 21, 2018 11:26 AM

Today my money is on Denmark, Nigeria and a draw between Argentina and Croatia. I really want Iceland to come through though

by Anonymousreply 340June 21, 2018 11:27 AM

30 min to game on, Australia vs. Denmark at Samara Arena, where the temp is 24C.

neymar has already changed his hair again, it's shorter now. so fucking vain. do not ever choose a partner like him, unless he is super rich. They take hours to get ready and it is annoying as fuck! speaking from personal experience.

by Anonymousreply 351June 21, 2018 2:54 PM

I love the tunnel cameras.

oh the camera went up close to Giroud's face, he has some ugly pock marks on his face. but he's ok looking.

by Anonymousreply 352June 21, 2018 2:55 PM

France, Belgium and Russia have been the best teams so far. All other teams have sucked.

by Anonymousreply 353June 21, 2018 3:20 PM

Good for France, but I think Mbappe nick that goal from Giroud. It looked like it would have gone in anyway without Mbappe's touch.

by Anonymousreply 354June 21, 2018 3:36 PM

I would slip Mbappe the D in the shower while Nabil Fekir tosses one off

by Anonymousreply 355June 21, 2018 4:57 PM

I like France's kit. the blue and red socks look good.

by Anonymousreply 356June 21, 2018 5:03 PM

France should be one of the favorites in the next Women's World Cup as well. Being on home turf and all

by Anonymousreply 357June 21, 2018 5:12 PM

Time to watch Messi choke! They should play young kid Dybala

by Anonymousreply 358June 21, 2018 5:17 PM

by Anonymousreply 359June 21, 2018 5:23 PM

by Anonymousreply 360June 21, 2018 5:47 PM

Why all the Messi hate, bitches?

by Anonymousreply 361June 21, 2018 6:00 PM

No, Neymar is straight. I don't want that little scum to be one of us. I know being spanish i should want Argentina to win but argentinians are unbearable when they want., I don't have that problem rooting for Portugal even CR7 is annoying as hell

by Anonymousreply 362June 21, 2018 6:13 PM

Argentina's coach is Inspector Montalbano. If he only could solve the mystery of why a talented team like Argentina can't gel and play fantastic football.

by Anonymousreply 363June 21, 2018 6:41 PM

Argentina is not gonna win the world cup

by Anonymousreply 364June 21, 2018 6:55 PM

Dreadful game: hard fouls, hoofing, missed sitters.

by Anonymousreply 365June 21, 2018 7:00 PM

I don't know why Argentina is considered a favourite, other favourites (Brazil, Spain, Germany) played well during qualifications but Argentina struggled to reach the world cup. Unless Messi gets really inspired the team is not that good to put them in the top contenders

by Anonymousreply 366June 21, 2018 7:02 PM

They are fucked now. How many goalkeeping gaffes have we seen this World Cup? Maybe keepers are in solitary with Loris Karius.

by Anonymousreply 367June 21, 2018 7:12 PM

Argentina playing like zombies. They're about to crash out of the Cup and they're playing with zero urgency. The coach has taken off his jacket, showing his sleeve tattoos and urging his team to wake up.

by Anonymousreply 368June 21, 2018 7:33 PM

I cannot believe this!!! WTF ? This world is upside down. Argentina is out! Coach is gonna be fired!

by Anonymousreply 369June 21, 2018 7:39 PM

Stick a fork in Argentina. Croata scores their second. Was going to comment earlier that Croatia looked more likely to score the next goal than Argentina. And thus it proved to be. Argentina are abject. The phrase, "couldn't score in a brothel" comes to mind.

by Anonymousreply 370June 21, 2018 7:39 PM

Inspector Montalbano on the verge of tears on the sideline!

by Anonymousreply 371June 21, 2018 7:40 PM

That second gol !!

by Anonymousreply 372June 21, 2018 7:40 PM

Argentina is almost ancient History in this Cup. It's sad, I like Messi; he's a good player.

Congratulations to Croatia!

P.S.: Go Iceland!!!

by Anonymousreply 373June 21, 2018 7:40 PM

That was disgusting! Otemendi kicking at the player when he was down! What a fucking cunt!

by Anonymousreply 374June 21, 2018 7:42 PM

Messi ain't getting no golden ball.

by Anonymousreply 375June 21, 2018 7:43 PM

Oatamendi should have been sent off. I hate it when players act like such tough guys when they have been completely shit and their team is getting ass handed it to them.

I swear the Argentine coach is having a breakdown on the sideline.

by Anonymousreply 376June 21, 2018 7:45 PM

Messi is an extremely overrated player. Yes he is very talented, but when you have Xavi and Iniesta playing for you is easy to look really good. On Argentina he never was even remotely the shadow of the player he is in Barcelona. An frankly his last years weren't as good as he usually was. And of course he has a problem, Cristiano can be good or bad on a big match but he always try his best, Messi tends to dissapear if thing don't go his way

by Anonymousreply 377June 21, 2018 7:46 PM

Mathematically speaking, Argentina is not out, yet. Depending on the results of the other matches and if they win over Nigeria, they can classify in 2nd place in their group. But I wouldn't put my money on them!

In time: As I write this, Croatia just scored again! You know what? Kiss Argentina goodbye!!!

by Anonymousreply 378June 21, 2018 7:50 PM

3 - 0! Amazing.

by Anonymousreply 379June 21, 2018 7:50 PM

I agree that Messi has been completely anonymous in this game but to say he is extremely overrated almost doesn't rate a response. I'm not going to recount his entire career but clearly in this game, the problem for Argentina is that Croatia has one of the best midfields in the world and they have dominated. When that happens, it's hard for the opponent to link up to the strikers/attackers. Having said that, Argentina's strikers today have been truly witless when they have had their chances. But it's really tough to beat a team with a strong midfield because they tend to control the game. That was the backbone of the Spanish teams from 2008-2012 when they won three trophies.

by Anonymousreply 380June 21, 2018 7:53 PM

For sure Messi is poorer mentally, I didn't see him do nothing. no desire, no nothing.

maybe croatia is gonna win the world cup.

by Anonymousreply 381June 21, 2018 7:55 PM

have they been kicked out so soon? what a fucking disgrace!

by Anonymousreply 382June 21, 2018 7:56 PM

Wow. This is embarrassing. But they are in weak enough of a group of they could easily qualify with a win over Nigeria.

by Anonymousreply 383June 21, 2018 7:56 PM

Nigeria is good! Did you see them play?

by Anonymousreply 384June 21, 2018 7:58 PM

Five or more years ago, I used to chat with a Man U friend about Messi/Ronaldo. My Man U friend of course favored Ronaldo. Now this was during the time when Messi was seen as superior to Ronaldo by most and though I didn't have the dog in the hunt, I preferred the former. My friend argued Ronaldo was physically and athletically superior to Messi whereas as a purist, I preferred Messi's technical skills and nous. But as they have aged, my friend has been proven correct in some ways. Ronaldo can impose himself on a game in a way that Messi physically can't. Even if he's having an average day, Ronaldo can fight off defenders and score an amazing header. It's not something Messi can do. He can withstand the tackles and go for a great sprint towards goals. Messi, when the dribbling and walking the ball into the penalty doesn't come off--he looks defeated.

by Anonymousreply 385June 21, 2018 8:04 PM

The coach is fucking useless too, all the good players were on the bench and Icardi wasn't even called up.

by Anonymousreply 386June 21, 2018 8:09 PM

If Nigeria wins against Iceland tomorrow that gives Argentina a giant opening to make it through to the round of 16

by Anonymousreply 387June 21, 2018 8:15 PM

Well, they are not going far, they are shit and the team has zero chemistry.

by Anonymousreply 388June 21, 2018 8:17 PM

Fuck it, after seeing that horror show, why would anyone want to watch another game by Argentina? They are horrible to watch and it's only more so because they have zero team spirit. Even when they were only down by 1, I commented that they were playing like zombies.

by Anonymousreply 389June 21, 2018 8:18 PM

Croatia fully deserved their win. Don't know what's going on with Argentina, they were asleep on the job

by Anonymousreply 390June 21, 2018 8:38 PM

Fingers crossed for Iceland to advance

Poor Messi.

by Anonymousreply 394June 21, 2018 10:11 PM

Messi, is not a leader. He wasn't doing shit at all. Piss poor. So many good players on that team, gotta be the stupid coach.

by Anonymousreply 395June 21, 2018 10:15 PM

messi can console himself with my cock

by Anonymousreply 396June 22, 2018 3:15 AM

Messi. Is. Overrated.

He sucks, he sucks, he sucks.

I'm so glad Argentina is a mess.

Vamos Ronaldo!! He's the true superstar!!

by Anonymousreply 397June 22, 2018 3:58 AM

I'm still disappointed at the lack of gossip, gay or otherwise, on this thread.

by Anonymousreply 398June 22, 2018 4:13 AM

I'd cum inside Antoine Greizemen's piquant ass

by Anonymousreply 399June 22, 2018 5:20 AM

Not that he was ever hot, Messi is nasty now with the trashy tats. He definitely went downhill after all those shitty tats.

by Anonymousreply 400June 22, 2018 5:28 AM

Messi looks like a used up male harlot who can no longer get onto the yachts during the Cannes Film Festival. So he must settle for sex in elevators, phone booths and sex clubs where the floors are sticky, filthy and covered in come.

by Anonymousreply 401June 22, 2018 5:36 AM

Brazil or Costa Rica? Neither were that impressive in their first match

by Anonymousreply 402June 22, 2018 11:25 AM

Brazil is warming up. No way CR can hold them the rest of the match

by Anonymousreply 403June 22, 2018 12:37 PM

Not a penalty! Why aren't they carding players for flopping? Brazil should be up though, they have so many chances.

Navas the GK is GK for real madrid. he's very good. He's made a few saves.

by Anonymousreply 406June 22, 2018 1:38 PM

Doesn't look like Brazil can win the WC, can't even put in goal!

by Anonymousreply 407June 22, 2018 1:42 PM

Neymar's GF flew all the way from Rio to Saint Petersburg just to jinx the team! (lol)

R407

Perhaps, they may go to the other phase, but won't go any further.

by Anonymousreply 408June 22, 2018 1:45 PM

by Anonymousreply 410June 22, 2018 1:47 PM

Neymar dreams of being the World's #1, but he'll be forever #3, at best!

by Anonymousreply 411June 22, 2018 1:50 PM

by Anonymousreply 412June 22, 2018 1:54 PM

Neymar is crying like a fucking 5 year old.

by Anonymousreply 413June 22, 2018 1:55 PM

That's Brazil for you--any other team would play keep the ball away and kill the clock. Neymar throws in a showy trick, then they attack and score the 2nd. Could have bitten them in the ass if Costa Rica had gotten the ball off one of Brazil's forays forward and scored an equalizer. But Brazil is Brazil.

by Anonymousreply 414June 22, 2018 1:56 PM

R413

Mentally, he's a 5 year-old! Everyone in the country pampers him. (lol)

by Anonymousreply 415June 22, 2018 1:58 PM

Great strike from little Philippe Coutinho; he’s very important for Brazil.

by Anonymousreply 416June 22, 2018 1:58 PM

VAR is the best thing to happen to the game in a while

by Anonymousreply 417June 22, 2018 2:00 PM

yes, that replay was hilarious, the guy barely touches Neymar and he falls like a ton of bricks to the ground. Players in LaLiga dives too much.

by Anonymousreply 418June 22, 2018 2:03 PM

R416

P. Coutinho is an unsung hero. His goal will be forgotten in favor of praising Neymar's.

P.S.: Now, I must prepare myself for my boys from Iceland. May Odin send them the "berserker' rage!!!

by Anonymousreply 419June 22, 2018 2:05 PM

From the Guardian Minute by Minute coverage:

ITV’s pictures show that Neymar had a word with Bjorn Kuipers in the tunnel at half-time. The Dutch referee told him to do one and eventually booked the Brazilian for dissent in the second half.

As the pressure mounts, Neymar is going to snap and get his ass sent off. He's talented for sure, but such a prat.

by Anonymousreply 420June 22, 2018 2:08 PM

Iceland!

by Anonymousreply 421June 22, 2018 2:12 PM

yes, neymar was bitching with the ref the whole game, he did more bitching and diving than footballing.

by Anonymousreply 422June 22, 2018 2:20 PM

Oh yeah...Iceland coming up!

by Anonymousreply 423June 22, 2018 2:20 PM

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 425June 22, 2018 2:25 PM

Based on what we've seen from Argentina, they couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag much less from this group. There's no guarantee they will beat Nigeria.

by Anonymousreply 426June 22, 2018 2:57 PM

Watching paint dry would be more exciting than this sorry-assed game.

by Anonymousreply 427June 22, 2018 3:48 PM

Well, it just got a lot more interested. Iceland actually has to attack now so that opens up the game. As much as I want to see Iceland do well, I'm also pleased to see an African team win. Don't want the knockout rounds to be Europe versus South America plus Mexico.

by Anonymousreply 428June 22, 2018 4:09 PM

Argentina must have breathed a sigh of relief when Nigeria scored

by Anonymousreply 429June 22, 2018 4:25 PM

Well fuck. Argentina doesn't deserve to go to the knockout rounds but now probably will

by Anonymousreply 430June 22, 2018 4:37 PM

They won't go far even if they get out of group. Their midfield is trash and Messi is not as good as he was 4 years ago.

by Anonymousreply 431June 22, 2018 4:41 PM

They came from the land of ice and snow; they fought hard... But in this (battle)field, Nigeria is stronger. They may have lost the battle, but the war still rages on! There's still hope (mathematically speaking) and they will fight for it: they are paving their way to Valhalla!

Go, Iceland!

Congratulations, Nigeria!

P.S.: I saw on the news that people in Buenos Aires gathered on the streets to watch the game and cheer for Nigeria! (lol)

by Anonymousreply 432June 22, 2018 5:45 PM

Argentina is shite

by Anonymousreply 433June 22, 2018 6:06 PM

Serbia v Switzerland tied at 1 apiece at 79 minutes...

Very hot guys on both teams, of course.

by Anonymousreply 434June 22, 2018 7:38 PM

yeah, i'm digging the Swiss GK. And Shaqiri is stupid for ripping off his shirt. yellow card! and his celebration is dumb!

by Anonymousreply 435June 22, 2018 7:57 PM

Soccer is so stupid

by Anonymousreply 436June 22, 2018 8:03 PM

So Brazil, Serbia & Switzerland could all potentially make it out of Group E. I hope Brazil go through.

by Anonymousreply 437June 22, 2018 9:24 PM

Brazil has too much talent not to make it through...

by Anonymousreply 438June 22, 2018 9:25 PM

Neymar’s little bitch fits have ruined Brazil.

by Anonymousreply 439June 23, 2018 4:36 AM

by Anonymousreply 441June 23, 2018 1:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 442June 23, 2018 1:26 PM

I wouldn't mind Belgium winning it all. It would be great to have a first time winner and see a much-heralded golden generation of players actually fulfill their promise. The potential as been talked about since the 2014 WC and this is likely their peak period. Another 4 years may be a little late for them, though there is the 2020 European Championships. They have two extraordinary talents in Hazard and de Bruyne--so fun to watch. KDB's passing is sublime and Hazard's dribbling is fantastic. For a football fan those are the bits of magic that make a game enjoyable.

by Anonymousreply 443June 23, 2018 1:45 PM

5-1! Belgium are on fire

by Anonymousreply 444June 23, 2018 1:52 PM

Belgium will kick some english ass thursday!

by Anonymousreply 445June 23, 2018 1:53 PM

Batshuayi can't score the easy ones but finally gets his goal from a spectacular effort.

by Anonymousreply 446June 23, 2018 1:53 PM

England simply can't win: Mick Jagger, the world's greatest jinx, is English! ("The jinx is strong with this one.")

Anyway, I'm preparing myself for Germany and Sweden later today.

by Anonymousreply 447June 23, 2018 1:58 PM

No doubt the Teuton-Nordic matchup will be of great interest to DL.

by Anonymousreply 448June 23, 2018 1:59 PM

Mexico needs to win to avoid Brazil in the quarterfinals.

by Anonymousreply 449June 23, 2018 2:01 PM

R448

I have to admit I have a soft spot for Neuer! In fact, I like GKs in general because they are usually the tallest, and Neuer happens to be my favorite.

South Korea versus Mexico--should make Los Angeles interesting for a couple of hours. Celebrations in certain parts of the city will tell you who's done well.

by Anonymousreply 451June 23, 2018 2:52 PM

Lozano is a cutie

by Anonymousreply 452June 23, 2018 3:04 PM

I love Latinos. I always root for the Latin American teams.

by Anonymousreply 453June 23, 2018 3:07 PM

Fox's English commentary is hilarious--for now. Way too much talking. I think another 80 minutes of it may well mean a jump out the window. Two commentators, with thick accents, who are talking exclusively in detail about Mexico and it's clear they have no idea who the South Korean players are.

by Anonymousreply 454June 23, 2018 3:12 PM

R454 they know who their audience is

by Anonymousreply 455June 23, 2018 3:13 PM

I have a feeling South Korea will win. Too many mistakes from Mexico.

by Anonymousreply 456June 23, 2018 3:15 PM

True, but I think the ones who are supporting Mexico fully are going to be watching Telemundo. I may switch over to T myself. Not understanding the language helps with dealing with annoying sports commentary. Note how Mexican play is described in detail with individual players cited. With South Korea--it's a great play by "South Korea." The bias has me rooting for SK. Plus, their keeper either looks like a band boy member or a hot lesbian.

by Anonymousreply 457June 23, 2018 3:19 PM

R557 you will be surprised how many mex americans do not speak spanish.

by Anonymousreply 458June 23, 2018 3:22 PM

R458, no, I know. I grew up in Los Angeles. I just figure, like me, they would prefer the Telemundo broadcast for the atmosphere and all that.

God that was dumb--you put your arm straight like that in the penalty area, what do you expect.

by Anonymousreply 459June 23, 2018 3:24 PM

When did mexico’s players get hot?

by Anonymousreply 460June 23, 2018 3:26 PM

That penalty was a result of the South Korean defender muffing the play a few seconds and it resulted in Mexican possession in the penalty area.

by Anonymousreply 461June 23, 2018 3:29 PM

Are the scream of "fire!" with the free kick, I've gone back to Telemundo. Wow, a lot of Mexican supporters in that stadium.

by Anonymousreply 462June 23, 2018 3:33 PM

Rooting for Mexico and for Argentina to lose the next match and fail to advance to shove it in Maradona’s big fug face.

by Anonymousreply 463June 23, 2018 3:38 PM

Maradona doesn't care as long as he's got his big bag of coke.

by Anonymousreply 464June 23, 2018 3:40 PM

R464 he does after his comments that mexico and usa shouldn’t host the world cup. He will have egg in his face along with the coke.

by Anonymousreply 465June 23, 2018 3:43 PM

Lozana would make a good bottom.

by Anonymousreply 466June 23, 2018 3:44 PM

Well, Maradona is sore about the last time the WC was hosted by the US--he was booted after a failed drug test. Understandably, he doesn't have fond memories of US World Cups.

by Anonymousreply 467June 23, 2018 3:48 PM

You guys really enjoy this povertyball.

by Anonymousreply 468June 23, 2018 3:49 PM

I think Fox has put together a great team of international broadcasters for the games and the pre- and post-games. This team on now calling Mexico / So Korea is enjoyable enough, and they're only on every few days...

The most disappointing live broadcast teams, for me, have been the ones made up of two American men. Something about international football (soccer) calls for accents in the booth.

by Anonymousreply 469June 23, 2018 3:50 PM

R468 shove it in your pussy mary and stay out of the thread if you don’t like it! This is your second” soccer is so stupid” post here.

by Anonymousreply 470June 23, 2018 3:53 PM

r470 Sorry you stuck up bitch but this is incredibly boring and a penalty kick is too damn easy, it's a joke sport and they flop alot

by Anonymousreply 471June 23, 2018 3:54 PM

R471 get a life and stay out of here then bitch let us who enjoy this boring shit post here!

by Anonymousreply 472June 23, 2018 4:00 PM

The ratings for this World Cup are down 44%!

by Anonymousreply 473June 23, 2018 4:02 PM

“Fox's English commentary is hilarious--for now.”

Watch Telemundo instead.

by Anonymousreply 474June 23, 2018 4:03 PM

One of the reasons I love watching the Premier League and World Cup soccer is that there are no time-outs for television. To a lesser extent that's true about Grand Slam tennis, also. Short breaks between sets, and at side changes, but nothing like watching a US football game that drags on and on with the commercial breaks.

With soccer, you know exactly when it starts, and that there won't be commercials until halftime.

by Anonymousreply 475June 23, 2018 4:08 PM

I wonder why lozano doesn’t have a lovable pet name like Chicharito.

by Anonymousreply 476June 23, 2018 4:11 PM

R475, exactly. For almost every game, it's a two hour commitment, from the lowliest league cup game to the World Cup. Sure, once it gets to knockout stages, there is extra-time and penalty kicks and even then you know to add on another 40-45 minutes. Compare that to every single NFL game running 3-4 hours.

If the money-mongers, FIFA, ever try to foist timeouts on us--we better show them torches and pitchforks.

by Anonymousreply 477June 23, 2018 4:12 PM

r477 It's fucking soccer, they don't need timeouts, they can just walk around for 30 minutes while the ball gets kicked around. I like that you think there's no timeouts because you think they want to be commercial free.

by Anonymousreply 478June 23, 2018 4:16 PM

I prefer the British style of commentary--there's no need to describe every play, it's on TV, we can see what's going on. What I don't like about the Fox commentary on now is the over-talking and the lack of modulation. The two guys are on hyper overdrive non-stop. People think the commentary on Telemundo is over the top but it's not. It's relatively sane but punctuated with excited commentary when something is seriously afoot. That's the modulation I'm talking about.

by Anonymousreply 479June 23, 2018 4:18 PM

Why does Chichi's look 40 already jesus what happened?

by Anonymousreply 480June 23, 2018 4:24 PM

R478, what the fuck are you going on about? Of course the way soccer is played works nicely in an environment without timeouts. Where do I say it's because they want it to be commercial-free? As a matter of fact, for the bean-counters, if they could get away with it, they would introduce timeouts. Luckily, for now, they can't get away with it--fans wouldn't tolerate it. The commercials are on the kits, the moving LED billboards surrounding the pitch, the tv scoreline, etc. Long may that last.

It was only a matter of time--Mexico looked like scoring their 2nd for a very long time now.

by Anonymousreply 481June 23, 2018 4:26 PM

R480 well he is 30 already. i think he looks 35ish

by Anonymousreply 482June 23, 2018 4:29 PM

Chicharito's strange, doll-like looks were never going to age well.

R450, there has been credible gossip that Neuer is gay.

by Anonymousreply 483June 23, 2018 4:30 PM

Neuer has to be a top right?

by Anonymousreply 484June 23, 2018 4:31 PM

How the fuck do you not score there..no wonder they're losing. Not a vintage SK team this one. Very, very mediocre. Rightly on 0 points.

by Anonymousreply 485June 23, 2018 4:33 PM

Guys with elfin, pixie looks tend not to age well. It looks great in the 20's but it's impossible to transition into the older handsome look.

by Anonymousreply 486June 23, 2018 4:35 PM

R486 he’s still kind of hot though, cleans up well

The Mexicans are flopping all over the field, the announcers need to call this shit out instead of trying to cover them up like they are legit fouls

by Anonymousreply 488June 23, 2018 4:42 PM

They never call out the south american and latin america teams out for their flopping.

by Anonymousreply 489June 23, 2018 4:44 PM

Go Korea!!

by Anonymousreply 490June 23, 2018 4:51 PM

Golazo by Son, SK's best player of course. What a goal. Too bad it didn't happen about 20 minutes earlier. Very much a consolation goal.

by Anonymousreply 491June 23, 2018 4:51 PM

Would like the germans to get eliminated here but they will probably beat Sweden.

by Anonymousreply 492June 23, 2018 4:57 PM

Oh please, Belgium played Tunisa, they ain't exactly a great side lol.

by Anonymousreply 493June 23, 2018 5:02 PM

Now Sweden up !

Heard lots of rumors about team problems in german team. lots of trouble. not looking good for germany. and those anti gay chants toward the GK ain't helping either.

by Anonymousreply 494June 23, 2018 5:03 PM

R493 assuming it was an english fan, tunisia gave england all they could handle and then some.

by Anonymousreply 495June 23, 2018 5:06 PM
It's fucking soccer, they don't need timeouts, they can just walk around for 30 minutes while the ball gets kicked around.

As opposed to baseball, where not only do plenty of players stand around on the field, and the other side sits around waiting to bat? And yet, plenty of timeouts, especially for big TV games.

by Anonymousreply 496June 23, 2018 5:12 PM

There's no stoppage in soccer but there is stoppage in baseball because the other team has to come to the plate.

by Anonymousreply 497June 23, 2018 5:21 PM

Mexico 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Mexico 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Mexico 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Yes! The little Pea comes through again! Suck it, haters!!!!!

I hope Sweden wins.

by Anonymousreply 498June 23, 2018 5:40 PM

Germany has never not made it out of the first round. It will be a huge escandalo if they dont.

by Anonymousreply 499June 23, 2018 5:42 PM

I love the close ups on all the players. you get to see them with all the all the flaws they air brush away on social media pics.

by Anonymousreply 500June 23, 2018 5:57 PM

alright German. Lets see what youre made of!

by Anonymousreply 501June 23, 2018 5:57 PM

I miss seeing Fernando Torres at a World Cup.

All the pressure is on Germany. Anything less than a win will surely be the end of them.

by Anonymousreply 502June 23, 2018 5:58 PM

Ozil is so fucking ugly but he gets laid like he's james bond.

by Anonymousreply 503June 23, 2018 5:58 PM

I'm disappointed in the attractiveness of these two aryan countries

by Anonymousreply 504June 23, 2018 5:59 PM

Kroos looks good.

by Anonymousreply 505June 23, 2018 6:00 PM

The Swedish curling team was way more attractive then these guys.

by Anonymousreply 506June 23, 2018 6:01 PM

R503, that's probably for every professional soccer player in the world. The backup keeper for Derby County is probably picking up someone at the local pub every weekend.

by Anonymousreply 507June 23, 2018 6:02 PM

What's with the hate against Chicharito here? I think he's really cute.

by Anonymousreply 508June 23, 2018 6:02 PM

Wow, Germany already strong after just 2 minutes.

by Anonymousreply 509June 23, 2018 6:03 PM
Ozil is so fucking ugly but he gets laid like he's james bond.

It's because he's a football player. They always get laid, no matter how ugly they are.

by Anonymousreply 510June 23, 2018 6:04 PM

Germany is clearly the better team, by far.

by Anonymousreply 511June 23, 2018 6:12 PM

It's early, Germany don't have to be that wide open. I know they have to attack but they're lucky they're not 1 down already.

by Anonymousreply 512June 23, 2018 6:15 PM

This game is quite exciting, many chances already. I guess there is a lot at stake, both teams need to win to get to the next round.

by Anonymousreply 513June 23, 2018 6:19 PM

OMG so much blood, that looked like it hurt.

by Anonymousreply 514June 23, 2018 6:25 PM

So, once and for all, is it a wig/toupee?

by Anonymousreply 515June 23, 2018 6:27 PM

Come on, Germany!!!!

by Anonymousreply 516June 23, 2018 6:31 PM

HOLY SHIT SWEDEN!

by Anonymousreply 517June 23, 2018 6:32 PM

Is it possible?! Can Germany already be out of this tournament? OH MY GOD.

by Anonymousreply 518June 23, 2018 6:33 PM

I still think Germany can win this though. Granted, Germany isn't as good as they were the last world cup, but it's not like they're terrible. They've had plenty of chances already.

by Anonymousreply 519June 23, 2018 6:33 PM

Germany fucked because Sweden will be parking the bus now. That's why I wanted Germany to score first even I don't care really who wins. But Germany scoring first would have forced Sweden to play.

This is Spain 2014.

by Anonymousreply 520June 23, 2018 6:33 PM

Oh, my! Was this the first nail on Germany's coffin?

by Anonymousreply 521June 23, 2018 6:34 PM

I have to root for Sweden though, sorry Germany. I'm Norwegian. Sweden are our neighbors. We usually hate Sweden in sports, especially skiing. We have a saying here, "I don't care how we do, as long as we beat Sweden." Lets just say we have a love-hate relationship with them, lol. Anyways, I always root for them if Norway isn't playing, just like now.

by Anonymousreply 522June 23, 2018 6:36 PM

by Anonymousreply 524June 23, 2018 6:39 PM

I don't think Germany have finished lower than 3rd place since 1998, when they went out in the quarter finals. Astonishing to think that they're on the verge of being knocked out already.

by Anonymousreply 525June 23, 2018 6:45 PM

Sweden has been better these last 15 minutes.

by Anonymousreply 526June 23, 2018 6:48 PM
I'm disappointed in the attractiveness of these two aryan countries

Okay, I laughed at that horrible comment.

I like Germany a lot, as a travel destination and I love Angela Merkel as leader of the free world lately, but I am rooting for Sweden just to keep the knockout stage a big, interesting world of chaos

by Anonymousreply 527June 23, 2018 6:51 PM

It's Spain 2014 all over again! I wonder if it's a curse...

by Anonymousreply 528June 23, 2018 6:51 PM

A draw keeps Germany alive but they really need to win this game. If they draw, Sweden only needs to draw against Mexico the final group game. And that works well for Mexico (that's all they need to win in that scenario) so a German win against SK won't matter.

And Germany scores!

by Anonymousreply 529June 23, 2018 7:05 PM

Ugh Germany scored :(

by Anonymousreply 530June 23, 2018 7:06 PM

My mother says it's a Brazilian curse; a payback for that 7 x 1 back in 2014!!! (lol)

by Anonymousreply 531June 23, 2018 7:12 PM

Another nice save by the Swedish GK. Germany clearly the better team in the second half so far.

by Anonymousreply 532June 23, 2018 7:14 PM

Germany shouldn't have left Leroy Sane at home, what a stupid mistake, he wouldn't have missed all the easy chances.

by Anonymousreply 533June 23, 2018 7:18 PM

So a tap-in wasn't enough, Reus had to go for a backheeled goal? Idiot, since he whiffed it.

by Anonymousreply 534June 23, 2018 7:19 PM

What a miss by Gomez.

by Anonymousreply 535June 23, 2018 7:27 PM

really poor finishing by germany.

by Anonymousreply 536June 23, 2018 7:38 PM

Holy shit! Boeteng is OUT with two yellow.

by Anonymousreply 537June 23, 2018 7:40 PM

boteng got a 2nd yellow so now he's off. Germany only playing with 10 men.

Germany GK ain't that good, he hasn't played much, just came back from injury.

by Anonymousreply 538June 23, 2018 7:41 PM

i mean, c'mon, there is nobody famous on the swedish team. they can't even beat sweden, they don't deserve to advance.

by Anonymousreply 539June 23, 2018 7:42 PM

Holy shit! Sweden's GK is amazing.

by Anonymousreply 540June 23, 2018 7:45 PM

The Germans are in serious trouble now.

by Anonymousreply 541June 23, 2018 7:46 PM

Holy shit that was close!

by Anonymousreply 542June 23, 2018 7:49 PM

I swear, none of these fucking overpaid players can put it in! so frustrating to watch!

by Anonymousreply 543June 23, 2018 7:50 PM

Well sweden will have to beat mexico to eliminate germany and mexico will not want to lose to avoid Brazil in the quarterfinals. Sweden must score here to win this a tie gives germany hope.

by Anonymousreply 544June 23, 2018 7:51 PM

That post may mean Germany's World Cup.

R538, Neuer may be rusty but to say he's not very good is ridiculous.

by Anonymousreply 545June 23, 2018 7:52 PM

Holy sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

by Anonymousreply 546June 23, 2018 7:53 PM

Of course! It had to happen.

by Anonymousreply 547June 23, 2018 7:53 PM

by Anonymousreply 548June 23, 2018 7:53 PM

by Anonymousreply 549June 23, 2018 7:53 PM

by Anonymousreply 550June 23, 2018 7:53 PM

hahah go germany!! Putin is probably crying

by Anonymousreply 551June 23, 2018 7:54 PM

Never, say "It's over!" when talking about Germany!

by Anonymousreply 552June 23, 2018 7:54 PM

Kroos had to make that since he was responsible for Sweden's goal. What a strike!

by Anonymousreply 553June 23, 2018 7:54 PM

all the real madrid players playing great, CR7, modric, kroos etc

by Anonymousreply 554June 23, 2018 7:55 PM

No it does not they have to beat south korea, however if they do do beat south korea and Mexico beats sweden, then germany advances to play Brazil lol

by Anonymousreply 555June 23, 2018 7:56 PM

I'm happy for Kroos. He's hot and he plays (or played?) for Real Madrid. I like RM.

by Anonymousreply 556June 23, 2018 7:57 PM

Yeeeeesssss!

by Anonymousreply 557June 23, 2018 7:57 PM

R555 Oh, come on. South Korea sucks. Germany will probably win like 5-0. Just answer yes to my question.

by Anonymousreply 558June 23, 2018 7:59 PM

Germany can barely put the ball in the net. Brazil has a better team than Germany, from what i've seen so far.

by Anonymousreply 559June 23, 2018 8:01 PM

LAST SECOND NOTICE: Party on the streets of Brazil CANCELLED!!!

There was a moment I believed Neuer was going to leave the goal and play with the others!

Congratulations, Germany!

Sweden, you fought like true warriors. Keep your heads up for the next match!

by Anonymousreply 560June 23, 2018 8:02 PM

If Germany beats SK and Sweden beats Mexico, all three finish on 6 points. Here are the tiebreakers:

If two or more teams are equal on the basis of the above three criteria, their rankings shall be determined as follows: Greatest number of points obtained in the group matches between the teams concerned Goal difference resulting from the group matches between the teams concerned Greater number of goals scored in all group matches between the teams concerned Greater number of points obtained regarding fair play conduct (yellow cards = -1, indirect red card (as a result of a second yellow card) = -3, direct red card = -4, yellow card and direct red = -5, with only one of the deductions applied to a player in a single game) Drawing of lots by FIFA

by Anonymousreply 563June 23, 2018 8:08 PM

R558 i doubt they score five goals the koreans have been fiesty they played sweden and mexico just as tough as Germany did. Mexico and germany will advance , germany will play brazil in the knockout stage.

by Anonymousreply 564June 23, 2018 8:11 PM

All three games today have ended with a very late goal

by Anonymousreply 565June 23, 2018 8:14 PM

If Sweden wins 1-0 against Mexico they are through to the next round. Germany will for sure win against South Korea. This means Mexico is eliminated :(

by Anonymousreply 566June 23, 2018 8:15 PM

I really think this result was the nail in the coffin for Mexico. It fucking sucks because Mexico plays with heart and they're by far the most exciting team to watch.I hate Germany's boring playing style.

by Anonymousreply 567June 23, 2018 8:18 PM

Yeah, too bad, I thought Mexico was good too. they are in a tough group.

by Anonymousreply 568June 23, 2018 8:23 PM

I guess it's safe to say that this is the most difficult group of this WC.

by Anonymousreply 569June 23, 2018 8:24 PM

R567, what the fuck are you going on about? Mexico have won both their games. You think they're going to roll over for the Swedes? The latter couldn't even hold off the Germans with a man up. Jesus, I know the group is still up for grabs, even SK has a chance to advance, so I wouldn't bury Mexico just yet. As a matter of fact, they're in the best position since they're the only team who are guarantee to advance with a draw. Realistically, everyone else has to win.

by Anonymousreply 570June 23, 2018 8:24 PM

hey what about boteng, he got a red card, does he play the next game?

by Anonymousreply 571June 23, 2018 8:26 PM

Sweden choked on a big german dick they don’t deserve to advance and probably wont.

by Anonymousreply 572June 23, 2018 8:26 PM

Two yellow cards resulting in a red card = 1 game suspension.

by Anonymousreply 573June 23, 2018 8:29 PM

It took so long for Germany to beat Sweden...Germany is really not as good as it's used to be. Brazil would knock them out if they meet.

by Anonymousreply 574June 23, 2018 8:45 PM

Sweden put up one hell of a fight. I don't know if Germany deserved that win.

by Anonymousreply 575June 23, 2018 8:51 PM

r575 It's soccer, it has probably the worst effort to win ratio, all you have to do is get lucky once and accidentally score and that can be enough to win.

by Anonymousreply 576June 23, 2018 9:33 PM

R556 I don’t find kross hot at all average white guy for sure

by Anonymousreply 577June 23, 2018 9:48 PM

Ok, following up on two remarks upthread about the German team: 8n what way is the German team experiencing trouble inside the team? Some human drama?

And what is the scoop on Neuer being gay? Never heard about that before. I know he has no problem dumping his female companions. But never heard about him being gay. He looks like tiny meat, so I would opt for him as my bottom.

by Anonymousreply 578June 23, 2018 10:01 PM

German coach Low picked his nose and ate it ON CAMERA AGAIN! fucking gross!!!!

by Anonymousreply 579June 23, 2018 10:24 PM

Ewww, straight sportsmen do that all the time. I used to play in a team sport and always noticed my teamates reaching for their balls and then sniff their hand.

Argentina squad revolt after attempted coup to axe manager Jorge Sampaoli fails.

Lionel Messi and Co are understood to have demanded the head of the former Chile boss in the wake of the humiliating defeat by Croatia.

The 2014 finalists were given a lifeline by Nigeria’s win over Iceland and would be odds on to reach the last 16 if they can beat the Africans in St Petersburg in Tuesday.

But that was the prompt for senior players to tell Argentine FA chiefs in crisis talks they had lost any trust in the coach.

The crunch meeting on Friday night saw the 23 squad members demand a meeting at the team hotel with Sampaoli, his coaching staff and Argentine FA President Claudio Tapia.

Javier Mascherano was said to have been the leader of the attempt to force out Sampaoli, with the midfielder demanding change at the helm as part of a “pact for life” before the Nigeria game.

The players wanted 1986 World Cup winning midfielder Jorge Barruchaga, currently the general manager of the national side, to replace Sampaoli.

One of Burrachaga’s 1986 team-mates, Ricardo Giusti, a close friend of the general manager, the mood was brutal.

Giusti said: "The players want to build the team.

“They told Sampaoli and Tapia that they are going to pick the side. Sampaoli can sit on the bench if he wants, but it won’t matter. It will be nothing to do with him.”

Sampaoli switched from a defensive quartet against Iceland to three at the back for the disastrous Croatia defeat, leaving his squad unconvinced the coach had any strategic planning.

It was also claimed that Mascherano and striker Cristian Pavon came to blows in the dressing room after the Croatia match when the former Liverpool midfielder lashed out verbally at blunder keeper Willy Caballero.

Despite the demands of the players, Sampaoli was given a stay of execution by Tapia after being summoned to the President’s room at Argentina’s base in Bronnitsy, 60 miles outside Moscow. Sampaoli, though, was told that while he will stay on as coach for the rest of the World Cup, he WILL be sacked at the end of the tournament.

It was suggested that the FA wants Sampaoli to quit but that would mean him giving up claims for a pay-off.

Yet the uneasy peace is fragile and may not hold until Tuesday, with the certainly that an Argentine exit will bring further finger pointing and a renewed blame-game.
