I don't think it's even about Armie and TC per se - they're certainly not the only threads about straight celebs that feature regularly around here, nor are the threads as a whole much sillier than a lot of the shit that gets posted here. As for massive activity - the last Armie thread had been going for a while and still had a few hundred posts to go before filling up...the activity on these threads is nowhere near what it was a couple of months ago, so the idea that loads of threads are being generated and filling up quickly is not true. However, to be totally honest, I don't think there are very many actual Dataloungers left posting on them, and that may be part of Muriel's issue. I don't visit the TC thread, but I know the Armie thread very obviously has a lot of people who are almost certainly female, and who don't post about anything other than CMBYN-related stuff on the site. Maybe it gives Muriel Prancing Pony flashbacks. IDK.

Back in January when it was announced Armie will do the play he said in an interview that he was going to move the whole family in NYC over the summer. Haven't followed them for long, (Dec last year) so I don't know how they were before. In comparison right now things seem... cold. After Austin they moved the family to NOLA and she traveled regularly to LA. Why not now? What happened at the Tonys? Well tomorrow is father's day. Let's see how things go for them. Last year he went to Toronto, New York, London all for film festivals and she didn't go. He was also in Montreal filming On the Basis of Sex and she wasn't there for any of that either. They were apart for like 5 weeks in a row. In this case they were apart for 10 days or so then presumably saw each other in LA this time last week. It's nothing in comparison. People complain that she follows him around and then when she doesn't they insist something is up. Harper has been at school and now she's just wrapping things up in LA while he's busy rehearsing all day and learning lines all night before he starts performances. R567 I think that was the most obvious thing in all universe. For Tim, this Oscar campaign was his first one and you could clearly see how well Armie behaved and supported him. They’ friends for God’s sake. I really hate those people who write that Armie only seeks attention when he mentions Tim, it’s not true at all. Also, you could clearly see how he taught him to straighten up because he really has bad posture and how to look at the camera when they did the European tour and so on. Tim stans should really get a life and be done with it.

Yeah, and now I think we have a better idea of what was going on at the time of Armie bailing from the Tonys. It's been apparent from day one that Tom Skerritt is not well, and the production has probably been facing the possibility that he would not be able to fulfill his obligation to the play ever since rehearsals started. It may even be that back when Armie didn't appear and had that unexpected time off in LA (that went undocumented for once by Liz) that they were trying to figure out what to do behind the scenes - search for a last-minute replacement, delay the run or just cancel altogether. If the play's fate was somewhat up in the air at that point, it would make sense that they would choose not to have Armie present at the awards. It would also make sense that Liz might be told by Armie not to announce his presence in LA under those circumstances, because he wouldn't want to deal with any questions about things. Unfortunately he sort of blew his own cover by going to the movies with that guy.

R573, hopefully all will go smoothly for the play but like R552 said, it's usually not a great thing when a play has to replace a lead so close to opening - especially in this case, a well-known name being replaced by a much less well-known one. And from an actor's perspective It's almost like they'll be starting rehearsals over again.

It's unfortunate the timing but not the actor who replaced him, as he is very respected, well known and not second to Tom in terms of talent. Anyway things like this happen quite often, actors being replaced in the middle of a play for a simple flu, I mean that's theater and that's also the charm of it.

R582 not sure what IG likes you are talking about but him having a conversation with Timmy is just interacting with a friend. I doubt he thinks to himself about whether it's distancing himself from CMBYN or not before he does it. And there would be no need to bring him up on Fallon unless he was directly asked about him.

It's his most recent film (no1curr about Final Portrait) and his most beloved since The Social Network so for the time being he will be asked about it. It does suck that none of the CMBYN fans seem as excited about Armie's future projects as they are about Timmy's but I tend to agree that once he gets in promo and campaign mode for OTBOS, which should be a high profile release, the media at least will lay off asking about CMBYN. Likewise Luca with Suspiria.

R590 It's not that I mind. Honestly I can listen to him talk about cmbyn for hours. It's just that for most cmbyn fans that's his only relevance. They are not interested in his new projects like they are in Tim's. For example, STBY is a thousanfd fold better film than Hot summer nights but people in twitter act like that the latter is reinventing summer cinema. It's unfortunate & frustrating

Well I do get it to an extent. I think it's fair to say that most people find Timmy a more exciting and interesting performer to watch. And he's the lead in HSN compared to Armie having an extended cameo in STBY. But that doesn't mean it's cool to bombard Armie's mentions with CMBYN and Timmy even when it's not relevant or to not allow him to move on to other things. It's a testament to Armie and perhaps their friendship too that he doesn't let it bother him. The worst was in Austin when people showed up to scream for Timmy and meet him when Armie was the one being rewarded. To the point where one of Armie's few Twitter stans (someone that actually prefers him to Timmy and has interest in all of his projects) didn't get to meet him because he thought everyone outside was there for Timmy so he and Elizabeth just left straight away.
