He got badly burned in an accident on the set of Powers of Matthew Star. I imagine he got a good settlement from the network.

Boyishly handsome but but no talent. No wonder he retired early with his fortune.

I really liked him in the Burke's Law reboot.

I guess he dropped the soap on purpose and really did want Paul to join him in the shower.

He always looked asexual to me

Rock Hudson took him under his wing. And probably took him many times.

I never could get into him. His terminal cuteness was more than I could stand to watch.

Fun Fact: Tom Cruise auditioned for Matthew Starr and almost got it.

He used to live in the same apartments building as one of my friends-this was in the early 90’s, during the tail end of his stint on Y &R. I was a huge Y &R fan so I had her introduce me & we hung at his apartment a few times. We were both underage girls (11 & 10) so of course he didn’t hit on us, but he was also cool with hanging out with 11 year olds for some reason. I had read in one of my mom’s soap mags that he just split from Lisa Rinna, so being the uncouth pre-teen I was, I mentioned that to him & he got kind of sad. I always regret bringing that up to him. He was super nice. Like, beyond nice. Didn’t give off a gay vibe at all, but then again I was young, it was early 90s and I didn’t really even know what gay was, yet.

On the commentary track for "Hell Night" the director/producer commented that they all thought Barton was so nice and liked his character so much that they (SPOILER ALERT!) hated having him thrown out the window.

He did look a little like Donny Osmond, but Donny was hotter.

R2 I believe initial reports said that his back was burned. UPI later reported that "he required three skin grafts and plastic surgery but has 'healed beautifully.' " This photo from 2012 of him in the swimming pool with his daughter would seem to validate that. Although, that could be a scar on his shoulder?
