Trump speaking now...

He looks (and sounds) very, very ill.

by Anonymousreply 195June 13, 2018 7:57 PM

Doubles down on Kim being "very talented" in response to reporter's question about Otto Warmbier.

Says Otto's parents are very good friends of his. And today's talks couldn't have been possible without Otto.

by Anonymousreply 1June 12, 2018 8:24 AM

Spinning like something was actually achieved. He does sound very tired and out of it.

by Anonymousreply 2June 12, 2018 8:25 AM

He is really spacing out.

by Anonymousreply 3June 12, 2018 8:26 AM

He has Sundowner's so he will end up going off the rails the later it gets

by Anonymousreply 4June 12, 2018 8:27 AM

Saying No. Korea took billions of dollars from the Clinton "regime" but Kim has not had any faith in any POTUS til Trump.

by Anonymousreply 5June 12, 2018 8:28 AM

Confusing reporters now. Can't tell who is who.

by Anonymousreply 6June 12, 2018 8:29 AM

Talking about getting letters, calls and "wheats" wanting body parts back.

by Anonymousreply 7June 12, 2018 8:30 AM

(fingers crossed) please sweet baby Jesus, let him have a massive stroke!

by Anonymousreply 8June 12, 2018 8:30 AM

Getting the remains back of people who died? Huh? How does that happen?

by Anonymousreply 9June 12, 2018 8:31 AM

Claims this is why he won. To do this.

by Anonymousreply 10June 12, 2018 8:32 AM

I wonder who he confused for John Roberts? Please let him slip up and look like a fool in this press conference.

by Anonymousreply 11June 12, 2018 8:33 AM

Ill? Are you implying he has some STD that is rotting him from inside?

by Anonymousreply 12June 12, 2018 8:33 AM

Claims we will get more in the agreement then what is listed because this is how he (Trump) does things.

by Anonymousreply 13June 12, 2018 8:33 AM

How convenient he has the press conference before they can read the document, that way they can't call him out on it being useless.

by Anonymousreply 14June 12, 2018 8:35 AM

North Korea is "rough." But it is rough in a lot of places.

by Anonymousreply 15June 12, 2018 8:36 AM

“Scientifically.”

by Anonymousreply 16June 12, 2018 8:36 AM

Looking forward to taking off the sanctions.

by Anonymousreply 17June 12, 2018 8:37 AM

Just keep rambling... the more he talks he will end up stepping in it.

by Anonymousreply 18June 12, 2018 8:39 AM

He was given a very tough hand but doing really well. Blames past administrations.

Iran is a different country than they were 4 months ago. Not as "confident."

Sanctions are brutual.

by Anonymousreply 19June 12, 2018 8:39 AM

"I did this and the Iran deal because nuclear is #1. Nuclear is always #1."

#1 what?

by Anonymousreply 20June 12, 2018 8:40 AM

His face reminds me of the Bridget Jones movie where her mother says the tv host's skin was purple, that's how tRump looks right now.

by Anonymousreply 21June 12, 2018 8:40 AM

He knows a lot about airplanes.

Very expensive.

Very provactive.

by Anonymousreply 22June 12, 2018 8:41 AM

Not sick but tired. He's had a long high pressure day. Handling himself well. Easily in control of the press.

by Anonymousreply 23June 12, 2018 8:41 AM

Claims not have slept in 25 hours.

Cocaine???

by Anonymousreply 24June 12, 2018 8:42 AM

R23, are you high?

by Anonymousreply 25June 12, 2018 8:42 AM

The fucking Democrats need to have a swift rebuke of Trump's failed Summit of smoke and mirrors. Kim played Trump for the fool that he is.

by Anonymousreply 26June 12, 2018 8:42 AM

r23 no the press is being polite

by Anonymousreply 27June 12, 2018 8:43 AM

Why are the circles around his eyes so bright? Is that supposed to be the color of his entire face?

by Anonymousreply 28June 12, 2018 8:43 AM

He just said a "rector" scale.

by Anonymousreply 29June 12, 2018 8:44 AM

r28 white under his eyes and then bright orange blusher

by Anonymousreply 30June 12, 2018 8:45 AM

Christina Wilkie, CNBC:

The two flags, the American and DPRK’s, side by side are a stunning propaganda victory for Kim.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 31June 12, 2018 8:46 AM

The press is talking so calmly to him like he is a mental patient. They know he will throw a snit fit so they have to handle him with kid gloves.

by Anonymousreply 32June 12, 2018 8:47 AM

There is NO TIME!

NO TIME!!!

by Anonymousreply 33June 12, 2018 8:47 AM

For the love of Christ, please someone ask about Manafort going to prison on Friday.

I want to see him stroke out.

by Anonymousreply 34June 12, 2018 8:48 AM

So all the supposed denuclearization stipulations are just verbal, and not in the signed document....um....OK.

by Anonymousreply 35June 12, 2018 8:50 AM

He made home movies on his iPad for Kim?

by Anonymousreply 36June 12, 2018 8:50 AM

Just making up numbers now about trade.

17 ...100 ....270% ....295%

by Anonymousreply 37June 12, 2018 8:52 AM

[quote]He looks (and sounds) very, very ill.

Let's hope Trump is dying.

by Anonymousreply 38June 12, 2018 8:52 AM

The Korean agreement is shit. It's a repeat of the 2005 agreement. Actually, the 2005 agreement was stronger.

by Anonymousreply 39June 12, 2018 8:54 AM

They cut the sound on the black woman's mic

by Anonymousreply 40June 12, 2018 8:54 AM

Maybe Kim Jong Un slipped him a mickey

by Anonymousreply 41June 12, 2018 8:54 AM

Mocking Canada now and saying "they are going to lose a lot of money now."

by Anonymousreply 42June 12, 2018 8:55 AM

Meeting again next week to iron out details.

by Anonymousreply 43June 12, 2018 8:56 AM

"Can I ensure that you are going to be able to sit down properly?"

Now it is getting weird.

by Anonymousreply 44June 12, 2018 8:59 AM

R42, is Trump aware that many Americans are going to lose money now?

by Anonymousreply 45June 12, 2018 9:00 AM

Scientically!

Mechanically!

by Anonymousreply 46June 12, 2018 9:03 AM

Lol Lil Kim poisioned him.

by Anonymousreply 47June 12, 2018 9:04 AM

Guys, don't we have to give this douche some kind of credit here? Begrudgingly.

by Anonymousreply 48June 12, 2018 9:05 AM

r48 he really didn't accomplish anything, he could have stayed home.

by Anonymousreply 49June 12, 2018 9:06 AM

No R48

by Anonymousreply 50June 12, 2018 9:07 AM

Now I can see why his friends said he calls them and keeps rambling

by Anonymousreply 51June 12, 2018 9:08 AM

FUCK your trolling Putin ass, R48.

by Anonymousreply 52June 12, 2018 9:08 AM

"Buried along roads, along paths....usually."

by Anonymousreply 53June 12, 2018 9:10 AM

Wants to put hotels on their beaches.

by Anonymousreply 54June 12, 2018 9:11 AM

You guys are pathetic.

Shit, if I flew to Singapore I would be horribly jet lagged for 3 days, and I am not 72 years old. He has been under a lot of pressure too. You all are just cruel.

Make fun of him when he deserves it or he says something hateful, but he is doing the best he can right now. We all know that he will never be an Obama like statesman, but I feel a bit of admiration for him for carrying this off as well as he has.

by Anonymousreply 55June 12, 2018 9:13 AM

[quote]FUCK your trolling Putin ass, [R48].

ABSOLUTELY. My post reeks of being a Putin troll, you fucking toilet baby. I am asking a legitimate question. Especially, since social media will be inundated with his sycophants jizzing over themselves.

by Anonymousreply 56June 12, 2018 9:14 AM

"Oh, I understand it much better than you do!"

by Anonymousreply 57June 12, 2018 9:15 AM

R55, we get it. Trump is a BIG FUCKIN' PUSSY who needs to be treated with kid gloves.

Thank you for your input, comrade.

by Anonymousreply 58June 12, 2018 9:16 AM

He got nothing of substance out of the negotiations if he did he would have mentioned it many times. NK got a huge propaganda bounce and more legitimacy for their regime.

by Anonymousreply 59June 12, 2018 9:18 AM

r55 if he doesn't have the stamina then he should't have run for President. He is soft.

by Anonymousreply 60June 12, 2018 9:19 AM

R48 Yes, you can give him credit for validating and honoring a dictator while disparaging our allies.

R55 Yes, too bad Dr. Ronny (Feelgood) Jackson is no longer paying free and loose with the uppers, but we should praise Trump for staying awake after all the preparation he's done for this summit.

by Anonymousreply 61June 12, 2018 9:20 AM

“I have one of the great memories of all time”. Lmao

by Anonymousreply 62June 12, 2018 9:20 AM

"It's been a long time since I took it easy". WTF? The guy hasn't put in a full week's work yet.

by Anonymousreply 63June 12, 2018 9:20 AM

Low stamina.

Weak.

by Anonymousreply 64June 12, 2018 9:21 AM

Called people in the gulags "winners." LMAO

by Anonymousreply 65June 12, 2018 9:26 AM

Is he drugged? This feels more like a legitimate press conference than anything I’ve ever seen him do. He’s actually answering questions, he’s not calling people childish names. He almost comes across as a grown-up adult (who is in the rambling early stages of dementia).

by Anonymousreply 66June 12, 2018 9:28 AM

You guys worry too much about "normalizing" and legitimizing." During and right after the election you had it in for anyone who you saw as normalizing Trump. Remember Jimmy Fallon?

Now you're talking about legitimizing Kim. Why can't you be concerned with what may have occurred within the negotiation room...there is a chance that something was accomplished just by the act of shaking hands and speaking. I realize that only time will tell, but I am getting a real Bill Maher vibe here. You seem to want the meetup to be a failure so as to humiliate and denigrate Trump more than you altruistically hope that some progress was actually made.

And don't call me comrade or Natasha. I am just a cunty old frau who has been here since the days of the Jani Lane hookup.

I despise Putin and Russia. I would not go back if my trip were paid for and I would be staying at the Four Seasons. Horrid.

by Anonymousreply 67June 12, 2018 9:33 AM

“I may be wrong. I may stand before you in six months...I’ll never admit that. I’ll find some excuse!”

by Anonymousreply 68June 12, 2018 9:33 AM

Bots alert.

by Anonymousreply 69June 12, 2018 9:37 AM

Even that NRA bitch Dana Loesch tweeted her displeasure with the horrifying flag backdrop.

by Anonymousreply 70June 12, 2018 9:38 AM

R67 Yes, we're concerned about what happened in the negotiating room because only the Trump, Kim and the translators were allowed to attend the first meeting, unlike every other negotiation, so who knows what was negotiated. Maybe Ivanka and Donald have made some great inroads for selling their merch in the NK.

by Anonymousreply 71June 12, 2018 9:40 AM

The problem is that because Trump is so unpredictable and unreliable, even if the handshake achieves something in this moment, it could be undone in the next, on a whim. He is the wrong person for this and the sooner the world is rid of him the better.

by Anonymousreply 72June 12, 2018 9:41 AM

Thank you President Trump!

by Anonymousreply 73June 12, 2018 10:00 AM

As with ALL his accomplishments, things will look much better during and just after the meeting, and then the realities and truths will start coming through after he's back home and the whole thing will be shown to have been a massive scam from the get-go. Little to nothing he will claim will ever actually happen, plus that freak in N. Korea will do something relatively quickly that will show what a con this whole thing is.

But he'll always have his supporters like R73, the people who are and will always be too stupid to see they've been taken for a ride by this con man. Most of them are so delusional they'd walk off the side of the Grand Canyon if Herr Trump told them that's what they must do. These people need to be medicated. It's dangerous to have that many clinical imbeciles on the streets in this country.

by Anonymousreply 74June 12, 2018 10:11 AM

He is simpleton who ate Kim’s propaganda just like that. This was huge victory to them and it will take some time before Donnie understands he has been fucked off badly.

by Anonymousreply 75June 12, 2018 10:14 AM

The ONLY thing this meeting will have accomplished is it will have given Kim Jong Un a close up view of how incompetent and mentally deranged Trump is and it will make him that much more confident in his own power. I'm more than sure after the meeting Un and his cohorts got together and laughed their asses off at this stupid old dotard who's pretending to run (what used to be) the most powerful country on earth. Now they see us as that much weaker because of this fat old drug addicted retard we've put into the White House.

by Anonymousreply 76June 12, 2018 10:15 AM

I can't think of any of the few "wins" Trump has had which didn't end up becoming big duds within days or weeks. The tax bill has been a bust, Net Neutrality got reversed, the summits in Riyadh last year ended up just causing more turmoil, the decrease in corporate regulations hasn't helped either wages or the stock market, etc. The only thing he's done is Gorsuch, and an overripe banana running on the Republican platform could have done that.

So as much as people want to give Trump credit for this, given the lack of content in the signed agreement and his history, it's way too soon to be calling this a win.

by Anonymousreply 77June 12, 2018 10:25 AM

He announced he is going to suspend Military exercises on the Korean Peninsula (South Korea) because the North Koreans find them "provocative." He also said he was either reducing or ending US military presence there. Over time. This is the worst possible thing he could have done at the meeting and he did it. It is being described as a "major concession" from Trump . Not only has he given North Korea the propaganda advantage they always wanted from every U.S. President that has been denied to them....a face to face meeting, an photo op KJU will get a lot of mileage from, but he agreed to suspend military exercises. He ambushed the South Koreans who had no idea he was going to say that.

Meanwhile the De-nuclearization" is "under discussion." So once again, we got nothing, and he gave up something important. he really is a danger to national security, but now also dangerous to the rest of the world. he is solidly aligning us with Putin and China and totally fucking over our allies. He is also fucking with our economy and the economy of Canada and Mexico. What a fucking despicable piece of shit.

by Anonymousreply 78June 12, 2018 11:07 AM

CNN journalists are not fooled by the meeting and the PR spin. Good.

by Anonymousreply 79June 12, 2018 11:16 AM

I imagine "his generals" as he so Royally loves to call them, will change his mind right quick on reducing our presence in S. Korea. I keep hope alive that we'll eventually have a military coup against the Federal Government. We desperately need it, before this lunatic gets us all killed.

by Anonymousreply 80June 12, 2018 11:18 AM

Trump has continually declared CNN his primary enemy, oddly even more than MSNBC. Do you really expect the network to be starry eyed, R79?

by Anonymousreply 81June 12, 2018 11:25 AM

Also by R23:

"Welcome to America, welcome to Brooklyn". Asian woman forced to give up her subway seat.

Race baiting troll. Ignored

by Anonymousreply 82June 12, 2018 11:35 AM

Yes R72..

by Anonymousreply 83June 12, 2018 11:38 AM

The craziest thing about people like Trump and most of his underlings is that they are so deluded about their own abilities they actually think when they start spinning their lies that everyone is going to believe them. They've yet to learn that it's very hard for the POTUS or most anyone in a high federal government position to tell big lies because there will always be multiple people around them who know the truth and will be willing to get the truth out even if it has to be done on the QT.

by Anonymousreply 84June 12, 2018 11:44 AM

No, r80, we need no military coup. We need democratic voter turn out in the midterms and a decent democratic candidate in the 2020 election. It's that easy and that democratic.

by Anonymousreply 85June 12, 2018 11:50 AM

R82 Oh please.

The story and vid of that woman was not race baiting any more than all the many "out of control crazy frau" threads are misogynistic.

There are interesting stories which don't paint someone in a good light, but they can start a good conversation. I suppose you want no part of anything which doesn't flatter minorities?

Grow up.

by Anonymousreply 86June 12, 2018 11:53 AM

r85 Except there's voter suppression and gerrymandering going on so it's really not that easy, is it? You'd think I was just describing a third world country, not a western democracy.

by Anonymousreply 87June 12, 2018 11:54 AM

I commented on a news article along the lines of Trump alienated most of the US allies at the weekend, but it's ok, he's made a new friend. I got all caps get a job white trash as a response. Sums up his support base really!

by Anonymousreply 88June 12, 2018 11:59 AM

[quote]“I have one of the great memories of all time”.

That should serve him well in his interview with Mueller.

by Anonymousreply 89June 12, 2018 12:00 PM

[quote]He announced he is going to suspend Military exercises on the Korean Peninsula (South Korea) because the North Koreans find them "provocative."

So when Kim doesn't denuclearize and the US resumes military exercises, Kim can say the US itself has said doing so is a provocation.

by Anonymousreply 90June 12, 2018 12:01 PM

We had a decent Democratic candidate in 2016, R85. People were too fucking sexist to vote for her! FUCK THEM! I hate them. I FUCKING HATE THEM!

by Anonymousreply 91June 12, 2018 12:06 PM

It wouldn't surprise me a bit if years from now we are finally given proof that not only were vote totals changed to siphon votes away from Hillary and give them to 3rd party candidates, which has been confirmed pretty much, but that Trump's vote totals were inflated. In other words, 60 million people did not vote for him. However, given the fact that millions did vote for him, I 'm sure they felt he was just a "colorful" famous businessman and TV celebrity and he'd pivot to being "Presidential" if he won. I think his hard core of support is a lot smaller today than it was in 2016.

by Anonymousreply 92June 12, 2018 12:34 PM

Ugh - watching GMA and a clip of an interview with him and George where Trump is lying and leaving out the fact that Trudeau's bullying response was in reply to Trump's slamming Canada in his press conference after he exited the meeting. They were also starting to rationalize and normalize his behavior at the G7. Trump also said he likes Justin, but Canada will pay for his comments. I think this NK summit is going to further pump up his ego and his hubris and he is going to get even worse in his abuse of power and doing whatever he wants thinking only how it benefits him. He really is completely unchecked at this point.

by Anonymousreply 93June 12, 2018 12:40 PM

[quote]but I feel a bit of admiration for him for carrying this off as well as he has.

How has he carried it off well? NK is a pariah state and justly so. It’s arguably the most horrible dictatorship in the world. The US has until now shunned meeting with them until they make a pledge to stop oppressing their people and building weapons of mass destruction. They have refused.

Yet Trump meets with them anyway, giving their horrible outlaw regime legitimacy and enough propaganda ammo at home for YEARS. What did he get in return? Nothing.

[quote]there is a chance that something was accomplished just by the act of shaking hands and speaking.

Yes, something for the Kim regime. A propaganda coup like none that regime has never scored before. Having to give nothing but platitudes in exchange. We lost. Bigly. NK comes out of this strengthened.

by Anonymousreply 94June 12, 2018 12:49 PM

It is all good as long as there is a white man in charge.

by Anonymousreply 95June 12, 2018 12:52 PM

r93 And yet we're not even halfway into this shitshow. Feels to me like it's been a decade already.

by Anonymousreply 96June 12, 2018 12:53 PM

He also said this

[quote]"His country does love him. His people, you see the fervor. They have a great fervor."

Did he not study up on North Korea at all? It is also clear he enjoys spending time with dictators or more ruthless leaders (NK, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Philippines). He always seems like he is having a good time yucking it up with them.

by Anonymousreply 97June 12, 2018 12:57 PM

[quote]So when Kim doesn't denuclearize and the US resumes military exercises, Kim can say the US itself has said doing so is a provocation.

Exactly. It is beyond belief that he ran down our international activity like that to the world.

by Anonymousreply 98June 12, 2018 12:59 PM

Sorry r91, she wasn't a good candidate. I was a supporter, but there were just too many people who hated her, rightly or wrongly, whatever, but it's hard to win an election when there's a substantial number of people that hate you. Not liking you is different than hating you. The haters will absolutely go vote for your opponent, the non-likers, might just sit it out. She was a bigger problem for the party than anyone cared to truly consider.

by Anonymousreply 99June 12, 2018 1:00 PM

I cannot wait until this man is in prison.

by Anonymousreply 100June 12, 2018 1:00 PM

Fuck you, R99.

She was a fucking excellent candidate.

She also beat Trump by 3 million votes. FUCK you.

by Anonymousreply 101June 12, 2018 1:01 PM

r97 Oh, yes, the fervour. It's all about the fervour to him. If only the ungrateful bastards back home could display that same fervour, we'd all be living in a paradise, right?

by Anonymousreply 102June 12, 2018 1:01 PM

R99 thinks Karl Rove should choose all Democratic candidates.

by Anonymousreply 103June 12, 2018 1:02 PM

r99 She won the popular vote. She'd be the president right now in a unitary country where getting the most votes is what counts, like in a proper democracy. But please, tell us some more how she wasn't a good candidate.

by Anonymousreply 104June 12, 2018 1:05 PM

Trump gets results. Super human.

by Anonymousreply 105June 12, 2018 1:06 PM

Trump is astonishingly stupid.

by Anonymousreply 106June 12, 2018 1:06 PM

Why would you be astonished at his stupidity.

I'd be astonished if he were ever lucid.

by Anonymousreply 107June 12, 2018 1:16 PM

Thank gods!!! John Berman reporting from Singapore with Sciutto, and Alysin sitting at her anchor desk with....Jake Tapper. (sigh.) They had sexual banter, "

Congratulations on John Berman, hows that working out for you?"

"You were my first.."

"Yeah but you moved on..."

"Can't I have John and you too?"

"No, that's not how I roll!"

The man is sex! Cuomo should take lessons.

by Anonymousreply 108June 12, 2018 1:21 PM

The art of the deal = basically giving concessions to NK for nothing in return, and giving them the valuable photo opportunity they have wanted for decades. Is trump playing the long game? Hoping to open his shitty hotels and resorts in NK down the line or has Vladimir told him what to do?

by Anonymousreply 109June 12, 2018 1:22 PM

Countdown until Trump insults Kim Jong-un on Twitter.

I give it 24 hours!

by Anonymousreply 110June 12, 2018 1:46 PM

Countdown until we find out he made a deal to have Trump and Ivanka products made in NK factories.

I give it 3 days.

by Anonymousreply 111June 12, 2018 1:53 PM

R109, let's go with Occam's Razor, in that the simplest explanation, that Trump is genuinely clueless, is probably the right one. He got played and he's too dumb to know it.

by Anonymousreply 112June 12, 2018 1:59 PM

[quote]Trump gets results....

...for Kim Jong Un.

by Anonymousreply 113June 12, 2018 2:00 PM

R97, he studied him alright. He longs to have total monopoly on power, no free press, no political opposition, and everyone to sing his praises or off with their heads.

by Anonymousreply 114June 12, 2018 2:08 PM

You mean Trump?

by Anonymousreply 115June 12, 2018 2:16 PM

He basically has that now.

by Anonymousreply 116June 12, 2018 2:17 PM

Trump: "WHERE'S MY NOBEL GODDAMMIT??!"

by Anonymousreply 117June 12, 2018 2:38 PM

He claimed the Iran Deal was the worst deal ever. This North Korean thing isn't a deal at all. Two pages of vague nothingness.

But like many Roman Generals who lost, Trump will return to DC and claim he had a big victory.

by Anonymousreply 118June 12, 2018 2:44 PM

Trump has agreed to stop military exercises on the border. Kim has promised nothing.

Kim win; Trump lost

by Anonymousreply 119June 12, 2018 2:45 PM

Trump created this mess in the first place by goading Kim on through twitter.

and now, suddenly, Trump has brought peace apparently...

So Trump causes the problem and claims victory when he ends the problem?

by Anonymousreply 120June 12, 2018 2:46 PM

And that's not even counting the coup of getting the meeting at all, R119, or the lavish praise from Trump. North Korea has wanted this for decades, only no president was dumb enough to give this away for nothing until Trump.

by Anonymousreply 121June 12, 2018 2:46 PM

R86 = Russian trollski

by Anonymousreply 122June 12, 2018 2:49 PM

Peace with North Korea? Ok so how about the hundreds of thousands or millions of North Koreans in concentration camps there? Sweep that under the carpet?

by Anonymousreply 123June 12, 2018 2:51 PM

Pretty much, R123, along with South Korean security.

by Anonymousreply 124June 12, 2018 2:53 PM

[quote]Guys, don't we have to give this douche some kind of credit here? Begrudgingly.

No. This has been a simple answer to a simple question.

Credit for what? For getting played by North Korea? For being a terrible negotiator? For lavishly praising a brutal dictator? For giving up a lot and getting nothing in return?

This is a serious problem. What is wrong with Trump, that he has these meetings with our adversaries without American aides there?

by Anonymousreply 130June 12, 2018 3:29 PM

Trump took a massive dump in his pants, however we must give him credit for his foresight that he made sure to wear diapers to shit in. Yes, he made a massive stinker and the whole room was tearing up, but at least he didn't get the seats and floors all shitty!

Any President could have had this meeting. This is not an accomplishment, it’s a concession. The US has always insisted on a meeting of 6. The US, both Koreas, Japan, China, and the sixth, probably Russia, and NK has been disagreeable. The North has always wanted a meeting with just the US. If Trump had studied, he would have known this.

by Anonymousreply 138June 12, 2018 3:55 PM

You apologists, get this through your thick skulls. He hasn't "carried a god damn thing off". Whatever he or his people are saying about what happened you can bet your bottom dollar is all made up bullshit. Bullshit that will be shown to be just that in short order. This is just more smoke and mirrors, and where the Trump crew are concerned the mirrors always crack very easily and very fast.

Some reactions:

[quote]The verdict is in: Meh.

[quote]That’s generally how foreign affairs experts reacted to the historic summit between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore. For the most part, experts agreed that Trump made more significant concessions than Kim; that North Korea has committed to denuclearization before and not followed through; and that even a weak agreement is better than war.

The linked article cites reactions from Heritage Senior Research Fellow for Northeast Asia Bruce Klinger, Former Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications Ben Rhodes, James Acton, senior associate of the Nuclear Policy Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, New York Times National Security correspondent David Sanger, Vipin Narang, MIT associate professor specializing in nuclear proliferation in North Korea, Josh Smith, the Reuters senior correspondent covering the Koreas, General Michael Hayden, former CIA director, Ian Bremmer, president of the Eurasia Group, and Julian Borger, The Guardian’s world affairs editor.

More at the link, obviously.

by Anonymousreply 151June 12, 2018 5:01 PM

This was easy win for NK. Trump is stupid and doesn’t even know it. His stupidity is in its own level. I bet NK celebrated big time and will take everything they can from photos etc.

by Anonymousreply 152June 12, 2018 5:05 PM

R151, technically, it's correct that Trump "ends the problem," if you consider the problem the escalating war of words and tensions between the U.S. and North Korea, an escalation that was mostly caused by Trump.

Of course, if you consider the broader problem of North Korea, overall, you are quite correct that nothing is solved and that we handed some pretty significant wins to Kim Jong Un.

by Anonymousreply 153June 12, 2018 5:05 PM

What promise do we have even of a so-called "war of words," r153? It's virtually guaranteed that Kim is going to go back to NK and ramp up his rhetoric even more, and claim, with some justification unfortunately, that his powerful moves cowed the president of the USA into concessions.

by Anonymousreply 154June 12, 2018 5:08 PM

OSLO (Reuters) - It did not take long for bookmakers to slash Donald Trump’s odds of winning the Nobel Peace Prize in the wake of the historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

On Tuesday, Ladbrokes cut the odds of Trump winning alone or in a joint prize this year to 6/4 from 10/1 before the summit; William Hill offered odds of 6/4 on Trump and Kim to win jointly, either in 2018 or 2019.

“Love him or loathe him, Trump has made history where others have failed,” said Jessica Bridge of Ladbrokes.

by Anonymousreply 171June 12, 2018 11:16 PM

History is not always a good thing.

by Anonymousreply 172June 12, 2018 11:41 PM

Yeah, but that will shift back in a day or so, R171, once it becomes more widely known just how little happened here.

by Anonymousreply 173June 13, 2018 1:43 AM

Wait-if they slashed the odds, doesn't that mean that they believe his odds of winning have gone down, R173?

Never mind, R173. I'm confused.

Maddow said both China and Russia wanted the military exercises stopped. They were publicly quoted about it back in March of 2017. They've been bitching about it for years. The Military exercises have been going on since the 50's.

[quote]The fucking Democrats need to have a swift rebuke of Trump's failed Summit of smoke and mirrors.

They've been working with moderate Republicans in Congress and brought them into the fold wrt immigration, and just yesterday forced Ryan into holding two new votes on immigrants, in an effort to stop the Trump admin's atrocities.

It's quite an achievement but the media, as always, is distracted by the shiny object so we haven't heard as much about it. Still, when it comes to a president holding a summit, there's not a lot they can do. Immigration and kids in cages, that they can stop.

[quote]Maddow said both China and Russia wanted the military exercises stopped.

Kurt Eichenwald @kurteichenwald

Gee what a surprise. A January piece in the Wall Street Journal - five months ago - reported that Trump had been told by a key advisor to drop joint military exercises with South Korea.

The advisor? Vladimir Putin. Trump knifed an ally to aid an enemy on the advice of Russia.

by Anonymousreply 183June 13, 2018 1:01 PM

R183, that's exactly right. And what more evidence does Congress need to fully understand that Trump is there to implement Putin's policies, not ours. Putin is already treating us like we're a satellite country. It's despicable considering Russia's economy is collapsing and they aren't even close to having the kind of muscle to compete with us. Trump has elevated a vile terrorist like Lil Kim and NK to the same status as we are, and doing it at Russia's and China's behest. And he is being paid handsomely. That's what rocks his world : $$$$$. People keep asking "What does Putin have on Trump?" He is making Trump wealthy. So is China, and so are the Saudis. That's exactly what his motivation is.

Can comeone re-start a thread about that eerie tarot deck from the 90's with cards that reflected current leaders and events? There were a couple of threads a while back about them before the 2016 election, before anyone even knew trump would be a candidate. There were cards with Hillary and Pres. Obama as well. The threads seem to have quietly disappeared, at least I can't find them.

One of the cards was of trump, with chaos and what looked like nuclear destruction behind him. Maybe it's time to re-visit that conversation?

Cue Republican Rick Wilson:

"Heckuva job, Mr. President. No matter what a weapons-grade dumpster fire this week created, you’re safe from congressional oversight, but you know that by now. Nothing you do matters to this Congress. No matter what damage you inflict on our economy, our alliances, trade, our stature in the world, our role as an exemplar of democratic values, our ability to serve as an honest broker in the international community, and our security, Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell will lay supine before you. (Supine is that position you usually have to pay for, hoss.)

Their evident, constant terror at running afoul of your volcanic temper, lunatic followers, and media cheer squad mutes their tongues and stays their hands even when they should know better. They should fear a world where America is isolated, mistrusted, and weaker economically, morally, and politically. They should worry the acid drip of your rhetorical and moral poison reduces American power and influence.

Instead, they fear their own president, hiding behind furrowed brows and elliptical, mealymouthed expressions of grave concern."

I am not sure if this is possible, but his need for praise seems to have gotten worse. He now tweets throughout the day, and his insecure need to make shade everything so he is the hero of the moment is almost in every one of those tweets. Also, does he have to end every tweet in an exclamation point? It really highlights his emotional maturity and emphasizes who simple his tweets are - never looking at anything other than in black or white.

2 Norwegian lawmakers nominate Trump for Nobel Peace Prize

Christian Tybring-Gjedde and Per-Willy Amundsen, lawmakers with the populist Progress Party, told Norwegian news agency NTB on Wednesday that Trump "had taken a huge and important step in the direction of the disarmament, peace and reconciliation between North and South Korea."

A group of U.S. lawmakers also are backing Trump's nomination for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize.

by Anonymousreply 192June 13, 2018 7:15 PM

You can bump this up any time in the future.

by Anonymousreply 194June 13, 2018 7:47 PM

His being hated has nothing to do with him not winning the Nobel Prize.

More like, he got the same tired promises out of the NKs we always get, and he praised and flattered a monstrous dictatorship. That's why he's not gonna win.
