The former was known as "The Mess In A Dress" while the latter was not...

Miss Sidney, do you consider your role in "Beetlejuice" to have been the zenith of your long, great career?

Back in the late '60s or early '70s I saw her onstage in a tour of Sheridan's classic 18th century comedy The Rivals. She played Mrs. Malaprop and she was wonderful. "O fie, Sir Anthony, you are as stubborn as an allegory on the banks of the Nile!"

[quote]Or this one?

Aren't we ALL a little Sylvia Sidney on the inside?

I can remember her being on an episode of Starsky and Hutch years ago. Pretty old then and never a great beauty.

She was not a great star but she was a very fine actress, both on film and on the stage.

Only one Oscar nomination and she lost it to a ten year old. A thing like that can really hurt.

She did age kind of quickly. It is shocking to think she was only 62 when she did Summer Wishes Winter Dreams. She seems like an old woman in that.

I was so surprised by her Mrs. Malaprop in The Rivals. Very strong stage presence and impeccable comedy timing. I thought I was going to see some 1930s has been.
