The new hanging trend reminded of the story with Katharine's brother, who she found hanging by a curtain tie when she was a teenager. She was apparently a lot more athletic than him. Is it possible she also liked pussy a lot more than he did?
Oh, those perfect families with good-looking, athletic, highly accomplished children always lose a few.

It was his sister's acting that killed him.

I think when he heard his sister start to do that mannered clench-jawed Bryn Mawr accent he had to kill himself.

Not just her brother. Her father's brother Charlie Hepburn jumped from a window in 1915 and impaled himself on a picket fence. Her maternal grandfather, Fred Houghton, killed himself in 1892 and her grandfather's brother, Charlie Houghton, shot himself in 1897. Shortly after Tom's death in 1921, another of her father's brothers, Dr. Sewell Hepburn, closed the door of his garage, sat in the driver's seat with the engine running and died of asphyxiation.

This exchange in the comments of that fansite is priceless:
[quote]Has anyone ever raised the question of whether or not it is possible that Katharine and her brother Tom had had an incestuous relationship or love or experimented sexually and that that had driven him, the older sibling, to take his life?
[quote]That is an absolutely insane comment, idea etc...no Janet it never crossed my mind...
