John Holmes

What a shady character.

by Anonymousreply 95April 13, 2019 10:42 AM

His dick threw some shade, for sure.

by Anonymousreply 1June 9, 2018 12:00 PM

Physically repulsive.

by Anonymousreply 2June 9, 2018 12:09 PM

In very few instances am I compelled to refer to a penis as a “dong,” but his certainly was.

by Anonymousreply 3June 9, 2018 12:51 PM

His gay film is funny, He's a sheik, and the guy sucking him off (someone Del Rio) plays to the camera with his dick. Took it in the ass, too.

by Anonymousreply 4June 9, 2018 1:00 PM

The sad thing is that he probably killed every one of those boys who took his loads in that gay video. Chris Burns, Joey Yale, all the others, dead from AIDS.

by Anonymousreply 5June 9, 2018 2:07 PM

Because they couldn't have possibly been infected by anybody else back then, right, R5?

by Anonymousreply 6June 9, 2018 2:20 PM

What a pity that meat was attached to such a physically unattractive man.

by Anonymousreply 7June 9, 2018 4:57 PM

I enjoyed Val Kilmer’s portrayal of him in Wonderland

by Anonymousreply 8June 9, 2018 5:14 PM

I'm amazed that the Wonderland murder house is still a place people live in. It was for sale not long ago. You couldn't pay me enough.

by Anonymousreply 9June 9, 2018 5:55 PM

There was another curly haired, reddish hued pornstar who looked like he could be his brother. I can't remember his name for the life of me. LOL

by Anonymousreply 10June 9, 2018 6:31 PM

He was an unattractive man, but he has wasn't that bad of a guy before drugs took over. He was gentle with his co-stars. But he was a pathological liar though, but I believe that was because of his insecurities.

I don't believe he was infected with HIV when he did "The Private Pleasures of John C. Holmes" the gay movie referenced above. He was broke when he did that movie and had to have his future wife Misty Dawn and Sharon Kane to dress in drag and be on set in some of the scenes to keep him aroused. He tested negative in 1985, but when he tested again in 1986, he was positive. He did one straight film in Europe but none of his co-stars caught anything.

by Anonymousreply 11June 9, 2018 6:49 PM

Anyone listening to the Wonderland Podcast?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 12June 9, 2018 7:07 PM

FUCK! That Wonderland house looks like some of the surfaces are the same as when the murders took place. I bet there's still dried blood droplets in that ceiling.

by Anonymousreply 13June 9, 2018 7:21 PM

He was sorta cute in his younger days.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 14June 9, 2018 7:30 PM

I'd heard that there was such a thick coating of blood on everything that they had to tear out all of the floors. This looks like them. And the shower door looks original too. Jesus.

by Anonymousreply 15June 9, 2018 7:32 PM

There isn't enough sage in the world to smudge all the bad vibes out of that house. They should have pulled it down and built something else.

by Anonymousreply 16June 9, 2018 8:59 PM

Elon Musk and Ryan Murphy should purchase it along with Cieko Dr, Rockingham, The Cecil, and all the other macabre scenes from LA’s past and create the ultimate ghost trippin’ adventure

by Anonymousreply 17June 9, 2018 9:22 PM

I have r12 it's really good

by Anonymousreply 18June 10, 2018 7:03 AM

The gay movie is probably where he contracted AIDS.

by Anonymousreply 19June 10, 2018 7:32 AM

A fascinating observation, r19.

by Anonymousreply 20June 10, 2018 10:19 AM

Yes, he got the AIDS from being serviced by them there faggots, R19. I don't suppose it would mean much to someone in late-stage encephalacolonitis, but of the dozen or so people I knew personally that died from the disease, five of them were IV drug addicts. All of them straight. Two of them hanged themselves rather than face the inevitable.

Are we done here?

I'm not particularly woowoo R16, and I have been on the scenes of a few murders (including an especially grisly one SOMA in SF) and there's not enough lavender smudge in the entire state of CA to clear out that house. But wasn't 10050 Cielo Dr. (the Tate/Polanski house) an active rental until someone finally pulled it down? I'm pretty certain that Trent Reznor lived there for awhile. I'm too hungover to deal with looking it up. Sorry, "references?" queens. Imagine traipsing around that place in the middle of the night in your undies, essentially wading through the places where the victims fell as you head for the fridge. Brrrrrrrr...

Even if you knocked it down and replaced it, it would be the same location. Hmmm..maybe I'm more 'woo' than I thought (g)

R10 - could it have been 80's straight porn star Scott Irish?

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 22June 10, 2018 1:28 PM

Yes, Cielo drive was a rental for many years. Reznor was the last one to rent it, and he recorded much of The Downward Spiral there, which included tracks like "March of the Pigs" (had to be a Manson reference). Later he said he regretted it because it was disrespectful to the Tate victims.

The Dorothy Stratten murder house also still exists: It's a creepy-looking place.

The Curbed article below shows a number of famous LA murder sites, though I don't know if all the houses are still in existence. It gives the addresses though, so it wouldn't be hard to look them up.

Why hasn't someone made a good documentary about the Wonderland Murders? I know they did that shitty fictionalized one with Val Kilmer, but you'd think this would be rife for the Netflix treatment.

Hell, do a whole series on notorious LA killings: this, Manson, the Hillside Stranglers, the various and sundry Freeway Killers, the Wineville Chicken Coop murders...

Sounds like a perfect Ryan Murphy anthology series.

by Anonymousreply 27June 10, 2018 2:54 PM

Hopefully, Ryan reads DL R27.

That house desperately needs upgrades. I can't believe no one has done it.

by Anonymousreply 28June 10, 2018 3:09 PM

I can't believe the Amityville house is still lived in. They changed it around a bit -- including the entrance and thus the address -- but a whole family including 2 young children were killed there.

by Anonymousreply 29June 10, 2018 4:09 PM

Holmes did gay porn way back in the late 1960s before he ever became famous as a straight porn star.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 30June 10, 2018 4:59 PM

I have a friend who was a very famous straight porn star in the 1970s and 1980s and who knew John Holmes well. He has nothing but great things to say about him. He describes him as personable, funny, and very self-deprecating.

He recounted a story about when the two were making a movie in New Jersey and the production was raided by the police and everyone was put in jail. My friend had never even had a speeding ticket, and here he was, sitting in a jail cell in New Jersey, scared to death. He said John told him stories and jokes all night to try and keep him calm. My friend said he never forgot that kindness.

My friend said that when Holmes' addiction took over, though, his personality changed completely and the two stopped speaking.

by Anonymousreply 31June 10, 2018 5:13 PM

^Jamie Gillis? Ron Jeremy? John Leslie? Harry Reems? Who?

by Anonymousreply 32June 10, 2018 5:46 PM

R32 No, but you're in the ballpark. Was very handsome and an actual actor, too.

by Anonymousreply 33June 10, 2018 5:52 PM

It's Eric Edwards.

by Anonymousreply 34June 10, 2018 5:52 PM

R34 Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

by Anonymousreply 35June 10, 2018 6:01 PM

The bitch who lives in the Wonderland house now goes ballistic if she sees someone outside taking pictures. But she knows there's not a damn thing she can do about it so she just stands there running her mouth, shoot birds, before she goes back inside and slams the door.

by Anonymousreply 36June 10, 2018 6:05 PM

Murders aside, those Laurel Canyon homes are a pain in the ass to get to and out of. Cars parked all on every curb and one lane accessible half the time and you have to maneuver it every time you need a loaf of bread. Awful.

by Anonymousreply 37June 10, 2018 6:09 PM

R37 I drove up the canyon to find that house a few years ago. Yes, that road is narrow and difficult to navigate. But I found the place. I guess the current owner wasn't home, because nobody came out and yelled at me when I took pictures of the place.

by Anonymousreply 38June 10, 2018 6:13 PM

Do we know if the LaBianca house is still extant?

by Anonymousreply 39June 10, 2018 6:20 PM

Yes, but they changed the address from 3301 to 3311 Waverly Drive.

R21 he recorded The Downward Spiral there

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 42June 10, 2018 10:54 PM

R24 A second documentary of N. Cal' murders could have just as much content. In the 70s It was like there was a new serial killer or spree killer every month somewhere in the state.

There's a lot of neighborhoods like that Marin County, R37. Mill Valley especially, has so many of what I call 'donkey trails'. One and a half car wide roads, often with trees coming up through them, and just enough asphalt to call them paved. The locals tire of people turning around in their driveways so they chain them off. G*d help those people if there's ever a really bad wildfire.

by Anonymousreply 43June 11, 2018 1:42 AM

Any more info or photos of John's enormous penis?

by Anonymousreply 44June 11, 2018 1:50 AM

To call John Holmes shady is to call God slightly powerful.

by Anonymousreply 45June 11, 2018 1:53 AM

It’s amazing how much of dirk diggler is based off him

by Anonymousreply 46June 11, 2018 2:18 AM

Yeah Boogie Nights ripped off his story except for the end.

by Anonymousreply 47June 11, 2018 2:25 AM

My very first sighting of that peen was in its flaccid state in a big picture in the old "Screw" tabloid. Apparently publisher Al Goldstein was kind of obsessed with it and used to have Holmes visit his office and was always trying to get John to unzip.

These are very early Holmes pics, looks much like he did in "Screw."

The LaBianca house is right next door to that convent Katy Perry's been trying to buy for a long time.

*sigh* He was so gorgeous. Can't remember how many times I've wanked watching him. Porn films from the 70s are just magical next to almost any porn that came later.

by Anonymousreply 52June 11, 2018 3:09 PM

Do you guys believe in ghosts and spirits? If you don't, then why does it matter if people were murdered in a house? Why wouldn't you live in it?

by Anonymousreply 53June 11, 2018 3:18 PM

I dont R53 but doesn't mean I am right...

by Anonymousreply 54June 11, 2018 3:25 PM

Porn actors with huge dicks are a dime a dozen. Was he so popular because that many people just weren't doing porn. He's hideous

by Anonymousreply 55June 11, 2018 3:25 PM

He's better looking in early years than Ron Jeremy

by Anonymousreply 56June 11, 2018 3:27 PM

Meh, R23. The Stratten murder house is near mine and I've gone walking past it many, many times. It's ugly and poorly kept but the owner likes it like that. He reportedly hasn't fixed any of the bullet holes in the house because he thinks it would take away from the home's value.

by Anonymousreply 57June 11, 2018 4:00 PM

Is the Waverley House right next door to the convent or just on the same street?

Every time Jessica went to Italy, they used the convent as the hotel.

by Anonymousreply 58June 11, 2018 4:19 PM

By the time they discovered Stratten and her hung hubby, both bodies were crawling with ants and other insects inside their mouths and noses and ears.

I always find that creepier than the fact that they were in an advanced state of decomposition.

R58 the back wall of the convent property meets the back property line of the LaBianca house. The convent property is so expansive that , no, the convent building is not right next door, but the property is.

The Dorothy Stratten murder scene is about as awful as I've seen. Her lying there with most of her brain outside her skull, and that pig Snider naked (after reportedly having had sex with her corpse) sitting with his back to the wall and half his head blown away and blood splattered all over the wall.

by Anonymousreply 66June 11, 2018 7:53 PM

Those boys in that collage are Joey Yale and Chris Burns. Yale died from AIDS in 1986, 2 years before Holmes, so he was already infected when he made that 1983 video. That video shoot was probably a veritable disease factory.

by Anonymousreply 73June 11, 2018 8:10 PM

You're wrong about that, r5. Holmes ended up broke after the murder trial and couldn't find work in the straight porn business. The only ones who'd hire him at the time were some of the gay porn producers due to his big dick. It was actually Joey Yale who gave Holmes the virus, as he fucked him up the ass on camera in some porn scene that they did together. Sadly, Joey Yale did die of AIDS, but it was before John Holmes did.

by Anonymousreply 74June 11, 2018 8:24 PM

[quote] Just google "dorothy stratten murder scene" and it'll be the 4th image (in color) from the left.

That's a fictional scene printed by Hustler (or some other porn rag). IIRC it was an advertisement aimed at the supposedly "better" type of straight male who'd buy their 'zine as opposed to Playboy. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

But the point is, that's not the actual murder scene but a photographed reenactment that may not even be based on jow the actual scene looked. I don't believe photos of the actual scene are available.

by Anonymousreply 75June 11, 2018 8:25 PM

I always thought the LaBianca House was more remote.

by Anonymousreply 76June 11, 2018 8:30 PM

As well as damn fucking ugly. Who cares how big his cock was, he was repulsive looking.

by Anonymousreply 77June 11, 2018 8:37 PM

Nope R75, that is the real Stratten murder scene.

by Anonymousreply 78June 11, 2018 8:57 PM

I just remember hearing that the bodies of Dorothy and the douchebag were all covered in ants

by Anonymousreply 79June 11, 2018 9:50 PM

No, R78, R75 is correct. You clearly haven't read the police reports (messed up as their investigation was) or know anything about what was discovered at the scene or where the bodies were located. There's also a case to be made that it was a set-up, although I don't have all the information on this. Do your research before spouting your misguided opinion as a fact.

by Anonymousreply 80June 11, 2018 11:14 PM

Dorothy Stratten was Canadian and like all Canadians she was weak and dishonest.

by Anonymousreply 81June 12, 2018 12:58 AM

R55 In the early 1970s, straight porn was all about the women. Most of the guys appearing in X-rated movies weren't hung. Holmes was one of the first male porn stars to become famous for his famous appendage.

He paved the way, so to speak, for hung men in straight porn.

I didn’t realize the LaBianca house was that swanky. Was it gated back in the ‘60s?

by Anonymousreply 86March 12, 2019 2:25 PM

It’s mind-boggling to me that Holmes and the others involved in the Wonderland murders were acquitted.

by Anonymousreply 87March 12, 2019 2:30 PM

R85 He would be in practice with Mike Branson

by Anonymousreply 88March 12, 2019 2:53 PM

Until I listened to that Wondery podcast, I had no idea that one of the Wonderland victims survived. A piece of her skull dislodged and kept her from bleeding to death. She’s still alive today.

by Anonymousreply 89March 12, 2019 6:33 PM

His teen prey, Dawn, who eventually escaped him, published a book a few years ago about her relationship with him. He targeted her when she was 15, slept with her at 16, got her hooked on drugs, beat her and pimped her out to feed his own habits, then beat her for being a "whore."

by Anonymousreply 94April 12, 2019 7:50 PM
