Redmond O’Neal charged with attempted murder

I can't believe he murdered Farah and they're just now getting around to charging him.

by Anonymousreply 1June 9, 2018 6:42 AM

This will kill Farrah. She hasn't been well for years, she lives quietly in Germany.

by Anonymousreply 2June 9, 2018 6:44 AM

But he's so hot!

by Anonymousreply 3June 9, 2018 6:49 AM

Poor Farrah...this shocker will break her heart.

by Anonymousreply 4June 9, 2018 6:50 AM

Well that had to happen. He's a red haired, which is bad enough but then they gave him a name to emphasize it and it isn't even a proper first name, it is a last name.

by Anonymousreply 5June 9, 2018 7:02 AM

What a waste of skin this guy is.

by Anonymousreply 6June 9, 2018 7:04 AM

So sorry to hear this! I loved him in Married With Children.

No, he wasn't on that, he played the daughter on "Unhappily Ever After."

by Anonymousreply 8June 9, 2018 7:23 AM

He smells funny "down there" and is fug. Let him go to jail again and be a pass around bottom.

How embarrassing for you r20.

by Anonymousreply 21June 9, 2018 10:23 AM

The only O'Neal offspring who turned out unscathed is Patrick, because his mother Leigh Taylor-Young kept him away from Ryan.

by Anonymousreply 22June 9, 2018 10:27 AM

Tatum won an Oscar. I’d gladly turn out like her.

by Anonymousreply 23June 9, 2018 12:36 PM

by Anonymousreply 24June 9, 2018 3:16 PM

Why has Ryan been strangely silent and unsupportive during all,of this? No wonder the poor kid turned out to be a mess.

by Anonymousreply 25June 9, 2018 3:20 PM

by Anonymousreply 34June 9, 2018 4:27 PM

The way his crimes escalated in a very short time is really disturbing. If they hadn't caught and arrested him, I'm pretty sure he would have murdered somebody before much longer.

by Anonymousreply 35June 9, 2018 5:28 PM

by Anonymousreply 36June 9, 2018 9:39 PM

by Anonymousreply 38June 13, 2018 3:51 AM

What kind of mother was Farrah? I mean, he was 24 when she died, so... she fully raised him. I mean, of course having Ryan O'Neal as a father could not have helped, but I'm curious!

by Anonymousreply 39June 13, 2018 5:01 AM

I suspect they didn’t raise him at all and were into themselves and their own drama.

by Anonymousreply 40June 13, 2018 5:39 AM

Saturday, June 09, 2018 Blind Item #9

This former A+ list mostly movie actor who is a multiple Oscar winner/nominee finally was able to do what he started to do several years ago which is to steal every penny from a family member just so he can continue to look wealthy. He continues to be one of the worst celebrity parents ever.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 42June 13, 2018 5:51 AM

Ryan was never an Oscar winner.

by Anonymousreply 43June 13, 2018 5:57 AM

R40 Yes, perhaps "raise" wasn't the best word to use. I'm still curious about his childhood.

by Anonymousreply 44June 13, 2018 6:13 AM

Ryan O'Neal was a Best Actor Oscar nominee for "Love Story" (1970). But the Blind at r42 says "multiple" winner/nominee, so it's probably not him.

by Anonymousreply 45June 13, 2018 11:35 AM

Farrah was the only stability he had and that was tenuous at best. Now he is just a piece of Hollywood flotsam. Ryan must have mental illness genes or something inheritable, all his kids are a hot mess.

by Anonymousreply 46June 13, 2018 12:10 PM

Farrah was more concerned about herself and whom ever she was fucking at the time than her own son

for such a vain, self involved idiot she had a sweet personality. I'm shocked she had $4.5 million to leave her son. She was borderline retarded. I'm also shocked that Ryan didn't swindle it out of her or browbeat her into leaving it to him in her will instead of their son

by Anonymousreply 47June 13, 2018 12:39 PM

Redmond reminds me of my crazy brother. He'll probably plead this down and maybe spend a few years in jail. And then do the same thing a few years after he gets out of prison

by Anonymousreply 48June 13, 2018 12:41 PM

R23 her own father hit on her at Farrah’s funeral before he realised he was hitting on his daughter. Farrah and Ryan basically ignored Tatum and her brother Griffin when they were kids and Ryan resented Tatum for getting an Oscar for Paper Moon despite the fact that Tatum was only a little girl.

I don’t think an Oscar makes up for that hot mess of a family.

by Anonymousreply 49June 13, 2018 1:08 PM

by Anonymousreply 51June 13, 2018 1:33 PM

by Anonymousreply 52June 13, 2018 1:53 PM

R20, are you joking, you dipshit?

by Anonymousreply 53June 13, 2018 2:13 PM

"What kind of mother was Farrah? I mean, he was 24 when she died, so... she fully raised him. I mean, of course having Ryan O'Neal as a father could not have helped, but I'm curious!"

The problem was NEGLECT. Farrah was high most of the time. Most wealthy people hire help to raise their children, but it seems that nouveau riche trash haven't learned this concept. If any of Ryan's children other that Patrick had a decent nanny, they wouldn't be such fuck-ups. Besides Ryan's neglect and violence, the kids were neglected by incapacitated mothers - Tatum and Griffin by a bipolar alcoholic (Joanna Moore), and Redmond from a vacant drug abuser (Farrah).

by Anonymousreply 54June 13, 2018 2:25 PM

I seem to recall a story about Redmond showing his friends the Playboy photos of his mother when he was a kid...

Was Ryan inappropriately lovey-dovey with Redmond, like he was with Tatum? And didn't his other son kill someone with a boat, or something?

by Anonymousreply 80July 2, 2018 6:06 AM

Ryan’s son (Tatum’s brother) decapitated Francis Ford Coppola’s oldest son (Sofia’s brother) in a bizarre jet ski accident in the South of France (if I remember the story correctly).

Ryan’s son (whose name I can’t recall) was fully to blame and was apparently recklessly driving the jet ski and drunk(?) I can’t immediately recall all the details...

It’s one of the most fucked up and bizarre Hollywood stories ever and I truly do not know how the Coppola family got through it.

by Anonymousreply 81July 2, 2018 7:33 AM

That was in response to, [R80].

by Anonymousreply 82July 2, 2018 7:34 AM

Okay, even weirder, Griffin (it was Griffin after all) killed the Coppola son in Maryland. God, what an awful story.

From Wikipedia:

“Coppola was killed in a speedboating accident on Memorial Day, 1986, aged 22, in Annapolis, Maryland. Griffin O'Neal, who was piloting the boat, had attempted to pass between two slow-moving boats, unaware that both boats were connected by a towline.

While O'Neal barely had time to duck, Coppola was struck and killed.[1] At the time of the incident, O'Neal was being directed by Francis Ford Coppola in Gardens of Stone and was subsequently replaced.

O'Neal was later charged with manslaughter over the accident. He ultimately pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of "negligent operation of a boat", was fined $200 and sentenced to 18 months' probation in 1987. He eventually received an 18-day jail sentence for not performing 400 hours of community service as ordered.

by Anonymousreply 83July 2, 2018 7:39 AM

More from the L.A. Times (what a shitty family) :

“O'Neal told natural resources police who arrived at the scene within minutes after the accident that Coppola was operating the boat. But witnesses told police that it appeared that O'Neal was the operator.

O'Neal was not tested for alcohol at the time of the accident, police said.”

by Anonymousreply 88July 2, 2018 11:41 AM

Why doesn't Ryan do a min series about this troubled dynasty?

by Anonymousreply 89July 2, 2018 1:38 PM

Griffin's (and Tatum's) issues are related to being neglected as children, not abuse (then) by Ryan.

Ryan was womanizing all over the place during his brief marriage to their mother, Joanna Moore. When his girlfriend, Peyton Place co-star Leigh Taylor Young got pregnant, Ryan left his marriage and first group of children. Drug addicted-alcoholic-bipolar Joanne Moore was not equipt to handle parenting; Ryan was absent. Later Ryan attempted to "straighten" Griffin out with violence.

Most of the above is in Tatum's first autobio, Paper Life. When the book came out there were numerous cries here at the Datalounge of "do you think it's true"? How Griffin and Tatum came out is text book neglect.

by Anonymousreply 90July 2, 2018 1:58 PM

Introducing and participating with your kids to drug is abuse also.

by Anonymousreply 91July 2, 2018 4:05 PM

I don't know if it's in her book, but for awhile Tatum was living with Cher. Cher was appalled that Tatum wasn't even being fed properly, nevermind the lack of supervision.

The whole family is fucked up. The late, great Movieline ran an obvious BI about Farrah partying with Redmond when he was like 13. Shades of Dina and LILo, complete with red haired kid and bleached mama.

There's more but it's late here now.

by Anonymousreply 110July 3, 2018 5:46 AM

I met someone who worked as O'Neal and Fawcett's full time archivist, which I thought was very interesting...as it implied to ME they were collecting antique books or art or something. But it turned out they just maintained very elaborate archives on THEMSELVES.

Can one BE more self involved ? ?

[quote]MOVIELINE.....11/20 Yes, another wicked whisper, all about that crack-happy mother and son act... by Murgatroyd

[quote]Crackers. It can't be true about the cocaine addiction of that famous, glamorous movie and TV mom and her handsome young son, can it? Or...can it?

[quote]Rumors are whizzing around town that this very schizy mother is more than aware of her young son's cocaine abuse: she shares the same problem! Often, insiders say, the parent and the kiddo -- who live out of state -- go on coke-buying sprees together, buying the drug in large quantities from dealers in trendy Santa Barbara and Santa Monica.

[quote]Can’t help but wonder what the boy did on his own when his mama got admitted to an out-of-state hospital when her nose bled so uncontrollably she seemed an almost certain candidate for a brain hemorrhage?

[quote]Also, can’t help but wonder when the boy's going to finally be taken out of this sicko's hands and put into protective custody (and enforced rehab)? It sure won't be in the hands of his dad, who's got drug and money problems of his own.

Interesting indeed...

That is really sad, [R114]. And it sounds true...

by Anonymousreply 115July 4, 2018 3:49 AM

This story reminds me a bit of Whitney Houston and daughter Bobbie Christina.

Whitney did drugs with her young daughter, and then just a few years after Whitney died, Bobbie Christina imploded and completely self-destructed herself.

I think the drug use with the parent starting at a young age creates a very particular kind of co-dependency and then after the druggie parent dies, it *really* all goes to hell for the surviving offspring...

by Anonymousreply 116July 4, 2018 3:55 AM

There are some interesting tidbits in this article as well. James Orr, Farrah's beau after her (first) break up with O'Neal sounds like a complete piece of shit.

[quote]Their 14-year-old, Redmond, splits his time between households but attends school near his father. Redmond has had his share of teenage troubles already, some of which have been chronicled in the tabloids. "I loved my childhood, and in a way, I feel his has been distorted . . . it's been taken too early from him," says Fawcett, who attributes her breakup with O'Neal to parenting conflicts.

by Anonymousreply 117July 4, 2018 4:08 AM

Yes! And the first poster got it right.

Thanks R114, I can never locate any of Movieline's old BIs online. Murgatroyd's were the best written and most accurate blind items.

Ryan is such a mess he hit on Tatum at Farrah's funeral, claiming he didn't recognize her!!?? Forget hitting on girls at your longterm partner's funeral, you don't recognize your daughter?

It got worse after the funeral. Ryan gave a TV interview clearly spaced out on drugs. He told a bizarre story about how Farrah, totally zonked on pain meds at the end, thought he was Redmond and pulled him on top of her, embraced him passionately and began "grinding" on him.

Now maybe that happened or maybe it was Ryan projecting his own twisted fantasy. I can believe either possibility given the cast of characters.

by Anonymousreply 118July 4, 2018 4:22 AM

It was Annapolis, R81. Water skiing accidents happen, not particularly bizarre at all. Tragic and sad, yes.

by Anonymousreply 119July 4, 2018 4:26 AM

I wonder if Redmond has fetal alcohol syndrome (or something). I found some old pics of Farrah and Ryan having a gay old time at some French festival in Sept. of 1984. She must have been pregnant with Redmond at the time.

Once Farrah was partying hard - which was basically the last 20+ years of her life - she became a different person. Some of her antics were funny, like her doped appearance on Letterman. Others, not so much.

Screenwriter Joe Eszterhas wrote about her taking a dump on the lawn at an elegant Hollywood party. When she denied it, he started to mention it in interviews and essentially threatened her to sue him.

[quote]Eszterhas told us when his book came out that "there were 300 people at that party. If you can put together a half-dozen people who say, 'Yes, I was there. We indeed watched that through the front window,' you're safe on legal grounds.

Fawcett didn't sue.

Farrah was also a chronic shoplifter. I was in a smallish boutique in Beverly Hills (this was the 80s) and Farrah was putting scarves into her purse. The saleslady whispered to me that they just keep track of what she takes and send a bill to her business manager.

by Anonymousreply 136July 5, 2018 1:29 AM

Ryan's pop was quite accomplished.

They never talk about him for some reason...

by Anonymousreply 137July 5, 2018 3:01 AM

R114 I wonder if this is why her nose got so strange looking in later years, when her early nose was strong but perfectly nice. Would explain it.

by Anonymousreply 139July 5, 2018 4:47 AM

r124, Farrah had been shoplifting since the early 1970s. She was arrested twice in 1970, and convicted both times.

In 1970 she was arrested twice for shoplifting after she took clothes from boutiques, and was convicted both times on the lesser charge of trespassing and fined $125 and $265, respectively. In her defence Fawcett claimed to be returning clothes at both stores, substituting new ones of equivalent value, because they wouldn't exchange the merchandise. "I was just taking justice into my own hands," she explained.

R138 In the first or second episode, Ryan mentions that he went to the movies with Farrah and Tatum he got into a full on brawl with a couple who shushed them. It's hard not to be on the shusher's side.

by Anonymousreply 141July 5, 2018 12:23 PM

I'm Irish, but my family didn't drink.

by Anonymousreply 142July 5, 2018 12:50 PM

Why is Ryan such an odious human being?

by Anonymousreply 143July 5, 2018 3:07 PM

R140, well I'm sure when she was shoving scarves into her purse that was justice as well. Ha!

by Anonymousreply 144July 5, 2018 3:27 PM

I wonder why she shoplifted? What was she so upset/ angry about???

by Anonymousreply 145July 5, 2018 3:33 PM

R139, Farrah has extensive plastic surgery when she got older - completely destroying her original look. Many people get talked into having tweaks to their nose, apparently Farrah was so high she didn't see what a lousy job the surgeon did.

by Anonymousreply 146July 5, 2018 3:35 PM

Poor Farrah she was so beautiful RIP

by Anonymousreply 147July 6, 2018 11:58 AM

I think she was one of the most beautiful women of all time. That photo with her obituary. OMG.

I think her parents are still alive. Imagine them dealing with how it ended for Farrah and now with Redmond. And having to put up with a monster like Ryan O’Neal as a son in law.

by Anonymousreply 148July 6, 2018 12:34 PM

Jesus Christ, R148, Farrah's parents are not alive.

by Anonymousreply 149July 6, 2018 12:58 PM

Jane ultimately went back to her high school football boyfriend. There's a vid on YouTube of him confronting Ryan. He tells Ryan that Farrah referred to Ryan as "that fat fuck on the beach" lol Jesus.. Farrah's parents spoke regularly to this guy (forgot his name) as she was dying-at thevend, Ryan wouldn't let his calls through.

The part where Ryan filmed his problemed child shackled at his drugged out dying mothers bed is horrifying.

by Anonymousreply 150July 6, 2018 1:00 PM

Not Jane! Damn spell check! Meant Farrah

by Anonymousreply 151July 6, 2018 1:02 PM

Not the best creative writing, Jane. Try again.

by Anonymousreply 152July 6, 2018 1:13 PM

Patrick did live with his dad for a time, but was in boarding school most of his childhood so no Leigh Taylor young can’t take much credit either. She went on a lot of “spiritual journeys” when Patrick was a kid.

Ryan actually had to bail her out financially about a decade ago because she was swindled out of her money.

Also, from a 2009 Vanity Fair article, more insight on Redmond:

[quote]After Redmond started getting into trouble, O’Neal blamed Fawcett for some of her parenting decisions. “She put Redmond in a place we couldn’t get him out of for 18 months, a behavior-modification program where they beat the shit out of him because he had been caught for marijuana,” he says. “He lay on the floor for 36 hours, refusing to say he was sorry. This was our son! But she had become involved in an art project at the L.A. County Museum, and she didn’t want him back.” [quote]O’Neal is brutally frank about Redmond’s problems. “He’s been in 13 rehabs,” he says. “He’s had a terrible life.” When I raise my eyebrows, O’Neal snorts at the implication that Redmond was also quite privileged. “You be my kid,” he says bitterly. “He has addictions he can’t control; he goes to sleep in his food. This is not a privileged guy. He never had any money; he never had a car; he never had a driver’s license. He’s never been out on the street for a year, because whatever he did, he got caught. He got arrested in prison with heroin in his pocket! So many arrests, the poor, stupid boy! He’s not a thug; he doesn’t know how to be. He’s just a sap, and he knows it. He’s been in rehabs all over the United States and Mexico. We’re just thankful he doesn’t have H.I.V.” [quote]O’Neal’s face crumples. “He knows she’s going to die. He’s going to be in there, and some guard’s going to tell him. We’ll bury her without him. It’s going to be shitty, but she’ll never know; that’s the one saving grace.” By this time he’s crying. “I’m a hopeless father. I don’t know why. I don’t think I was supposed to be a father. Just look around at my work—they’re either in jail or they should be. I have nice grandchildren, though.”

I'm sure I read this article in 2009, but I didn't remember any of the shit about Redmond.

It’s strange there didn’t seem to be anyone who could be a better mother than Farrah, great relationship with her parents, artistic, wealthy and beautiful It had to be Ryan’s fault

by Anonymousreply 161July 7, 2018 4:05 PM

A bad egg - sometimes you just really can’t help them. Did any of Ryan’s kids turn out ok?

by Anonymousreply 162July 7, 2018 4:24 PM

1 is normal. The other 2 are Tatum and Redmond.

by Anonymousreply 163July 7, 2018 4:32 PM

Which one is normal?

by Anonymousreply 164July 7, 2018 4:34 PM

Patrick

by Anonymousreply 165July 7, 2018 5:27 PM

[quote] Farrah had been shoplifting since the early 1970s. She was arrested twice in 1970, and convicted both times

In 1983 Jackie Collins published Hollywood Wives. Perhaps Farrah contributed to the character.

Elaine Conti - a Brooklyn girl turned Hollywood hostess who is desperate to stay at the top while her marriage to former screen sex symbol Ross Conti crumbles beneath her. She is a compulsive shoplifter who lives in Beverly Hills. Elaine is a woman ruthlessly driven to improve her husband's career and her own standing within Tinseltown.

by Anonymousreply 166July 7, 2018 6:18 PM

R161 artistic, wealthy and beautiful are no indicator on whether someone would be a good parent. She may have had a good relationship with her own parents, but it obviously had no bearing on her own mothering skills. She was a horrible step mother who treated her step children badly, all while Ryan turned a blind eye, so it would stand to reason that maybe being a parent was neither hers or Ryan’s forte.

by Anonymousreply 167July 7, 2018 7:47 PM

Whatever she may have done wrong in life she paid for it by dying that painful death.

Rest in peace, Farrah.

by Anonymousreply 168July 7, 2018 8:19 PM

It's possible, r166.

Farrah Fawcett starred in the second movie "Hollywood Wives: The New Generation" (2003). Perhaps Jackie Collins wanted Farrah for the role, as a "thank you" for inspiring the Elaine Conti character from the first novel.
