With a special Entertainment Weekly Reunion
Why? Because 18th anniversaries are regarded as one of the big landmarks of anything?
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 8, 2018 8:52 PM |
They mostly look good. Hal Sparks and Michele Clunie have a strange rubbery, plasticky look, but the rest are not bad.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 8, 2018 8:56 PM |
I always had a crush on Mikey. Who is in the middle with his legs in the air? I cant tell who anyone is anymore they all look so different.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | June 8, 2018 8:58 PM |
Isn't that Emmett, R3?
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 8, 2018 9:11 PM |
Yeah, it's Peter Paige, who lost his hair rather quickly after the show ended.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 8, 2018 9:33 PM |
Gale Harold has an ugly beard!
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 8, 2018 9:39 PM |
Really OP? There is an active QAF folk thread already going. We don't need duplicate threads for a show from 20 years ago
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 8, 2018 9:40 PM |
Yes, R7, really.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 8, 2018 9:43 PM |
R7 is a stupid cunt!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 8, 2018 9:47 PM |
It’s ok Miss Mary OP. Glad you posted this.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 8, 2018 9:50 PM |
Can we fend off the Gale fangirls?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 8, 2018 9:52 PM |
R7 this is the 18th Anniversary thread of QAF
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 8, 2018 9:52 PM |
R12 link to the 17th Anniversary thread, please...
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 8, 2018 10:07 PM |
R13 there wasn't a magazine layout for it, the 18th does
by Anonymous | reply 14 | June 8, 2018 10:10 PM |
The British original was LEAPS AND BOUNDS BETTER than this lukewarm shit.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 8, 2018 10:23 PM |
The video isnt loading for me. Does Hal Sparks apologize for accepting his role and ruining every scene he’s in by his shitty acting and lack of charisma?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 8, 2018 10:31 PM |
[quote]Gale Harold has an ugly beard!
What's her name?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 8, 2018 11:12 PM |
Matt Battaglia needs to be there. Naked and presenting the hole.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 9, 2018 1:21 AM |
Wait Gale and Hal in the same room together. WTF
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 9, 2018 1:25 AM |
Congrats QAF you were camp soapy fun. Really loved the lesbian storylines too. You were cool
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 9, 2018 1:29 AM |
Sharon Gless looks great.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 9, 2018 1:31 AM |
Tired of it when it came out
I’ll ignore this from now on
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 9, 2018 1:41 AM |
Hal Sparks hole presentation please.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 9, 2018 1:52 AM |
It's funny to hear the show's eldergay creators in the clip at OP talk about how a "new generation of gays" is finding the show when we all know what he means is a "new generation of fraus who are infatuated with gay men"
The show never seemed to draw much support from the gay community and was much more popular with middle aged straight women with portion control issues.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 9, 2018 2:10 AM |
When it originally aired, QAF was just another Showtime show with bad reviews and a tiny audience.
Will EW do an anniversary photo shoot for Dead Like Me and Huff?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 9, 2018 2:14 AM |
It's the 20th anniversary of the original superior QUEER AS FOLK, starring Aidan Gillen. Why isn't that being celebrated?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 9, 2018 2:16 AM |
Curious: given how bent out of shape many DLers got about the age gap between Hammer and Chalamet in Call Me By Your Name, were they as bent out of shape about the age gaps both QAF?
IIRC, in the US version it was a 17 year old high school senior hooking up with a 30 year old ad exec and in the UK version, Hunnam's character was supposed to be a lot younger.
US version was likely helped by the fact that the actors didn't look to be markedly different ages, but were DLers of Yore as miffed about the age difference in 2000?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 9, 2018 2:19 AM |
tired-ass cunts
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 9, 2018 2:34 AM |
Hal has definitely had work done.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 9, 2018 2:44 AM |
But not enough R29
by Anonymous | reply 30 | June 9, 2018 2:50 AM |
I think they all look as good or better than they did during the series' run. I just hope this doesn't reignite the Gale Harold troll.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 9, 2018 3:04 AM |
There were just as many threads about QAF in its day as there were threads about Call Me last fall. Many threads were about how awful and unreal the show was including the age gaps in the relationships.
We didn’t have the FF or ignore buttons back them.

[quote]this is the 18th anniversary of QAF.
18th? Do they celebrate this yearly?
What is significant about 18 years that it deserves special commemorating?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 9, 2018 3:10 AM |
^^^Bryan Singer
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 9, 2018 3:13 AM |
Has Sparks ever come out? Will he ever?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 9, 2018 3:26 AM |
He was dumber than hammers, no thanks
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 9, 2018 3:28 AM |
R27 You again? Go and haunt the dreary as fuck CMBYN threads
by Anonymous | reply 37 | June 9, 2018 3:31 AM |
WTF is Sparks doing with those BAD George Michael earrings?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 9, 2018 3:36 AM |
Since Sparks was a complete asshole about having to kiss his male co-stars, I'm glad he wound up with that face.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 9, 2018 3:39 AM |
R39 Did he act at all after QAF?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 9, 2018 3:42 AM |
Thank you R32. Was curious what the reaction was back in the day.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 9, 2018 11:01 AM |
R33 - Was clearly EW trying to figure out what to do for their annual gay issue and running out of ideas. Probably got pitched by someone's PR agent --maybe Gless's and they bit.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 9, 2018 11:06 AM |
In the pictures this group could be mistaken for a gathering of the Low Testosterone Club. White jeans ? Mary !
I agree with the commenters above who noted that the original British version was far superior. The American version started strong but by the second season or so, when they had run through their adaptation of the original British scripts and started writing their own, the decline was precipitous. I stopped watching long before the series ended.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 9, 2018 11:37 AM |
I'm glad they did this. Also Randy Harrison (Justin) looks still in his 20s, not 40.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 9, 2018 12:26 PM |
I always liked Michael’s fag hag from early on in the series.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 9, 2018 12:52 PM |
IIRC, Charlie Hunnam's character was only 15 when Aiden Gillan's Stuart fucked him.
At the time, because I was barely out of my teens myself and infatuated with older men, I thought it was hot. Now it strikes me as creepy. Why did Russell T. Davies make the character so young?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 9, 2018 12:53 PM |
[quote] Why did Russell T. Davies make the character so young?
I think because the age of consent is the UK is 16 and they wanted the relationship to be that more daring. Also, it was Nathan's sexual awakening so it's true to life for him to be young and wanting to meet gay men. He had to find them in clubs, not risk outing himself at school.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | June 9, 2018 1:03 PM |
I’ve watched both versions and thought the day deference was negligible and down to a case of cultural comfort.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | June 9, 2018 4:31 PM |
Should be noted that Robert Gant is also part of this reunion.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | June 9, 2018 4:42 PM |
This brings back so many special memories.... What an amazing re-boot that would be (one can only hope)!
