So to early to know if there's much male nudity? Clarke preferably

by Anonymousreply 3June 7, 2018 5:04 PM

It stinks!

by Anonymousreply 4June 7, 2018 5:05 PM

Looks cool

by Anonymousreply 5June 7, 2018 5:11 PM

Does Anne play a high-strung, annoying woman obsessed with winning prizes and giving acceptance speeches?

by Anonymousreply 6June 7, 2018 5:14 PM

Reminds me of Body Heat a little. So Hathaway's playing the scheming femme fatale and McConaughey's the chump she takes advantage of. Cast is impressive - Diane Lane, Djimon Hounsou, Jason Clarke.

by Anonymousreply 7June 8, 2018 3:25 AM

Hathaway as a femme fatale?!

And McConaughey is to old to play a lover, especially her lover. So bored of films where the male lead is 15-20 older than the female lead.

by Anonymousreply 8June 8, 2018 12:27 PM

Jason Clarke is a red flag that this will bomb.

Planet of the Apes Winchester Kennedy movie

by Anonymousreply 9June 8, 2018 3:13 PM

R8 Both Clarke and McConaughey are 13 years older than Hathaway and it's Diane Lane who plays McConaughey's lover. She's 5 years older than McConaughey.

You have him confused with Pitt, Di Caprio and Tom Cruise. Hathaway's already too old by Hollywood standards to be their leading lady (see Margot Robbie and Annabel Wallis). My favorite was Lizzy Kaplan playing Pitt's sister. She's 20 years younger than him.

Anybody see Colossal? Hathaway was the best I've ever seen her in that. Brutal. Great, weird little movie. And she's getting rave reviews for Oceans 8. She could be great playing a conniving Hitchcock blonde.

by Anonymousreply 11June 8, 2018 4:17 PM

Colossal was creepy as fuck.

by Anonymousreply 12June 8, 2018 4:45 PM

Clarke was really good as Teddy Kennedy. He was also good as Carey Mulligan's racist asshole husband in Mudbound.

by Anonymousreply 13June 8, 2018 9:02 PM

McConaughey looks great. He's lost that haggard, wasting-away look in the face. Yea.

by Anonymousreply 14June 8, 2018 9:14 PM

Well, since you all seem to be focusing on the talent involved...

Jeremy Strong is also in this but I didn't include him in the description. He and his gorgeous schnoz are currently in 'Succession' series on HBO. Though probably not for long as the ratings are abysmal.

He was previously in The Big Short, Molly's Game, Black Mass, Selma, Zero Dark Thirty. Not bad at all.

R15 is Succession any good? I watched the first episode and they all seemed like such annoying assholes.

by Anonymousreply 16June 8, 2018 11:10 PM

R10 I always remember Tina Fey's joke about Clooney in Gravity "he'd rather cut his lifeline and die in space than spend another minute with a woman his own age".

by Anonymousreply 17June 8, 2018 11:23 PM

r16 The trailer put me off so much there's no way I'd ever watch it. No one's talking about it in the official thread either.

by Anonymousreply 18June 8, 2018 11:27 PM

R18 I miss the old IMDb discussion boards. For all the alt-right idiots who started spamming it, it was the best place to discuss shows - particularly older ones.

by Anonymousreply 19June 9, 2018 12:42 AM

r19 Oh, tell me about it. They really were the best thing ever. I was on the 3rd Rock From the Sun and Buffy boards until the last minute before they shut them down, pitching fits all over the place.

by Anonymousreply 20June 9, 2018 12:47 AM

Will they ever reopen the IMDb boards? Or is there some replacement site where you discover there are other people obsessed with some flop movie that came out years ago?

by Anonymousreply 21June 9, 2018 1:09 AM

r21 No, those boards are never coming back. I know DLers have mentioned several alternatives in the past but I never bothered to bookmark them because I just knew they wouldn't be the same as the IMDb gold standard. There's nothing more depressing to me than a message board with only a couple of posts here and there.

I miss the Buffy board too. Especially when the actress who played Rona showed up.

Looks a helluva lot better than that Star is Born piece of shit.

by Anonymousreply 24June 10, 2018 4:54 PM

Why is there another remake of A Star is Born? Fucking hell. Let Judy Garland rest in peace.

by Anonymousreply 25June 10, 2018 7:28 PM

R25 - Yes;; Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Coming soon to a cineplex near you.

Anne Hathaway is channeling Ivanka Trump.

by Anonymousreply 27June 10, 2018 9:53 PM

R27 damn, I think you're right. She reminded me of some creepy blonde. It's Ivanka.

by Anonymousreply 28June 10, 2018 11:26 PM

For those of you who have seen it: Is Serenity so bad it's good or just plain bad? Is there any chance of it becoming a cult classic that people can laugh at?

[Quote] Is there any chance of it becoming a cult classic

It already is.

WOOF! What a howler. Anne Hathaway’s opening scene needs to be seen to be believed. Not a good movie by any stretch, but it’s campy and stupid enough that it’ll hold your attention. *spoiler alert* this is probably the strangest take on the St. Elsewhere twist ever.

by Anonymousreply 31February 20, 2019 7:53 PM

Shit, when will it be on pay-per-view. I have to see it now.

by Anonymousreply 32February 20, 2019 8:41 PM

I'm watching it right now on Demand. It's SOOOOOOOOOO bad. I hoped it would be a 'good bad' and campy but it's just *bad* in like an insane, all over the place kind of way.

How did this EVER attract a (mostly) A list cast, let alone get made?

by Anonymousreply 33May 11, 2019 4:37 AM

It was filmed in Mauritius. I imagine I would be tempted to have an all-expenses paid vacation in Mauritius for 3 months.

by Anonymousreply 34May 11, 2019 5:26 AM

Really weird that the kid is imagining his parents having sex scenes.

by Anonymousreply 35May 11, 2019 5:39 AM

Haven't seen it but the plot sounds nuts.

by Anonymousreply 36May 11, 2019 6:49 AM

[quote]How did this EVER attract a (mostly) A list cast, let alone get made?

The allure of working with Steven Knight who wrote and directed it. But what people haven't realized is that aside from "Peaky Blinders" his recent work has been terrible (Taboo, Burnt, Allied)

by Anonymousreply 37May 11, 2019 6:54 AM

I thought this movie was exceptional. Absolutely loved it! Don't get the bad reviews at all. I was glued to the screen the whole time. You people must think all the shitty superhero films are masterpieces.

by Anonymousreply 38May 11, 2019 7:57 AM

R38 I still haven't watched it. But any movie that gets reviews this bad - with the occasional rave - peaks my interest.

I always remember going to see Blade Runner when it first came out - it was absolutely panned by the critics. I loved it.
