Better than Brokeback Mountain.
God's Own Country is the greatest gay film ever made.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | October 19, 2019 10:59 PM |
I liked it BUT not like that means anything because gay films suck.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | June 4, 2018 1:01 AM |
I live in Yorkshire. This film made my fantasy come true. Haha.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | June 4, 2018 1:03 AM |
Better than BBM? Calm down, OP. BBM won multiple oscars, GOC didnt even win anything in its OWN cunt-try.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | June 4, 2018 1:05 AM |
OP, did you not see the other FIFTEEN fucking threads about this movie?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | June 4, 2018 1:06 AM |
Oh, this is refreshing. After all, we've never had this topic before....
by Anonymous | reply 6 | June 4, 2018 1:09 AM |
I can think of 10 better movies that have gay stories and are not in English by the way. Hyperbole, much? OP = room temperature cultural IQ.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | June 4, 2018 1:16 AM |
What a bunch of sad, bitter assholes on this thread! Jealous because you'll never find true love.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | June 4, 2018 1:43 AM |
it's sweet and difficult at the same time
by Anonymous | reply 9 | June 4, 2018 1:45 AM |
The turkish guy is haaawt.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | June 4, 2018 1:49 AM |
[quote]GOC didnt even win anything in its OWN cunt-try.
Although I certainly don't agree with the OP, that's not true. It won a few British Independent Film Awards. It's not the Oscars, it's not even the BAFTAs, but it is something.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | June 4, 2018 1:52 AM |
So hot when they were just sitting around post fuck with their cocks hanging out.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | June 4, 2018 1:54 AM |
R10 who? He was romanian lol
by Anonymous | reply 13 | June 4, 2018 2:08 AM |
GOC sucked.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | June 4, 2018 12:26 PM |
BM was made for the straights. No cock shots or even a glimpse of bare ass so straights don't have to think about "icky" gay sex.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | June 4, 2018 12:36 PM |
In BM the gay gets an appropriate punishment, a tire iron to the face. I love that GOC had a happy ending.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | June 4, 2018 12:42 PM |
“Appropriate,” r17?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | June 4, 2018 12:49 PM |
I should have have put appropriate in quotations. Gay stories typically have a tragic ending to appease a straight audience.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | June 4, 2018 3:23 PM |
What did the sheep think ?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | June 5, 2018 12:54 AM |
Josh O'Connor didn't think the characters would stay together. He said : " I hope that they maybe have a summer on that farm together. I actually think it’s better they’re not together for the rest of their lives. Johnny opens up at the end, I think that’s a really exciting thing for him and probably he’d want to explore that with other people."
by Anonymous | reply 21 | June 5, 2018 12:41 PM |
God's Own Country is a fantastic film.
But this is the greatest film ever made....
by Anonymous | reply 22 | June 5, 2018 3:12 PM |
Is definitely right up there. However, the treatment of animals tarnishes the film. Some of those scenes were quite grotesque.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | June 5, 2018 3:15 PM |
Of the recent gay films that got attention (Moonlight, CMBYN, Beach Rats) GOC was the only one that wasn't about being closeted.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | June 5, 2018 3:21 PM |
Err... it was about a guy being closeted R24. BPM was the only film where the gays were not closeted.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | June 5, 2018 4:03 PM |
Johnny wasn't closeted.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | June 5, 2018 4:24 PM |
Uh, he totally was...
by Anonymous | reply 27 | June 5, 2018 4:34 PM |
His family knew he was gay and so did that girl at the bar who wanted to introduce him to her friend.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | June 5, 2018 4:38 PM |
Treatment of the animals? Huh? You mean knowing how to save and orphan lamb using the skin of a dead lamb was "cruel". It displayed the competence and tenderness of the character- lost on you I guess.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | June 5, 2018 4:50 PM |
What is GOC about?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | June 6, 2018 3:15 PM |
bump
by Anonymous | reply 33 | June 20, 2018 9:08 PM |
Loved it- but many of the scenes were rehashed from BBM, just in a different setting.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | June 20, 2018 9:23 PM |
It was a fucking bore. And unintelligible as well. The only thing impressive about it was Josh O’Connor’s huge cock.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | June 20, 2018 9:43 PM |
He can't have a huge cock. O'Connor is an Irish name.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | June 20, 2018 9:59 PM |
Watch the movie, dimwit.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | June 20, 2018 11:20 PM |
The Romanian looks like he has a musky, hairy hole. Yum!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | June 20, 2018 11:41 PM |
R35 if this was boring what was cmbyn,c-span?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | June 20, 2018 11:45 PM |
When will it be released in US?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | June 20, 2018 11:49 PM |
It's pretty great. I hate to say it, but it is better than Brokeback Mountain. Michelle Williams and Anne Hathaway ruined that movie.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | June 20, 2018 11:52 PM |
R35 Typical 'meriKKKan response.
"Ahh don't understands them axcents!".
by Anonymous | reply 42 | June 20, 2018 11:53 PM |
These types of movies only appeal to frau and forever-alone gays. They're utter schlock without any relation to reality. I'd rather watch a Hallmark Christmas movie!!
by Anonymous | reply 43 | June 21, 2018 2:13 AM |
Frau prefer movies that don't feature explicit butt fucking.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | June 21, 2018 2:22 AM |
Frau love the butt-sex viewing, there's a reason they watch gay porn.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | June 21, 2018 3:17 PM |
It was a lovely movie. Great acting, beautiful photography, gay sex, and a humongous dong
Though subtitles were mandatory because of those thick accents, and the local slang: "noot" "ta" "funny do"
The gypsy actor was the most intelligible
by Anonymous | reply 46 | June 21, 2018 4:45 PM |
Matt the Loon is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!
by Anonymous | reply 47 | June 21, 2018 4:47 PM |
^You sound paranoid. I watched GOC on Netflix and this is my honest opinion. Now go back to hunting imaginary trolls.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | June 21, 2018 4:53 PM |
You sound exactly like the deranged loon who periodically wrecks the theater threads with your nonsense. Go watch Mary Poppins.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | June 21, 2018 4:56 PM |
Yep...the stench of Matt Anscher is choking this thread now.
LOOOOOOOOOOONNNNN
by Anonymous | reply 50 | June 21, 2018 4:57 PM |
GOC was a very, very good film and we're lucky to have it, but it's not BBM and it sure as hell isn't as good as CMBYN.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | June 21, 2018 5:01 PM |
NO, OP.
But it's a nice, little slice of life.

It was a good film, but Broke Back was far superior
by Anonymous | reply 57 | October 6, 2018 3:50 PM |
There's nothing "Godly" about it!
by Anonymous | reply 58 | October 6, 2018 3:51 PM |
I loved God's Own Country. Compelling, gritty. emotional beautiful movie. It's better than Call me By Your Name.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | October 6, 2018 4:18 PM |
Ugh. Bland and boring. And the white guy character was extremely unlikeable. The other guy could have done much better for himself.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | October 6, 2018 4:33 PM |
The Romanian character was Hollywood trope of the flawless, wizened foreigner teaching the boorish westerner about real life. Made the Indians in those recent Queen Victoria movies seem like rapists. He was forgiving, wise in the ways of near-dead sheep, pretty as fuck, romantic, of few words, nonchalantly out-of-the-closet (without any apparant drama given his background??), a tender lover, hard working, continually perfect hair, a good cook, clever employee, tempered drinking partner, and so on. Gave the otherwise good and gritty movie a real Hallmark Channel vibe for me. Still liked the movie but he was Gunga Din.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | October 6, 2018 7:27 PM |
Call me was a pedo movie that makes us look bad, fuck that shitty movie.

I don’t like romances, no matter the genitalia involved, so this as well as BBM and CMBYN were a slog to get through. BMM has the best acting and story out of all of them, but CMBYN and GOC at least seemed like they were made BY gay men FOR gay men, and gave the audience ample male nudity as eye candy. BMM had realistic gay characters but it felt like a gay film made for straight people.
But hey, at least they’re all lightyears ahead of the shitfest known as Love, Simon (which is a textbook example of why women, let alone straight women, should not be writing media about gay men).
