I saw him in the vastly overrated piece of Coen shit Hail Caesar and the Warren Beatty flop. In both, he was totally underwhelming, zero charisma, zero talent.

Spielberg gave him a push because he's a nice Jewish boy and Spielberg is forever looking for the new Richard Dreyfuss.

r7 He has oodles of charisma in Hail Caesar! I'm sorry but you're just dead wrong on that one. That role is exactly why everyone keeps asking why his Han Solo wasn't as charismatic. Turns out, the Caesar role was just a lucky aberration and his default setting is blandness personified.

He's very handsome, and a competent actor. But he was [italic]so[/italic] not the right actor to play Han Solo, and Ron "Play It Safe" Howard was [italic]so[/italic] not the right person to direct that movie. And the studio [italic]so[/italic] needed to stagger the releases of the Star Wars movies more--there's been far too much of a glut of them.

R10 Ron Howard was brought in when shooting was almost over to try to deal with the mess the original directors Lord & Miller had created.

He is boring-unattractive. One of the reasons that movie did not do well.

Alden is cute and was good in the otherwisehorrible Hail Caesar but does not have the height or charisma to play Han. They should have made the movie about Lando and had more Donald glover.

And r7 is laughably wrong. He’s great in Hail Caesar! Haven’t seen him in anything else so that role may be a fluke, but he’s terrific in it.

He's so short. Were movie goers supposed to believe he grew a foot in adulthood? I would say we thought he shrunk but we saw older, taller Han for the first time forty years ago, so it's confusing.

I was so excited for Hail, Caesar because of it's pedigree but BOY was that a disappointment.

Try as I may, I do not see ANYTHING unattractive about him. DL consensus once again off the mark.

I once thought his career was over before it started when Coppola's TETRO came out. And that was almost a decade ago.

He's officially 5' 9" (which probably means 5'7") but super cute. Just kind of "beige on stage," or in this case, zzzzzzz on screen, at least as a leading man.

I was listening to Marc Marons podcast with Josh Brolin. They are talking about Brolins career and, I guess he did hail Caesar with Ehrenreich. Suddenly Brolin starts talking about what a fantastic actor Ehrenreich is, how fantastic he was in the movie, how he's going to be a big star. It was a weird tangent. I guess the powers that be anointed him a star and every one fell in line.

R33 - I initially brought up that he was 5' 9" officially but prob 5'7" in reality, but that was not a strike on him...it's a plus. I am 5' 8" and I love 'em short. Taller than 5'10" is actually a bummer for me.
