I need high quality cotton sheets, Help?

I am still on the hunt for good quality cotton sheets. I do not get it, what is a good brand to get?

I like Egyptian cotton, Smooth & Cool to the touch, high quality sheets. I have both sateen and percale because both are smooth and cool, fine and luxurious to sleep on. I prefer percale as they do not wrinkle.

What do you recommend?

by Anonymousreply 56September 26, 2018 4:07 PM

I like sferra

by Anonymousreply 1May 30, 2018 4:49 AM

Anichini, Pratesi, Sferra, Frette - all great brands. For the most part, you can not go wrong with any of the group. Thread count does play a role, but it has been bastardized and no longer means much. Buy a high quality brand and they will be sumptuous no matter the thread count (these brands do not make bad sheets in general - although avoid their hospitality lines as they are not quite the same standard).

DIdn't we do this last week?

by Anonymousreply 3May 30, 2018 6:45 AM

Anyone know when LL bean has sales on their sheets? Their website froze when I tried to purchase sheets when the memorial day sale code, this week-end.

by Anonymousreply 4May 31, 2018 1:07 AM

Bamboo sheets - seriously.

by Anonymousreply 5May 31, 2018 1:59 AM

Dearest Roseanne, any sheets will do as long as you can cut out the eyeholes and make a pointy hat.

by Anonymousreply 6May 31, 2018 2:05 AM

Cuddledown Batiste. Soft, smooth, lightweight, high quality long staple cotton.

by Anonymousreply 7May 31, 2018 2:09 AM

R4, I am sorry to tell you that LLBean sucks now. And I grew up with it, and believed in its quality.

About 7 years ago, I ordered some of their flannel sheets and was sorely disappointed. They fell apart. Maybe lasted two years. The corners ripped and they wore threadbare in high-contact areas. And I’ve had similar quality concerns with clothing since then, too.

Read the reviews.

by Anonymousreply 8May 31, 2018 2:10 AM

Pratesi. On Madison. The best. Fretted a close second.

by Anonymousreply 9May 31, 2018 2:12 AM

^ Frette.

by Anonymousreply 10May 31, 2018 2:12 AM

If you don’t want to spend the cost of a car on sheets Macy’s has some good ones.

by Anonymousreply 11May 31, 2018 2:13 AM

Im not even awake when I am in bed, do I need to spend a thousand bucks on beddings

by Anonymousreply 12May 31, 2018 2:16 AM

It is between Land's end and LL bean. Any try them? Which are the best sheets?

I like smooth and cool cotton sheets. Percale or sateen, is what I usually get. I thought that Egyptian cotton is the best for the long thread fibers, but I cannot find the quality sheets I once have. I HATE short fibers, they are rough and itchy.

by Anonymousreply 13May 31, 2018 2:17 AM

I love Macy’s sheets.

by Anonymousreply 14May 31, 2018 2:18 AM

I have sheets from Lands End r13. They are the best I’ve found for the price. Much nicer than most others I’ve tried in that price ramge. If you want an even better deal, wait until they go on sale. I wish I could afford Sierra. Or I’ve always loved they idea of buying Porthault sheets because of reading old Dominick Dunne books. Anyone tried Porthault?

by Anonymousreply 15May 31, 2018 3:36 AM

Macy's is having a sale on sheets I bought Hotel Collection Egyptian cotton sheets regular price $250.00 with all the discounts $112.00. Also bought Ralph Lauren sheet set reg. $170.00 with the discounts $70.00.

by Anonymousreply 16September 25, 2018 9:16 PM

Thanks for giving us a heads up R16. I’m off to look now!

by Anonymousreply 17September 25, 2018 9:19 PM

I have both Pratesi and Kirkland (that's right Queens!).

I bought the Kirkland brand sheets at costco and they are 100% cotton and softer than the super pricey Pratesi set.

by Anonymousreply 18September 25, 2018 9:20 PM

[quote]Finally, the towels and sheets at RH are better than what I've gotten from Sferra, Yves Delorme, and Matouk

I'm passing along this from the Restoration Hardware thread. I've never heard of any of those three brands but I'm not that fancy.

by Anonymousreply 19September 25, 2018 9:21 PM

J like Brooklinen but I just got them. Not expensive at all but I don’t know about their longevity

by Anonymousreply 20September 25, 2018 9:22 PM

A bed with some fresh hay is heavenly.

by Anonymousreply 21September 25, 2018 9:22 PM

I used to obsess about cotton sheets and thread count. Then I happened on .. deal of the day microfiber sheet sets from Amazon. Yeah, sneer go ahead. You'll feel better about yourself. Sets for $16 and I feel better about myself and my skinny ass can't tell the difference.

by Anonymousreply 22September 25, 2018 9:22 PM

Threshold 100% cotton sheets...from Target. I dont even need to buy that icky top sheep I never use. They always feel cool...a must be here in Florida

by Anonymousreply 23September 25, 2018 9:27 PM

Go jump in the toilet, OP.

by Anonymousreply 24September 25, 2018 9:29 PM

Names, names, names, names, darling!

by Anonymousreply 25September 25, 2018 9:32 PM

How about a nice smooth high quality Egyptian?

by Anonymousreply 26September 25, 2018 9:35 PM

Macy's. Charter Club, 100% Supima cotton, 550 thread count.

by Anonymousreply 27September 25, 2018 9:35 PM

Dear OP, may I suggest Porthault bed linens, perfect for lapsing into a coma, & they don't clash with one's sketchy Austrian husband.

On a sheets thread? Are you with the KKK or something?

by Anonymousreply 31September 25, 2018 9:47 PM

I spent a fortune on LL bean sheets and they suck. I am returning them. They blatantly lied on there website.

HELP!

by Anonymousreply 32September 25, 2018 9:50 PM

Calm down, r31, I was responding off r28. And I think the KKK loves Trump as much as Dershowitz.

by Anonymousreply 33September 25, 2018 9:50 PM

Getting back to sheets, yes, Macy's is excellent with sales.

by Anonymousreply 34September 25, 2018 9:51 PM

Dollar General

by Anonymousreply 35September 25, 2018 10:13 PM

Didn’t someone here sleep on pine needles or something?

by Anonymousreply 36September 25, 2018 10:33 PM

I have two sets of Nate Berkus sheets from Target... 350 thread count... I love them... soft, cool, just love them. Bought 'em because I like polka dots but never really expected to like them.

by Anonymousreply 37September 25, 2018 10:40 PM

I won’t sleep on the wet spot anymore

by Anonymousreply 38September 25, 2018 10:58 PM

I bought the Brooklinen percale fitted sheet & pillow cases in navy blue. It was less than $100 (total) for those items. The sheets are not thick, but the quality feels good, for the price.

by Anonymousreply 39September 25, 2018 11:28 PM

Sigh, I agree with R8; I recently purchased new sheets from LL Bean & I was disappointed in the quality. I've been buying towels at Costco so I'm looking there for the next sheet set I buy.

by Anonymousreply 40September 25, 2018 11:46 PM

I can’t imagine wanting to go without a top sheet. Doesn’t your bedspread get all cummed up?

by Anonymousreply 41September 25, 2018 11:53 PM

There has been supply issues with Egyptian cotton for the last few years. Sferra had to change their labeling from "Egyptian" to "Extra long staple" (probably American supima). You can still get Egyptian, but you'd be looking at outrageous prices. I linked the only confirmed Egyptian cotton that Sferra is making now (the Giza collection) but the Celeste collection is just as good & not absurdly priced. Celeste is the most popular collection they have.

I don't know where / why all these people are buying Pratesi sheets. High end linen stores gave up selling them because nobody wants to pay $1500 for a sheet that isn't worth the price whatsoever. Even Frette is hard to find. Neiman Marcus and Bloomingdale's home store have the Hotel sheets from Frette, but they're lower quality & not worth it. They don't carry the full collection at all. Linen stores and Bloomingdale's home carry most of the Sferra line.

If you like sateen, the best sheets are from Restoration Hardware. Honestly, even Bed Bath & Beyond had decent King sheets for something like $70. For percale, the Celeste collection from Sferra is probably the best for your money, particularly when it goes on sale - usually 2-3 times a year.

another Brooklinen customer here. I love them. Cool, crisp, percale like the wamsutta sheets from the 70s-80s before the US stopped manufacturing sheets.

I can't stand sateen sheets. I don't know why good percales are so hard to find.

by Anonymousreply 43September 26, 2018 12:04 AM

The Martha Stewart line at Macy’s is pretty good for the price.

by Anonymousreply 44September 26, 2018 12:12 AM

Thomas Lee. You just missed the semi-annual sale.

by Anonymousreply 45September 26, 2018 12:17 AM

Boll & Branch. But Target RoomEssentials brand microfiber is really soft and affordable.

by Anonymousreply 46September 26, 2018 12:22 AM

Those Boll and Branch commercials on radio stations are truly cringe-making. Three living U.S. presidents sleep on their sheets. I call BS

by Anonymousreply 47September 26, 2018 12:40 AM

Another vote for Martha Stewart at Macy's. Nice for the price- especially on sale (which they often are)

by Anonymousreply 48September 26, 2018 1:36 AM

My favorite sheets are Restoration Hardware’s Italian percale sheets. They are generously sized, extremely soft and much higher quality than a more expensive set of Frette sheets which are keep on the guest bed.

by Anonymousreply 49September 26, 2018 5:42 AM

Anything from Schweitzer Linen. The best!

by Anonymousreply 50September 26, 2018 5:51 AM

[quote] Thomas Lee. You just missed the semi-annual sale.

I was just going to say that. I have some brand new sheets from them I have been waiting to use when I get my new mattress. Unfortunately I don't know what the fuck they are talking about with these mattresses and I have still don't have a new one. So the sheets sit in my linen closet waiting for the day I learn to speak mattress.

You don't need 550 count. Seriously this has all become rather ridiculous. What you need is good quality cotton and a good weave. Doesn't matter how high the thread count is (and many of these high counts are just BS and a scam) as long as it's above a certain amount ) if the basic product is crap. I used to insist on a sateen weave and now I prefer a nice percale. I like the sheets crisper than sateen, especially the bottom sheet.

by Anonymousreply 51September 26, 2018 6:32 AM

I cancelled my order for LL Bean sheets they were out of stock and it was taking forever for them to get a new supply.

by Anonymousreply 52September 26, 2018 8:12 AM

No, you don't NEED 550-thread count sheets, r51. But why not if you can get them? I have 100% Supima cotton, 550-thread count sheets and they're great, so why not have a decent thread count at the price I paid on sale at Macy's --$70 for queen size Charter Club sheets, regularly $230?

by Anonymousreply 53September 26, 2018 3:55 PM

I like Peacock Alley's "Soprano" line of sheets.

by Anonymousreply 54September 26, 2018 3:57 PM

"Comphy" sheets are pretty good. Very soft.

by Anonymousreply 55September 26, 2018 4:00 PM

Found out the hard way that it’s best to get the expensive sheets...
