James Read will join the cast of General Hospital next week in the role of Gregory Chase, father of Finn and Chase.

Read is best known to soap fans as the diabolical Clyde Weston on Days of our Lives, role he played from 2014 to 2016.

Outside of daytime, Read is known to TV viewers as George Hazard in the North and South miniseries and as Victor Bennett on the supernatural series Charmed.

WTH? .. At any given point in time, triangles make up a good percentage of soap opera stories. They cause conflict, which is what drama is all about. There's no reason why interlopers and exes shouldn't be part of the gay storyline as well.

Watch something like British soap, Hollyoaks, where recently five gay men were linked in storyline. We had ex-lovers (Ste & Harry), secret boyfriends, on on the downlow (Ste & Ryan), a one-night obsession turned ugly (Kyle & Ryan), a quid-pro-quo relationship based on sex for cash (James & Harry), etc. .. And while Ryan was killed off, they're still playing the quartet of Ste & Harry with James & Kyle.

Wilson reuniting without any other gay guys around to cause trouble sounds really boring.

There has to be a complication for romantic couples on soaps. If it's not a another person or persons then it's going to be a secret or an illness or something. I prefer love triangles where both sides are equal. For instance you may want Marlena to end up with John, but you would still be okay if she stayed with Roman. For Will, Sonny, and Paul, Will and Paul are the better couple in my opinion. Sonny is that type of character with so much potential but it's being wasted because the actor isn't capable of taking the part to the next level. But I still don't think that Will has found his "John" or his "EJ".
