Didn't Jason Bateman get Valerie Harper fired from The Hogan Family? Valerie had to sue to get her name cleared and she won. Sandy Duncan was brought in as a last minute replacement.

I remember Valerie's celebrity friends holding a big support gala for her at the Beverly Hilton: Entertainment Tonight covered it. Betty White, Cloris, Ed Asner, Julie Kavner, Roberta Flack all attended. Mary Tyler Moore issued a public statement in support of her good friend.

Bateman can't shut its trap in the interview, injecting himself into the situation, and almost saying in essence that Jessica had it coming. STFU you obnoxious little jizzbag!

Team Jessica Walter obviously, but I still find it uncomfortable to "cancel" Bateman and Tambor just over what basically constitutes as workplace drama (rather than anything criminal or sexual).

He gets a lot of work and had a HUGE career comeback (after being completely forgotten)—this usually speaks of someone who has built up a lot of good will in the industry and has those they have worked with in the past rooting for them (meaning they’re not known assholes).

I like Bateman and have been happy for him about his extraordinary and unusual career comeback.

I also have only ever heard on DL gossip threads that he was supposedly “nice” behind the scenes.

Was none of that true? Was he really just an asshole?

It's perfectly possible that both the trannies on Transparent were lying to get Tambor out, and Tambor being an angry, abusive cunt. One doesn't prove the other.

For years I have heard nothing but negative things about Jessica Walter being an absolute nightmare.

Usually, when I hear something like that, it ruins it for me, but Walter is usually so perfectly suited for her roles it actually never bothered me that she might be a fucking bitch in real life.

Perhaps, Bateman was coaxing her down before others got fed up and started calling her out on her shit in a very public forum. He seems to have been putting things in very general terms not to necessarily let Jeffrey off the hook, but to say we’ve ALL been guilty of behaving badly in what can sometimes be a volatile creative environment.

It seems Jess just couldn’t let go of her moment of victimhood - even when she confessed she needed to let it go, she really wasn’t letting it go. At. All.

Oh cute, blame it on her. I have never heard rumors about her. He on the other hand was fired. His volatile temper was mentioned, not just the harassment. I get that he might have been joking or thought he was being cute, but most women, trans or not, don't want to be pretend humped from the back by some ugly 70 year old guy. Even if one women thinks it is funny, it doesnt matter. And legally, it is still harassment. And just gross. Where the fuck do some of you work that this is ok?

I love Jessica, but insiders say she can be very frustrating to work with because of her affects, and more than one cast member referenced that Jeffrey didn't go from zero to sixty that day. It doesn't excuse his behavior, but I think getting out the torches and pitchforks against Bateman is a bit much. I wouldn't be surprised if Jessica had been trying everyone's patience that day. But that's why she's so wonderful in the role. I've also heard that Tambor is a handful - so I'm surprised there was only one flare up between those two over the years.

I've only heard that Bateman is well liked in the industry, and you don't stay well liked by being an asshole.

The most telling exchange in the whole article for me was between Walter and Arnett.

Jessica says she has Lucille in her DNA and Will says sarcastically "No!"

So you know she can be a real PAIN on the set, but all the younger cast members like Bateman, Arnett, Cross etc let it go out of respect for her long career. But Tambor is older than her so he probably lost control and chewed her out. I wonder if the other cast members were secretly yelling 'yes!' inside.

She's clearly no Tambor-ine.

That early comment by Arnett about how Jessica Walter was just as nasty as Lucille seemed way out of line. Arnett is a noted asshole, as is David Cross, and of course Tambor has been known to pitch fits for years. But when she said she was somewhat like Lucille Bluth herself, Arnett did that sarcastic "No!" which you know he wouldn't have done to anyone else.

It was like they were trying to undermine her from the beginning. Very creepy.
