No Lin for me!

by Anonymousreply 1May 19, 2018 4:22 AM

good god it was an insufferable show!!

by Anonymousreply 2May 19, 2018 4:34 AM

Ugh....I was dragged to it.

My hatred of musicals was increased.

by Anonymousreply 3May 19, 2018 4:41 AM

I went to see it because of the great reviews. I was not impressed. I’m one of the minority of NYers who doesn’t want Hamilton tickets.

I suppose the movie version of In the Heights would be better because it doesn’t take place on a stage that looks way too much like Sesame Street

So basically another Oscar bait virtue-signaling movie the public will ignore?

[quote]virtue-signalling movie

Meaningless accusation.

Anyway, Lin-Manuel Miranda was so short and squeaky on CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM. His face is fine, but he was physically unappealing and has an awful speaking voice. I don’t know how he’ll translate to being a film actor. He has sold his soul to The Mouse, anyway. He is involved in the DUCK TALES reboot.

r6 no it's not meaningless. Kendrick Lamar just won a Pulitzer Prize for *music*, FFS.

Hollywood is following the money (and fearing the boycotts), and scooping up any bullshit with minorities attached. They are lazy about finding actual movie talent, so they'll grab any existing commodity, whether it translates or not. LMM is a double whammy.

He's Bert or the Bert successor in the Mary Poppins reboot. Once that film opens, his film career will be extremely modest if it even exists.

He's determined to get an EGOT.

by Anonymousreply 9May 19, 2018 5:48 AM

One good song in The Heights

3 in Hamilton

So he's getting better.
