I saw her on Broadway a couple of weeks ago in Three Tall Women -- from the front row. She looks AMAZING. She literally could pass for a woman 15-18 years younger than her true age of 62.
Plastic surgery.
I also don't think you know what a 62 year old looks like, OP.

She looks in her 70s in that pic.

R1 - my mom's 62 and most her friends are in their early 60s. Laurie looks great. And even if she's had work done, it looks natural. Unlike, say, Madge.

She looks fine! She sends her love!

I was amazed at how smokin' hot her bod was as she walked to the couch on her Seth Meyers appearance.

She looks like shit. You cannot be serious.

Anyone who's had the pleasure of seeing her onstage can attest:
Her energy is incredible. She is completely at ease in her face and her body, and it shows. Amazing control and stamina; great use of her voice (though Glenda Jackson is setting the bar incredibly high on Bway right now).
I enjoy her on ROSEANNE and the occasional movie, but she was born for the stage. And I think that's what keeps her vital, OP.

R4 She looks like she just walked out of a monsoon.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | May 16, 2018 3:44 AM |
I don't think she's had any plastic surgery. With good lighting and makeup she can look much younger.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | May 16, 2018 3:46 AM |
She's going to be 63 in June. She needs to find a good hair stylist.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | May 16, 2018 3:49 AM |
Wow, you queens cannot be serious! My partner and I always talk about how horrible she looks every week when we watch Roseanne. I think she looks older than Roseanne Barr. Her neck has fallen, her eyes are sunken, she has jowls for days and looks like crap.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | May 16, 2018 3:50 AM |
She eats corn on the cob with her bare hands rather than with those little yellow corncob shaped handles.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | May 16, 2018 3:59 AM |
R10, you're such as stupid ass. She had her eyes done a loooong time ago, facelift more recently. Actors don't necessarily have plastic surgery because of vanity, they have plastic surgery to keep on working.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | May 16, 2018 1:04 PM |
I love her, she was amazing on the show Getting On, but she looks her age. And I don't care. Except for Rosanne, I'd watch her in anything.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | May 16, 2018 1:23 PM |
she wouldn't bad if she didnt have the really short hair. she has nice hair she should allow it to compliment her
by Anonymous | reply 17 | May 16, 2018 1:25 PM |
She is a good actor.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | May 16, 2018 1:31 PM |
She looks her age and there is nothing wrong with that. When she was younger she looked older for her age. Really unfortunate we have become a youth appearance society.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | May 16, 2018 1:44 PM |
I am surprised they are not giving Jackie any kind of real POV on Roseanne. She was by far the best and most interesting character in the early seasons.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | May 16, 2018 1:53 PM |
She is way over acting on the new Roseanne. I know some on here think she's a "genius" on the reboot, but her over acting and bulging eyes is making Jackie come off weird. It's like she is the female Don Knotts. But after he left Mayberry and got annoying.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | May 16, 2018 2:10 PM |
r21, that is exactly how she played it in the later years of the original run.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | May 16, 2018 2:27 PM |
She look fine for a character actress and could probably play between 50-65. That neck is starting to go though.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | May 16, 2018 2:48 PM |
The neck is hard to fix, R23. I think Christy Brinkley looks good until I look at her neck and realize she's had a lot of work. Laurie looks great for her age, and confidence is a marvelous rejuvenator.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | May 16, 2018 2:52 PM |
I've seen better necks on a Galapagos turtle.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | May 16, 2018 2:57 PM |
Plus she's had fillers and botox and a careful lift. Obviously.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | May 16, 2018 2:57 PM |
I love her, but she plays the exact same character in every role she does
by Anonymous | reply 27 | May 16, 2018 3:00 PM |
Her eyes became sunken right after she turned 34-40, which aged her fast.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | May 16, 2018 3:05 PM |
I'm disappointed in her over the top performance on the Roseanne reboot.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | May 16, 2018 3:08 PM |
It is very cartoon-ish. Jackie was supposed to be the "wacky best friend" character, so that's why you had the original portrayal. Crystal was going to be that person, but then Jackie turned out to be capable of it - so they shifted her away from the "straight man" cop to the wacky aunt (this was all in some article I read).
Regarding her performance, I am hesitant to blame Laurie, because she is so seasoned & has been around forever (long before Roseanne 1.0 she was in theater, highly respected). I wonder if the director is pushing her to do this.
Regarding her face... her ears don't have that facelift hallmark... that is nearly impossible to avoid. She wears her hair behind her ears, and most women after facelifts will wear it in front of the ears to disguise the shift with their ear lobe and the "tragus" (just google it if you care - it is easy to tell when that is not normal due to surgery)
by Anonymous | reply 30 | May 16, 2018 3:38 PM |
No, they don't ..... .what? Can you form a complete sentence? Is the issue with the word "most" because "most" does not mean "all." Some women don't care. Also, some don't have as much of a deformity in that area depending on the surgeon and how their skin heals, either.
Lynne Cheney has minimal deformation of the tragus but she may be camouflaging a pixie ear deformity with an earring (very common - see Barbara Walters too). She also lost her side burn, which happens to nearly all patients. Men get hair transplants here post op because it can look pretty bizarre.
Mika also has a clearly postoperative tragus. She doesn't care if people notice, and most people do not because it wasn't that bad of a deformity.

R32 = new here
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 17, 2018 1:57 AM |
R33 = still can't form a complete sentence.

I fondly recall the first time I saw Metcalf: in DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN (1985) as Rosanna Arquette's sister-in-law, a kibitzing, tragically unmarried suburbanite who seemed to be rapidly and unwillingly approaching middle age. She was fresh and funny in that small role, and a great comic foil for Mark Blum.
Laurie was barely 30 at the time and fresh out of the Chicago theatre scene: pretty much the opposite of her character. I only wish she'd gotten a chance to do more of that comedic character work in film earlier on, but it was not to be.
At least now, at 62, with ROSEANNE redux, LADY BIRD, and THREE TALL WOMEN, she seems to be riding a wave. Well deserved.

She was in JFK. She blended seamlessly into the character.
