First still of Tyler Hoechlin in bodybuilding film "Bigger"

Goodnight everybody.

by Anonymousreply 378Last Tuesday at 5:36 PM

Will this shock the world?

by Anonymousreply 105/10/2018

I'll need to see him from behind.

by Anonymousreply 205/10/2018

I'd hit it

by Anonymousreply 305/10/2018

As long as everyone in the cast has a full frontal nude scene, it could be a massive hit

by Anonymousreply 405/10/2018

Nice chesticles

by Anonymousreply 505/10/2018

Is he the Natural Bodybuilder who gets sand kicked in his face at the beach?

by Anonymousreply 605/10/2018
by Anonymousreply 705/10/2018

Are Tyler and Colton going to wear Speedos with VPL?

by Anonymousreply 805/10/2018

Tyler has an amazing body, but I always thought that he was a bit of a butterface.

He also lacks charisma, which is a turn off for me.

On Teen Wolf, Dylan O'Brien and Tyler Posey each had WAY more personality. Hoechlin was always in the background.

by Anonymousreply 905/10/2018

From behind

by Anonymousreply 1005/12/2018

Maybe that Superman butt WAS fake

by Anonymousreply 1105/12/2018

ms hough u ole dyke.....

by Anonymousreply 1205/12/2018

I'm sorry but that body in that swimsuit is magnificent!

by Anonymousreply 1305/12/2018

Are they supposed to be Mickey & Jayne? If so, fail.

by Anonymousreply 1405/12/2018

So do we know Tyler’s sexual orientation?

by Anonymousreply 1505/12/2018

A woman to tone down the inevitable homoeroticism in bodybuilding :P

by Anonymousreply 1605/12/2018

lipstick lez, she likes bulldagger truck drivers. ... viva la difference

by Anonymousreply 1705/12/2018

There's not much energy coming off that face. He's charisma deficient.

But I am forgiving. I'd fuck him!

by Anonymousreply 1805/12/2018

Tell him to drop to all fours and do some glute kickbacks. That’ll shape up that ass in no time.

by Anonymousreply 1905/12/2018

He's playing Joe Weider, and kind of looks like him.

But who is THIS guy from R10's link?

by Anonymousreply 2005/12/2018

Lots of hotties in this film. Billy Reilich plays Reg Park.

by Anonymousreply 2105/12/2018

Obviously the only value of a movie like this is the sexy muscles and orgies.

by Anonymousreply 2205/12/2018

Hoechlin doesn’t even look like a bodybuilder. What character is he playing?

by Anonymousreply 2305/12/2018

And this guy. Yumm.

by Anonymousreply 2405/12/2018

And starring Datalounge's favorite hometown boy, Calum.

by Anonymousreply 2505/12/2018

R23, see R20. Joe Weider.

by Anonymousreply 2605/12/2018

R26 = idiot

by Anonymousreply 2705/12/2018

Why you say that, R27?

by Anonymousreply 2805/12/2018

The blond guy is possible actor Ben Gavin.

by Anonymousreply 2905/12/2018

Never mind, it's not Ben Gavin, although Ben Gavin is hot af

by Anonymousreply 3005/12/2018

R29, I thought of him at first as well, but no way he could have gained 50lbs of muscle for this flick.

by Anonymousreply 3105/12/2018

I found him! It's IG model Steve Cook

by Anonymousreply 3205/12/2018

BTW going through the IMDB credits for this movie was fun, lots of hot actors.

by Anonymousreply 3305/12/2018

Meet the man playing young Arnold Schwarzy...

by Anonymousreply 3405/12/2018

Good find, 32. Looks like he may be family.

by Anonymousreply 3505/12/2018
by Anonymousreply 3605/12/2018

None of these guys are gay.

by Anonymousreply 3705/12/2018

Ben Gavin's insta, if anyone's curious. Not the same guy but still good looking.

by Anonymousreply 3805/12/2018

R9 Do you realize he was not the main character of the show???? Seriously, some people here....

by Anonymousreply 3905/12/2018
Tyler has an amazing body, but I always thought that he was a bit of a butterface.

You're blind.

by Anonymousreply 4005/12/2018
So do we know Tyler’s sexual orientation?

Straight
Tell him to drop to all fours and do some glute kickbacks. That’ll shape up that ass in no time.

He should also be filmed while doing it.
Do you realize he was not the main character of the show???? Seriously, some people here....

Alot of TW fans forget that lol

by Anonymousreply 4105/12/2018
Tell him to drop to all fours and do some glute kickbacks.

Glute kickbacks are useless. It's all about squats, RDLs, hip thrusts and GHRs, brah.

by Anonymousreply 4205/12/2018
There's not much energy coming off that face. He's charisma deficient.

by Anonymousreply 4305/12/2018
by Anonymousreply 4405/12/2018

Is he not aging well?

by Anonymousreply 4505/12/2018

R45 He's getting there.

by Anonymousreply 4605/12/2018

He's aging great you mean R45.

by Anonymousreply 4705/12/2018

I've loved Steve Cook for years. Always hoped he was gay but doubt it. Good to see him in this movie.

by Anonymousreply 4805/12/2018

I expect the movie to be unrealistic excessively heterosexulised for the sake of cleansing the image of bodybuilding associated with homosexuality and homoeroticism.

by Anonymousreply 4905/12/2018

I think you are right, R49. When is this movie being released?

by Anonymousreply 5005/12/2018

Who is R43?

by Anonymousreply 5105/12/2018

Tyler Hoechlin from Road to Perdition R51

From 2002

by Anonymousreply 5205/12/2018

Is he going to get bigger for "Bigger"? Although he's very nicely built and sexy, he doesn't look much like an actual bodybuilder to me.

by Anonymousreply 5305/12/2018

You're thinking about bodybuilders of today R53

by Anonymousreply 5405/12/2018

Tyler and the actual Joe Weider.

by Anonymousreply 5505/12/2018

He's way too built to play Joe.

by Anonymousreply 5605/12/2018

Why was this movie necessary? I get it's nice to see attractive people being attractive, but is there a background story, or point I'm missing?

by Anonymousreply 5705/12/2018

It's s relevant as Magic Mike, except, they won't advertise it for gay guys.

by Anonymousreply 5805/12/2018

R50 Sometime this year.

by Anonymousreply 5905/13/2018

Can't wait for the porn version of this movie.

by Anonymousreply 6005/13/2018

I'm kind of amazed one of Tyler's movies gets a theater release and not a VOD.

by Anonymousreply 6105/13/2018

R61 Lol same. He hasn't had one in a while (unless you count Fifty Shades or EWS).

by Anonymousreply 6205/13/2018

Lol, I love how his fans have no faith in his career but love him anyway.

by Anonymousreply 6305/13/2018

R63 Some of them do. They're expectations are set a little too high though.

by Anonymousreply 6405/13/2018

I wouldn't pay to watch this movie, there isn't anyhting particularly worth watching I'm friad, but I'm interested in how the movie will ignore any hints of homosexuality.

by Anonymousreply 6505/14/2018

BOSS

by Anonymousreply 6605/14/2018
I wouldn't pay to watch this movie, there isn't anyhting particularly worth watching I'm friad,

Unless eye candy is all you care about lol

by Anonymousreply 6705/15/2018

I like that he fully knows he's beefcake and uses that to his advantage.

by Anonymousreply 6805/15/2018

R68 Me too. Teen Wolf taught him well.

by Anonymousreply 6905/15/2018

There was something so whorey about him in "Everybody wants Some!!" (where the gif is from at r689) that was really sexy. One thing I liked about that movie was that the actors were clearly on display for beefcake purposes. I am curious whether or not Richard Linklater is closeted, given how homoerotic the movie was.

by Anonymousreply 7005/15/2018
There was something so whorey about him in "Everybody wants Some!!" (where the gif is from at [R689]) that was really sexy.

Like most jocks.

by Anonymousreply 7105/15/2018

Am I the only one who doesn't know how to pronounce his last name?

by Anonymousreply 7205/15/2018

Heck-lin

by Anonymousreply 7305/15/2018

R72 He has it in his twitter bio.

by Anonymousreply 7405/15/2018

Obviously the movie relies heavily on display of the male body but there is nothing about it that's going to leave a lasting impression in one's mind. I also highly doubt people have ever heard about Weider. R67

Didn't this man create bodybuilding mags with a clear soft gay porn vibe precisely to attract gay guys to his product at the time?

by Anonymousreply 7505/15/2018

Is Hoechlin a Native American name?

by Anonymousreply 7605/15/2018

I'd fuck him hard

by Anonymousreply 7705/15/2018
Is Hoechlin a Native American name?

Sounds German to me but i think he's said he does have Native American ancestry.
I'd fuck him hard

It's a long line, anon.

by Anonymousreply 7805/16/2018
Didn't this man create bodybuilding mags with a clear soft gay porn vibe precisely to attract gay guys to his product at the time?

Actually, kind of the opposite, R75. Before him, those "body culture" mags were all homoerotic. He took them mainstream.

by Anonymousreply 7905/16/2018

Birth Name: Tyler Lee Hoechlin

Place of Birth: Corona, Riverside, California, United States

Date of Birth: September 11, 1987

Ethnicity: *German, Swiss-German (father) *English, German, Norwegian, Scottish, Irish (mother)

Tyler Hoechlin is an American actor and baseball player.

by Anonymousreply 8005/16/2018

He's a 9/11 birthday. Why did you post the rest of that info, R80?

by Anonymousreply 8105/16/2018

because r76 and r78 were discussing his ancestry. The answer is lots of German and no Native American.

by Anonymousreply 8205/16/2018

Höchlin then...

by Anonymousreply 8305/16/2018

For r57:
The inspirational tale of the grandfathers of fitness as we now know it, Joe and Ben Weider. Battling anti-Semitism and racism, as well as extreme poverty, the brothers beat all odds to build an empire and inspire future generations.

Tyler plays Joe Weider. Aneurin Bernard plays his brother Ben.

by Anonymousreply 8405/16/2018

Tyler looked hotter when he was younger at R84.

by Anonymousreply 8505/16/2018

r85 Yes...he did, didn't he, Rose?

by Anonymousreply 8605/16/2018

I thought the actual sex object in the movie was going to be Calum Von Moger.

by Anonymousreply 8705/16/2018

He looks grotesque.

by Anonymousreply 8805/16/2018
Höchlin then...

It's "Hoechlin" damn it.

by Anonymousreply 8905/16/2018

Oe = German ö.

by Anonymousreply 9005/16/2018

That's nice, r90. But what does it SOUND like?

by Anonymousreply 9105/16/2018

I think the sound exists in British English in words like "low" or "oh". R91

by Anonymousreply 9205/16/2018

So it's HOKE-lin, not HECK-lin?

by Anonymousreply 9305/16/2018

No, British English in words like "low" is a dyphthong that ends with a u; the first vowel in that dyphthong resembles German ö.

by Anonymousreply 9405/16/2018

But what does it SOUND like?

by Anonymousreply 9505/16/2018

R95 Why don't you just watch one of his interviews on youtube.

by Anonymousreply 9605/17/2018

That was not a link to "one of his interviews on youtube," r96.

by Anonymousreply 9705/17/2018
by Anonymousreply 9805/17/2018

I don't care how Tyler pronounces it. He pronounces it wrong to make it more appealing as an actor. I want to know how it's supposed to be pronounced.

by Anonymousreply 9905/17/2018

I have heard contradictory things about him, from homosexuality to homophobia, but still he built an empire exploiting the sexy bodies of men R79

by Anonymousreply 10005/17/2018

Uh okay

by Anonymousreply 10105/18/2018
I don't care how Tyler pronounces it. He pronounces it wrong to make it more appealing as an actor.

If you say so.

by Anonymousreply 10205/18/2018
I don't care how Tyler pronounces it. He pronounces it wrong to make it more appealing as an actor. I want to know how it's supposed to be pronounced.

He's of Swiss-German descent. In German the [oe] or umlaut o is an "eur" and the [ch] is a hard 'k.' However, Tyler chooses to pronounce the [oe] in the way the French [œ] is pronounced when followed by a consonant--an [é] sound. This reflects Tyler's Swiss-German as opposed to German patrimony.

Another example of this Francification of German surnames is French composer Charles Koechlin (Charl KEKlann), who was of part German ancestry.

by Anonymousreply 10405/18/2018

*patronymy

Can't type today!

by Anonymousreply 10505/18/2018
this Francification of German surnames

My German-surnamed grandfather pronounced his surname as if it were French.

by Anonymousreply 10605/18/2018

It is pronounced "Yanni"

by Anonymousreply 10705/18/2018

Let's title the gay porn version. I say " Bugger"

by Anonymousreply 10805/18/2018

So who is Tyler's gay porn double?

by Anonymousreply 10905/18/2018

In German you pronounce it as if it were "herklin" but with a British accent, dropping the r, and pronouncing the k as in Scottish "loch."

But some regions of Germany pronounce the oe like a regular e.

by Anonymousreply 11005/18/2018

So, you people find Calum Von Moger gross?

by Anonymousreply 11105/19/2018

People who call him gross would faint if he suddenly appeared at their bedside. All that muscle is so magnificent and overwhelming. They would tremble with ecstasy.

Has anyone felt this kind of muscle? How cool and smooth it feels?

by Anonymousreply 11205/19/2018

I have, bigger than him and it feels good. He was twice my weight at the time.

by Anonymousreply 11305/19/2018
People who call him gross would faint if he suddenly appeared at their bedside. All that muscle is so magnificent and overwhelming. They would tremble with ecstasy.

"Overwhelming" I'll buy. If I were to "tremble," however, it would be at the ostentation of it. "Ecstasy" would not happen. Not everyone is a Muscle Mary!, Mary!

by Anonymousreply 11405/19/2018
So, you people find Calum Von Moger gross?

I wouldn't say gross but vein popping isn't attractive.

by Anonymousreply 11505/19/2018

r115 He also looks as if he smells.

by Anonymousreply 11605/19/2018

R116 Guess it depends on who it is.

by Anonymousreply 11705/19/2018

R117, I was NOT talking about Tyler, but rather Muscle von Moger. Tyler looks as if he'd smell like heaven.

by Anonymousreply 11805/19/2018

Tyler's body is nice but his face looks like the gargoyle.

by Anonymousreply 11905/19/2018

R118 I know, which is why i said depends on [bold]who[/bold] it is.

R119 Not seeing it. This might be a better comparison.

by Anonymousreply 12005/19/2018

Tyler Howeveryosayit is a delight to behold. A little hairy for my taste, but I'm already over it.

by Anonymousreply 12105/19/2018

I think he looks better when he's hairy but that rarely happens when he's working.

by Anonymousreply 12205/19/2018

r122 Just perfect.

Someone thought Muscle Von Mary! was going to be the sex symbol of this movie?

by Anonymousreply 12305/19/2018

Love the little trail, especially peeking out in the clip at R71. Does Richard Linklater, too?

by Anonymousreply 12405/19/2018

If I see this movie (not very likely) it will be because of Tyler or Aneurin Barnard, who plays his brother.

by Anonymousreply 12505/19/2018

I want to be between those thighs.

by Anonymousreply 12605/19/2018
Just perfect.

Perfectly lickable.

by Anonymousreply 12705/19/2018

R127 What IS that?

by Anonymousreply 12805/19/2018

R127 Tyler getting his abs licked on Teen Wolf.

by Anonymousreply 12905/19/2018

What is that thing with the strings glued to his abs?

by Anonymousreply 13005/19/2018
by Anonymousreply 13105/19/2018

Tyler has insane cheekbones. It's like they've been sculpted from bronze or marble.

by Anonymousreply 13205/19/2018

Another young photo.

by Anonymousreply 13305/19/2018

How does anyone not find him hott, hott, hott?

by Anonymousreply 13405/19/2018

Hott, hott, hott. The star of our show.

by Anonymousreply 13505/19/2018

R132 Lol at that terrible manip. But i agree with you.

by Anonymousreply 13605/19/2018

He needs to put on more muscle for the movie I guess...

by Anonymousreply 13705/22/2018
Tyler has insane cheekbones. It's like they've been sculpted from bronze or marble.

Must be his part Native American background.

by Anonymousreply 13805/22/2018

What manip, R136?

by Anonymousreply 13905/22/2018

Does he have a vagina at R126? What's with the camel toe?

by Anonymousreply 14005/22/2018
What manip

It must be because of his part Japanese background.

by Anonymousreply 14105/22/2018
What's with the camel toe?

It probably because of his part Arabic background.

by Anonymousreply 14205/22/2018

R137 Too late for that.

R139 The photo R132 posted.

by Anonymousreply 14305/23/2018

Boss bro

by Anonymousreply 14405/27/2018

r121 hoechlin is pronounced Heck-lin

by Anonymousreply 14505/27/2018

r145 Finally. THANK you.

by Anonymousreply 14605/27/2018

R145 I guess it needed repeating lol

by Anonymousreply 14705/27/2018

You English speaking people never take a second to learn second language. It increases IQ.

by Anonymousreply 14805/27/2018

by Anonymousreply 15305/28/2018

I like boxer briefs

by Anonymousreply 15405/28/2018

They hadn't been invented yet, r154.

by Anonymousreply 15505/28/2018

He posted this tweet after deleting the original.

by Anonymousreply 15605/28/2018

R156 Not him. It's a fake.

by Anonymousreply 15705/28/2018

This is a fake account?

by Anonymousreply 15805/28/2018

This is Tyler's account.

by Anonymousreply 16406/02/2018

Just imgine all the excited hetero bodybuilding fans crowding the theaters and awing at the sight of muscle men on the screen. That's going to be hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 16506/02/2018

No, r164, you "talk normal."

by Anonymousreply 16606/02/2018

honeychild they all gay fer the right price....

dint yo momma teach u nothin??????????

by Anonymousreply 16706/02/2018

R167 Not your best look.

by Anonymousreply 16806/02/2018

Hoechlin looks pretty but has no actual presence or charisma at all. It's like with Henry Cavill who looks pretty but is a void when it comes to personality. To me that's because they obviously are hold back to keep everybody else at a distance. With Cavill it's because he's a closet case, what does Hoechlin have to hide?

by Anonymousreply 16906/02/2018

Still hot

by Anonymousreply 17006/02/2018

Sorry. To me that's because they obviously are HOLDING back (as in doing their best to be difficult to read through their body language) to keep everybody else at a distance.

by Anonymousreply 17106/02/2018

Some people are innately reserved and stoic ya know

by Anonymousreply 17206/02/2018
Hoechlin looks pretty but has no actual presence or charisma at all.

I disagree with you on the charisma but lately he hasn't had a chance to show it. Although now i'm wondering what would have happened if he'd worked with Cavill on Stratton 😄
With Cavill it's because he's a closet case, what does Hoechlin have to hide?

I don't think he has anything to hide. I think it's more to do with the fact that acting isn't his passion, it was baseball.
To me that's because they obviously are HOLDING back (as in doing their best to be difficult to read through their body language) to keep everybody else at a distance.

I do agree with you on that. Which is weird because he's better with physicality than line delivery.

by Anonymousreply 17306/02/2018

I hope they cover this part in the movie..............i met so many hot men through him................joe millionaire , rob sager, There were even allegations Weider “pimped” his athletes to closeted gay men—but it was all very “don’t ask, don’t tell.”................

by Anonymousreply 17406/02/2018
Co-Executive Producer Dan Solomon tells us the film is now complete. “Director George Gallo created something beautiful, an emotionally charged, multi-layered, period piece spanning all the decades of Joe’s life. I can’t give away details, but we are all incredibly proud of how it came together. This is the largest budgeted bodybuilding themed production ever made. Executive Producer Eric Weider and Producers Steve Lee Jones and Scott LaStaiti have given us something quite remarkable.”

I doubt they'll cover the pimping part R174.

by Anonymousreply 17506/02/2018

Of course not. That has no mainstream appeal

by Anonymousreply 17606/02/2018

R9. what is it on this site about the queens always threatening to BLOCK, i mean so what, block away. its not a magic wand or something. the dumb twats on this site that always threaten to BLOCK, act like its an explosive or something, what dumb little bitches they are.........jeez.

by Anonymousreply 17706/02/2018

True dude

by Anonymousreply 17806/02/2018

Almost as dumb, r177, as those who shriek about BLOCKing to a poster who did not even type the word "BLOCK".......jeez.

by Anonymousreply 17906/03/2018

R177 What are you talking about?

by Anonymousreply 18006/03/2018

Tyler Sexlin.

by Anonymousreply 18106/09/2018

Lol at Holland's face.

by Anonymousreply 18206/09/2018

He should show VPL in the movie.

by Anonymousreply 18306/09/2018

R183 We'll have to wait and see.

by Anonymousreply 18406/09/2018

R183's pic is hot.

by Anonymousreply 18506/09/2018

Everyone one was so tan in that movie. They all looked like Oompa Loompas.

by Anonymousreply 18606/09/2018

Bodybuilding is gay.

by Anonymousreply 18706/10/2018

R187 Good to know.

by Anonymousreply 18806/11/2018

Why is it so offensive to state that bodybuilding is gay?

by Anonymousreply 18906/11/2018

R187

by Anonymousreply 19006/11/2018

Have they announced when this film will be released yet?

by Anonymousreply 19106/11/2018

Because most guys think “gay” is bad. Very bad.

by Anonymousreply 19206/11/2018

R191 Nope.

by Anonymousreply 19306/11/2018

Then don't do bodybuilding or don't look at those scantily clad muscle men. You can't expect a "sport" that revolves around sexy muscular men who flaunt their scantily clad bodies in a beauty contest not to be greatly homoerotic both implicitly and explicitly.

by Anonymousreply 19406/11/2018

R192..........and the reason its "BAD" is because all the dweebs, flamers hyjacked it and made it theirs. i remember coming to los angeles in the 80s, and so many hot , intelligent , beautiful men. the clubs never let the masses in..... being "GAY" was special.....well, i knew when the original abbey coffee cake restaurant opened and all the weird looking goth types took over , skinny , dark, ugly little dweebs lingering in corners, well, GAY changed to that and its never been the same............

by Anonymousreply 19506/11/2018

Bodybuilding is not gay. Gay love it cause they love a good muscular body (but not a steroid freak).

But it's not because gay men specially love it that bodybuilders themselves are gay. Some are, some are hetero.

by Anonymousreply 19606/11/2018

R195 is one old, delusional faguette

by Anonymousreply 19706/11/2018

When people say bodybuilding is gay they are not necessarily saying bodybuilders are gay although a great number certainly are. What is being actually said is that it is inherently a homoerotic activity. They stand beautiful and ideally masculine in front of an audience that is mostly male and judges who are also men who rate them on their looks. As such, bodybuilders must flaunt their bodies and enchant the senses of the judges so as to make them give them the highest score. It is pretty much a battle of seduction.

I know bodybuilders from gay to hetero and it is not uncommon that many heterosexual bodybuidlers do enjoy male atention or gay attention. They may not be attracted to men, but that doesn't stop them from enjoying being some kind of sexual fantasy for other men. Some bodybuilders do know the power of body language coming from their bodies and are not shy to pose intentionally erotic just to have influence on a judge's scoring decision.

by Anonymousreply 19806/11/2018

Homo-erotic stuff is not gay stuff.

If you take painting, tons of homo-erotic stuff by your criteria but still in church. Appreciating the beauty of the human body (male or female) is not gay, it's normal stuff.

Saying that gay men appreciate it even more is just as saying water is wet.

by Anonymousreply 19906/11/2018

"Appreciating the beauty of the human body". Such bullshit.

If the people who come up with tha crap really appreciated the beauty of the human body they'd not be obsessed exclusively with muscles, sexy muscles of nerly naked men. No one buys that euphemistic crap. Muscles sell because they mean sex.

by Anonymousreply 20006/12/2018

Sure, the Vatican is selling sex with its porno ceilings of half naked men.

Your life must be sad if muscles only mean sex for you.

by Anonymousreply 20106/12/2018

bodybuilding is a pond from which 'mentors' volunteer to 'sponsor' the hot young talent, even Arnold went thru such games....fish on queens.

by Anonymousreply 20206/12/2018

Do you know who painted the Vatican? Besides, in the bible nudity is stigmatised for its sexually arousing nature, but the Vatican isn't precisely about following the bible to the letter.

by Anonymousreply 20306/12/2018

Studies have shown men who weightlift and bodybuild tend to believe in more conventional, traditional gender roles. So many men into bodybuilding today are into being Alpha males and beasts. For a myriad of reasons, male homosexuals are still widely Viewed as effeminate or unmanly, and most openly gay men still display traits and mannerisms that are not considered masculine. Gay male culture, which celebrates drag queens and calling men female pronouns, is not known for its machismo or fostering of Alphas. Hence, most bodybuilders and Gym bros avoid explicitly gay identity and associations.

by Anonymousreply 20406/12/2018

R203 Yes I know who painted the Vatican but it was still a Vatican's order so I guess they did not really had a problem with it at the time. And the meaning of nudity than was not the same as today.

Then about nudity in the Bible, you compare things you can't compare. The early antiquity loved its muscular naked men (see Gilgamesh or even better David and Jonathan). Men in the Bible are often described as beautiful and strong.

Puritanism was born a long time after the Bible was written so don't project it on people who write the different texts which compose it hundreds and hundreds of years ago.

by Anonymousreply 20506/12/2018

As long as gay men are linked with effeminacy, most men will not want to be associated with gay stuff, especially men who exalt conventional masculinity, such as bodybuilders and aesthetics bros.

by Anonymousreply 20606/12/2018

Do you really think the Vatican has ever been a moral institution? All the paintings in the Vatican are simply ostentation, nothing to do with christian belief and I repeat, the bible speaks clearly against nudity. You're conflating Hebrew culture and Mesopotamian culture; not the same R205

And muscles have always been a sign of sexual maturity and availbility, that's why there is a close connection between muscularity and sex drive.

by Anonymousreply 20706/12/2018

Early Hebrew culture is part of the Mesopotamian culture.

Tons of stories in the bible are a complete copy and paste of this culture. Hebrew culture evolved later in something different and early Mesopotamian cultures died.

Seeing someone nude is a metaphor for sex in the Bible, but this metaphor doesn't mean nudity was always bad. Adam and Eve were naked and happy before they bite the apple, so nudity itself was not the problem. Sex was.

Anyway, I don't get why we're speaking Theology and nudity on DL, weird.

by Anonymousreply 20806/12/2018

Hebrews had a negative view on nudity and the bible is very specific about covering your body decently so as not to entince anybody sexually. It starts with Genesis when after eating from the tree of knowledge Adam and Eve felt shame of their naked bodies.

Mesopotamians had a different view son these topics, even homosexuality wasn't really that much of an issue.

by Anonymousreply 20906/12/2018

Every culture ask people to be decent, the criteria of restraint change with cultures.

As for homosexuality, David and Jonathan were clearly described as close and even as a couple if you believe someone like Thomas Romer. There again, hard to know how close they were as "homosexuality" is a modern idea and strong friendship between men was quite the "norm" at the time.

by Anonymousreply 21006/12/2018

This thread has been very educational.

by Anonymousreply 21106/12/2018

The bible was written by many unknown different authors through time, of course, there were differences in some premises that show contradictions, but the general view on nudity was negative and the same about sex. Hebrews wanted to reject the views and practices of the surrounded cultures that they viewed as idolatry and indecency.

I think there is a still a degenerate fraction of christians who build their bodies for Christ. They twist a passage from the bible that says that the body is the temple of the holy ghost so it must be taken care of.

Sexy bodies for the Lord :P

by Anonymousreply 21606/20/2018

"Sexy bodies for the Lord" I approve.

But it depends how you read the Bible.

For some it's the temple of the soul (very new-age thinking) so it's logical to take care of it, others think it's a prison and must be punished because body= desire=sex.

by Anonymousreply 21706/20/2018

Weightlifting is healthy if done naturally and with proper motives. Fitness is Godly.

by Anonymousreply 21806/20/2018

In the bible it is more or les advised to do some physical exercise just not something over the top and centered around physical appearance. You don't have to be an intellectual to understand that bodybuilding under biblical perspective is a sin.

by Anonymousreply 21906/20/2018

Nothing wrong with bodybuilding as long as you don’t mske it an idol or instrument of lust. It’s the same with any sport or hobby.

by Anonymousreply 22006/20/2018

It wouldn't make sense that gay men were excited with a movie about female bodybuilding. I can understand some level of appreciation or awe at the sight of male bodybuilders by heterosexual men but I cannot understand obsession with bodybuilders and their bodies being a heterosexual man.

by Anonymousreply 23208/08/2018

R232 A beautiful body is beautiful, problem is the steroid look is not a good look.

by Anonymousreply 23308/09/2018

by Anonymousreply 23408/09/2018

Lots of gay men love female beauty tho.

They may not care about female bodybuilders but they may love female beauty all the same. It's just that female bodybuilders are not seen as attractive by most people, hetero men included.

by Anonymousreply 23508/09/2018

Some gay men do follow female beauty contests but they hardly obsess over contestants and their bodies. "Heterosexual" fans of bodybuilding obsess over the body parts of bodybuilders, they scream in total ecstasy when male bodybuilders flaunt their muscles on stage. Even more they demand the sexy cocky attitude from the bodybuildr when flexing.

You don't even need to be gay to realise how sexually-charged bodybuilding is.
On October 12th, the motion picture BIGGER lands in theaters as the largest-budgeted bodybuilding themed production of all time. In the weeks leading up to the release, DigitalMuscle presents this exclusive series taking you inside this remarkable project. Turning the improbable story of Joe Weider into a scripted, feature film, had its share of challenges. Among the most daunting tasks would be identifying an actor with the chops to play the lead character, a notoriously complex visionary whose story begins in 1920’s Montreal beneath the fog of poverty, antisemitism, and a mother who struggled to love him. Hollywood insiders questioned whether producers of BIGGER would be able to secure a leading man with the transformative range to deliver on all the peculiarities, emotion, and marginal eccentricities of a man whose crusade was as unique as the accent in which he spoke. Weider died in 2013 at 93 years old. After an exhaustive process to identify the perfect Joe, Producers Steve Lee Jones, Scott LaStaiti and Camila Castro struck gold when they landed Tyler Hoechlin to play the part. “Tyler has that rare combo of athleticism, good looks and smarts that has mega-stardom written all over him.” Jones explains, “He’s a former athlete with a fire in his belly and it beams from his eyes, a perfect, relentless Joe Weider.” In the film, the older Joe is played by Academy Award Nominated actor Robert Forster. When Hoechlin (pronounced Hecklin) was just 13 he earned praise as the central character with Tom Hanks in ROAD TO PERDITION, a film that also featured Paul Newman in his final role. The former college baseball player would later star in the TEEN WOLF series before scoring the coveted role of Superman in the popular SUPERGIRL series. Critics called him the second best Superman they’d ever seen. Beneath his superhero good looks, Hoechlin is a professional in every sense of the word, poised to take full advantage of the kind of circuitous role that scores Oscar nominations for actors of his ability. When I arrived on set for the first day of shooting I was quickly taken aback by the 30 year old’s understanding of his subject. A relative outsider to the bodybuilding world, Hoechlin was a remarkably quick study, grasping the nuances of the man who turned a 15 cent newsletter and a relative pipe-dream into a billion dollar industry. Among the more obvious challenges would be re-creating Joe’s often imitated speaking voice, a unique blend of Polish and French Canadian that gave way to a sound that still baffles even the most skilled dialect experts. Unfazed by the task, Hoechlin nailed it. Executive Producer Eric Weider, the nephew of Joe, has been impressed by Hoechlin’s portrayal of his iconic uncle. “Tyler did a fantastic job capturing the essence of Joe, his determination, and his relentless pursuit of his vision.” Eric’s father Ben (Joe’s younger brother) is portrayed in the film by talented Welsh actor Aneurin Barnard who recently earned praise for his role in the big budget action-thriller DUNKIRK. Julianne Hough plays the iconic pin-up model Betty Brosmer who would go on to marry Joe in 1961. Tom Arnold, Victoria Justice, Kevin Durand, Colton Haynes, Nadine Lewington and Steve Guttenberg round out a cast for a story that spans 8 decades. While most actors tend to concern themselves only with the merits of their own performance, Hoechlin’s dedication to this film was far broader. During most days on set the California native was spotted huddling with Director George Gallo, examining the authenticity and period-relevance of each moment, while exploring opportunities for the next scene and for his fellow cast members. It’s easy to observe that Hoechlin may someday add Director to his resumé, but for now it’s clear that the film’s leading man is well on his way to becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest attractions….and Joe Weider wouldn’t have had it any other way.

I can't wait to hear his accent.

by Anonymousreply 24508/15/2018

Lets just wait till it comes out. Not long now.

by Anonymousreply 25308/21/2018

You don't need to wait; it's obvious homosexuality has to be removed from a movie that revolves around bodybuilding. It would be a financial distaster to include homosexuality in this movie because bodybuilding fans are uncomfortable with homosexuality. It would make it very difficult for them to enjoy the spectacle where sexy men flaunt their sexy muscular beauty on a stage to be cronwed for having the sexiest bodies among men. R253

A movie about sexy men who make a living out of exhibiting their sensual bodies in male beauty contests but strangely none of them is gay or bi. I don't even know if that makes any sense knowing this is bodybuilding.

I would be interested in reading the critics after the release.

by Anonymousreply 29109/12/2018

Don't ask don't tell.

by Anonymousreply 29209/12/2018

People usually say that gay men love muscles and that gay men take care of their physiques more than heterosexual men, but then gay men are completely denied in the most sensual "sport" out there: bodybuilding.

by Anonymousreply 29309/12/2018
I would be interested in reading the critics after the release.

I'm curious to see if they'll rip this to shreds.

by Anonymousreply 29409/13/2018

It is difficult to imagine that this can have a meaningful message to send. You can't even make this movie an international sensation because 1. most hetrosexual men are not interested in men showing off their bodies and 2. bodybuilding has risen in popularity but it is still a niche interest on a worldwide scale. R294

I would be interested in seeing if the movie is going to cover Weider's exploitation of the muscular male physique as an object of desire of gay desire (and the money that came with it) as the article above suggests or if this part of the whole picture will be ignored. I bet we won't see any of that; it would ruin the reputation of the movie and bodybuilding. It would make fans of bodybuilding feel questioned in their sexuality for their peculiar interest (almost obsession) with these men's sexy bodies. It wouldn't sell well.

Imagine a movie about Eugene Sandow-father of modern bodybuilding- ignoring his well known bisexuality.
It’s appropriate that Bigger, the biopic on body-building pioneers Joe and Ben Weider, begins in Montreal. Much of their story is presented in the prosaic, sepia-toned expositional format we expect from Canadian TV’s Heritage Minutes. It’s the kind of story that’s almost criminal to film badly. Joe (Tyler Hoechlin) followed a lifelong obsession with drawing the male human form (dismissed in the ‘40s as appealing to homosexuals), and created a bodybuilder’s magazine empire that had an aesthetic that went beyond the mere depiction of strongmen.
Director George Gallo, taking a cue from his 1991 film, “29th Street,” romanticizes everything in a nostalgic glow, but without a sturdier script featuring fully dimensional characters at his disposal, the performances prove to be as unconvincing as their ethnic accents and period wigs. The lone exception is provided by Austrian bodybuilder-actor Calum Von Moger, whose playful, dead-ringer impersonation of a baby-faced Ah-nuld gives the film what all those tired clichés can’t — a beating pulse.

R337 Keep telling yourself that.

by Anonymousreply 33810/20/2018

So sick and tired of the self-serving, warped view that "all bodybuilders are gay" and "all bodybuilding is homoerotic to everyone."

You can appreciate a beautiful thing, like a parrot or a dining table or a woman, without wanting to fuck it. And most men who lift weights want to be more powerful than the average man and appealing to the opposite sex.

Most men aren't gay or bisexual. Science has proven that; so have the many bodybuilders in the fitness industry who don't blow other dudes for fun.

You delusional queens just need to accept it.

Weider and Schwarzenegger aren't gay. Not everyone is like yourself or motivated by the same things.

by Anonymousreply 33910/20/2018

Movie sounds sterile and lame. None of that real shit. They need to get Oliver Stone to make a bodybuilder movie.

by Anonymousreply 34010/20/2018

Hoechlin looks hot in R334's bootlegged clip.

by Anonymousreply 34110/20/2018

His butt looks delightfully perky.

by Anonymousreply 34210/20/2018
Hoechlin looks hot in [R334]'s bootlegged clip.

When doesn't he?!

by Anonymousreply 34310/23/2018

Another clip

by Anonymousreply 34410/30/2018

R344, are you filming these yourself? Its so funny to see the heads of people in the theater. Anyway, if you are, thanks!

by Anonymousreply 34510/30/2018

R345 No, i'm not the one filming. I found them on tumblr. It didn't come out here so i'll have to wait till it shows up on Netflix/Google Play.

by Anonymousreply 34610/30/2018

No one said Weider was gay; wht has been said is that he exploited the sexiness of muscle men to appeal to gay men of the time.

Why is mentioning bodybuilding is homoerotic such a bad thing?q It is homoerotic, why should people stay silent about it especially considering this standard of male beauty is the product of homosexual minds? Bodybuilding as an industry has treated gay men homophobically ending careers like thatq of Bob Paris. Iqt is never late nor inapproprqiate to remind the industry who gave them this ideal of male beauty. R339

"Hetero" men obsessed with other men's sexy bodies; what's next, hetero men wearing jockstraps?

by Anonymousreply 34911/07/2018

R349 I hope you're being sarcastic.

The Most Homoerotic Little Archive in Texas

by Anonymousreply 35111/23/2018

R351 Now why couldn't we get that on a poster for the movie?? Tyler has the thighs for it.

by Anonymousreply 35211/24/2018

I don't think there is even one bodybuilding movie that is honest and realistic since all of them ignore male homosexuality. Not worth watching.

by Anonymousreply 35311/24/2018
Most men aren't gay or bisexual. Science has proven that; so have the many bodybuilders in the fitness industry who don't blow other dudes for fun.

Thank you, I was waiting for someone who has a camera on the penis and butthole of every fitness model in the world to weigh in on the subject. And he finally has!

The Controversial Story Behind The Only Banned Bodybuilding Pose.

"There was a time when the bodybuilding community was alleged to be pro-gay." Really?

by Anonymousreply 35511/24/2018
I don't think there is even one bodybuilding movie that is honest and realistic since all of them ignore male homosexuality. Not worth watching.

How many are there?

by Anonymousreply 35611/25/2018

The summary sounds nauseating and preachy:

quote]Brothers Joe and Ben Weider were the architects of muscle. Against all odds, they launched an empire. Along the way they discovered Arnold Schwarzenegger, INSPIRED FEMALE EMPOWERMENT, CHAMPIONED DIVERSITY, and started a movement that changed the world.

by Anonymousreply 35711/25/2018

That quote is wrong though. Homosexual men of ancient Greece were the architects of muscle. Weider took it and capitalised on it to build and empire but bodybuildig from its very roots is a homosexual contribution.

by Anonymousreply 35811/25/2018

R357 It does sound preachy when i'm sure they were going for "inspirational".

by Anonymousreply 35911/25/2018

Did you guys know that Winston Churchill used to suck George Washington off?

Homosexual contribution.

by Anonymousreply 36011/25/2018

This movie should have been available day-and-date, on-demand.

The only home video profile I can find is on iTunes. Apparently, it won't be released until Jan. 15, 2019.

That's not too long. Maybe it will come out on another platform sooner. I can't imagine too many people are dying to see this (except for Hoechlin stans).

by Anonymousreply 36211/25/2018

Not many but all of them omit homosexuality. But the Greeks left vast records of gym culture and homosexuality. R356

Is there a Tyler bulge pic in this thread? Not going through 400 posts.

Do bodybuilding fans really believe heterosexual men set the pattern of what is the ideal male form? It was us, homosexual men; not them. It is incongruent to think heterosexual men would be so obsessed with other men's bodies.

There is so much history revisionism in bodybuilding, pretty much in the same way Judeo-christianity claims to own marriage when actually marriage predates every relgion in the world and same-sex marriages did occur in ancient times.

by Anonymousreply 36911/30/2018

Ancient Greek gym culture is of special interest to us because homosexuality was as much a part of it then as it is today. Likewise, when we speak of the Greek ideal, the propagation of the ideal and homosexuality are inseparable and historically well documented albeit barely explored.

So, straight men obsess with these scantily clad men and their oiled muscular bodies...

by Anonymousreply 371Last Monday at 6:06 PM

That is a lot of heterosexuality R371

by Anonymousreply 372Last Monday at 6:43 PM

So basically, Tyler is trans?

by Anonymousreply 373Last Monday at 6:55 PM

R371 Lol at Tyler's stache.

R373 How did you come to that ridiculous conclusion?

by Anonymousreply 374Last Tuesday at 4:04 AM

It must be a new kind of heterosexuality. R372

by Anonymousreply 375Last Tuesday at 6:03 AM
So, straight men obsess with these scantily clad men and their oiled muscular bodies...

It is a natural instinct for males to pursue power. Men can admire physical power without being sexually aroused by it. Women can pore over glamor magazines all day long without wanting to have sex with the female models. Just because things attract our attention doesn't mean we view them as objects of our own sexual desire.

by Anonymousreply 376Last Tuesday at 6:18 AM

One thing is admire and another thing is obsess with these men and scream like fangirls at every sexy pose these men strike on stage. Come on, let's not play games, bodybuilding is literally a mild form of male striptease.

And these men are at their weakest on stage so not really that much strength.

by Anonymousreply 377Last Tuesday at 6:21 AM

How is this not homoerotic? The flaunting of the muscles, the illusory display of strength, the look at the camera, etc...
