Why is Jim Parsons TOP BILLED Over Matt Bomer & Zachary Quinto?
Boys In The Band with Jim Parsons top-billed, but why?
After all Zach Quinto is Spock from the Star Trek series. He has a box office record. Same could be said for Matt Bomer as he is also a major star with the Magic Mike franchise,.
Yet it is Jim Parsons who is top billed.

Because Broadway is marketed toward the tourists, and most tourists would know Jim Parsons, not Bomer or Quinto. The Big Bang Theory has been the number-one comedy on TV for years.

There are no real movie stars in that cast. As far as the general public goes, Quinto is only known for Star Trek and most people don't have a fucking clue who Matt Bomer is. I can't even tell you the name of whatever his basic cable series was. If Leo Dicaprio or Brad Pitt were in the cast it would be different.
Jim Parsons is the star of a series that's been a huge hit for years and is a very well-known star.

Bomer’s TV show was White Collar. It was popular but only lasted 6 seasons. He’s the top billed in that, but the only movies that he had top billing have been indie films. The billing in BITB is roughly based on the importance of their characters in the play. They are all friends offstage and seem to be having fun - going to dinner and plays with each other and giving interviews.

Jim Parsons doesn’t always come out after the show and is the least friendly when he does. Matt Bomer and Andrew Rannels are the most popular with the crowd and are very pleasant and accommodating.with fans. It must be hard to perform in such an intense play and then come out to schmooze and.sign autographs and take pictures after every show.

Quinto and Bomer are not movie stars tey are respectable actors who have been cast as leads in movies.
More people watch The Big Bang Theory in one week than the entire viewership of White Colllar over six seasons. I am kind of kidding but not by much. Too lazy to do the math. But with worldwide viewing I wouldn’t be surprised if Big Bang had 50x the viewership per episode. Maybe 100x. It’s today’s Seinfeld, Cheers, or Friends.

I saw Bomer and I'd not have guessed he was gay if I didn't know already. Of course, he's far from the macho football player type. Seems quiet and sensitive. Of course, I'm aware that the gay stereotype is kinda passe. Jim Parsons is several times Emmy winner and deserving of first billing. Bomer was a lead on White Collar carrying the show for 6 seasons. Not a small feat. BBT is an ensemble piece but it has put Parsons on the map. Quinto has the Star Trek franchise but I still think Bomer should've got second billing. I doubt he gets his panties twisted over something like this. Seems a bit too nice of a person.

A good start for Broadway debutante Bomer to gain his confidence on stage. And his fanbase can make a bit of whatever he choses next, revival or new work. Something for 2019-2020 season. Maybe a better use of his time than interesting but little seen movies, unless a decent TV role finally comes his way again.
If only he had more experience as a singer but maybe his singing voice isn't quite good enough.
