Henley is incredibly talented and responsible for a ton of great music but I read an interview with him years ago where even he calls himself a "curmudgeon." No idea why he's such an asshole, he has a nice family and incredible success. I'd like to believe that he's just difficult to work with because he's such a perfectionist (which he also admits) but it's more than that by all accounts. Lighten up and enjoy life Don!

DH was dark from the beginning, whereas Frey seemed much more a happy-go-lucky guy, and easy to be around. They were kind of temperamental opposites but they sure wrote some fantastic songs together, and the overall level of musicianship of the Eagles was fucking unreal. That Capitol City concert that shows up periodically on Youtube is perfection from start to finish.

You never know with these "illness" postponements. It could be a cold or it could be cancer.

It is not a cold. He had a stint put in his heart several years ago and is a 70 year old man. Henley would not postpone 3 concerts for a cold. Glenn Frey towards the end was playing and performing in excruciating pain, yet the show always went on. This is not a good sign for Mr. Henley to postpone concerts. They have a doctor who tours with them and provides everything from B-12 shots to what ever is needed in order for the show to go on. This is more serious than we know.

Yeah, R83. The major point of tension with e.g. Don Felder (who was a genius guitarist) is that the songs made the Eagles. And Henley and Frey wrote the songs. So they called the shots.

Publishing rights are publishing rights for sure.

Frey and Henley came off as scummy is that the others had rights to the name of the band and when they reunited, Henley and Frey decided to turf out the remaining person who hadn't yet left so they could get an EVEN bigger piece of the pie, and demote Felder, from being a band member to being a paid employee. For no other reason that they could.

Felder was the last member to have a piece of eagles inc. randy and Bernie had sold their shares after they left. Don and Glenn told felder in 2001 that he would have to sell his to stay in the band and essentially become an employee like Walsh and Schmidt were. Felder was fired and he sued. He wrote a book and Frey and Henley got a manuscript of it and sued felder I felder was able to use it as a bargaining chip. I think he got just about everything he wanted financially with the agreement that he took a few things out of his book.

Felder, Schmidt and Walsh are all very nice guys but felder and Walsh no longer speak. Deacon Frey is talented and handsome, but god they should’ve ended after Frey’s death. Charging that kind of money for fans to see a Glenn impersonator is obscene.

The brilliant thing that Don H. and Glenn F. did against Don F. was to make a settlement with Felder's wife, Susan who had filed for divorce. She had demanded access to Eagles LTD records as part of her divorce/alimony proceedings and receive a nice chunk of change in lieu of auditing their books. A royal fuck you to Felder. Felder is an ass and completely got what he deserved money wise (approx $50 million) from Henley and Frey. I do not feel sorry for him at all.

In some Eagles docu that I saw a couple of years ago, Glenn Frey said that since he and Henley wrote most of the songs and since they had the most prolific careers outside of the band, they should get the lions share of the profits.

They treated Felder like shit. Schmidt and Walsh were yes men, very nice and mere employees who knew they were onto a good day job. Felder was a bit of a dummy who left his wife because she made herself a very successful jewellery business whilst the Eagles were broken up and he felt neglected because she didn’t spend time with him playing golf. But still, he was in the right as far as the Eagles were concerned.

Don Henley had a perm in the 70s and he threatens to sue anyone who will reveal this fact.

Supposedly the band in "Almost Famous" was based on the Eagles; the documentary about the Eagles is very good - it's hard to imagine any band today allowing that kind of access. They all come off pretty bad, but *everyone* bitches about Henley with Dave Geffen calling him an a malcontent, which seems strange to meet since the Eagles were the epitome of that cool 70's California chill vibe that the rest of the country just loved
