Wasn't glossed over it was mentioned in movie. Gloria's life was sordid. Everything was so nice in Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool.

This was the first ever televised Oscar ceremony and Supporting Actress was first award of the night. That makes Gloria the first ever Oscar award winner shown on TV.
She was obsessed with her appearance, had a ton of plastic surgery on her jaw and didn’t have enough time to prepare for the awards. I believe she was wearing lipstick only.
As a result, GG may not have wanted photos of her that night and made her acceptance super short. That said, the audience was meant to have found it charming.
