You are right, I loved the song from Dusty Springfield, when the song came out. But the interpretation from Sarah Connor suits the times.

The first edition of this thread had many insightful and delightful posts. Just mention what you are listening minus snark, unless snark is absolutely necessary, and it makes for a wonderful thread on datalounge, part 2. I love it when I encounter other serious fans of Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway. The instrumental "Mood" from their collaboration album may not be on many folks' list, but I am listening to it right now. It moved me then and it moves me still.

R300 It's sad in today's world that when someone is being thoughtful & considerate of other people's time, they're accused of having OCD.
This thread skews eldergay (classical music anyone?) & many of them might not want to listen to the whole album which is primarily alternative rock (plus the first word heard is the s word which might turn off some of the classical eldergay crowd (who may prefer songs without any words) so I gave them some time points if they didn't want to listen to the entire album & some song recommendations (which is the purpose for threads like this in the first place).
The 5 songs I posted are more in line with an older crowd anyway so if they were willing to listen to those songs first then I thought they might be willing to give the other ones a go (It's not my favorite Belinda album so I could personally see that others might not like it's unique direction). It's still worth giving a listen to which is why I posted it in the first place.

It is sad that some of this thread ends up reflecting what I think of as the worst of datalounge, which is also probably a major reason for datalounge, the whole being bitchy because that is apparently the thing to do. but those who genuinely post what they are listening to and enjoying is much more delightful to think about. me, right now, it is Roberta Flack. r489 - r493 Boomerang is fun. They remind me a little of the Supremes in places.
by Anonymous | reply 501 | May 25, 2018 11:49 PM |
Boomerang released their only known album back in 1986. To my knowledge it never came out on CD. If you listen closely to some of the songs up above you can hear the record noise on them but it's better than nothing.
They sure are a fun group of gals which includes Billy Idol's one time girlfriend Peri Lister (long suffering by his cheating during the time). I couldn't tell you which one she is on the album cover so maybe someone else can point her out for us?
Their album contains 4 other songs including a weird & wild version of Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'". All 4 remaining songs can still be found on YouTube if you have any remaining curiosity.
Here's a "7 Wonders" remix by Fleetwood Mac.

Growing up in the 70's I've only heard their first 3 tracks on this greatest hits album.
I've finally got around to hearing more of their songs.
She has a voice made for power ballads. I wonder if she would ever record an album of them in the future (Journey, etc.)
by Anonymous | reply 567 | May 31, 2018 7:14 PM |
I'm halfway thru this album & it's definitely a mid 80's sound.
I loved "Hanging On A Heart Attack" growing up & always thought this band would've gone on to bigger & better things instead of "1 hit wonder territory."

Listening to the Outfield's 1989 album "Voices Of Babylon".
It's better than their second album but can't improve on their debut album songs.
