by Anonymousreply 36April 26, 2018 6:28 PM

Cosby is a racist for drugging and raping black women too. He should have just chosen white women to rape.

by Anonymousreply 37April 26, 2018 6:30 PM

R14, he has keratoconus, which doesn’t cause blindness. It can cause blurring, light sensitivity, and halation (seeing a halo or other configurations of light radiating from a light source).

It’s a condition in which the cornea thins and bulges out, eventually becoming cone shaped, and it’s usually controlled with rigid contact lenses.

If he wants to pretend that he’s blind, he should probably have a word with the people who lead him around and remind them to slow down. The way that he speed-walked out of the courtroom just now was hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 38April 26, 2018 6:31 PM

by Anonymousreply 44April 26, 2018 6:39 PM

Bill is an equal opportunity rapist.

by Anonymousreply 45April 26, 2018 6:40 PM

HA!!! There is justice sometimes! Anyone who's calling this racist needs to remember that MANY of his victims are women of color!

Not clear what the expletive was yet.

Hannibal Buress started this ball rolling.

Thank you, Sir!

by Anonymousreply 52April 26, 2018 6:49 PM

I was just about to say that, R45. Bill wasn't racist in his choice of victims and chose them based on power and control. He tortured them with the knowledge that they could do nothing to him, that he was always more powerful. He truly believed he could get away with this all the way through and now wants to seek the refuge of race? I guess it's really any shelter in a storm for the desperate.

That comedian should be given a percentage of any civil damages, R51. He really did break the ice.

by Anonymousreply 63April 26, 2018 6:59 PM

r63, yep!

by Anonymousreply 64April 26, 2018 7:00 PM

Here we go again. Sorry, R62, but here you are, on the DL. A LOT OF US want to see that loser get his in regards to his treatment of women. There is most definitely a connection and most particularly when people of color are pointing towards that fuck and this fuck and asking why is one here and another there? AND they have a point.

NO, the blacks response to everything is not racism, but I do wonder who made you the expert on their overall, overriding BLACK opinion? It's not appropriate for this to happen, but it is not an invitation for racist bullshit in regards to generalizations.

by Anonymousreply 65April 26, 2018 7:01 PM

R51, r52: From Wikipedia:

[quote]On October 16, 2014, at the Philadelphia club The Trocadero, [Hannibal] Buress was recorded doing an extended routine about existing rape allegations against comedian Bill Cosby.[17] Buress addressed Cosby's legacy of "talk[ing] down" to young black men about their style of dress and lifestyle. Buress criticized the actor's public moralizing by saying, "Yeah, but you raped women, Bill Cosby, so that kind of brings you down a couple notches." The audience appeared to respond to Buress' accusation as an incredulous joke before he encouraged everyone to search for "Bill Cosby rape" when they got home.[18]

[quote]Buress had been using the same Cosby routine for the previous six months with little response,[19] but the October performance went viral after being posted on Philadelphia magazine's website.[20][21] A media firestorm ensued, with numerous publications tackling the question of how Cosby had managed to maintain, as Buress called it in his set, a "teflon image" despite more than a decade of public sex abuse accusations.[22][23][24][25][26]

[quote]Comedian Eddie Murphy later referenced Buress' role in the allegations coming to light while impersonating Cosby during his 2015 Mark Twain Prize for American Humor acceptance speech, mockingly playing Cosby as threatening Buress' life.[27]

by Anonymousreply 66April 26, 2018 7:02 PM

R52, yes, Hannibal Buress called Cosby a rapist onstage in 2014, and got death threats for his troubles. He did NOT apologize.

by Anonymousreply 67April 26, 2018 7:02 PM

Guilty, Guilty Guilty! Also Bitchy, Bitchy Bitch!

by Anonymousreply 68April 26, 2018 7:05 PM

Cosby stared straight ahead as the verdict was read, but moments later lashed out loudly at District Attorney Kevin Steele and called him an "a--hole" after the prosecutor asked that Cosby be immediately jailed because he might flee. Cosby denied he has an airplane and shouted, "I'm sick of him!"

The judge decided Cosby can remain free on bail while he awaits sentencing.

R74. Yay = fish-speak. You frauen are easy to identify.

by Anonymousreply 78April 26, 2018 7:26 PM

Bill Cosby never raped or drugged anyone.

The illuminati told him that they wanted him to "sign off" on his wife Camille to be sacrificed and he said "OH HELL NO I ALREADY GAVE YOU ENNIS MY SON YEARS AGO .... " and then BANG-BANG .... he's a drugger and raper and all this nonsense. It's frightening but they can destroy lives in the blink of an eye.

Bill Cosby, though he did sell his soul and sacrifice his son, is not the type of man to rape. He's a righteous man and is actually a feminist and activist in the cause of women.

Years ago in NYC I knew a woman who was making a documentary about Cosby. She was working closely with him, and while she considered him to be a complex character, she also viewed him as a mentor. Just before the film was supposed to be shown the public rape accusations happened. I'm sure we'll never see the film and I feel bad for this woman who spend years collecting interviews and footage. That said, I was aware of the Cosby rumors back then and I wondered why anyone would be involved in a project with him.

by Anonymousreply 85April 26, 2018 7:34 PM

by Anonymousreply 88April 26, 2018 7:35 PM

I was about to say that, R82. Some people are a little too eager to insult and want to get onto a rant. Lesbians rule today. No little pissant can take that away from me. YAY!

by Anonymousreply 89April 26, 2018 7:36 PM

by Anonymousreply 90April 26, 2018 7:36 PM

Huge verdict! 60 some women were assaulted and drugged by him. He deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. Why did he get to go home?

He called the prosecutor an asshole for telling the judge he had a private plane and was a flight risk. Yelled it!

by Anonymousreply 91April 26, 2018 7:38 PM

by Anonymousreply 106April 26, 2018 7:54 PM

R80 That explanation has been making the rounds on many low information sites which cater to blacks.

They have long believed that Ennis's murder was actually a blood sacrifice which Cosby made to the Illuminati.

I am embarrassed that I know this, but I am writing a book which necessitates my daily scanning of urban sites.

by Anonymousreply 110April 26, 2018 7:59 PM

R109 .. true. what happened here is similar to what happened in the mc martin school molestation trial. people like gloria allred fuel all this stories and its easy to find women who say they were victimized bla bla bla, but when you examine the details they were mostly whores coming back for more and more and more. and as for that lesbian andrea skank whore. that pig got $3.4 million and she just wanted more. read the testimony from the friend witness that they would not allow to testify in the second trial. andrea said she was going to trap a celebrity for money. and thats exactly what she did. its very similar to the harvey story. 99% of the women are just fish skanks looking for a payday. actresses like pamela LEE speaks about how these women are skanks and that she knew not to go up to hotel rooms for auditions but skanks like rose mc gowen did and kept going back for more and took huge payoffs. they are all whore skanks just like gweneth paltrow and the rest of those fish whores

by Anonymousreply 115April 26, 2018 8:11 PM

I am glad he didn't die of natural causes or whatever just before the women came forward, or worse they never said anything because by the time they realized there were so many victims and decided to come forward he died. They couldn't accuse a dead man of rape knowing he couldn't defend himself. They would have had to remain silent all while still hearing about what a great man "America's Dad" was. I am glad he lived to have to go through the exposure and embarrassment, then the trial and now prison. And that the truth is known about him.

by Anonymousreply 116April 26, 2018 8:16 PM

He won't go to prison. This will get caught up in appeals and whatnot and he'll die before he ever steps foot into a prison cell.

by Anonymousreply 117April 26, 2018 8:19 PM

he will almost certainly go to jail. A judge can suspend a sentence pending an appeal but that is not typical R117 and there is no reason to expect it here.

by Anonymousreply 118April 26, 2018 8:20 PM

And so the mask was removed, finally. He stood there and swore at justice. Never forget this.

It translates as action, so all it really means is that what this shit set in motion has reached its final fruition and the energy has played out. Be not attached to the fruits of your action....this is the concept behind that word, even if it is often misused in this culture.

I figured Whoopi would be pulling out the race card. I guess the metoo! movement only counts with her when it is white men being accused. This is a happy day - finally a rich icon pays the price.

My guess is that it's owned by an LLC, R141. It's very common amongst the upper classes to put their possessions under the ownership of others, as well, so you could be right, but I doubt it. Under an LLC, he can rent it out and profit without liability

I'm still amazed he didn't 'accidentally' kill one of those women, drugging them like that.

How in the world did he develop a fetish like that? I'm sure he could have had plenty of consentual sex, but no-he wanted sex with passed-out women.

I heard that he really hated his mother, and hated the sound of her voice. And shrinks out there want to give us an opinion?

The doctorate was in education and it was from UMass. He actually did "earn" it by going to school in the very early 80s. There is a lot of scuttlebutt as to how difficult it was to earn, and there are many who say Camille did all the work.

I believe he did have some honorary doctorates which were rescinded however. I don't think an institution can take back an earned degree, yes?

by Anonymousreply 146April 26, 2018 9:02 PM

Only if it discovered the person in question cheated to get the degree.

But Bill Cosby is a doctor, pure and simple--he earned a doctorate. It was not an honorary award.

by Anonymousreply 149April 26, 2018 9:07 PM

Thanks for looking that up, R149. Did Howard rescind the honorary one?

by Anonymousreply 150April 26, 2018 9:12 PM

R23 I wonder if he will get raped or beat up in prison for having those opinions and raping women?

I doubt he'll go to jail, R151, because I see this killing him. He does not look well.

by Anonymousreply 152April 26, 2018 9:16 PM

Justice was served. I don't think Camille knew about it, at first. People like Bill are good at hiding that perverted side.

by Anonymousreply 153April 26, 2018 9:17 PM

Camille gives me the creeps. There was one rape scenario described where she left the room, along with the victim's agent, and retired to bed, leaving the woman alone with Cosby. No wife does that when people are coming for dinner. Something was definitely going on. Maybe they had this sick agreement that he could only cheat if he had a one time thing with these women, but she didn't know his method. Maybe ...we'll probably never know.

by Anonymousreply 154April 26, 2018 9:23 PM

And while Hannibal Buress was calling out Cosby, he was staying silent on his good friend Louis CK who was also racking up the same allegations himself. People amuse me with thinking he was any kind of hero. He's a total phony just like Judd Apatow, who was also protecting CK while acting all outraged over Cosby.

Like others have said, if Hollywood was really interested in justice, they would have done this years ago and stopped many other women from dealing with this.

Let's watch how far this goes. There's plenty of them who have been called out and should face criminal charges themselves. If it just stops with Cosby, then it's very telling.

R143 As one who is severely allergic to certain medications that most people aren't even sensitive to, I think some of his victims died. I had posted that in another BC thread last year. He would have just disposed of the body and the family still thinks their daughter is missing. Of course only those whose parents and family who didn't know their daughter was meeting up with BC. Also, some victims may have died young, of natural causes, before this came to light and took their secret to the grave.

But I agree that at least a few didn't survive the dosing and died. Along with the alcohol they could have choked to death on their own vomit. It has happened in date-rape cases. I've never believed every one of his victims survived.

As an aside here, I have always felt that's what happened to Natalee Holloway. He planned to rape her (on her last day just before she left the island so he'd get away with it) not kill her. I think she choked on her own vomit from the alcohol and drug combination. She had a bad reaction. Some people are deathly allergic to certain drugs, and for others the standard/usual dose is fatal for them. But I don't believe that all of his victims survived.

by Anonymousreply 159April 26, 2018 9:52 PM

Louis CK is a fucking creeper/sexual predator who exposed himself, but he didn't rape anyone (that I've heard of yet) and there weren't the volumes of complaints against him that there was against this one and for as long. Buress went after him because of his holier than thouism against young black comics like Murphy and himself. Furthermore, I doubt he's defending LCK, so no, I don't get what you're trying to do here by equating the two and trying to make Buress into some kind of hypocrite in the court of public opinion. Not everyone has that crystal ball of perversion that tells them when shit like this happens. Pervs seldom make their shit public or tell friends.

by Anonymousreply 160April 26, 2018 10:08 PM

Now he can just cower in a corner just like me. bhahahahaha

[quote]Louis CK is a fucking creeper/sexual predator who exposed himself, but he didn't rape anyone (that I've heard of yet) and there weren't the volumes of complaints against him that there was against this one and for as long

The stories about CK have been floating around the comedy world for at least the last decade, if not more. And there haven't been a volume of complaints, because according to the ones who have come forward, he had his lawyer threatening them that they would end their careers if they spoke out. So it does tend to lead one to think how many more have stayed in silence.

[quote]I don't get what you're trying to do here by equating the two and trying to make Buress into some kind of hypocrite in the court of public opinion

Because he's making himself out to be some hero for shining a light on Cosby. That women revere him for telling the truth. And it looks suspicious when you're palling around with another one who's also accused of sexual assault. And the "he/she didn't know" is a tiresome argument. These allegations float around the internet for years, yet somehow in the entertainment world, no one happens to know a thing. Especially when it's happening to your peers?

Sure.

by Anonymousreply 162April 26, 2018 10:30 PM

I don't think R162 "gets" it.

He/she is only invested in getting a "what about-ism" on the record.

Loius CK may be repulsive and gross, but he has never been accused of rape or assault once, let alone the multiples of accusations against Cosby.

by Anonymousreply 163April 26, 2018 11:10 PM

[quote]Loius CK may be repulsive and gross, but he has never been accused of rape or assault once

Uh, incident exposure is a crime, dear. The only one who doesn't "get it" is you, and if you think I'm wrong, then whip on your dick in front of your co workers and have a good jack off session. I'm sure you're behavior won't be considered just "icky" when you're sitting in a police station waiting to be fingerprinted.

"But he didn't rape someone" is an asinine defense. He's still accused of sexual misconduct by several different women. Go excuse his behavior somewhere else.

by Anonymousreply 166April 26, 2018 11:41 PM

There have been some BIs claiming Camille has been a lesbian for awhile. She pings to me and this would make sense that she didn't care about him with other women. I always got the feeling being Mrs. Cosby and what it brought to her was what was most important to her. Which is why she must be really pissed about this. I think she always knew he screwed around and brought them into her home. I just think she stopped caring a long time ago, so how he got them there wasn't any concern to her.

by Anonymousreply 167April 26, 2018 11:49 PM

Probably in the thousands r29, I was warned about him in the mid eighties.

by Anonymousreply 168April 26, 2018 11:49 PM

R164 I said not one word about "incident(sic) exposure and whether or not LCK was guilty of it. I said he was not accused of rape or sexual assault.

Try again.

by Anonymousreply 169April 26, 2018 11:55 PM

I agree R167. She may have also figured he would eventually get arrested and end up behind bars which would kill him and she would be left with everything, his entire fortune. Only it backfired because she never expected it would take nearly this long. If so, she's just as guilty.

And, I also think she is a lesbian. If she wasn't she would have filed for divorce after proving that he was having extramarital affairs and had also had "sex" with many women whom he took advantage of and his crimes would have been made public and she would have walked away with a nice divorce settlement. I thought she was either a lesbian or bi the first time I saw her.

by Anonymousreply 170April 26, 2018 11:59 PM

by Anonymousreply 180April 27, 2018 1:22 AM

I taught one of BC's daughters at a boarding school in Connecticut in the early 90's. She was actually quite pleasant: quiet, air of privilege but didn't influence how she behaved - she really was a very nice girl. However, let me tell you about Mrs. Cosby, Camille- one of the most vile woman you could ever cross paths.

First, most of the year, she ignored her daughter - which made the poor girl needy and lacking in self-esteem - and she slept around. I shouldn't share this, but it gives you an idea of the inner dynamics of the family. She freely shared she was aware her father had numerous affairs - she was a very damaged young girl/woman who told people far too much, but a kind person.

Camille would show up, in a cursory way, for parents weekend, in a chauffeured Rolls Royce (they also showed up for graduation in a helicopter). She was dismissive, rude - would show up in these ridiculous African costumes - and wait outside in the driveway, standing by the Rolls - waiting for her daughter. She would barely speak, had a shaved head, was just so awful. When the school, teachers attempted to call or contact the cosby's, they said it would take forever to get through the assistants. They were secretive, abrupt, uninvolved - with little interest in their children

My girlfriend at the time was her daughters houseparent. During the open house, she approached Camille simply to introduce herself, say hello, discuss her daughter, Camille literally turned her head away. The daughter ended up going to NYU Tisch - she wanted to be an actress. The brother, Ennis, was with them at the graduation - during which they didn't interact with anyone.

The most awful thing was seeing her brother, Ennis, at the graduation, aware the fate that awaited him.

So, to see this foolish woman by his side, smiling, with huge glasses, pretending, aware of what a disengaged, disinterested parent she (and he was) - she is a vile, grotesque woman - and, without doubt, knew what he was up to - so fuck off Camille, you total fucking fraud. I knew your daughter - for however brief a time - , I know what she said, I know what she thought of you - so you deserve every terrible thing that comes your way.

R181 - yes, Ennis went there, as stated in the article below. The George school in Newtown Bucks County PA. It is a private boarding school, and a lot of celebrities send their kids there. Some local kids are day students, but most students live on campus. I’m also almost positive his daughter went there too.

by Anonymousreply 195April 27, 2018 2:47 AM

I too assumed that R181's wording was unintentionally off. Hell, I've mistakenly done similar many times.

Here's the thing: it was a well told anecdote, not over the top in any fashion, and while there were some interesting details mixed with opinion, nothing was glaringly harsh over overstated. If someone with that command of the language and structure were deliberately misleading us, I think that the tiny mistake would have been corrected in proofreading. People tend to be more measured and particular when lying.

When telling the truth, the story just flows and often one doesn't even bother to proofread.

This is just my opinion of course, but I do not believe he/she was making it up. Years and years ago when the Cosbys were still well thought of, I would often see CC dressed in those costumes. They are fine for an appropriate gathering, but for something like a graduation at an American school, they really scream," Look at me!! I am different!! I am so proud of my African roots even though I am as white as most Caucasians, and I have little in common with the people whose attire I choose to represent."

There are more than a few people in this thread who are salty about the verdict, and they can barely contain the need to compare Cosby to others who have not yet been prosecuted. They are just spoiling for a fight. Ignore them R181.

by Anonymousreply 196April 27, 2018 2:53 AM

Speaking of his daughter she was his main support system throughout this and she believed her father and stood by him. She died a few months ago. Between the recent loss of his daughter, his age/deteriorating physical condition and the walls of prison I just don't see him surviving prison for very long. He also can't spend that wealth in prison or live the lifestyle he's accustomed to while behind bars. He might as well be penniless. He got what he deserved.

Given the O J Simpson circus trial and the social reluctance, the double standard and hypocrisy when it comes to holding high-profile Blacks responsible for their actions, I did not believe that Americans would convict Heathcliffe Huxtable. r208 transferred to the wife long ago. I read it a few months ago, but I forget the source or I'd post a link. (It was a major news outlet.)

r207 I agree, but good luck with that. All of this is selective outrage and prosecution; politically, in the justice system and on social media. #metoo has degenerated into middle and upper middle class (mainly) white women's bad dates and regret over the casting couch accounts. Not a word about ephebephiles or pedophiles, or gay male assaults or anyone high up in the food chain being accused. With a limited public attention span and legal window, the focus should be on these people, not on an actor who got her ass grabbed at a movie premiere. NOT that this is/should be acceptable behaviour, but in the grand scheme of things, it shouldn't be the focus.

It's too bad that 1% media sold their souls to the devil on this one.

by Anonymousreply 210April 27, 2018 5:33 AM

I wonder if he's hung? Lots of guys on the inside willing to suck on that meat.

by Anonymousreply 211April 27, 2018 5:35 AM

He won't go to prison. My guess is that he'll play sick and get admitted to hospitals and get doctors to certify him as suffering from whatever his lawyers recommend. He's old, he's smart, and he's an actor, he'll keep it up until the lawyers can claim a mistrial and get him released.

If he flees the country, I also predict he'll play the old-and-sick card. He'll say he's gone to Brazil to seek an experiemental treatment for some rare cancer or some such shit, he'll never admit he's fleeing justice. He's too narcissistic to admit that the law applies to him.

by Anonymousreply 212April 27, 2018 5:52 AM

by Anonymousreply 213April 27, 2018 5:57 AM

r213 you are also usually freed on bail pending an appeal, unless you pose a danger to the public and/or are a flight risk. His lawyer said unequivocally that he will appeal. He will also have grounds according to a few talking head attorneys I heard today.

What r212 says makes a lot of sense, but I don't know that it will get that far. A good lawyer can delay appeals processes for years; with a DA on a limited budget, the odds are in Cosby's favour.

Black people feel it's a racist outcome because white men tend to get away with rape more often. Racism complaints always come down to equality for MEN, straight men especially. Most men believe that rape (raping women, that is) shouldn't even be a crime. Therefore, black men should have equal opportunity to exploit, abuse, degrade and rape women with impunity like white men do.

They have a point. Let's see what happens when and IF a white male celebrity gets charged with any crime arising from #MeToo. Kevin Spacey is currently being investigated, but his crimes were against underage males. Raping males is NOT okay in patriarchy. Sodomy is still a crime on some state books, no? Harvey Weinstein raped countless women. Are the police even glancing at him yet?

It ain’t over till it’s over. He has lots of money to pay for the cleverest legal minds money can buy.

Bet he gets a really short sentence - and doesn’t serve time anyway. Too old, too, sick, too whatever. Appeal after appeal. Medical testimony - you name it. Maybe a mistrial? Will they dig and find a juror said something that could possibly be construed as racist once upon a time?

This circus ain’t over yet.

But DL legal minds - now there’s been a conviction- does this open Cosby up to a civil suit by other victims?

Ideally I’d love to see him and his troll wife lies every cent they’ve got. That would at least hit them where it hurts the most.

by Anonymousreply 226April 27, 2018 8:37 AM

Black people feeling that because a lot of white men get away with rape, more black men should too have a point, R224? That's some fucking twisted logic. Clearly, you're not a woman.

And where is the proof that more white men get away with rape?

by Anonymousreply 227April 27, 2018 9:07 AM

Harvey Weinstein may not be in jail now, but what happened to him is just as devastating and possibly even worse.

I bet if you gave him the choice of going to jail for 5 years while being able to keep his credentials in the industry and the ability to hide his money as Cosby did, or losing every single thing he had, being driven out of the entertainment industry, become the biggest pariah ever---I imagine he would chose prison.

by Anonymousreply 228April 27, 2018 9:14 AM

Cosby was probably drawing a fine line between plane and jet.

by Anonymousreply 229April 27, 2018 11:12 AM

Cosby has had ample time to hide his assets so that they cannot be touched in a civil suit. Anyone contemplating a civil suit will make much ado and come away with nothing.

Sure, on some level she is indeed a star-fucker, but it's also her job on The View to side with the celebrity somehow. Otherwise the show would have no discussion at all with everybody being on the same side of a topic. And it would look pretty stupid and inconsistent if they switch the point of views around and, say, Joy defends a rapist like Bill Cosby for whatever reason.

by Anonymousreply 244April 27, 2018 1:23 PM

Maybe then stick to topics where they have naturally opposing points of view, R244? (Assuming that wasn't the case with Cosby).

by Anonymousreply 246April 27, 2018 1:31 PM

r245, they should ignore the story because thay agree with each other?

The View is a show were these issues are discussed and the panel represents different point of views they can pull off based on their background. You really think that these women go "I usually stand for this, but in that case i totally go off script!"? They are paid to stay on script and hold their position no matter what. They present their arguments and the viewers decide which side they are on. That's the whole show.

by Anonymousreply 255April 27, 2018 2:58 PM

by Anonymousreply 256April 27, 2018 3:14 PM

And the system was and never has been set up for justice for women as the victims of men in sexual crimes. Only now is this being rectified by the overwhelming numbers of victims that come forward. It should only ever have taken one.

I feel bad for their 3 remaining children.

by Anonymousreply 258April 27, 2018 3:59 PM

Cosby lost significant power and influence in Hollywood. That and the general outrage culture brought on Cosby's fall from grace.

But the most important thing is that guys like Cosby were caught off guard. They didn't have the time to sweet talk, or intimidate, all the past victims to stay silent before the press was coming for them. And, as mentioned, they didn't have the power to stop stories from being released, because these media outlets saw more benefits from releasing the stories than doing guys like Cosby a favor in exchange for something else (like the world was waiting for another softball feature about Bill Cosby*LOL*).

Guys like Singer saw what was going on and acted quickly and still had some clout (movie studios) to make stories and reports go away and be surpressed.

by Anonymousreply 261April 27, 2018 4:30 PM

[quote]Why would all those women keep that secret all these years?

Because each woman thought she was alone in her fight for justice. For the most part, Cosby deliberately targeted women who were willing to compromise themselves by accompanying a married man to a hotel room where they would be alone together. Both Cosby and his victims knew that a good defense attorney would savagely destroy the reputation of any lone victim who admitted to meeting Cosby voluntarily in private. There can be reasonable doubt if one woman claims she was drugged, but not if thirty or more do.

The staff of the David Letterman show made all the young women who worked there sit in a room and watch Cosby eat just so he could fantasize about farting in their faces while he ate. And the New York Liberals who run the Letterman Show enabled it.

by Anonymousreply 278April 27, 2018 5:27 PM

Cosby could not pay off these women because he never felt like he had to. He had drugged them. He made sure they had scant recollection of the crime, and for some he threw money on the dresser as if to tell them he saw them as whores. Not once did he feel he did something wrong. He did this to old friends, to colleagues, to young actors whose family he met and groomed. When it appeared they were going to be trouble, he treated them like dirt and made them feel it was their fault. He had a pimp detail at the airport for busty women looking for fun or a career boost. This was not a casual rapist. He KNEW who to target and how. I imagine his victim count is somewhere in the thousands.

Rape is not a crime of race. Rape is not a sexual crime, though it uses sex as the weapon. Rape is a SOUL crime against the deepest part of who you are. It is the exertion of power and control over the most intimate part of your being. You share that part of yourself as a privilege earned, not something to be taken, debased, cheapened.

This pig elevated that crime to a whole other level of disgust and intensity by exerting his power over the vulnerable. He robbed their bodies, their minds, their sense of themselves, their power over their careers, and their self-esteem. To have that ignored, for so long, by so many in law enforcement is unbelievable. That's power. That's evil.

Black Twitter is full of people who are salty as hell that it was a black man who got the full on treatment in the courts when there are so very many white men who are walking around free and clear. Now that doesn't translate to, "I think Cosby is innocent!!" but it sure as hell doesn't translate with, "I am happy that justice has been done and he's headed for jail."

And there are some black men who absolutely do believe that Cosby was set up by money grubbing lying bitches. They featured one of these charmers last night on "Inside Edition." He was standing in front of the courts building screaming for all to hear that Cosby is innocent and the system is biased towards blacks.

If pointing out these realities makes one a 4channer, so be it. The truth is the truth.

Although Cosby is an extreme example you need to realize that there are a lot of straight guys walking around out there who have the same attitudes about women Bill Cosby does. They are the kind of guys who yell "BITCH" at a woman who walks by without speaking. They are the kinds of guys who get truly angry when a woman won't go out with them. They are the kinds of guys who on social media will throw threats of rape and violence at a woman they disagree with in an online discussion. I have witnessed it enough times with guys I have worked with to know, straight guys seriously need some re education. And the straight guys who are decent people need to stop being pussies when they see other guys act like and say something. Women are not required to make you feel good about yourself.

I am not going to keep a back and forth with you on this matter. You sound like the one person who claimed that the Joy Reid situation was not a racial issue, and yet someone more industrious than I linked pages and pages of Black Twitter responses declaring it was a racist witch hunt.

If you think that the black community is pleased with the retrial and its outcome, good for you.

I stick by my initial position that black people think he was guilty, but they are anything BUT happy that a black man has been made the example for something they think many white people are guilty of, yet they remain unprosecuted.

I don't understand how you can deny that a bifurcated position on guilt can occur. Most of the crowd who cheered upon hearing the Simpson v California verdict knew OJ was guilty as hell, but they were happy that his team beat "the man" at last.

by Anonymousreply 309April 27, 2018 9:18 PM

Which is a fair point. Cosby has been tried and convicted, while Singer and Weinstein are still free as little birds, enjoying their wealth and free time. The worst they've suffered is losing work, which they don't need because they're filthy rich.

And some people might look at that fact and conclude that the system is biased against black men, even filthy rich black men. I look at it and conclude that Weinstein and Singer weren't stupid enough to mess with a tough-ass lesbian who isn't part of the entertainment world.

by Anonymousreply 320April 27, 2018 10:53 PM

The reason Weinstein isn't in jail yet might also have to do with the fact that the women signed NDAs. They can testify, but they will lose any settlement money. This happened to Rachel Uchitel (sp?) Tiger Woods' mistress/"hostess" after she gave an interview. That's what all the media who are making their careers off this conveniently leave out of the story. It doesn't fit their narrative that women are helpless victims against beastly men, so--out it goes!

And no, I'm not saying he's not a rapist. It's also a sad, but valid decision to make about taking the money vs. going public or litigating. However, ignoring it is seriously distorting the story, especially when one of these alleged rapes that got a settlement turned out to be casting couch regret.

by Anonymousreply 321April 27, 2018 11:17 PM

It’s nearly impossible for any man charged with sexual assault or misconduct to get a fair trial today, if there is no actual physical evidence.

In this era of #metoo, every alleged victim “must” be believed. Any juror would feel immense pressure to convict regardless of the facts.

R85, encourage her to finish the doc. I mean, how can it not be finished? The trajectory is real life, in real time. A man who was beloved by all, now held accountable for his crimes, awaiting to be sentenced.

If it’s a good documentary, Netflix might pick it up, and your friend’s career will have a huge boost!

by Anonymousreply 330April 28, 2018 8:27 AM

I have an odd feeling of sadness about this. I don’t have any sympathy for a serial rapist, but I do have measure of respect for the legacy that has been mostly destroyed. White people might not get this on the same level as black people, as he was someone who brought positivity and dignity for black children, especially boys, into mainstream entertainment, from Fat Albert to his sitcom to the Little Bill books and cartoons.

His achievements really did matter deeply to a lot of people, and their conflicted reactions to the news of his conviction have to be understood taking into account this history.

by Anonymousreply 331April 28, 2018 1:58 PM

R331 The reality is that Cosby is a huckster, a showman, a sham, a megalomaniac and a rapist. Sadness and admiration are completely misplaced. Cosby deserves only scorn and censure.

by Anonymousreply 332April 28, 2018 2:08 PM

[quote]His achievements really did matter deeply to a lot of people, and their conflicted reactions to the news of his conviction have to be understood taking into account this history.

Too bad he was such an arrogant and sanctimonious prick back before everyone knew he was a serial rapist. As you judge others, so you will be judged.

by Anonymousreply 333April 28, 2018 2:09 PM

Maybe he will be able to be "saved" before he dies.

Then he could repent for all of his actions and turn this thing around in a positive way.

by Anonymousreply 334April 28, 2018 2:36 PM

Didn't he really make a lot of people angry in the African American community when he made that "pound cake" speech?

by Anonymousreply 335April 28, 2018 2:37 PM

What is the pound cake speech?

by Anonymousreply 336April 28, 2018 2:52 PM

Black celebs must not be criticized; r323 he was a playboy mansion regular; Cosby probably won't even serve jail time :( . And yes, women tend to make such accusations up, 🤦 .

by Anonymousreply 337April 28, 2018 3:03 PM

I'm black. Bill Cosby gave a commencement speech where he basically said black people are responsible for all their own problems and shouldn't blame things like discrimination and segregation. He says the black people shouldn't be angry when the police shoot them for petty theft because they should never have stole the thing. He says it's foolish for black people to take pride in African culture because they aren't African.

He would have been right at home on Breitbart. I hated him from that day onwards. My mother wasn't as upset about the speech as I was and thought he was just a grumpy senile old man. Every member of my family turned on him when the allegations got into the dozens. I was glad to see that sing prick go down. Fuck him

Does anyone still watch The Cosby Show ?

by Anonymousreply 339April 28, 2018 3:10 PM

It must be really hard on the other actors from the Cosby show. A lot of them did their most recognisable work while working on Cosby, and through no fault of their own they now have to stand by and watch its legacy destroyed.

If I was them I'd be incredibly angry at the damage Bill Cosby has caused to so many people.

by Anonymousreply 340April 28, 2018 3:30 PM

R339 I'm sure some people do. The Cosby Show is available for streaming on Amazon Prime and there was a review on there saying that despite Cosby's scandal, the person still felt the sitcom was groundbreaking and entertaining.

There is a podcast called Raised By TV hosted by comedians Lauren Lapkus and Jon Gabrus. They discuss a lot of 80s and 90s sitcoms they watched as kids. There was an episode where they did a TV family fantasty draft. Lauren picked Claire Huxtable as her TV mom and explained despite Bill Cosby, she still liked the sitcom and the characters.

I think years from now we might not see The Cosby Show included in those "Best of" lists or TV retrospect documentaries. I think it was almost year or so before the Hannibal Buress incident that PBS aired that documentary series Pioneers of Television which featured Bill Cosby. I watched the series when it first aired and I don't think PBS has ever aired it again because Cosby was in two or three episodes.

by Anonymousreply 341April 28, 2018 3:34 PM

R341 But people won’t be able to view the Cosby Show in the same way any longer. I always thought his character was a bit smug and forced

Keisha Knight-Pulliam, Phyllica Rashad, and Malcolm Jamal-Warner have defended Cosby. Tempestt Bledsoe and Sabrina Le Beauf have stayed on the down low about Cosby and the accusers.. They might be ones who are pissed at Cosby.

They are actors. They can act happy on cue. They got their money and their fame and they have had twenty-five years to adjust to post-Cosby glory. They'll endure,

[quote]But people won’t be able to view the Cosby Show in the same way any longer. I always thought his character was a bit smug and forced

As a little kid, I found the characters entertaining. Later on, as a teen and college student occasionally tuning into reruns I saw how smug and forced the characters were. In some ways, I thought Rashad's character was more smug and arrogant than Cosby's.

by Anonymousreply 345April 28, 2018 3:47 PM

I'm not talking about money or fame, r344. It's how the show will be viewed from now.

by Anonymousreply 346April 28, 2018 3:50 PM

R318 amen. That piece of shit that got Jackson off I was happy to see him getting his comeuppance. Almost as much as I enjoyed Cosby getting his.

by Anonymousreply 347April 28, 2018 4:11 PM

r331 I hear you and I understand exactly what you are saying. Our public image as a community has always been a negative one. Controlled by Whites to interpret, publish and loudly convey all our weaknesses, human difficulties, humiliations, destructions in a way that perpetuated the idea we are nothing but animals. Any positive images/ideas allowed to get to the public have been precious and few for over a hundred years.

It's too bad that some people cannot understand the reality of having so few heroes as a Black person living in America, that we would mourn the destruction of Cosby who was once such a great example of a talented, educated Black man. Yes we've got a lot of athletes to look up to and actors but Cosby was an amalgamation of entertainer, educator, businessman, father. A precious role model for a community who has struggled to grow due in part to the lack of fathers present in Black households.

We aren't saying we approve of or defend Cosby, we are mourning the loss of a hero and role model. I imagine it's a strange and difficult concept for someone coming from a community where their complexion, up until very recently, was the complexion of all heroes celebrated out in the world, fictional and otherwise.

by Anonymousreply 348April 28, 2018 4:14 PM

When I was a kid I was a fan of the monster. I am so glad those women came forward to tell their story. Most of the women he hurt probably did not come forward. He should be in prison right now, not in the comfort of his home. He is a very serious criminal.

by Anonymousreply 349April 28, 2018 4:18 PM

I can only imagine what the Cosby Show would’ve been like if another warmer, thoughtful and charismatic older black man wouldve been cast. Obviously wouldn’t be called Cosby Show lol. Love to be a fly on the wall in the Cosby household now. Smug prick. May he rot if there’s a God.

by Anonymousreply 350April 28, 2018 4:20 PM

by Anonymousreply 351April 28, 2018 4:23 PM

R351 yes Mr Huxtable

by Anonymousreply 352April 28, 2018 8:49 PM

"It's too bad that some people cannot understand the reality of having so few heroes as a Black person living in America, that we would mourn the destruction of Cosby who was once such a great example of a talented, educated Black man. "

My deepest sympathies to those who loved him, or who loved the man he pretended to be. He betrayed you, he took your money and your admiration and away from the camera he took the principles you admired and gave them a roofie and fucked them up the ass and pissed on them afterwards!!

The sad truth is that there are few people in public life who genuinely deserve admiration or the status of role model. Moral and admirable people aren't willing to do the things it takes to get to the top, and if a person stays at the top for a long time their ego will expand to such shocking proportion that they will lose any tiny shred of decency they may have left. I guess we need to take our role models from real life, not what we see in the media.

by Anonymousreply 353April 28, 2018 9:24 PM

Like everyone else in the 80s, I was a fan of Cosby and watched "The Cosby Show". I'd been a huge fan of his early comedy, and that show was funny!

But unlike most people, it didn't take me long to realize "The Cosby Show" had a dark side, and that Cliff and Claire Huxtable were very cold, critical, controlling parents, and that they shouldn't be held up as parenting role models. But I was alone in that, everyone called Cosby "America's Dad" and praised him past the skies and up to heaven, and treated him as a combination star, relative, and pundit. I don't think there's been a pop culture figure since who has had that kind of widespread cultural impact or universal praise, and was it enough to make the sonofabitch happy? No! He went right on being a cold, cranky, disapproving asshole in public, and evil in private.

by Anonymousreply 354April 28, 2018 9:32 PM

R353 correct. People have such a weird relationship with celebrities. The public by and large can’t see past an actor or singers talent to realize they’re just as fucked up as most. If not more so because they think they’re untouchable. In the case of Cosby it just boggles the mind thinking he got away with this for 40 years plus. I think it just snowballed and he kept using his celebrity and money as leverage over these women. It really makes you want to puke.

I never thought he was funny. I never could really under what made Cosby Show the smash that it was. Maybe with the dominance of more drama and soap fare in the early 80s people were just starved for family friendly fare. The motherfucker and Rashad just reeked of smugness on the show. It would’ve been great if one or all of the kids would’ve told both of them to go to hell .

White people might not get this on the same level as black people, as he was someone who brought positivity and dignity for black children, especially boys, into mainstream entertainment, from Fat Albert to his sitcom to the Little Bill books and cartoons.

The problem is that people seek validation from things like the entertainment media to feel better about themselves. They turn media entertainers into people with authority to look up to them and to guide them. It's all about feeling like shit and asking others to take that "feeling like shit feeling", you feel inside of you, away when in reality nobody but you can get rid of / deal with that feeling.

by Anonymousreply 358April 28, 2018 9:44 PM

Before all this came out about him was the Cosby show still popular? I always got the impression that people liked the show and might have watched it back in the day but it wasn't really shown in syndication anymore.

by Anonymousreply 359April 28, 2018 9:47 PM

Tv and movies are POWERFUL mediums. Cosby didn’t do anything for the black community without first lining his bank account. Fuck him and his wife.

by Anonymousreply 360April 28, 2018 9:48 PM

R359 the number one show last half of the 80s. Tv one still shows it. This might change since he’s been convicted. The show to me was never thought provoking, edgy, entertaining enough. Even in the realm of sitcoms. They’d do stupid shows like Cliff trying to win at cards or stay on his diet. Ugh. Very bland. The public loved it. Go figure.

by Anonymousreply 361April 28, 2018 9:52 PM

And it was exactly that bland 'Dad' guy image, the prestige of being a television star, and the power that fame and money bought him, that made his crimes possible. How evil that is and how tragic for his family and victims. This man's life was a wonder. Now, not so much.

by Anonymousreply 362April 28, 2018 9:57 PM

I would agree that the Cosby Show was just not a hit in syndication. But it happens often. Huge hits don't always translate to daily reruns and as I recall, TCS originally sold for a ridiculous, record amount for the first syndication cycle and was a major disappointment.

He did a kids show after TCS called Kids Say the Darndest Things and I think it was his first big network project after that hit show. It was a gigantic flop suggesting that Cosby Show was indeed lightning in a bottle. Right show, right time, right place. CBS tried an African American sitcom with Flip Wilson that some compared to Cosby if only because it both had black male comics as the lead. Although it failed, I think Wilson could have ridden the concept just as well as Cosby did as he was a much more likable personality.

by Anonymousreply 363April 28, 2018 10:09 PM

Weren't they going to originally make the father in the Cosby show a limo driver?

by Anonymousreply 364April 28, 2018 10:26 PM

R364, I doubt Cosby would have gone for that. He wanted to make the family as upper middle class as possible.

by Anonymousreply 365April 28, 2018 10:39 PM

It was groundbreaking for that reason, R365. That legacy will forever be tainted. Again, he had a wonderful rise and an equally spectacular and well deserved fall.

by Anonymousreply 366April 28, 2018 10:43 PM

Nobody will EVER find him funny in the show no more. A convicted rapist.

by Anonymousreply 367April 28, 2018 10:45 PM

Didn’t Bill get Lisa Bonet fired for getting pregnant and unmarried ?

by Anonymousreply 368April 28, 2018 10:49 PM

R368 I believed he wanted to kill two birds with one stone. Give her a spin off (of course line his pockets more) and get her off the Cosby Show. Then he decided she was much too valuable to let go and invited her back to Cosby. Would love a no holds barred interview with her about how he was on the show. She’s got nothing to lose and he’s already been disgraced.

by Anonymousreply 369April 28, 2018 10:59 PM

I feel sorry for all the former child actors on that show who just lost all their residuals.

by Anonymousreply 370April 29, 2018 12:23 AM

by Anonymousreply 378April 29, 2018 1:27 AM

I find it hard to understand why his wife has stood by him for this long. I don't think she knew he was drugging and raping women, however she must gave known he was constantly cheating on her.

by Anonymousreply 379April 29, 2018 3:12 AM

R379 she knows her place

by Anonymousreply 380April 29, 2018 3:19 AM

R379 ummmm he was worth about $400 million.

by Anonymousreply 381April 29, 2018 6:49 AM

And she could have taken a great deal of it r382. She knew he was cheating on her. She may not have known about the rapes but she knew he was unfaithful. She could have taken him to the cleaners, especially as they had 5 kids together. I think she liked the respect she got as Mrs Bill Cosby, the celebrity friends, the fancy parties, invitations to important events. If she had left him everything but the money would have disappeared, so she stayed. But now all that’s gone and she still stays, probably because she sold her self respect years ago when she decided to turn a blind eye to the prolific cheating in return for social status and invitations to the Emmys.

by Anonymousreply 382April 29, 2018 10:50 AM

I remember reading an interview with a university administrator who worked quite closely with her for a number of years. According to the interview she was nobody's fool, but stayed married to him not only because of her status as the wife of Bill Cosby, but also because of the amount of respect she received in the black community. They were really looked up to and admired by a lot if people.

by Anonymousreply 383April 29, 2018 11:03 AM

R338, I’m not black, but I saw that speech and I was horrified. He may as well have yelled “those you who are poor need to stop it, it’s embarrassing me, behave like the stereotypical white middle class people you see on tv”

I’m not black but I was shocked all the same. The whole speech was patronising, out of touch and utterly obnoxious. And ultimately it was all about him and his desire not be linked with a group of people he thought were beneath him. He’s came across as a nasty piece of work and I never looked at him the same way again.

by Anonymousreply 384April 29, 2018 11:08 AM

I'm 44 and the perfect age to have watched The Cosby Show.

My mother hated Bill Cosby and the show and called him a phony smug blowhard, even in 1984. She also has excellent gaydar.

I'm sure she is happy reading about this in Florida.

And Camille and Felicia (whatever spelling) had to know too. So many women are anti-women.

by Anonymousreply 385April 29, 2018 11:19 AM

Yes r384. Much of it was just him trying to portray other blacks as beneath him and saying he is successful because he isn't like them.

by Anonymousreply 386April 29, 2018 11:22 AM

Should we blame him for the black geek preppy look?

by Anonymousreply 387April 29, 2018 11:27 AM

Fresh Prince was way better than the Cosby Show.

by Anonymousreply 390April 29, 2018 11:52 AM

Agreed. I never related to the Cosby show because I grew up poor with just my mother. So this sprawling wealthy family really didn't seem all that interesting to follow to me.

Fresh Prince I found way more fun and funnier and I could relate to will.

by Anonymousreply 391April 29, 2018 12:04 PM

I would’ve ran away from home if Cliff Clair were my parents. Smug, condescending, critical, always had to be right. Cosby definitely had an agenda with this show. Glad karma has come back to bite him in the ass. I don’t even think I’ve seen a bigger celebrity hypocrite than this man.

by Anonymousreply 392April 29, 2018 12:13 PM

I feel a little sympathy for Camille. I mean, she married him when she was barely out of college, raised a family, and during that whole time she knew he was cheating on her. And the times were a lot different back in the 1960s-70s, it wasn't so easy just to divorce him and walk away. She also had young children and probably turned a blind eye to try and keep up appearances for both herself and his career.

I sincerely hope she had absolutely no idea he was drugging and abusing these women. I say that as she was married to him for over fifty years, and many people would be justifiably outraged if they thought she knew.

by Anonymousreply 393April 29, 2018 12:58 PM

[quote]Weren't they going to originally make the father in the Cosby show a limo driver?

Yes, the original plan/pilot was that the parents were going to be a limo driver and a plumber. It was actually Camille Cosby that pushed for the change for the parents to be a doctor and a lawyer. She and Bill pushed for the changes because they wanted to show upper middle class black family on TV. While it was a hit, some families of different races did say they found the Huxtable characters to smug, condescending, and out of touch.

Cosby later feuded with Roseanne Barr because her sitcom got a lot of praise for connecting with struggling middle and lower class families. Cosby complained that much of the show's content wasn't appropiate or family friendly. Barr fired back that at least her show was realistic. Cosby Show and Roseanne were produced by Carsey-Werner and I'm sure some people in the company were probably pushed to pick sides in Cosby/Barr feud. I totally dislike Roseanne Barr for various reasons. But, I thought her show was better than Cosby Show back then.

R306... and how about the list of the skank women who go after men for money........"oh here is a pill to help you relax"......sure i will take that because its bill cosby. and that skank janice dickenson, i have followed here and run into her all over the world. i was there when she fertilized that baby in her womb which was going to be her golden egg with stallone, which she lost,. she has been a skank around hollywood since the 1980s. chasing any man who might give her some dollars. she is pathetic. so for those of you who dont get it. there are creepy guys like cosby and there are skank women who make it there goal to find them. NONE of these women with glorida allred are lost little babes. they calculated and placed themselves in motel rooms and his private bedroom and then took alcohol and drugs by their own free will. they are skanks. so stop believing that this big bad monster cosby caused this..........everyone played their role. stop being dumb

by Anonymousreply 395April 29, 2018 4:38 PM

He probably did this shit constantly. Probably started that show so he could use it as a 'casting couch'. Who's going to admit, "I wanted a role on "Cosby" so yeah, I went up to his room... but I never imagined I'd be drugged and raped".

Imagine the legions of women not coming forward.

by Anonymousreply 396April 29, 2018 4:53 PM

When the Cosby Show first aired women with five children were not lawyers. You'd be hard pressed to find a female lawyer back then and even more hard pressed to find a woman with five kids, all still living at home, working outside the home in a male dominated industry. It was unrealistic and I remember thinking how unrealistic it all was.

I had also thought having his OB/GYN office in the *basement* of their home was fucked up. Something didn't seem right about that. I used to wonder why wasn't he a pediatrician instead of a crotch-checking OB-GYN. I mean, wouldn't that make more sense? And if it was too overwhelming to work with that, since you're dealing with having to direct kids acting as patients on the set, he didn't have to shoot that many scenes in his pediatrician's office with his child patients and their mothers. So instead, there he was, in his dingy basement, looking up women's crotches for a living when he could have been a pediatrician and incorporated an occasional scene from the kids' office visits that were funny and entertaining.

For one example of countless, when my niece was five and came down with the chicken pox, she was telling everyone she had the chicken pops. I remember one pediatrician saying that he could write a book on the hilarious things kids said during their office visits. Cosby could have used 'the funny things kids say to the doctor' in his skits, especially considering he was "America's Dad."

CASH WIND FALL..............disgusting. read what pamela lee says about these women. she came to hollywood and she was naive but not brain dead. she never went to hotel rooms or private homes for auditions. thats just dumb

Although I believe her, I have to ask why Andrea Constand had repeated contact with Cosby after he assaulted her? If she was truly as traumatised as she later stated she was, then how come she accepted other invitations to meet with him months after the attack.

I'm not questioning her honesty, I'm just wondering if she's ever stated why this was the case.

Captain Kangaroo should have had the career Bill Cosby had. The spy show, the stand up, the cartoon and his very own situational comedy all should have all been his. The phoney legacy of Bill Cosby denied Captain Kangaroo his rightful place in tv history.

by Anonymousreply 402April 29, 2018 7:14 PM

R400 As I understand it, Ms. Constand did not spend time with Cosby after the violation. According to this article, he claims that they had 3 encounters before this one, but she claims that those 3 encounters consisted of his making sexual advances, which she rebuffed. I think she reported that she was also acting as the liaison between the Temple University and Cosby, one of the universities most significant benefactors. She was in a relationship with a woman at the time.

I believe that the encounter was so disturbing that she walled it off in her mind until she was so affected by PTSD-like anxieties that she reported the incident to her mother.

She idolized him and he groomed her from the beginning. Manipulation, by definition, is the act of getting people to behave as you would like them to, against their better judgement.

She is ugly. I've seen pictures of her when she was a lot younger and she was still very mannish looking. I can't wrap my head around why Cosby went for her. Anyway, he obviously fucked with the wrong bull and it was her persistence that finally brought him down.

by Anonymousreply 405April 29, 2018 9:54 PM

Will Cosby appeal?

by Anonymousreply 406April 29, 2018 9:57 PM

So, she's not up to your standards R405? Who would you prefer to see Cosby drug and rape.?

by Anonymousreply 407April 29, 2018 9:57 PM

I am sure Camille knew and was OK with it, Cosby after all mostly raped white women.

Divorcing him would have meant she loses access to all the fame and prestige, the contacts, the high profile events. She's more evil than he is.

by Anonymousreply 408April 29, 2018 10:16 PM

I'm sure Cosby did rape and sexually assault women, now did he sexually assault Constand or rape her? Probably not.

by Anonymousreply 409April 29, 2018 10:19 PM

That's his high priced lawyers, r409. That's the way they operate, trying to create enough doubt and confusion within the jury that they'll find Constand unreliable on the witness stand.

Thankfully it didn't work this time.

by Anonymousreply 410April 29, 2018 10:28 PM

Omg he raped a bull,dyke?

by Anonymousreply 411April 29, 2018 10:48 PM

R405 men dont just rape attractive women. There are little old ladies who are raped. Rape is about power over someone who doesn’t want you, making them do something they would never choose to do with you. She didn’t want him, was probably repulsed by him and he was fucking offended. He was Bill Cosby ffs, who the fuck was she, so he raped her. That’ll teach her. Uppity women, even lesbians, don’t get away with rejecting him. Her looks were irrelevant.

by Anonymousreply 412April 29, 2018 10:53 PM

Pro rape trolls are the hardest to understand. I HIGHLY doubt they are rapists themselves so like... what are they doing? It's baffling

by Anonymousreply 413April 29, 2018 10:56 PM

Didn't all the late night hosts hate him? He had weird requests or something?

by Anonymousreply 414April 29, 2018 11:00 PM

^ IMO the only people who stand up for rapists are other rapists, sexual offenders, child molesters, sexual deviants, and those of their ilk. Not normal compassionate people. I blocked and F&F'd the rape troll who has posted over 2 dozen insensitive and offensive comments in this thread alone.

by Anonymousreply 415April 29, 2018 11:03 PM

You've got to ask yourself why he went after Constand. I'm not judging her in anyway but she was markedly different from most of his other victims. He most likely didn't have the same power in the entertainment industry like he once did and that made it difficult for him to find new victims.

by Anonymousreply 416April 29, 2018 11:06 PM

Rapists don't rape because they want sex with beautiful women. Cosby wasn't as famous but could easily have afforded the most beautiful prostitutes in the world with no risk to himself.

He raped because it made him feel powerful. That's the only reason he needed

by Anonymousreply 417April 29, 2018 11:11 PM

I recall there was a rumor that Cosby raped some Playboy Bunny back in the 70s.

by Anonymousreply 418April 29, 2018 11:26 PM

I think she's one of the ones who've already come forward, r418.

by Anonymousreply 419April 29, 2018 11:30 PM

I’m sure it was more than one r418, he practically lived at the mansion.

by Anonymousreply 420April 29, 2018 11:31 PM

Yep, Hugh Hefner was basically a pimp in all but name. How he never got his comeuppance before he died just like Cosby is a travesty.

by Anonymousreply 421April 29, 2018 11:49 PM

Hugh Hefner was a real nasty piece of work. That's for sure. But he also did make the world a far more sexually liberal place which is our natural state I've always believed. Rather than bottling it all away and hiding it.

And ultimately I think sexual liberalism helped along the eventual mainstream acceptance of gays

by Anonymousreply 422April 29, 2018 11:54 PM

He advocated more sexual liberation for straight men r422. He said it was for straight women too, but really he just wanted the girls to be less prudish so the straight men had more women to fuck. Women who slept around were and are still labelled sluts. He did sweet FA for gay people. Sure he believed gay people should sleep with whomever they wanted too, but didn’t really do anything to change people’s attitudes towards that. The only thing he really impacted was that men could go into a store, pick up a straight nudie magazine without being too embarrassed. The sexual revolution did a lot more than he ever did to change people’s attitudes towards sex. The scientists who invented the pill need far more credit than him. He just championed the straight guy’s right to jerk off without being embarrassed.

by Anonymousreply 423April 30, 2018 12:09 AM

R422: There's supposed to be a lot of real dirt on Hefner that never saw the light of day. That includes the overdose and death of one girl at the mansion, drug dealing, rape, and even his own son, who's alleged to have beaten and raped another one of the girls. And all this is just for starters. Hefner was a complete sleaze and dirtbag who got away with it. He was also gay and many of the girls talked about him watching gay porn.

by Anonymousreply 424April 30, 2018 12:14 AM

I wasn't trying to argue he deliberately or even knowingly made the world a better place for gays.

But I do believe he made it more okay for people to talk about sex and wanting sex. And that is no small thing. When sexual activities become more lax for straight people, you usually see much less hostility towards same sex attraction follow right behind it. It's the natural way of things I think. You can observe it during wars, and in other countries.

Pill Cosby on the Larry King show in 1991

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 426April 30, 2018 1:01 AM

R426 I saw him live in one of his stand-up comedy routines saying exactly that. It was somewhere around 2007 at the local theatre. I was with two of my friends. When we left the theater I asked them what the Spanish Fly comment was about and none of us could figure out what he was talking about and why he would bring that up. We were all puzzled over that comment. It didn't sound right. We had thought maybe it was like having sex all coked up and that it enhances the sexual experience.

But he had stated "You know, you put a little Spanish Fly in their drink and they drink it and you go at it for hours, women love it." His exact words. But once the story broke and women were coming forward we realized he had been trying to trivialize and normalize what he had done. He knew women were starting to come forward. We've never attended/watched his shows since then. We didn't know what was wrong, but we knew something wasn't right.

by Anonymousreply 427April 30, 2018 1:22 AM

He also said the same thing in one of his comedy records, r427. It's up on YouTube if anyone's interested.

by Anonymousreply 428April 30, 2018 6:27 AM

Does anyone think that a lot of these women were willing to have consensual intercourse with Cosby, and it was only when he drugged them it became rape? I'm not trying to judge any of the victims, but many of them were trying to break into the biz and had agreed to meet him in hotel rooms or had hooked up with him at social gatherings. I know this doesn't apply to many of the women, but some of the accounts seem like a hookup to me and that only changed when Cosby drugged them.

by Anonymousreply 429April 30, 2018 1:28 PM

[quote] Does anyone think that a lot of these women were willing to have consensual intercourse with Cosby, and it was only when he drugged them it became rape?

Just trash people.

by Anonymousreply 430April 30, 2018 1:32 PM

R395 Oh so you were there when she fertilized the baby in her womb(I have no idea what the hell that even means) who was going to be the golden ticket which would bond her to Stallone financially for 18 years? And she lost that baby?

You clearly know nothing and you surely weren't there. She did not lose that baby. Savannah was born, and Sly demanded a DNA test which proved Savannah was not his.

I hope you are just drunk. Otherwise you sound like you are delusional and grandiose.

by Anonymousreply 431April 30, 2018 1:56 PM

"Does anyone think that a lot of these women were willing to have consensual intercourse with Cosby, and it was only when he drugged them it became rape?"

Yeah, that's the weird thing about this case. Cosby could have all the pussy he wanted, especially if he was willing to pay for it in favors, but that wasn't what he wanted. He wanted helpless victims he could humiliate after they woke up, not a bit of fun with a woman who was eager to please.

I don't understand the mindset behind that. I suppose it's a sort of Madonna/whore complex, but then I've never understood the Madonna/whore thing either. Straight men LIKE whores, and want women who'll be sexually compliant and undemanding... why do some straight men despise slutty women and feel free to punish them for being sexual? Gay men have it right - everybody's sexual!

by Anonymousreply 432April 30, 2018 3:03 PM

R431 Umm R 395 is the Rape Troll who victim-blames.

He has over 20 nasty, insensitive and idiotic posts on this thread alone; an insensitive, immature, argumentative, misogynist bore.

He's been blocked and F&F'd. Block & F&F him and you'll see all his many nasty posts disappear and you won't be subjected to them again and have to read any new ones.

by Anonymousreply 433April 30, 2018 5:38 PM

R429 I'm guessing that most of them had consensual sex with Cosby and were totally fine with taking drugs since this was very popular to do in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and even early 2000s through today.

Also, Constand was not raped, or sexually assaulted, she just made it up for attention and money.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 434April 30, 2018 6:42 PM

He obviously did it, I just don't believe all of the women. Some of them might be telling outright lies like Beverley Johnson, others might have agreed to hookup with Cosby and their stories only changed when the whole thing blew up with Constand. As far as the drugs go it was a different time, and there were many people who took quaaludes for recreational purposes and never gave it a second thought. Cosby wasn't the only one who indulged in this behaviour and many of his "victims" most likely knew what they were taking.

As I've stated: I believe many of the victims accounts, I just don't believe them all.

by Anonymousreply 435April 30, 2018 7:47 PM

How many victims would be the right number for you to believe that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted women without their knowledge and/or consent R435?

I doubt that ALL the dudes you coerced into fucking you were victims either. Doesn't mean you're not a victimizer.

by Anonymousreply 436April 30, 2018 8:18 PM

I wonder what happened to Autumn Jackson?

by Anonymousreply 437April 30, 2018 9:23 PM

When is it finally going to come out that Cosby roofied Inger Stevens. It was the trauma from being drugged and raped by Cosby that really lead to her suicide.

by Anonymousreply 438April 30, 2018 10:33 PM

^ Yes, and seeing him admired and loved as "America's Dad" making tons of money and becoming even more famous by the day.

Aside from the pain and trauma, seeing your violent rapist rise to fame with more wealth then he could ever spend and being applauded everywhere he went, had to sting really bad. I doubt she's the only victim who committed suicide over the drugging and rape, having her body violated. I am sure he has victims we've never heard of; some who have already passed on due to suicide or illness/natural death and some who just could not come forward.

R435 nailed nothing r441. He’s a serial rapist, they don’t get off making sweet love on Monday and raping someone else on Tuesday. They enjoy raping. It’s how they get their rocks off. At least two women have come forward to say they would have willingly had sex with him, but he didn’t even hit on them he just drugged them instead. He gets off on the power of scaring the shit out of his victims like all rapists. You just want to make excuses because he’s a celebrity. Would you make the same excuses for DeAngelo, the golden state killer, who has just been done for serial rape? Or is that different because he’s a monster and the other one is Dr Huxtable. Rapists like to rape. They don’t want consent. That’s how it works. He’s a monster no different to DeAngelo.

by Anonymousreply 442May 1, 2018 2:56 AM

Wayne Williams is a multiple murderer, but he is not "the Atlanta Child Murderer" who killed all the children. Some of them were killed by family members. It's possible to be both.

I can believe some women's accounts without believing all of them quite easily, especially with how the whole #metoo shook out. And remember, Costand is the only one who *could* take him to court, due to statute of limitations rules. That's why I don't like this verdict, because I think it's nullification, even though I think he is a rapist.

by Anonymousreply 443May 1, 2018 5:41 AM

You're a nutjob R443. Nobody reads anything you have to say. Start a petition somewhere you weird bitch.

["The stress of seeing his career and legacy destroyed "]

HE destroyed it.

by Anonymousreply 445May 1, 2018 6:10 AM

R433 Speaking of unhinged nut jobs, you win the prize in this thread.

You accuse R431 of being a RAPE TROLL who has spewed pro rape posts throughout this thread, and yet after ignore-daring him or her, he/she has a grand total of 6 posts in a thread containing 445. None of them excuse or in any way promote rape. They are mostly about the fact that he/she believes that many black people are salty about a black man being brought down when there are many white men who are walking free. He/she got a lot of push back on that, but none of the comments excuse the crime of rape in any way.

And then when R395 made that ludicrous statemnt about being present when Sylvester Stallone impregnated Janice Dickinson' womb, and Janice later lost her baby, R431 corrected him by saying what everyone knows which is Janice did not lose that baby. The baby was born, and a DNA test proved that Stallone was not the father. I notice that R395 has never returned to clarify or own up to his lie.

I took the time to skim your many posts, and you seem to be quite damaged. You are fixated with rape, and I get the feeling that you were raped. If that is so, I am sorry for your pain. But that does not give you the imprimatur to spew verbal diarrhea all over this thread exorcising your personal demons. That is what a therapist is for.

No sane person believes Cosby is innocent, He is and was a horrible, disgusting person, and he got what he deserves.

However your decision to become the thread monitor telling one and all who to block and who to F&F is most off putting. You come across as arrogant and bossy, and frankly not very bright. In the future feel free to block and F&F whoever you choose, but keep your trap shut as to how others must react. I sincerely think that you have mental illness, and you could benefit immensely from some therapy and medication.

R443 How do you reconcile that the child murders ceased after Williams was arrested?

Do you believe that the murders were actually white supremacist's work?

by Anonymousreply 447May 1, 2018 12:08 PM

Not for nothing, Condola Rashad was nominated for a Tony today.

by Anonymousreply 448May 1, 2018 3:55 PM

R443 The cops and FBI arrested the correct man, and Wayne Williams did murder black children, and was the Atlanta child killer.

Oh good lord - are we STILL trying to make this a white on black crime after all these decades? Wayne Williams did it - no imaginary "KKK" member, copycat white child killers, a pedo ring, or cars full of white men that were stalking entirely black Atlanta projects and black neighborhoods snatching children to kill them. Like they wouldn't be noticed by everyone living there at all? Give me a break.

Wayne Williams the black closet case that did this profiled these kids based upon his self hatred of his race and sexual orientation. Wayne Williams hated being black, poor, and gay. He hated seeing kids that he knew would grow up to be stereotypical thugs bringing down the black race. He also hated them because they represented future bullies who would pick on him because he was gay. It was all very psycho-drama. Williams also calls his victims "drop shots" which in his twisted mind means that they are basically worthless ghetto trash as he says in the documentary above.

Williams blended in extremely well as he is black and would not have been noticed talking to children, driving through black neighborhoods, or having black children get into his vehicle. Williams also lured/enticed children/teens and young adults into thinking he could make them famous.

Absurdity goes on... "On August 6, 2005, it was revealed that Charles T. Sanders, a white supremacist affiliated with the Ku Klux Klan, who had been investigated for a role in the Atlanta child killings, once praised the crimes in secretly recorded conversations. Although Sanders did not claim responsibility for any of the deaths, Williams' lawyers believed the evidence would help their bid for a new trial. Sanders told an informant for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in the 1981 recording that the killer had "wiped out a thousand future generations of n____s."

Police dropped the probe into the KKK's possible involvement after seven weeks, when Sanders and two of his brothers passed lie detector tests. The case was once again closed on July 21, 2006"

The documentary link I posted above explains all of this and the cops/FBI were not racist, as a lot of the investigators were black. All roads and evidence lead back to Wayne Williams being the Atlanta serial killer.

R442 DeAngelo and Cosby are not in the same league. DeAngelo is a sociopath/psychopath and serial killer. Cosby used his fame to sleep with women, and probably did sexually assault women, but nobody forced them to spread their legs for Cosby or to take downers like quaaludes, alcohol, or benzos. A lot of the supposed "victims" were hurt that he did not leave his wife for them, make them famous, or marry them, they now just want money, or media attention. Constand even told people she was going to frame a male celebrity to extort money which is what she did to Cosby. Also, if these women were raped why did none of them go to a hospital or file a police report?

Bill Clinton and the Stephen Collins are rapists yet I suppose they get a pass for their nasty disgusting behaviour since they are white men, eh?

by Anonymousreply 451May 3, 2018 9:48 PM

I hope they don't put him on house arrest, R451. It'd be more of punishment for his wife and staff, than for him.

by Anonymousreply 452May 3, 2018 9:57 PM

The fact that Cosby wasn't just going for sex, but for sex with women who were helpless and unconscious and mostly white or light skinned makes the whole thing extremely creepy.

by Anonymousreply 453May 3, 2018 10:33 PM

r447 I am not a crackpot for choosing to believe what I read about those crimes. It was, as you would know, a racial powder-keg at the time, due to both rumours about Klan involvement (which I don't believe), and the slow LE response. The latter was due to racism in the minds of many AAs in and out of Atlanta.

The police had evidence that some, not all, of the murders were committed by family members. They did not publicize that at the time because a) they didn't have a slam dunk like DNA then, and b) the situation was deemed too politically sensitive and volatile. After WW was arrested, it was the opinion of some in the task force that he did kill some of the children, so any mention of the other cases was verboten. There was a pay-out made to the families as well, which some investigators felt was related to the familial murders. Again, that was *not* something that could be said in that climate. I only read about it years later in relation to the complexity of serial killer investigations.

It's worth noting that WW was charged not with the children's killings but with the adults' murders. They implied that he was the Atlanta Child Killer, but by not trying him, they avoided his defense team using the other cases to sow reasonable doubt and have him be freed entirely. The whole child predator motive/angle would never be introduced, and it would be effectively a straightforward murder case.

That's why I mentioned it here: it's possible that Cosby is a rapist, but that doesn't mean all the women who came forward are telling the truth. I don't like the precedent of retroactive justice for cases that were never adjudicated.

by Anonymousreply 460May 4, 2018 3:54 AM

she is an enabler. she should go to jail too. There is no way she didn't know. I'm sure others have told her about his behavior.

by Anonymousreply 461May 4, 2018 3:59 AM

R461 should every spouse go to jail for staying married to someone who may have done horrible things? Are we to assume that everyone who has a long term intimate relationship with someone who essentially lead a double life knows and therefore enables their crimes. Keeping in mind that 1/2 of all married men cheat. And many women choose to over look it. And most people don’t believe that their loved ones are capable of committing heinous crimes.

by Anonymousreply 462May 4, 2018 4:19 AM

R461 she knew he was a serial cheater. It’s debatable if she realised he was raping women as well. If she had any self respect she would have left years ago. It’s not like she would have been a regular single mom with five kids on the poverty line. She could have taken him to the cleaners and her lifestyle wouldn’t have been much different. The appalling part is now she knows who he really is and not only does she stay, but she defends him. Clearly she’s devoid of compassion, but where is her self worth and dignity. It’s dumbfounding.

Has their dear friend Oprah Winfrey chimed in yet?

by Anonymousreply 464May 4, 2018 2:46 PM

I think Oprah stopped associating with the Cosbys sometime after the scandal. There are plenty of things that piss me off about Oprah, but she is better than the cunt Whoopi Goldberg.

by Anonymousreply 465May 4, 2018 5:11 PM

I agree r465. Whoopi is in the side of the famous, regardless of their character or behaviour. They can do no wrong. If they want to rape, well let them! The victim should consider themselves fortunate that they were chosen to be touched by a celebrity.

by Anonymousreply 466May 4, 2018 7:12 PM

The Cosby's be crazy. Who names their kid Annus. Annus Cosby, yikes.

by Anonymousreply 467May 4, 2018 7:17 PM

There's always some nutter on crime threads, who finds some female close to the male perpetrator and whines "She knew, it's HER fault, SHE should go to jail!".

He's a loon, of course. Obviously Camille didn't rape any of those women, but if she's been an active part of covering up crimes or paying off victims then she could be included in any civil actions coming up. Even if she files for divorce in an attempt to protect half of the Cosby fortune, it might not be safe.

by Anonymousreply 468May 4, 2018 7:48 PM

R457 has never heard of light-skinned black people.

by Anonymousreply 469May 5, 2018 10:52 AM

by Anonymousreply 470May 5, 2018 7:08 PM

by Anonymousreply 471May 5, 2018 11:08 PM

Actually yes she does R470, but the "Camille Cosby is not black!" troll is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 472May 6, 2018 10:17 AM

I am pretty sure that Camille is of New Orleans creole stock. In that case, she would have both light skin and European features.

I agree with the poster who said that all of the continent of Africa cannot be broken down to having "a look.:

Here in the US, to be very candid and not so PC, we are used to descendants of West Africans(particularly Yorubans), and yes, there are certain features and skin tones which seem universally shared by most AAs. But all you have to do is look at Ethiopians, Somalis. Cape Verdeans and many others to see that the range is as wide as it is with white Europeans. And I am counting Italians...even though at DL they are considered adjacent.

I find Ethiopians to be very, very good looking. And the Maasai are freaking gorgeous and elegant.

by Anonymousreply 473May 6, 2018 1:26 PM

I was once accused of being racist because I said that Ethiopian women were the most beautiful in Africa. They said “why? Because they have thin lips and noses? Because their hair has curls instead of kinks?” They said I was being Eurocentric even regarding African women.

You can’t win.

by Anonymousreply 474May 6, 2018 1:56 PM
