So far, I’ve only read devil’s advocate type stuff and her explaining the mindset of straight people. From what protesters were saying you’d think she was using the f word, rot in hell, abomination, etc.
Post what Joy Reid said that’s so inflammatory please.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | April 30, 2018 2:44 PM |
Joy Reid was targeted by the Trump/Alt White is Right Nationalistic haters. She has one of the most popular shows on the weekend - well regarded, large viewership. Joy is NOT A BIGOT - how ironic that racist Trumpists are doing this stuff. Joy is a progressive, as a reporter she had an obligation to report the conflicts in all communities - that is what she was doing. In the early 2000’s homophobia in the Friday American, Miami Haitian community was horrific. I was there, I know. Joy cannot be held accountable for the communities she covered, it was not HER JOB to punch back.
Taking Joy down is the wet dream of the Stephen Milliers, Milos, Jeff Sessions fo the world. Let old news BE OLD NEWS. Dont do their dirty work for them. Joy is ALRIGHT with this Homo!
by Anonymous | reply 1 | April 25, 2018 3:56 AM |
So, if she is part of your wolf pack, then temporary homophobia is okay? Because if that is true, then all your standards are conditional.
The most disturbing facet of this "scandal" has been discovering how tenuous the bond is between the white gay community and Blacks(be they gay or straight.)
If she indeed was hacked and never said any of the things which were in her blog, then fine. But if she did say the things in the Brokeback Mountain era, and they were uncovered by a group of Republican thugs who would love to discredit her and take her down, does that make her innocent of homophobia? If the Mediaite piece is accurate, you are okay with that?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 25, 2018 5:19 AM |
r2 Nicely said. You can tell even her defenders don't believe her hacking story because they always make sure to include a part saying, "even if she did it, we should forgive her".
And by the way, it was not Republicans who uncovered her posts.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 25, 2018 5:41 AM |
OP, this is the worst of her posts.
Here's how the NYT summed up her posts:
'The latest group of alleged blog posts includes a great deal of material that might embarrass a prominent liberal figure like Ms. Reid, including expressions of disgust at the thought of homosexuality, opposition to gay marriage, claims that gay men prey on “impressionable teens” and criticism of political correctness.'
She was also obsessed with bashing Brokeback Mountain for how gross it must have been, though she always made clear didn't have the stomach to actually watch it. She also defended a basketball player who said he hated gay people, because it's normal for breeders to feel that way.
If you don't take an issue with any of that, then you haven't actually looked for the posts at all, or you're just being fed watered down versions of her posts by the "Resistance" cult.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 25, 2018 5:45 AM |
I would like to add that to me, this is nothing like the Al Franken fiasco. That was small potatoes compared to this.
Al was a victim of a momentary lapse in judgment at the very worst. The blog writings expose a level of homophobia which far exceeds any words in print which have ever come out of Cheeto's mouth. I know that goes against everything we want to believe, but it is true.
Bear in mind, I don't doubt that he may have said as bad or worse in private conversation; but even HE has better sense than to commit those thoughts to "paper" where they remain for posterity,
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 25, 2018 7:16 AM |
There are no replies in the Comments section of her posts. There would be if she had posted something so inflammatory.
This is a scary precedent. People can just back-post shit using your social media profiles. Next-up: fake photos.
It's becoming apparent that the Republican-Russian connection began with them studying how to do kompromat with them. Then it was just a short trip to, "Hey, we're losing- can ya'll help us win this election?".
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 25, 2018 4:09 PM |
The right has been trying to pile on Joy Reid, and I tend to believe Joy over some Trumpettes. There are zero indications that Joy is homophobic except for some sudden blog posts that appeared just like the Al Franken “groping picture”, which was complete made up shit.
In time the truth will hopefully come out.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | April 25, 2018 4:33 PM |
R6, exactly! Someone makes homophobic blog comments and there is not one response? Right.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 25, 2018 4:35 PM |
Comments wouldn't be stored by the archive sites because they would be stored on a separate domain. If you look at any of her articles, the comments aren't available on any of them. Including the Crist entries she already admitted to.
The fact they tried to use that as a defence, in addition to their actions since to take down the stored copies from the Wayback Machine using robots.txt is pretty suspicious to me. If, as they claim, these blog posts are so unusual and so obviously fake and so on, why the rush to hide them, rather than let everyone see how fake they are? Hell, why not even name the federal body investigating the alleged hacking?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 25, 2018 4:51 PM |
R9, you’re saying that they can just claim that this is being investigated by some federal agency without anyone following up on the status of the inquiry? Like Trump’s taxes which have been under IRS review since 1874?
I’m not saying that Joy didn’t write the posts, but she does and Joy has the right to prove her claims and her innocence. I refuse to jump on every accusation until there’s sufficient evidence.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 25, 2018 4:59 PM |
Exactly, she had the so-called "original" posts deleted from the wayback machine within days, when they would have been the very proof that what she's being accused of is based on doctored/altered posts.
You don't erase the proof of your innocence!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 25, 2018 5:46 PM |
The right is pretending to be so disgusted yet they are pushing for the confirmation of Mike Pompeo for Secretary of State. He STILL believes gay marriage should be banned.
At least Joy has evolved.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | April 25, 2018 5:50 PM |
I don't get it either. All she said was that she recoils at the idea of gay sex, while acknowledging that gay people probably recoil at straight sex. Was she so wrong? Because if not, someone needs to explain all the "ew vagina" posts on here.
She was being honest about intrinsic feelings, not saying that gay people are worth less than straight people or that we shouldn't have the same rights.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | April 25, 2018 5:51 PM |
#9 has been hopping from every Joy Reid post and saying that. Agenda?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 25, 2018 5:51 PM |
Just saw R4s post. I guess I didn't read all of her old posts.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 25, 2018 5:53 PM |
How could what Joy said be any worse than what we say on DL?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 25, 2018 5:54 PM |
Yeah, R14, I posted about the comments in two threads, and? Only a fool would try and pretend someone posting something entirely factual is proof of an agenda.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 25, 2018 5:56 PM |
The media are circling the wagons. It’s not going to work.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 25, 2018 6:12 PM |
Fake news!
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 25, 2018 6:25 PM |
Oh, that was funny R21, whichever side you are on.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | April 25, 2018 8:28 PM |
R21, not funny at all, especially when you read the rest of the guy’s tweets. Typical right-wing shitstain.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 25, 2018 8:37 PM |
Thread closed.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 25, 2018 9:20 PM |
Wait. Is she sayilng these are her feelings about homosexuality or is she saying this is what others feel about it? Because it's true, that is what some people feel.
Am I misreading this or is this being misused to attack her?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | April 25, 2018 9:20 PM |
R25 Would she have denied saying it if was just the latter?
by Anonymous | reply 26 | April 25, 2018 9:23 PM |
R26, maybe. Because people misread and misconstrue - deliberately - in order to attack and bring down people.
So you're saying there are other posts that say SHE HERSELF feels homosexuality is immoral or gross. And you're saying SHE HERSELF feels gays try to lure the young into their "lifestyle"? If all this is is her reporting what others think about it then this is a baseless and rather ignorant attack on Reid.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 25, 2018 9:30 PM |
[QUOTE]Because people misread and misconstrue - deliberately - in order to attack and bring down people.
So rather than say "I wasn't saying I believed those things" she instead lies? Oh yeah, great tactics.
[QUOTE]So you're saying there are other posts that say SHE HERSELF feels homosexuality is immoral or gross. And you're saying SHE HERSELF feels gays try to lure the young into their "lifestyle"?
Yes, hell she outright says that she's probably a homophobe...
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 25, 2018 9:41 PM |
And she presents the idea of gay men being attracted to young boys as a fact
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 25, 2018 9:43 PM |
Post means after. Adulthood comes after puberty.
If this is all, it’s not much. Is it a crime to have an opinion? I don’t like some of what she said, but there are MANY straight people who would concur. Of course, they might not say it publicly. But everybody has heard stuff like this. It does color my opinion of her, but...and this is a big but:
If you think tapioca is gross do you have anorexia? If you think dogs are gross are you an animal hater? If you think fat people having sex is gross are you being unfair?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 25, 2018 10:32 PM |
R30 I have read about one thousand different comments defending and accusing Joy Reid today, but yours is by far the most hilariously pathetic.
People working in the legit media traditionally refrain from making such opinions public for a host of reasons. Surely you understand how this would compromise her legitimacy?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | April 25, 2018 10:50 PM |
In R29 screen cap she is positing what some straight and religious people think about homosexuality. I don't see where she is saying that for herself. The last paragraph of that cap seems to indicate that she doesn't agree with those sentiments.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 25, 2018 11:02 PM |
The point is that nothing I’ve read so far from Joy’s blog is homophobic, and she doesn’t have a reason to lie about being hacked now when she apologized for the initial post and moved on.
She doesn’t strike me as a liar. But Joy has many haters because she’s a very outspoken critic of the current criminal regime.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 25, 2018 11:06 PM |
This is a dead story. They, thankfully, are not letting Joy go at MSNBC and the racist gays will need to find another bone to chew on.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | April 25, 2018 11:14 PM |
What she said 12 years ago is not going to be the issue. Lying about being hacked is.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 25, 2018 11:18 PM |
R35, why would she lie about being hacked when she immediately admitted that she wrote the initial post on her blog? It doesn’t make any sense for her to lie now.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 25, 2018 11:24 PM |
She didn't lie about being jacked, you racist fag.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 26, 2018 3:29 AM |
So she gets a free pass because she's black and obviously black people can't be bigots right? Also white people are terrified of being labelled racist. Same old same old. When will black people be held accountable for their blatant homophobia?
by Anonymous | reply 38 | April 26, 2018 4:50 AM |
Joy always gets attacked by both the alt-right and the BernieBros. She has too many enemies for me not to think this is suspicious.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 26, 2018 4:54 AM |
R39 by now we should know that BernieBros and the alt-right overlap in the majority of their views.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | April 26, 2018 4:58 AM |
If the OP can't understand what she has been alleged to write that is homophobic, the OP clearly has reading comprehension and possibly worse cognitive problems.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 26, 2018 5:52 AM |
Oh right r31, but if it was about abortion, she would hide the fact that she’s pro-choice. *rolls eyes*
I’m not defending her, I’m acting as devil’s advocate to invite discussion. Forgot everything is black and white on DL. Sorry!
by Anonymous | reply 42 | April 26, 2018 5:56 AM |
R41, She thinks two men kissing is gross She thinks straight men would agree She thinks gay men like twinks Immoral? Well, orgies, barebacking, father son relationships, scat, poppers, bondage, yeah I could see where a straight person could misconstrue that.
Got any more? Where’s the beef?
by Anonymous | reply 43 | April 26, 2018 6:04 AM |
R43 she said SHE thinks that, moron!! that's why she wouldn't go see brokeback mountain.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | April 26, 2018 6:06 AM |
[quote]by now we should know that BernieBros and the alt-right overlap in the majority of their views
Such as? Which views, exactly?
by Anonymous | reply 45 | April 26, 2018 6:11 AM |
R44, right dear, and it’s underwhelming. So what if she thinks it’s unappealing? I think Last Tango In Paris is gross.
Next
by Anonymous | reply 46 | April 26, 2018 7:04 AM |
^^^ MOron.... it's the REASON she didn't want to see it, because she thinks gays kissing is gross.
how do you people even operate a computer??
by Anonymous | reply 47 | April 26, 2018 7:08 AM |
^^^SO WHAT, SO WHAT, SO WHAT?!?! She doesn’t like gay kissing, let’s burn her at the stake!
by Anonymous | reply 48 | April 26, 2018 7:21 AM |
Apparently the FBI is now investigation the hacking and we will have an answer to Reid’s claims soon.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | April 26, 2018 2:15 PM |
I've read some more now. Yes she seems to be saying she is uncomfortable with watching what she calls gay sex or gay affection. She suggests that makes her a homophobe. She does not say she agrees with those who think gay men are luring youth into their "lifestyle", or at least I'm not reading that. And she said she was opposed to gay marriage.
You know what, I don't care if someone feels uncomfortable watching others have sex or if they are particularly uncomfortable with sex that seems "unnatural" to their tastes.
I don't want to watch mothers breastfeeding their children in public in a way I have to witness everything about it. That doesn't mean I don't think breastfeeding isn't a beautiful and wonderful and natural thing. It doesn't mean that I don't support their right to be able to breastfeed when they need to. Maybe this an imperfect analogy.
I care about what they DO: support anti-discrimination against gays a d other minorities, treat everyone with respect and fairness, expose discrimination. There are some feelings that will never change and as long they don't manifest as behavior then so be it.
The stuff anout hacking is weird though. Not sure what she is doing with that.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | April 26, 2018 3:48 PM |
[quote]She does not say she agrees with those who think gay men are luring youth into their "lifestyle", or at least I'm not reading
No. She just repeats their talking points without comment. This is the most disturbing comment to me.

R37 is worse than the worst racist f*g on Data Lounge.
God how I hate that pig.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | April 30, 2018 11:33 AM |
My outrage reserves are becoming so depleted these days. Seems like she kind of messed up but I'm so much angrier about all the other things currently going on.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | April 30, 2018 11:40 AM |
R48 Ask yourself this: if a white show host said, "I just don't like seeing a white woman with a black man," how do you think that progressives would react?
