George HW Bush in ICU

It’s going to be another Carrie/Debbie situation.

by Anonymousreply 1April 23, 2018 11:15 PM

The statement they released doesn't make it sound like this is it.

[quote]He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering. We will issue additional updates as events warrant

by Anonymousreply 2April 23, 2018 11:17 PM

Heard on CNN moments ago they gave the family a timeline.

by Anonymousreply 3April 23, 2018 11:18 PM

My thoughts and prayers are with the Bush family.

by Anonymousreply 4April 23, 2018 11:19 PM

I thought he’d go in a skydiving accident. Or get his ass kicked by a woman he groped.

by Anonymousreply 8April 23, 2018 11:23 PM

R8, that’s so helpful of you to share.

by Anonymousreply 9April 23, 2018 11:26 PM

Wasn't there a big health scare for him a few years ago? I thought he was always in worse health than Barbara, but I guess not.

With his age, sepsis, and Parkinson's - it is not exactly going to go well. The timing, like r1 pointed out, is just so odd....how people just go like that so fast. Didn't Anna Nicole die like a week after her son too?

by Anonymousreply 10April 23, 2018 11:33 PM

If I was him, my heart would give out, too. It’s so sad.

by Anonymousreply 11April 23, 2018 11:36 PM

They’d been married since 1945. Their 73rd Anniversary was three months ago. I can’t even. 😭

by Anonymousreply 12April 23, 2018 11:41 PM

Good riddance!

by Anonymousreply 13April 23, 2018 11:41 PM

Jimmy Carter is going to outlive everybody. He’s the Olivia de Havilland of politics.

by Anonymousreply 14April 23, 2018 11:45 PM

I give him 2 weeks TOPS.

That was his best friend. He’ll go quickly now that she’s gone.

I have no ill will towards the old fucker. I believe he was behind lots of shady shit, and I also believe that his sexual predilections were troubling, at best. But what’s done is done.

The old guard needs to die in order for there to be true change in this country. Too bad they teach all of their descendants to be despicable people as well.

by Anonymousreply 25April 23, 2018 11:56 PM

Who’s making some money on this?

by Anonymousreply 28April 23, 2018 11:59 PM

My parents died 12 days apart. My father, who had lung cancer, died very peacefully in his sleep, primarily from congestive heart failure. He was 80. My mother, who wasn't even ill and was very active and engaged, got through his wake and funeral (Catholic), however from that point forward just decompensated in a big way - could not even look at the piles and piles of sympathy cards, flowers, barely ate, slept most of the afternoon and evening, and finally had a stroke on day 12. They had been married 60 years. My paternal grandparents died exactly one year to the day - same scenario. My grandfather died first, and my grandmother, who was healthy right up to that very day, lay down for a nap in the afternoon and never got up.

There is definitely such a thing as Takosubo ("broken heart") syndrome.

by Anonymousreply 29April 23, 2018 11:59 PM

[quote]He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering.

God, why don't they just let him go?

I can't bear the way they stretch out the torture for these people.

by Anonymousreply 30April 24, 2018 12:00 AM

Do you know anything about George H.W. Bush, R25, anything at all?

R26, I'm reading comment sections in which the majority of the commenters are acting as if Christ is dying, grief-stricken after Mary Magdalene died a few days ago.

The biggest problem with Americans is that we never even learn our own history, much less that of the rest of the world. The second biggest problem is even those who know American history excuse our own atrocities. George HW Bush is a monster, and yet, for from being held accountable, even posters who know his history are giving him a pass.

by Anonymousreply 31April 24, 2018 12:01 AM

Re R18: Pappy was cute in his day, but Babs always look-a like-a man.

by Anonymousreply 32April 24, 2018 12:10 AM

R31, he’s getting a pass because he’s dying, not because he is a decent man. At least that’s my reason.

We both know it’s over. No one is running to the ICU in order to serve indictment documents to George H.W. Bush. It’s over. He will never be held accountable. Spooks rarely ever are. Don’t be naive. The “company” men of his era became wealthy beyond belief, due to the pain and suffering they knowingly inflicted on millions. Is that OK? Fuck no, but it is what it is, and the CIA isn’t going anywhere, because the USA must have war and conflict, and atrocities committed in the name of country and duty, in order to keep the money flowing.

I hate that this man was a figurehead in creating that business/policy model, and now he’s dying. The end.

by Anonymousreply 33April 24, 2018 12:14 AM

It certainly sounds grim from what I just read at CNN.

by Anonymousreply 34April 24, 2018 12:16 AM

by Anonymousreply 40April 24, 2018 12:39 AM

Yes, r39, I believe he did.

He and his fellow spooks were also responsible for other notable assassinations on American soil.

R40, R39 isn’t a crackpot. There have been books written by well respected historians who strongly suggest that this was a possibility, and I agree.

by Anonymousreply 41April 24, 2018 12:44 AM

by Anonymousreply 43April 24, 2018 12:50 AM

R40, US history is full of false flag operations and other skullduggery, some involving the CIA, or other elements of the US government/media, which are eventually exposed decades later. The sinking of the Luisitania, the overthrow of Mossadegh and the Gulf of Tonkin are three.

HW was up to his eyeballs in skullduggery - the "young Kuwaiti nurse" who talked about premature babies being thrown out of incubators by Iraqi soldiers, which led to Americans getting behind Gulf War I, ended up being the daughter of the Kuwati ambassador.

George HW Bush played the American people into war. Read up on the Iraqi Highway of Death and what HW allowed to happen to the Shiite uprising against Saddam that we lied them into.

Americans today seem to be so incredibly naive and trusting of their own government - how did this happen?

by Anonymousreply 44April 24, 2018 12:50 AM

All we can hope is that history eventually paints him and his son and their whole orbit as the jackals they always were.

by Anonymousreply 49April 24, 2018 12:58 AM

No, R49, I think that the best thing to do is to educate our fellow Americans as to exactly who George HW Bush is and what he did. All of the lies of our past presidents led us to Trump - we will never break the cycle unless we expose their histories (the Democrats too) , their lies, and all the horrific actions they took.

by Anonymousreply 55April 24, 2018 1:09 AM

Sorry, I don't consider Cheeto Head one. At least not legitimate.

by Anonymousreply 56April 24, 2018 1:09 AM

Trump is absolutely a GOP President. He's vile, and they're vile—and he's helping to enact their regressive agenda. Why would you try to unyoke them?

by Anonymousreply 57April 24, 2018 1:12 AM

He wasn't a particular favorite of mine, but it broke my heart seeing him sobbing at Barbara's funeral. My Dad only held on for a couple of months after my Mom died. I feel terribly for what their family is experiencing right now, having gone through it myself.

by Anonymousreply 58April 24, 2018 1:12 AM

I didn't watch the funeral. He cried? I assume Jeb would have cried.

by Anonymousreply 59April 24, 2018 1:17 AM

Let’s get personal, and away from his politics for a moment.

This man was a huge POS. He put his ridiculously once naive, now dead wife, through hell.

Women of her era stayed married to men like him. He was a horrible husband, and I am going to make some pretty bold assumptions when I say that I wouldn’t be surprised if there were a variety of crises, such as attempted suicide, that befell the late Mrs. Bush.

She drank and became a shell of her former self due to her husband’s deplorable behavior during their marriage. It was the only way she was able to cope. And it never stopped him from continuing his shitty behavior. Even in a wheelchair, the man was a POS.

How you treat your wife says so, so much, about how you will treat others.

Everyone’s human. Everyone fucks up, and some deserve second chances, and some will be truly remorseful, and look to change. This man didn’t care. He saw what he helped turn her into, and just kept it up with the pedal to the metal.

This is probably the first time that this man has faced even a sliver of truth and reality in his lifetime, and he cannot survive it. He’ll be dead ASAP.

by Anonymousreply 60April 24, 2018 1:19 AM

Where’s the human compassion here for an elderly man probably now dying himself from grief? In the end the most important thing we can give to one another is forgiveness.

by Anonymousreply 61April 24, 2018 1:29 AM

R62, I’ve been quite compassionate, all things considered.

Poppy? Compassionate? Not so much.

You really have no fucking clue who this man was, do you?

by Anonymousreply 62April 24, 2018 1:33 AM

I read about the reported suicide attempts as well, r60. It's no wonder Dubya was such a spoiled brat.

by Anonymousreply 63April 24, 2018 1:43 AM

Sure, he looks like a sweet old man now, but make no mistake, he was evil.

by Anonymousreply 64April 24, 2018 1:44 AM

Jesus, this place has been over-run by conservative trash.

Burn in Hell, George Bush. Burn in Hell.

by Anonymousreply 65April 24, 2018 1:45 AM

R61 Where's your fucking compassion for the gay men who died of AIDS during the Reagan-Bush era? Or the many killed in his bullshit war? Fuck you.

by Anonymousreply 66April 24, 2018 1:47 AM

R63, I’ve never read about that. I was just making an educated guess. I’ve seen this kind of shit go down before. I recognize the signs pretty well by now.

by Anonymousreply 67April 24, 2018 1:48 AM

Oops! I meant to sign off as R60, while addressing r63.

by Anonymousreply 68April 24, 2018 1:50 AM

So what did he do to his wife, R60 that you purport destroyed her? Philandering? That certainly wasn't unusual for politicians and the patrician class at the time, or even now. Discretion was the expectation. Leaving the family behind for extended periods of time for work-related business? Again, not unusual. Politicians wives stay behind in districts raising families. If there was a suicide attempt, might it have been related to losing a child to leukemia? Was he not supportive enough? Again, the standard of the era wasn't supportive husbands. I don't doubt he was involved in nefarious doings or ordering or signing off on hits as CIA director, but what did he do to Barbara?

by Anonymousreply 69April 24, 2018 1:51 AM

I think it was an excerpt from Kitty Kelly's book - someone excerpted it here on DL last week. Fascinting read, r60. Talks about Barbara debating on whether to drive her car into a tree then pullig over on the side of the road to calm down and get her emotions in check. Happened a few times.

by Anonymousreply 70April 24, 2018 1:54 AM

So you think that because it was widely practiced behavior, that it was OK with Barbara? She loved her husband, and it was not OK with Barbara.

And let’s be clear: he wasn’t just a regular, run of the mill philanderer. The man had no self control. If you had invited him and his wife over for dinner, he’d hit on your wife, your kids, and finally, you.

That’s the kind of guy he was. Discretion was not his forte when it came to his sexual pursuits.

by Anonymousreply 71April 24, 2018 1:58 AM

WHET Jennifer Fitzgerald? It's never too late for love.

by Anonymousreply 72April 24, 2018 1:58 AM

[quote] that he was a seriously fucked up CIA spook

For pity's sake, he was the director of the CIA for a whole YEAR. That's it. It was nothing more than a brief political appointment where he served as titular head. As a former member of congress he was what they needed to carry water to the hill to get their budget and other legislation passed. Exactly what do you think an untrained and inexperienced intelligence officer decides? If you can even consider him an intelligence officer. I always laugh when I read about his CIA tenure.

by Anonymousreply 74April 24, 2018 2:27 AM

by Anonymousreply 78April 24, 2018 3:12 AM

I was an adult when he was president. I remember it was no secret that the Bush Crime Family was heavily steeped in the drug trade and the futile War on Drugs. He was also a major figure in the annual Bohemian Grove rituals for many decades. They were both horrible people who cared more about money, prestige and power than human life. The way I see it two less despicable sociopaths on the planet.

by Anonymousreply 79April 24, 2018 3:28 AM

How much longer do we have to wait?

by Anonymousreply 80April 24, 2018 4:58 AM

Not gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent.

by Anonymousreply 81April 24, 2018 5:02 AM

R78 still believes that politicians and Republicans who are known criminals can be honorable and deserve respect.

R78 also still believes in the Easter Bunny.

R78 also has clear control issues and thinks s/he can dictate how a thread evolves.

R78 is the kind of dullard at a party who demands that certain topics not be discussed, and that chip dip cannot be used with celery.

R78 is sad.

by Anonymousreply 82April 24, 2018 7:08 AM

[quote]All we can hope is that history eventually paints him and his son and their whole orbit as the jackals they always were.

It won't. Truly vile presidents are ignored by history books and media, and in some cases their crimes just ignored for the sake of a Good Old American Success Story (T Roosevelt, for starters).

A lot of work goes into protecting the idea of the inherent nobility of the presidency, which is why Trump is getting away with literally hundreds of things he shouldn't be.

Trump can't get out of going to this funeral. So some unreal and uncomfortable moments are coming.

by Anonymousreply 86April 24, 2018 12:51 PM

Trump will be the President of the United States, having slayed the Goliath known as Jeb who was supposed to be the one attending said funeral after stepping off Air Force One. Trump will attend as a swaggering conqueror who took over the conservative movement. A man of such arrogance with a complete lack of humility and utter contempt for his enemies would have no problem attending that ceremony. Any uncomfortable moments would be on behalf of the Bushes.

by Anonymousreply 87April 24, 2018 1:09 PM

[quote]Trump can't get out of going to this funeral.

Oh, yes he will. Do you think for one moment that he is going to be in the same room as Bill and Hillary Clinton? He's attacked both relentlessly, as well as the entire Bush family. Bush 41 is famously a good friend of Clinton's not just through the shared weirdness of the Presidency, but through joint humanitarian efforts after the Tsunami. I don't know if it's true, but I read here on DL that HW requested Clinton as his eulogist (Bill is a fantastic speaker. As much as I would like to see this occur, it's never going to happen, if not from Trump's end with a soft kibosh, then the Clintons.

If you want to receive updates on his medical condition, go to the website for The New York Times. You'd rather this thread be three posts?

"He's sick!" "Okay, now he's a little better!" "Oops, he's worse again!"

by Anonymousreply 90April 24, 2018 2:17 PM

He was responsible for hiring or nominating some of the worst people in politics. I will start with Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld. Lee Atwater was his campaign manager. Nasty, nasty man. He put Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court. He made Dan Quayle VP. There's more...

by Anonymousreply 91April 24, 2018 2:18 PM

I don't think he was directly involved in the JFK assassination as some people do, but you have to admit that his "not knowing" where he was that day—just that he was "somewhere in Texas"—is shady as fuck.

He was probably just hyped up on a bunch of drugs at a whorehouse in Marfa, or something like that.

by Anonymousreply 92April 24, 2018 2:21 PM

Nixon died ten months to the day after Pat died. She June 22, 1993, he April 22, 1994. Seems like he came to appreciate her worth when it was too late.

by Anonymousreply 93April 24, 2018 3:11 PM

I believe Nixon always appreciated Pat. He was very much in love with her—infatuated even, from the moment they first met.

by Anonymousreply 94April 24, 2018 3:14 PM

Just as all the polarized players attended the inauguration they will all attend Bush’ funeral, including Trump. It’s in these moments that petty partisan and personal differences are put aside. It’s what makes America great.

by Anonymousreply 95April 24, 2018 3:37 PM

[quote]Trump can't get out of going to this funeral.

He's gotten out of everything else that protocol dictated he do, why wouldn't he be able to get out of this? Just send Melania again and have the Bushes release a quick statement saying that he wanted his friend Bill Clinton to do the eulogy and asked him years ago.

by Anonymousreply 96April 24, 2018 3:40 PM

Melania going in his stead to Barbara's funeral *was* protocol.

by Anonymousreply 97April 24, 2018 3:43 PM

Nixon proposed to Pat on their first date.

by Anonymousreply 98April 24, 2018 3:46 PM

Nixon used to drive Pat to dates with other guys before she agreed to date him—and he agreed because he wanted any excuse to be around her. He was head over heels.

by Anonymousreply 99April 24, 2018 3:48 PM

Fine, R97. Trump will follow protocol here because he "has" to. Just like all the other times he "had" to follow protocol.

I mean, it's not like he's refusing to hire people for important vacant positions, or refusing to open state dinners to the opposition party, or using his personal cell phone instead of the official phone provided, or turning a Boy Scout ceremony into a campaign rally, or talking to world leaders privately over the phone or off to the side in violation of international protocol, or consistently refusing press access to moments and events they should be at, or trying to affect stocks and business values through nasty tweets, or failing to acknowledge various holidays the White House usually acknowledges, or firing ambassadors without warning, or anything like that.

Nope, this guy is a total stickler for protocol, so you're right, he'll totally follow protocol this time. He has to! It's protocol!

by Anonymousreply 100April 24, 2018 3:55 PM

Why has this thread somehow become about the dating practices of the Nixons?

by Anonymousreply 101April 24, 2018 3:57 PM

I think Elaine Stritch's father died at the funeral of his wife, Elaine's mother.

by Anonymousreply 102April 24, 2018 4:02 PM

R100: My point is more that Trump will want to go just as a general "hahaha" to the Bushes. The Bush family are the ones who would have to break protocol by disinviting him—a decision they didn't have to make this last time around.

You really think an asshole like Trump isn't salivating at the chance to put another thumb in Jeb!'s eye?

by Anonymousreply 103April 24, 2018 4:02 PM

I never even made it to ICU.

by Anonymousreply 104April 24, 2018 4:08 PM

Honestly, I do not think Trump will go. I’d be surprised if he did.

He’s not the funeral type. Unless you can guarantee a few bimbos or hookers showing up, or you hold the funeral at a golf course, I can’t see him going.

by Anonymousreply 105April 24, 2018 5:01 PM

I posted before. Daddy Bush has his funeral details all spelled out. All former Presidents have to do it. And I swear I read about two weeks ago, that if he died before 2020, he wanted a private funeral. Not a State Funeral. I wish I could remember where I read that. It was before the Barbara was sick news.

by Anonymousreply 106April 24, 2018 5:04 PM

Trump will only venture out if he’s going to face an adoring crowd. So he will make up an excuse to miss this.

by Anonymousreply 107April 24, 2018 5:12 PM

I think some of you are underestimating Trump's capacity for pettiness and causing a stink.

by Anonymousreply 108April 24, 2018 5:13 PM

Nixon was fucking Bebe Rebozo, while Pat drank and occasionally fingered herself.

by Anonymousreply 109April 24, 2018 5:37 PM

People are complicated. GWHB wasn't truly evil, nor totally good. He did, however, after a distinguished sting in the military work his entire life in public service in a number of different roles, and I do believe he tried to make the best decisions possible as President, given the constraints of the office and the politics of the time. Like anyone in that seat, unintended consequences of even well-meaning actions (or inactions) loom large. History will judge whether he was a net positive or not, but personally, I don't think he rates in even the bottom half of all US presidents in venality or malice.

by Anonymousreply 110April 24, 2018 5:44 PM

R94, Nixon was a closeted homosexual. Pat was like his prize, and he treated her like shit.

Poppy Bush is SICKER than Bar was - it's just that he continues to go to the hospital over and over and keeps hanging on. He'll only die when none of their fixes work, which could be a couple of years.

by Anonymousreply 111April 24, 2018 5:58 PM

Nixon said BeBe was way tighter than Pat. And BeBe had a pristine asshole.

Barbie came from "money." End of. That was enough Georgie boy.

by Anonymousreply 114April 24, 2018 6:34 PM

Because Barbara had "breeding" and the correct gens for procreating correct children (LOL).

I think, as was always joked about, R113, that George is a wimp. He was attracted to a bossy woman who craved a wimp. It worked perfectly.

by Anonymousreply 115April 24, 2018 6:34 PM

Purses flew from his mouth.

by Anonymousreply 116April 24, 2018 6:38 PM

I don't think Trump can tell the Bushes who is doing the eulogy.

by Anonymousreply 117April 24, 2018 8:45 PM

Tick tock

by Anonymousreply 118April 24, 2018 9:15 PM

Nicole Wallace just said to spoke to someone this afternoon (a Bush) and they said he is improved today. Better than Sunday or Monday.

by Anonymousreply 119April 24, 2018 9:18 PM

Nicole Wallace should join Babs

by Anonymousreply 120April 24, 2018 9:20 PM

Barbara Pierce was directly descended from former President Franklin Pierce, so the family had breeding and connections. And her father was publishers of McCall's--at the time of her wedding to George HW Bush, one of America's preeminent magazines--so she came from more money than the Bushes did.

It was a dynastic marriage. Like Livia of the Claudians married off to Augustus of the Julians, or Katherine of Aragon married off to Henry VIII of England.

by Anonymousreply 121April 24, 2018 9:22 PM

Did Bar do anal?

by Anonymousreply 122April 24, 2018 9:47 PM

R122, Babs with that face, only as a top with strap on dildo!

by Anonymousreply 123April 24, 2018 10:03 PM

Bush Sr. is a strong mf'er. He approaches death's door every 2 years but somehow manages to keep holding on.

More proof that the good die young.

by Anonymousreply 124April 24, 2018 10:08 PM

He’s still alive and kicking. You fuckers predicting his death were wrong. He wants to live and if anybody has the heart to survive, it’s Poppy.

by Anonymousreply 125April 24, 2018 10:10 PM

Sad how the worst people exist the longest...

by Anonymousreply 126April 24, 2018 10:13 PM

Wrong. This is a case where one of the good guys hangs on for a long time.

by Anonymousreply 127April 24, 2018 10:14 PM

Takotsubo cardiomyopathy - you can literally die of a broken heart.

While his having one has often been a point of conjecture in the past, men often don't survive long after their wives die although it's usually more tied to their not being able to take care of themselves as well as their wives did.

by Anonymousreply 128April 24, 2018 10:14 PM

Something tells me George won’t have that problem. 😂

by Anonymousreply 129April 24, 2018 10:20 PM

I think r128 has hit the nail on the head on this one. he wakes up in the morning and only sees 'death" and Barb in a grave. After 72 or 73 years together, that has to be soul crushing. I remember Nancy Reagan sobbing over Ronald's casket.

by Anonymousreply 130April 24, 2018 10:24 PM

Who doesn't remember Nancy sobbing- she did it at 3 ceremonies. The acting job of her career, other than as the cock gobbler.

by Anonymousreply 131April 24, 2018 10:27 PM

That old bitch was a shitty actress to the end. Not a tear in her eye at R130.

by Anonymousreply 132April 24, 2018 10:28 PM

[QUOTE]he wakes up in the morning and only sees 'death" and Barb in a grave.

He doesn’t see her in a grave, you imbecile. Maybe that’s what Godless atheists like you envision, but George sees her smiling up in Heaven awaiting his arrival. She’s telling him to take his time and enjoy life with the family on earth—it’s his only chance, afterall. Meanwhile they’ll soon reunite and spend eternity together.

Is R8 for real?

by Anonymousreply 135April 24, 2018 10:37 PM

In his darkest moments, he still sees Barb six feet under. Fact. Inescapable and that is the source of his grief. He can fantasize all he wants but he has been separated. Even Stephen Hawking had no belief in a God or the afterlife.

by Anonymousreply 136April 24, 2018 10:37 PM

R133. Sure they will, Jan.

by Anonymousreply 137April 24, 2018 10:41 PM

[QUOTE]In his darkest moments, he still sees Barb six feet under. Fact. Inescapable and that is the source of his grief.

Nonsense. The source of his grief is being separated from someone with whom he spent 73 years. It’s completely natural. But that doesn’t mean it will break him. The source of his strength comes from his faith and his family. That’s why he’s lived a long, happy life surrounded by people who love him while you’ll die cold and alone in a room somewhere.

by Anonymousreply 138April 24, 2018 10:45 PM

I'll tell you what I see, R133: You surrounded by ugly Thomas Kinkade paintings.

Do simpletons like you just pretend the carlyle group never existed or that the Bush family isn't responsible for so much death and destruction? What a horrible God you must believe in who seems to be a reflection of apathetic assholes.

by Anonymousreply 139April 24, 2018 10:46 PM

Being in the ICU doesn't mean you are dying typically. It just means you'll get 1 nurse to 2 patients . Or you were the President of the US. Him being in a wheelchair might just be because he has degenerative joint disease from all those years playing football at Yale. He does look frail. Some people opt for hospice even if death isn't imminent. We're all just flawed human beings trying to make our way through the world.

by Anonymousreply 140April 24, 2018 10:48 PM

[QUOTE]Do simpletons like you just pretend the carlyle group never existed or that the Bush family isn't responsible for so much death and destruction?

I just looked at The Carlyle Group’s twitter feed and it appears to be a perfectly normal organization with philanthropic endeavors just like any other modern company. What in the devil are you rambling about?

R105 "He is not the funeral type." That statement reminds me of the following, when Trump announced to a crowd of supporters that he attended over a dozen funerals of those who lost their lives on 9/11.

"I attended the funeral services of friends, good people, people whom I knew and loved and who loved me. Sadly and tragically they lost their lives on 9/11." His words. Turns out he didn't know anyone who died on 9/11 and attended not even one funeral service.

He's not going to HW's funeral. And if he does attend, he will show up very briefly and then using his pre-planned exit-early plan, he'll leave. Without Melania of course, so it's not too obvious. This way he can take credit for going and avoid backlash for not attending.

by Anonymousreply 142April 24, 2018 10:56 PM

Do you nitwits actually think George and Barbara slept in the same room in the same bed??? George will be walking up to the same thing he woke up to a month ago = nothing.

by Anonymousreply 143April 24, 2018 11:27 PM

R141, the fact you had to look it up NOW, pretty much says everything about why you obsess over skyfairies. I'd save the condescension for when you don't look uneducated.

by Anonymousreply 144April 24, 2018 11:32 PM

Yes, I don’t know how I managed to miss those frequent DL discussions about the Carlyle Group.

by Anonymousreply 145April 24, 2018 11:40 PM

No, dear, there weren't discussion on DL. The Carlyle Groups is essentially a more polished "Blackwater." They profit off of warmongering. The people involved are a who's who of greed.

by Anonymousreply 147April 24, 2018 11:44 PM

R146, isn't it time for your Ambien and hot milk?

by Anonymousreply 148April 24, 2018 11:48 PM

Oh please, R148. You can do better than that. The attempt to sanitize these people and pretend they aren't responsible for so much carnage is just insulting to anyone with even a modicum of decency.

by Anonymousreply 149April 24, 2018 11:50 PM

How much did the second Iraq war cost, R148? Forget the cost in misery - the millions dead and injured, and the millions more displaced- because I'm sure, given that you're an Bush fan, that you don't care. Let's talk dollars here, because the men, the neo-conservatives allied to Israel and the military-industrial complex, later called "the Crazies" who George HW Bush let into the scene, like Darth Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, went on to sucker his son, George W., into that war. And this country will be paying for it for generations to come.

The Congressional Budget Office estimates $1.9 trillion, $6300 per US citizen. That's a very low estimate.

However, I would be more than happy if you paid my share, R148, even if it is in "Ambien and hot milk."

by Anonymousreply 150April 25, 2018 12:17 AM

Ooh, snap, R150!

by Anonymousreply 151April 25, 2018 5:25 AM

Barbara Bush was a collateral, not direct, descendant of 14th President Franklin Pierce. The Pierce's only surviving son Benjy was killed in a train accident en route to Washington for the Inauguration. The child's head was crushed and this put a pall on the Inaugural festivities.

by Anonymousreply 152April 25, 2018 3:58 PM

President Bush is out of intensive care and in a regular room. I think he wants to outlive Trump's Presidency pretty bad.

by Anonymousreply 153April 25, 2018 7:52 PM

He hasn't died YET? Ugh.

by Anonymousreply 154April 25, 2018 7:53 PM

Haha bitches. Poppy might outlive a few of you obese, lonely weaklings praying on his downfall.

[QUOTE]"President George H.W. Bush has been moved from the intensive care unit at Houston Methodist Hospital to a regular patient room and is expected to continue his recovery there for several more days," spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement. "He is alert and talking with hospital staff, family, and friends, and his doctors are very pleased with his progress."

by Anonymousreply 157April 25, 2018 11:14 PM

"I think he wants to outlive Trump's Presidency"

So do we all.

by Anonymousreply 158April 25, 2018 11:18 PM

So long as he didn't have other complications he has a chance of getting over the sepsis. If he has other competing health issues, then he probably won't.

by Anonymousreply 159April 26, 2018 1:39 AM

What about the broken hearts of Abu Ghraib prisoners, and all the millions of Iraqis who lost spouses, parents, and children due to this scumbag and his son?

Or the broken hearts of an entire city on 9/11- an incident that turned out "quite well" for the Bushes. Marvin was head of a firm that insured the World Trade Center buildings. News that cable networks and newspapers were too scared to report in print due to the Bush influence.

Or the broken hearts of impoverished New Orleans Katrina victims whom Bar Bush callously referred to as "scary".

Or the broken hearts of the terrified Iranian hostages who had their terror extended in 1980 because Bush negotiated with the mullahs to not release them under Carter's term?

Or the broken hearts of Central Americans in various countries due to Poppy Bush helping aid brutal right wing paramilitary governments to replace leftist leaders and get the drug trade growing?

Or the broken hearts of Af. Americans in the decaying inner cities in the 1980s due to that War on Drugs and the heroin and crack cocaine that devastated inner cities/society?

by Anonymousreply 160April 26, 2018 5:17 AM

by Anonymousreply 162April 26, 2018 10:25 AM

R160 I agree with you, but how was Marvin Bush helped by 9/11? Wouldn’t his company have taken an enormous financial hit?

by Anonymousreply 163April 27, 2018 1:44 AM

Barbara Bush held a tea once she was VP's wife and she did not invite Nancy Reagan. Nancy never intended to go but she was deeply insulted and supposedly wrote a scathing letter to Babs. It's said Babs had it framed and put in her office after drawing a sad face under Nancy' s signature.

by Anonymousreply 164April 27, 2018 10:41 AM

I remember hearing awful stories about her when she was First Lady. Bar had also invited some guests to a special WH luncheon when she was FLOTUS. They later shared that she had requested large donations upfront, which they found out was for the privilege of lunching with her and that the money didn't go to the charity they thought it was intended for.

by Anonymousreply 165April 28, 2018 4:24 AM

[quote]but how was Marvin Bush helped by 9/11?

It would perhaps be more appropriate to say that 9/11 was helped by Marvin Bush.

by Anonymousreply 166April 28, 2018 4:56 AM

The only satisfying thing about all this is the fact that Trump will go to his funeral. Poppy Bush and the rest of the Bush clan hate Trump with the passion of a thousand suns. That's why he's desperately clinging to life, he knows that when he finally kicks the bucket Trump will be there.

And you know Trump will go, he'll do it simply to gloat.

by Anonymousreply 167May 28, 2018 11:31 AM

*shrugs*

We all die eventually. He’s had a long and privileged life.

by Anonymousreply 168May 28, 2018 11:42 AM

And take every last member of his evil family with him.
