My mother, who wasn't even ill and was very active and engaged, got through his wake and funeral (Catholic), however from that point forward just decompensated in a big way - could not even look at the piles and piles of sympathy cards, flowers, barely ate, slept most of the afternoon and evening, and finally had a stroke on day 12. They had been married 60 years. My paternal grandparents died exactly one year to the day - same scenario. My grandfather died first, and my grandmother, who was healthy right up to that very day, lay down for a nap in the afternoon and never got up.

Or the broken hearts of the terrified Iranian hostages who had their terror extended in 1980 because Bush negotiated with the mullahs to not release them under Carter's term?

Or the broken hearts of Central Americans in various countries due to Poppy Bush helping aid brutal right wing paramilitary governments to replace leftist leaders and get the drug trade growing?

Barbara Bush held a tea once she was VP's wife and she did not invite Nancy Reagan. Nancy never intended to go but she was deeply insulted and supposedly wrote a scathing letter to Babs. It's said Babs had it framed and put in her office after drawing a sad face under Nancy' s signature.

I remember hearing awful stories about her when she was First Lady. Bar had also invited some guests to a special WH luncheon when she was FLOTUS. They later shared that she had requested large donations upfront, which they found out was for the privilege of lunching with her and that the money didn't go to the charity they thought it was intended for.
