She recorded some of her old Fleetwood Mac song for remixes, and her voice is much deeper now.

One of her backup singers is there next to woman doing makeup.

She sounds great, but: 1) people who sing all the time like that are so fucking annoying to be around, 2) she's got the coke sniffles and buck teeth 3) she has such a strange voice that it's surprising she ever found out she could sing.

4) No contemporary pop singer could pull pull that off today. Beyonce needs 150 people on stage to make it work.

For me, Stevie Nicks is one of those nondescript people I couldn't pick out of a lineup. She could walk in my door right now at any age--twenty-thirty-forty-sixty-whatever--and I'd have utterly no idea who she was. But once she opened her mouth and spoke or sung I would place her right away.

She's what I would call a "prosaic blonde" were I writing a novel.

Are you sure this is Robin doing her makeup? I thought Stevie’s makeup artist at the time was Liza Edwards and Robin was a speech therapist.

The backup singer is Lori Nicks, Stevie's longtime backup singer, close friend, and future sister in-law.

As some have mentioned, the makeup artist was Stevie's longtime best friend Robin Anderson, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 1981, not long after this was filmed.

The marriage ended in 1982 and Stevie was not allowed to see Matthew for many years in spite of her being his Godmother.

The album version is very different from this raw version. For the 1983 album version of Wild Heart, Nicks wrote an intro dedicated to Robin. She also changed the background instrumentals so that she would have full writing credit for the song instead of having to share those credits with Lindsay Buckingham and Richard Dashut, who wrote and produced the instrumentals for this demo version.

This impromptu performance was filmed at Annie Leibovitz's studio. The photos were for the September 1981 issue of Rolling Stone.
