Lynda Johnson Robb and Senator Chuck Robb & Luci Baines Johnson and Ian Turpin represented the Johnson Family

Tricia Nixon Cox and Edward Cox represented the Nixon Family

No Reagans No Carters

by Anonymousreply 59May 7, 2018 8:37 PM

I love Tricia Nixon!!! She seems so pert in old photos. If I had been alive I'd have dressed like her.

by Anonymousreply 1April 22, 2018 1:22 AM

I went to represent DL but I was removed when I became hysterical and tried to throw myself on the coffin.

by Anonymousreply 2April 22, 2018 1:23 AM

Threw yourself on the coffin? Puh-leese! Come clean - you were using it as a support to present hole!

by Anonymousreply 3April 22, 2018 1:28 AM

Cut or uncut.... were the funeral flowers?

by Anonymousreply 4April 22, 2018 1:56 AM

Carters are 90+ years old, and Reagans are dead.

by Anonymousreply 5April 22, 2018 1:59 AM

Jimmy Carter is ill and I believe so is Roslyn. I don't blame Amy for not necessarily going - Washington was unkind to her.

I am surprised that Michael Reagan didn't go. We know neither Ron Jr. or Patti give a fuck.

by Anonymousreply 6April 22, 2018 1:59 AM

Barb Bush was a massive cunt but thank he lord Trump didn't go out of respect for the Busin family. It would have been too much.

by Anonymousreply 7April 22, 2018 2:01 AM

[quote] I am surprised that Michael Reagan didn't go.

Michael Reagan is not popular with any Presidential family, past or present

by Anonymousreply 8April 22, 2018 2:01 AM

R8 Maybe so, just figured he was the only one left. I knew Patti and Ron were not really down with that stuff. Patti may have been willing to do it but probably burned too many bridges to be welcome.

by Anonymousreply 9April 22, 2018 2:04 AM

What no representative from the George Washington or John Adams family.

by Anonymousreply 10April 22, 2018 2:18 AM

Where the hell was Mamie Eisenhower?

by Anonymousreply 11April 22, 2018 2:23 AM

Julie and David Eisenhower would have killed two birds with one stone.

by Anonymousreply 12April 22, 2018 2:23 AM

Julie Nixon Eisenhower & Tricia Nixon Cox are no longer on speaking terms

by Anonymousreply 13April 22, 2018 2:25 AM

Were any NOLA hurricane survivors there? Babs was a gaping cunt.

by Anonymousreply 14April 22, 2018 2:28 AM

R13. How do you know and what caused the split?

by Anonymousreply 15April 22, 2018 2:28 AM

Tricia Nixon Cox's former daughter in law and Bill Clinton are well acquainted.

by Anonymousreply 16April 22, 2018 2:30 AM

R13 they had a falling out over the Nixon Library and which sister should have the final say on decisions.

by Anonymousreply 17April 22, 2018 2:31 AM

Barbara Bush didn't visit us when we were living at the Houston Astrodome. And bitch, it didn't work out all that well for us. So no, we wouldn't have any sympathy that she finally died. Good riddance.

by Anonymousreply 18April 22, 2018 2:31 AM

R15, They have been estranged for years over their father's legacy.

by Anonymousreply 19April 22, 2018 2:31 AM

Their fathers legacy has been shit since 1975 despite people trying to resurrect it.

by Anonymousreply 20April 22, 2018 2:33 AM

As my mother would say about fighting siblings, "Get along, you only have each other."

by Anonymousreply 21April 22, 2018 2:45 AM

R21, But she never met my older brother.

by Anonymousreply 22April 22, 2018 2:47 AM

The Carters are as said elderly so given a pass here, for not attending but someone from the Reagan clan should have stepped up. All the former presidential families sent reps to Nancy's funeral a few years ago.

by Anonymousreply 23April 22, 2018 2:52 AM

Do you go to the funerals of people you worked with 30 or 40 years ago? What the fuck?

by Anonymousreply 24April 22, 2018 2:52 AM

This isn't a typical funeral r24 she's a former FLOTUS, its tradition for all recent presidential families to send representation if possible.

Even Susan Ford made the trip in. Both of the Johnson daughters (although they live in TX I believe, so not a long distance to travel.)

by Anonymousreply 25April 22, 2018 2:54 AM

Why wasn't Patti Davis there? What else could she possibly have going on in her life? Bingo night at the Encino VFW?

by Anonymousreply 26April 22, 2018 2:57 AM

Jimmy carter was overseas and Mrs Carter is recovering from intestinal surgery. I thought Michael Reagan was in poor health as well.

by Anonymousreply 27April 22, 2018 3:02 AM

R26 Patti Davis wants nothing to do with politicians or their spouses.

by Anonymousreply 28April 22, 2018 3:03 AM

Yeah, someone should have gone to represent the Reagans. Bush was Ronnie's VP, after all.

by Anonymousreply 29April 22, 2018 3:03 AM

The Carters have several kids other than Amy.

by Anonymousreply 30April 22, 2018 3:05 AM

Barbara was related to President Franklin Pierce… so you could say there were representatives of the Pierce family there too...

by Anonymousreply 31April 22, 2018 3:06 AM

I can certainly understand that neither Patti or Ron would care to embrace Reagan’s legacy. Both of them have more sense than to care to do that. Still Bush Senior was their fathers employee and was loyal to the horrible old shit. Besides Barbara Bush shared at least Patti’s Very low regard for Nancy. LOL. Maybe that is really the issue!

by Anonymousreply 32April 22, 2018 3:15 AM

[quote] I can certainly understand that neither Patti or Ron would care to embrace Reagan’s legacy

Patti has hosted at least 3 book signings (her own) at the Reagan Library.

by Anonymousreply 33April 22, 2018 3:19 AM

Patti Davis is too busy counting all the money her mom left her. She has no time for Bar.

by Anonymousreply 34April 22, 2018 3:20 AM

R13, Julie's the pretty one, so she gets my vote.

by Anonymousreply 35April 22, 2018 3:24 AM

Were representatives from the Laden family there too?

They were close to the Bush family.

by Anonymousreply 36April 22, 2018 3:24 AM

I'm surprised that proud atheist Ron Reagan was a no-show.

by Anonymousreply 37April 22, 2018 3:31 AM

Michael Reagan is a little alt-right shit on Twitter so he was probably not wanted there. I'm surprised Patti didn't go, because for all of the complaining about politics, she still likes the spotlight.

by Anonymousreply 38April 22, 2018 3:31 AM

Can understand the Carter family not going, but Tacky Reagans

by Anonymousreply 39April 22, 2018 3:35 AM

R31, Barbara's second cousin (once removed) was Mildred Pierce.

by Anonymousreply 40April 22, 2018 3:37 AM

So what, who cares about any of this shit, especially considering how "dubya" and the Bush crime family stole both elections that slid him into the White House (and squandered the Clinton surplus) no more or less than how Putin shoved you-know-who in there. All this fuss about a privileged old bag who lived way beyond her time to go. America has definitely slipped in this day and age as John Kennedy might have put it.

by Anonymousreply 41April 22, 2018 3:50 AM

Poor Jackie, she died at 64 and all these other first ladies have lived into their 90's.

by Anonymousreply 42April 22, 2018 3:52 AM

I think Bill will outlive Hillary too

by Anonymousreply 43April 22, 2018 3:54 AM

Where was Mamie???

by Anonymousreply 44April 22, 2018 4:00 AM

[quote] I think Bill will outlive Hillary too

His longevity is staggering. Didn't he have a quadruple bypass?

by Anonymousreply 45April 22, 2018 4:00 AM

How many members of the Carlyle Group were there?

by Anonymousreply 46April 22, 2018 4:05 AM

Amy Carter disappeared from public life ever since the day her dad left office. I guess you could say the same thing about Patti Davis.

The Carters must be disappointed in how Amy turned out compared to other Presidential offspring. It doesn't say much for their parenting skills.

by Anonymousreply 47April 22, 2018 4:15 AM

Actually Jimmy Carter said he could attend because he was traveling outside the country. Roslyn had surgery recently.

by Anonymousreply 48April 22, 2018 4:25 AM

The Carters had other kids besides Amy--older sons.

But I give them a pass. A Reagan should have shown up because of the whole VP thing.

by Anonymousreply 49April 22, 2018 4:26 AM

R42, as they say, the good die young.

by Anonymousreply 50April 22, 2018 4:28 AM

Did the no shows have a choice? I got the feeling this was invitation only - a private service.

by Anonymousreply 51April 22, 2018 4:39 AM

r51, I am sure that if the King of Wakanda showed up, they would have found a place.

by Anonymousreply 52April 22, 2018 4:43 AM

[quote] Julie Nixon Eisenhower & Tricia Nixon Cox are no longer on speaking terms

Julie Nixon seemed very unimpressed in every photo of her nephew's marriage to the grocery heir.

by Anonymousreply 53April 23, 2018 5:55 PM

Not family, but I'd be very surprised if Reagan library officials were not there or invited.

by Anonymousreply 54April 23, 2018 5:56 PM

[quote] The Carters must be disappointed in how Amy turned out compared to other Presidential offspring. It doesn't say much for their parenting skills.

What are you talking about? Every one of Reagan's kids turned against him, save one, who turned out to be a right wing nutjob.

by Anonymousreply 55April 23, 2018 6:04 PM

No love lost between the Bushes and the Reagans, that's for sure.

by Anonymousreply 56April 23, 2018 6:06 PM

Amy turned out just fine! Illustrated her dad's kids book.

by Anonymousreply 57April 24, 2018 12:18 AM

Amy Carter withdrew from public life, but Jimmy Carter's son ran for the Senate in NV in 2006, and his grandson ran for GA gov. a few years ago (both lost). Those two are certainly public figures and could have represented the family as the former president was abroad and the first lady recovering from hospitalization.

Question is did they not offer or were they not welcomed?

Given the bad blood between the Reagans and the Bushes, no surprise about that.

by Anonymousreply 58April 24, 2018 2:11 AM

There were no Roosevelts or Trumans at the funeral.
