Gwyneth gave a lot of good even great performances in the 90s. Kate seems ignorant and really has never done much of value besides Almost Famous.

Hudson was drunk once on Andy Cohen's show. She was just so slutty and trashy. Some other interview I saw with her she kept trying to use big words but would have the wrong word in her sentence. I forget the specific words but it kept happening.

I like Gwyneth Paltrow a lot as an actress and I wish she would get herself some meaty roles like in Proof or Sylvia again because she was brilliant in those. Don't care for her Goop stuff.

I don't know anything about Hudson, is she an actress or a socialite? I have no idea.

Gwyneth was also very funny and even won an Emmy on Glee.

I also remember seeing Hudson in an interview while she was still with the Black Crowes guy. She was really overdoing the whole blissfully in love thing. They played a word association game and she only answered “husband” and “love” to everything in this annoying, airy voice.

Gwyneth is a tremendous actress and her Hollywood career would have been cast in gold if she had kept her real personality off camera and off the Internet. She is truly insufferable, and yet she was great in Ripley, Proof, Sylvia, Emma, The Royal Tenenbaums, Great Expectations, Shakespeare In Love. She has been one of the best parts of many wide-ranging, very good movies.

I think I’ve seen more Kate Hudson movies than I remember. The voodoo one is the only performance that stands out in my memory. Almost Famous is fine, but IMO overrated.

Overall, my impression is that Gwyneth is versatile and she has taken a lot of chances with a variety of challenging roles and she’s never fallen on her face in any of them aside from the failure of her actual personality, which counts as a major failure in my book.

Hudson, on the other hand, stands out as a competent, cute and quasi-charismatic actress who is serviceable in romantic comedies and who may have unmined dramatic potential. If she didn’t look so much like her mother, I doubt she would get any standout roles because she doesn’t stand out very much. She’s agreeable; Paltrow is polarizing.

Paltrow can actually act.

I think what is boils down to is that Paltrow is memorably much better (professionally) and much worse (personally), and Hudson is offensively unmemorable.

Actually, Gwyneth’s very name sort of encapsulates everything about her. It stands out from a sea of other fishes (Cate Blanchett, Kate Hudson, Kate Beckinsale, Kate Winslet), and yet its very existence is almost unbearably pretentious.

This is tough. They both lack talent and even their mothers are annoying. Hudson has a creepy baby mouth like Lens Dunham. -shudder-

However, there is no one more smug, humorless and self important than Paltrow in Hollywood. Even before the egg and vag steaming BS. She shares a thin-lipped smirk with her equally smug mother. I actually prefer the Kardashians to these two menopausal ghouls.

I'll go with Paltrow, she really disappears into a character and she has played a wide range of very different ones in them. I don't get Blanchett, she can be good but I never forget it's her, Tony Collette or Jacki Weaver are brilliant Australian actresses, Blanchett isn't.

R28 Really? I love Blanchett, but you’re right in that she brings herself into roles. She’s delicate looking amd yet every character balances being vulnerable and strong. I think she’s a different class of actress like Katharine Hepburn—it’s like you’re seeing different, interesting facets of the actress playing the role instead of purely different characters. Tilda Swinton is similar in that regard, although she’s more typecast, sort of like a British white version of Whoopi Goldberg; she’ll always be the exotic, potentially good or malevolent one with potentially mystical qualities...never, ever an adorable love interest of the sort Kate Hudson pretty much has to play in every movie.

I do agree that Gwyneth dissolves more into her roles. She’s also a bit plainer looking.

What has Kate Hudson been in beyond Almost Famous, that most people remember?

Kate Hudson is pretty much famous for being Goldie's daughter, and that she thought she had one of those 'Indigo' children.

And objectively, of the women that achieved A-list leading lady movie star status in the last 25 years, she's probably in the top three, talent wise. Flame away, but it's true. Not Julia Roberts, Sandra Bullock, Angelina Jolie or Jennifer Lawrence have her acting talent.

Doesn't Kate sell workout gear now? Kate by a mile. Let's face it, Danner did not have the pull or name recognition of Goldie Hawn. Everything Kate has is blatantly due to nepotism. Her movies are for half wits and she seems wrapped up in the fact that she's Kate Hudson and you're not.

There's a scene in The Killer Inside Me where Kate Hudson is on the floor and it is the most realistic and chilling things I've seen in a long time. Otherwise she's very annoying from a distance but of course I don't know how she really is. She appears to have daddy issues.

The late Jill Clayberg's daughter, Lily Rabe, is far more talented than either Goop or Hudson.

Goldie was a huge, much loved movie star. Kate has always had big shoes to fill.
