It means he was covering up sex scandals for Sean Hannity as well.

Because the "attorney" in questions covers up indiscretions. That’s literally all he’s known to do. It suggests that, at the very least, Hannity is wrapped up in Trump's shady businesses. This would taint his cheerleading. It also strongly suggests that Hannity paid off a mistress or two.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | April 16, 2018 7:13 PM |
R22 Cohen's only 2 other clients are Trump and Broidy, both of whom used him to pay off people. Clearly Hannity wanted to pay someone off too, probably a woman related to sex

But there's also the question of how Sean Hannity has covered the Cohen raid, and Cohen, no doubt leaking "deep state" nonsense, etc...no doubt never disclosing his "friendship" or client relationship with the fixer.
So there's a journalism issue as well.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | April 16, 2018 7:17 PM |
R41, in a normal world there's a journalism issue, but at Fox they don't give a shit about journalism.

answer: you can't
The New York City law firm Squire Patton Boggs provided an office to Michael Cohen, how dirty is this law firm?
[quote] Cohen, who was given an office on the firm’s 23rd floor at Rockefeller Center as part of a “strategic alliance” with his practice, kept a lock on his door. Hannity may very well have an NDA or something, but it's probably way more than that. They've been feeding Sean disinformation coming straight from Assange, which comes straight from Russia and Sean dutifully spits it out on the air. He also frequently meets with Trump in person.

Hmmm. Hannity says he just asked for an opinion when he needed a different perspective. So, seems to me is hannity asking for legal advice or just a lawyer's comments. When lawyers are interviewed about an opinion on a legal topic, that does not invoke privilege. So, to be privileged communication, Hannity had to be seeking personal legal advice about something.

Sorry but I am sure people are asking lawyers legal questions all the time, that doesn't make them a client, I will believe the person testifying in court under penalty of perjury.

Hannity has always been an asshole and not a friend to the gay community.
One of the first things he did while still in college is host a college radio show where Hannity told a lesbian caller, "I feel sorry for your child." His show had poor ratings, the college pulled the show. Hannity then placed an ad in radio publications presenting himself as "the most talked about college radio host in America. Conservatives put him on their shows which eventually lead to Fox News and the rest is history.
He's never done anything for society except spew hate for his entire life and getting very rich in the process.

[quote]Both Michael Cohen and Sean Hannity are liars, but Michael Cohen testified in court in front of a judge that Sean Hannity was one of his clients, Sean Hannity on his radio show where he probably lies every couple of minutes says he just got some free legal advise.
Keep in mind that this was in the context of materials seized from Cohen. If Hannity only asked for an occasional brief chat, there shouldn't have been anything seized that had anything to do with Hannity and, hence, no need to mention his name as a client.
by Anonymous | reply 255 | April 16, 2018 10:52 PM |
Right. The implication is there are communications between Cohen and Hannity in the material the FBI seized, and that they are arguing that those conversations should be privileged. At least that is how I took it.

I doubt this wasn’t planned. Hannity has been hanging with Trump & Cohen in maralago recently. “Listen, you can use my name as a client if you need it. I’ll deny it and we’ll obfuscate. It just might work if I say I gave you $10 for advice.”
No way did Cohen use Hannity’s name without Hannity knowing ahead of time.
by Anonymous | reply 259 | April 16, 2018 10:58 PM |
R259, what exactly would be the purpose of your scenario? I agree withR255, Hannity’s Communications are already in one of those boxes that were seized.

So... at what point does one of these doofuses ‘fall’ out of an apartment balcony or window?
I mean - who is likely to be the weakest link and spill the beans and/or be the most embarrassing to Putin and his various minions (including various American billionaires and GOP powerbrokers and politicians!)?
I know these people are stupid - but surely they wouldn’t have written down or emailed anything really, REALLY compromising. Surely the really dodgy stuff was face to face, conversation only...
Oh - wasn’t it reported than Cohen had some tapes lying around...?
My money is on Cohen to take the fall. Literally.

Someone else commented on a thread—if A lawyer has a conversation with a client with a third party there who is not not involved, then privilege does not apply. Trump and Hannity both can say they all had a conversation with Cohen their lawyer and if they’re all clients, the conversation is privileged. Any lawyers who can verify?

Also - Fox News - and Murdoch personally - will claim they knew nothing of this conflict of interest - they’ll be shocked - SHOCKED!
But surely this will mean Hannity will have to go?
Of course - he’s been claiming for ages he’s a proper ‘journalist’ - so if that’s the case he’s definitely got a conflict of interest amd has blown any journalistic ethics out of the water -
But what’s the bet now the claim is he’s just a humble entertainer? Journalist - nooooo! What would I know about any of that? I’m just a humble and loveable tv personality who gives his audience what they want... scumbag.

The biggest problem with this Sean Hannity/Michael Cohen connection is that the FBI warrant to search Michael Cohen's home, office and hotel room, had nothing to do with Sean Hannity, so anything discovered with that search warrant would be inadmissible, if I understand the law correctly. I am not a lawyer.
The good thing though is that this might make the FBI start looking into Sean Hannity. Considering how Sean has blasted the FBI lately, the FBI sure should want to find out any and everything about Sean Hannity.

R292 Evidence of illegal activity gets thrown out of court all the time, if it was obtained without a search warrant specifying that was the target of the warrant.
You might be thinking of Lawyer/client confidentiality, there is no confidentiality if it is to hide illegal activity.
by Anonymous | reply 293 | April 17, 2018 2:13 AM |
R293, the one thing that gets interesting, though, is the increased scrutiny that Hannity's affairs will now be subject to, both from a curious press and, potentially, the FBI or the police or the Justice Department. If they can find evidence not tied to or tainted by what they obtained from Cohen, it's game on.
I rather suspect that Hannity isn't nearly as nonchalant about all of this as he is pretending to be.
by Anonymous | reply 294 | April 17, 2018 2:16 AM |

Avennati and Jill Wine Banks are on Lawrence O'Donnell:
- Avennati said Cohen could have written Hannity's name and handed it to the judge and the judge could possibly agree not to divulge at this time. Cohen of course chose to blurt out Hannity's name like the terrible lawyer he is
- Jill Wine Banks said the reason they want to protect Hannity is likely related to Cohen and Hannity discussing Trump thru emails, recordings or some document. She said there's no reason to protect Hannity otherwise.
by Anonymous | reply 302 | April 17, 2018 2:24 AM |
[quote] [R293] you are right. Since there was a search warrant in this case would evidence be admissible?
Search warrants have to be rather specific in what they are looking for, you can't just ask for a warrant to go on a fishing expedition for evidence. I don't believe we know exactly what was in the search warrant so if they were looking for criminal activity between Cohen/Hannity it would be admissible. However if Hannity wasn't named in the warrant anything found would be inadmissible.
by Anonymous | reply 303 | April 17, 2018 2:28 AM |
I am worried that Michael Avennati is becoming too much of a public figure and too ready to jump in front of a microphone. I fear that the judge will put a gag order on all the attorneys to keep them from public comment. At some point all this will most likely end up in front of a jury and all his public appearances could be argued as tainting any future jury pool.
I love him on TV but I don't want any gag orders and I am afraid he is going to get one.
by Anonymous | reply 304 | April 17, 2018 2:31 AM |
R303 thanks, that’s actually what I was trying to say. If there was evidence of a crime, the evidence is admissible. So another question... Cohen and Hannity have a discussion about pumping up Trump on Hannity’s show. Russians are behind it in regards to Cohen, but it doesn’t come up in the conversation. Is that useable in the Mueller Russia investigation?
by Anonymous | reply 305 | April 17, 2018 2:32 AM |

[quote]- Jill Wine Banks said the reason they want to protect Hannity is likely related to Cohen and Hannity discussing Trump thru emails, recordings or some document. She said there's no reason to protect Hannity otherwise.
Avenatti speculated that the only reason Cohen had to disclose having a third client and his name, is because there are documents (emails, texts, tapes etc.) between Cohen and Hannity in what the FBI seized. Jill W-B speculated in turn that these documents won't have anything to do with Hannity as a client but will be related to Cheeto. Maybe something Hannity and Cohen discussed together regarding Cheeto, or coordinated Hannity propaganda. I can't dare hope it's about Wikileaks and Russians in Prague.
by Anonymous | reply 311 | April 17, 2018 2:41 AM |
disseminating propaganda is not illegal, everyone does it. It is free speech. Wikileaks is stolen information for the most part, stealing information is illegal. I think the reason Cohen had to revealed his list of clients was because he was trying to limit what the FBI could look at because of Attorney/Client confidentiality. To claim confidentiality he had to tell the court who his clients were.

by Anonymous | reply 319 | April 17, 2018 2:58 AM |
Yeah it all depends on what it said they were looking for in the original search warrant, if they find what they are looking for then it is admissible.
If they find evidence of illegal activity that wasn't listed in the search warrant, that evidence is inadmissible. They can start a new investigation, looking for illegal activity, they just can't use that evidence that was found in the original search. Now with a taint team, meaning one team looking at the evidence and then passing the admissible evidence to the prosecution team, I don't know how that works. I had never heard of a taint team until last week.
by Anonymous | reply 320 | April 17, 2018 3:01 AM |
[quote]The FBI can open a new case BUT they can't use evidence found of illegal activity not specified in the original search warrant.
They can create a new case based on evidence they might have stumbled upon on another case. There is nothing that prevents officials to refer evidence to another prosecutor to open a new case.
by Anonymous | reply 321 | April 17, 2018 3:02 AM |
And as much as Hannity may love Trump, he has been so vigorous and so consistent for so long you have to wonder if there isn't some secret side deal that Trump set up through Cohen to give Hannity something for his efforts. Maybe he has a free membership at Mar a Lago, or maybe he has a "good deal" on a condo at Trump tower. Or maybe he has a PR firm that is getting a retainer through Cohen. And if Hannity is part of the Russian cabal, he is over.
by Anonymous | reply 322 | April 17, 2018 3:03 AM |

I think Mueller/FBI new exactly what they were looking for with the search warrant. They went in and got some hard/physical evidence that will make their case undeniable.
I’m guessing it’s a complicated money laundering scheme with Russian Oligarchs. Trump, Cohen (and maybe Hannity) are involved in dirty money. The fact that Cohen paid $130k from a personal home equity account speaks to how mixed up all their finances are. I don’t think the search warrant would have been approved unless we are talking about much more than $130k. This will turn out to be a complex web of sketchy business deals and lots of cash. Also, Hannity rails 24/7 about the Clinton Foundation and money laundering. That raises my eyebrow.

That's what Hannity's ten bucks to Cohen was about. A token amount just to establish privilege.

My guess is that if the FBI has opened a criminal investigation month ago into Cohen's dealings, then they are also looking at Cohen's family and there are a lot of Russian Mafiya people getting a much closer look . The SDNY FBI, the FBI Counter Intel division, and separately, the State of NY AG are allll taking a long, hard look at that level of corruption, and if Trump or his kids are attached in any way, then Cohen is the "bridge," he is the proverbial smoking gun, that brings the Trump organization right into the orbit of racketeering statutes. RICO here we come! This type of investigation could go on for two or three years, even after we get rid of Trump. By the time they wrap it up it may ensnare Giuliani and other City of NY people.

In case you didn't know already, Roger Ailes came up with the idea for Fox News while working in the Nixon administration during Watergate. Specifically, that the Republican Party needed to establish its own 'news'/propaganda network because all the information breaking on the media about the GOP was making Republicans look bad. So anything Hannity or any other Fox News employee says or does is part of its mission to make the GOP look good and cover up it's criminal activities. Remember when it came out that they were behind the fake commenters on news and social media accounts, making their employees push propaganda in the guise of Average Jane and Joe commenters?

Avenatti’s tweeted he and Stormy Daniels will be on The View today and will be releasing a sketch of the man who allegedly threatened Daniels.

Avenatti sure knows how to play the PR game.
Not criticizing, he's very good at what he does.

I'm curious as to what you think Avenatti's angle is. I know he is enjoying all the misfortune visited on Trump and especially Michael Cohen. But he is also trying to be as famous as possible. Milking it even. So does anyone think he wants to be a regular media legal pundit on CNN? I mean. If they put Cary Lewandowski and Jeffrey Lord on TV they would surely look at hiring him. Or does he just want to become a celebrity lawyer so he can get better clientele than a porn star?
by Anonymous | reply 359 | April 17, 2018 3:09 PM |
R355, I think rather than "Who did Sean Hannity have sex with?" the more reasonable question is "Who would have sex with Sean Hannity?"

Trump is more disgusting than Sean Hannity and look at all his sex scandals r360. Wealthy men will never lack for sex partners.

Cohen pays off mistresses for his clients. So, assuming some pattern, who or what did Sean may have had sex with?

I want them to find evidence that will get Trump impeached. I am not sure affairs with porn stars will do the trick. The braindead Trump fan base will just write that off as "rich boys will be rich boys". I felt for sure there would be evidence of donor money being involved which will nail him.
by Anonymous | reply 366 | April 17, 2018 3:46 PM |

Yes and yes, and he deserves both, because he is fucking GOOD.

by Anonymous | reply 376 | April 17, 2018 4:58 PM |
I'm not "fretting" over Avenatti. Far from it. I was just curious to see what others though his ultimate goal was. Right now I'm delighted that a Porn Star and her lawyer are on TV practically every damned day embarrassing the shit out of Donald Trump our POTUS. When I think of what that must secretly do to Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, and some others who claim to embrace Trump it gives me joy! Because no matter how much they might say they are supporting the President on various issues, the Porn Star and her lawyer must be mortifying to these stalwarts of Congress who like to be taken seriously and are very grand in their posturing being Senators and all. LOLOL!

I wish Avenatti could represent the Sandy Hill parents in their case against Alex Jones.
PS - Jones and his Infowars got their big exposure after the TWA Flight 800 crash. Whenever there was an online forum or comments section anywhere that brought up TWA Flight 800 you would see posts saying, “You should check out the site of this cool guy, Alex Jones. He’s really plugged in. Knows all kinds of people, all kinds of things. He has the scoop on TWA 800. Knows lots of military people, lots of intelligence people. Check it out!”
I did and it was a lot of raving about sectors and tons of “accidents” in military sectors. It was a load of crap.

Donald is not embarrassed in the least. He is scared, though -- because if Stormy and her attorney can indeed prove their claims, it invalidates Trump's prenup with Melania.

R380 "I wish Avenatti could represent the Sandy Hill parents in their case against Alex Jones."
I've seen a couple stories about the parents. They want to stay as low profile as possible. That's part of the reason they're suing Alex Jones. It is also why it took so long for the story to become public.
by Anonymous | reply 382 | April 17, 2018 6:06 PM |
R381, he probably has a clause where she gets more money if he cheats, but it doesn't get invalidated. The guy cheated on his first wife and possibly on the second so he knows better than to leave himself open to having it invalidated.

Rupert Murdoch and his loathsome family have been waging war on America for decades by filling our country with one lie after another. Does anyone think these people give a shit what their anchors do? They're the scum of the fucking earth. They'll dump Sean only if they have to. Hopefully that is tonight, but I'm not holding my breath.
And never forget Jack Hanick, who worked with Sean and was big at Fox, left Fox to go start a news station in.....wait for it.....Russia.
by Anonymous | reply 398 | April 17, 2018 9:13 PM |
Isn't there maybe, a different angle we can go with this? (just thinking aloud here). Fox stands by and supports Hannity. No surprise! Hannity obviously broke all journalistic standards and ethics. DUH! But in situations like this when needing to "defend" his actions, he always speaks up by saying he's is NOT a journalist. He hosts an Opinion show, not a news show, (meaning: every lie he tells is covered by the First Amendment).
Therefore, is there some way of going after Fox? Maybe some smart lawyer could file a complaint against Fox with the FCC. They clearly telecast Hannity, Laura Ingraham , and Tucker Carlson during what is considered Cable Prime News Hours and always with the Fox NEWS Logo in the corner of the screen. So any viewer believes they are truly watching news and listening to facts, (again, obvious by the results of the election). Although not technically illegal, Fox is knowingly, deliberately, and in premeditated fashion, misinforming the American Public.
And before someone brings up The Fairness Doctrine, we no longer have it! Perhaps some kind of lawsuit against Fox and challenging their First Amendment rights, (by basically making the argument that they're in abuse of the First Amendment), could be a step in bringing back the Fairness Doctrine, (but amendment to take networks like Fox into consideration).

by Anonymous | reply 401 | April 17, 2018 10:43 PM |
Why would any of us care about Avenatti? He's in it for himself and for his client. It's not like he has a mission to take down Trump or that he has promised anything to anyone else. He plays the publicity and the Trump-trolling game very well and he's reasonably attractive. Why would any of this matter to me or to anyone else?
by Anonymous | reply 402 | April 17, 2018 11:02 PM |
Believe it or not, occasionally there are people who do the right thing for the right reason. Sometimes they benefit as a result.
On the other hand, everything Trump does if for himself, some hidden or not so hidden agenda. Therefore, he believes this is true about everybody else.

I just watched 3 minutes of Hannity tonight while channel surfing. He's double-downed. He was doing a nasty story about Comey, was castigating George Steffie about calling himself a "journalist" and then continued his tirade about "Fake News CNN".
I then switched to CNN. Don Lemon had a panel discussing Hannity which included Kirsten Powers, a former Fox contributor who I like and respect very much. They were all discussing how and why Fox is able to get away with what they do, but Kirstan mentioned, (although she flagrantly disagrees with Hannity), that she likes him and he's a nice guy. And Don Lemon had previously thanked Hannity when Hannity sent him flowers or something when his sister had died.
Even Michael Avenatti met Hannity for the first time at a NY industry shindig last week, was photographed, and mentioned he found Hannity likable and might be willing to go on his show.
So like, he's a really nice, friendly, personable guy off-camera, and a total lying scumbag when doing his show? What's the deal?
by Anonymous | reply 412 | April 18, 2018 6:15 AM |
I bet this cunt Hannity did get real estate advice from Cohen. It was probably some type of advice to hide assets from his wife. If I were her I'd hock some jewelry and privately hire a forensic accountant

fox won't get rid of him. They are probably so thankful that he cleaned up his own mess(es), unlike those shitbags l O'reilly and Ailles (sp?) who cost them many, many millions to keep all their mistakes quiet. And fox was willing to pay all many millions again and again and again
