It was freaky. I remember that thread, which has now long been deleted I believe.

There was a long, ongoing thread about this Canadian psycho right after he beheaded that poor Chinese man and then recorded it live. Then he started mailing severed body parts to different locations throughout Canada, and fled to Europe. There was one poster who kept making strange posts, defending Luka, and making it sound like he knew things about him. They were very freaky, and made it sound like it was Luka posting about himself.

As it would turn out, Luka was caught in Germany I think, googling news stories and writing on message boards that were discussing him. Weird times.

Didn’t he also post a video of him feeding live kittens to a python?

I wish I had taken a screenshot of his posts because that thread was deleted soon after.

That is how I found DL, OP. Another website said that his posts could be found in that thread some years back.

For awhile, some people believed that the EAR/ONS killer was posting on a thread dedicated to him, too, or somebody who knew him.

And I believe he signed his posts "M".

I wasn't on DL then but followed the story and I find him terrifying

During Magnotta's brief time on Datalounge, he posted on a Matt Bomer thread asking if people would be interested in seeing a video where the actor is stabbed and dismembered, and then asking later on if the actor was around town, and if so, if there was a list of his public appearances.

Yeah, I would say he was incredibly frightening and disturbing.

There's been another one here lately who really gives me the creeps. He posted that random medical pic of dudes with horrible facial deformities in the 'Brad Pitt is dating a professor' thread, amongst other things. Does anyone know if Canada would be letting him get online to visit us?

Around the time people kept turning up dead in water tanks, we had another really creepy poster whom I dubbed The Resident DL Serial Killer. I don't know if that was Magnotta, too, or someone else. I suspect it was someone else. But he was prolific and skin-crawlingly creepy. Hopefully, he's in prison now, too.

We've had our share of creepy posters over the years. I remember around 2009, 2010 there was a poster who used to say that he had developed a split personality since childhood. That one side of him was cheerful, and the other personality, which had a name that I forget, was mean and dangerous. Of course, a lot of people thought this was just another long-running DL Meme or EST, or meant as a joke, but sure enough I did trolldar one of his normal posts just for a laugh, and then a few days later came across him on another thread where he said he heard voices urging him to stab, and it didn't sound like much of a joke to me. I think he disappeared from here shortly after...

I don't think it was Magnotta, and I say that as someone who had followed that thread closely at the time and originally thought that it indeed was Magnotta.

This is all true, and it did seem like it was Magnotta himself. Those posts on DL were eerily similar to ones that had been posted on some other websites including YouTube, and law enforcement officials had originally said that they suspected the posts (the ones on YouTube and the other sites) were Magnotta himself posting. But in later news articles, law enforcement said they no longer thought it was Magnotta. Apparently, there was another sick person out there who was obsessed with Magnotta and was posting obsessively about him. I think the person posting on DL was the same one posting on the other sites, but not Magnotta himself.

No. "Trolldar" revealed that that post, and some of the other weird ones in the Magnotta thread, were posted by "Brandon," the same twisted guy who was posting in many other strange DL threads at the time, including a thread where he claimed to have deliberately let his friend's cat get loose and then found it hilarious when his friend sobbed over the cat's disappearance. "Brandon" was also posting in several threads about how he wanted to meet DL'ers in person and was trying to arrange meetups.

So, in the end, I think there were at least 2 weird posters in the Magnotta threads: one who seemed to be Magnotta himself but was probably just a sick person was also posting similar stuff on other sites, and "Brandon," a sick person who created several other creepy threads on DL.

I was posting on the Magnotta thread as it was happening and I believe the "fake Magnotta" was actually a law enforcement officer trying to bait Magnotta into engaging online. It was well known that Luka was obsessively posting on message board and following his own exploits via internet cafes while on the run.

After Magnotta was arrested the cop signed off from DL, thanking Datalounge posters for their cooperation. He/she didn't outright admit they were a cop but it was implicit in their post,

This may be true, and I remember thinking the same thing at the time. But I also remember "Trolldar-ing" one of the posts that seemed like it was from a cop baiting Magnotta and being surprised to find that it was posted by the same guy who wanted to dismember Matt Bomer, had let his friend's cat loose, and wanted to meet up with other DL'ers ("Brandon," who turned out to be from League City, Texas). For some reason DL won't let me see his full posting history—all it shows me are these two posts. But I clearly remember he had a lot more than that, and as I said, every single post he made just dripped with anger and involved a desire to commit graphic (sexual and non-sexual) violence towards females.

The reason I remember him so clearly was his posts reminded me of the time we had a genuine murderous lunatic (Magnotta) possibly posting on DL.

I thought he was the guy who kept posting versions of that story where he claimed as a child he put kittens in a garbage disposal, too. The story always changed so I don't think it was true. I heard from a credible source that says Luka did flee to France. It would be very interesting to know the relationship to the killer and the asian man. Perhaps the man killed was a friend of Luka, who was in the apartment when the killer showed up, Luka escaped, and the killer went into a beserk rage and took out his rage on Luka's friend.

Assuming that Luka did flee to France (which I think he did) it must have been out of fear. There must be photos of him leaving Canada at the airport. Where are these photos? Also in the the video the only visible part of the killer is a RING on his finger and his long black hair concealing his face (strange). The police need to find this killer before a new victim surfaces.

Something else being incorrectly reported is that the man in the video has sex with a corpse. WRONG. The sex in the video is SIMULATED. People are going nuts over this story.[/italic]

Again, another problem with the coverage of this crime. The news keeps reporting that the killer is a CANNIBAL and eats his victim. Why? The video does not show this at all. The video shows him cut off a piece with a fork and knife (for the dog). It's amazing that the actual facts of this case are not extreme enough for the media that they must distort the facts of this grisly murder. BTW, the killers hand is much too thin and bony to be the hand of a 29 year old.

It's odd that the police say a note was recovered and that it appears to be written by a lunatic. It's clear that whoever killed the asian man IS a LUNATIC. But reading Luka's interviews and blogs it is clear he is articulate and even composed when being provoked by interviewers. Not volatile.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I'm pointing out that he might not be the killer, it has not been established, and almost everything said about this case is wrong. For one, he is not gay he is by. 10% of the population is gay 35% is bi. My MAIN concern is that whoever did this is STILL out there! Another strange thing. Did you notice how LOOSELY the victim was tied while still alive? And, I found it strange that the victim's penis was not touched at all. In just about every mutilation case I can think of, they do a Lorena Bobbitt.

There is also no conclusive evidence that he actually performed intercourse on the corpse, aside from with the green bottle. He humped it, yes...but I saw no penis to anus intercourse on the video.

Geez.. I discovered another untrue distortion of this matter. Luka is being called a serial killer. Serial means MORE than one. Why must people make crap up? I have never seen a more horrific, disgusting video, yet that isn't enough to tittilate people? The need to embellish is twisted.

The only video images of Luka with cats shows him tickling them, petting them, kissing them.. People have gone to great lengths to try and connect him with those kitty killing videos.  Just because someone tells you something doesn't mean it is true. It is possible Luka DID kill those kittens, however, there is no credible evidence of it. Netflix has just this week released an excellent and very thought-provoking three-part series about Magnotta, 'Don't Fuck With Cats', told from the perspective of the internet community that tried to identify and track him down following the kitten killing videos (of which he made three, incidentally). I'd never heard of the case until watching the Netflix series this week, and now, coincidentally, this old thread had been bumped back to life.
