Well for someone who is by DL standards considered "dumb" Pitt has an incredibly successful career and has managed to navigate the industry quite well. I've never had on opinion on whether or not Pitt is dumb. I am, however, repeatedly on record as saying he's, personality-wise, dull; he's as exciting as watching a wall of paint dry.

For an old-school example of what I'm talking about google any image of Robert Taylor. I think most people would agree that he is as handsome, if not more handsome, than Clark Gable. But he lacks what Gable had in spades- excitement and charisma.
