I've been on a Cesar yt kick. He just married a 2nd wife 1-2 years ago. He must like them bosommy.

He pinged to be bc dude has thick makeup on his later shows, and gaudy fashion (bomber jackets etc) since he came into fortune. And he works those biceps out.

by Anonymousreply 1April 1, 2018 4:22 AM

He's a pig, pit bull apologist.

by Anonymousreply 2April 1, 2018 4:27 AM

The real sauce is which celebs' dogs he worked with quietly. Bet many A-listers have requested his help secretly. Jillian Michaels and her yappy chihuahua terror were on a cesar episode.

by Anonymousreply 3April 1, 2018 4:31 AM

R3 yes, and...

by Anonymousreply 4April 1, 2018 4:41 AM

He has to be Gay he must come from a very traditional family because there’s no way he’s not flaming.

by Anonymousreply 5April 1, 2018 4:47 AM

by Anonymousreply 8April 1, 2018 6:00 AM

Waaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiittt a minute, he's remarrying???

by Anonymousreply 9April 1, 2018 6:31 AM

I could have sworn someone posted an article to DL wherein he came out as gay. Said he was suicidal for a time after his fave dog died and his wife left him but he ultimately came to accept himself for who he is (gay) and that his son also was supportive or something.

by Anonymousreply 10April 1, 2018 6:58 AM

Too ugly to be gay

by Anonymousreply 11April 1, 2018 7:04 AM

I don’t blame dogs behavior on a trainer but a rich boss of mine hired him and the dog ended up biting someone. Huge lawsuit resulted

Pitbull apologists tend to recognize that it’s more about the owner than the dog but the problem is that 95% of dog owners are shitty dog owners and have incredibly poorly trained animals. And when the dog does show signs of aggression, they either don’t do anything about it or can’t afford to hire professional help for guidance. And even if they do get professional help Many of those people do not have the discipline to put the work in it is necessary to correct a problematic dog.

I work withpitbulls sometimes and they don’t scare me nor do they scare my vet friend. But I think they make terrible pets because their energy levels are insane. Who the fuck wants a dog that needs to be walked three hours a day to stay sane?

by Anonymousreply 12April 1, 2018 7:27 AM

His training methods are crap. The whole “be the alpha dog”, the dominance, and the shushing are stupid. It was probably a hit back in 1952.

by Anonymousreply 13April 1, 2018 9:56 AM

Love him. His methods work as long as the owner is also trained. Dominance, not cruelty, is the key especially with the bully breeds.

Seriously? I think he's adorable.

[quote] Pitbull apologists tend to recognize that it’s more about the owner than the dog but the problem is that 95% of dog owners are shitty dog owners and have incredibly poorly trained animals.

It s not more about the owner when it comes to pitbulls. It is about the genetic traits of the animal. Ignore this and you ignore science.

Plenty of dogs are poorly trained, other dogs are also high energy dogs that need a lot of work and exercise (German Shephers for instance), plenty of dogs also get abused, and dominance doesn't work when your pit is clamped onto to its prey's neck and refuses to listen to anyone including its owner or even C. Milan. And yet despite this no other dogs comes anywhere near close to the unprovoked attacks and injuries and deaths that are a regular occurrence with pits.

It IS the dog. It is NOT the owner. Perpetuating that myth only feed the public's mistaken belief that pits are acceptable pets. They aren't. The fact that pits CAN be affectionate at times, or evne most of the time, does not negate the risk that when they "turn on" with or without warning they become killing machines. No child is an experienced professional dog handler, nor are most adults, therefore these dogs should not be allowed anywhere near residential areas.

The only thing you can blame the owner about is not securing the pits carefully enough - though they are hard to contain and zero mistakes is a hard standard to achieve.

Until we can ban pits for good then pits showing aggression need to be put down. Period.

His training methods are not the stereotype. I've seen him switch it up with small dogs and other dogs. I used some of his techniques on my small dogs, and they worked. For one (I have two - got them after my first dog died of CRF) I could help my rescue to a certain point, but I'm not a dog, and it looked to me as if he needed another dog to show him what to do. I got another (small) dog and that's exactly what happened. My new small dog had no tolerance for my first dog's behavior, and my first dog shaped up fast. Millan is always about what dogs need to learn from other dogs, and he's also common sense. A lot of the people on his show are just obvious morons. When he's helping them, you see them pass normal dogs on the street, who have normal, common sense owners. With dogs you have to be in charge. Dominant means in charge. My dogs have always been yappy on the sidewalk when I first get them because they think patrolling the sidewalk is their job. It's not. When they figure out I'm responsible (use that instead of dominant - RESPONSIBLE) and I'll handle the sidewalk, they chill. Same for whoever comes in or out of the house. They're very happy to have me be responsible, but it takes reinforcing the routine and being consistent.

Anyway, I saw an interview with Cesar and his wife before the divorce. She described herself as the brains and him as the "talent." It was fairly insulting how she put it, and he made a joke of it. She was American, came from money, and was young when they met. He ran off when he realized she was underage, and she reconnected when she came of age. It just came across that she didn't respect him much, saw herself as the mastermind and him as the clay. She talked of Dog Whisperer as "our empire.". He was uncomfortable, and joked it off. Since the divorce, he refuses to do things she used to want, like market Dog Whisperer Water. I don't think he'll ever marry his girlfriend, Jahir. They've been engaged two years. She looks like him. He might like boobs, but if you said, "This is his younger sister." she could pass for it. Similar face.

His son Andre was estranged after the divorce but now both sons are in good relationships with him, maybe because each got TV deals when they reconciled with dad. Although the younger son never broke from him.

by Anonymousreply 17April 1, 2018 5:47 PM

It's DL...everyone is a little bit gay.

by Anonymousreply 18April 1, 2018 5:49 PM

I also think Millan still has women problems - he doesn't trust them. Early in Dog Whisperer he used to say that women were the only species that made decisions on emotion, instead of psychology or being rational. Meantime he had as clients all kinds of men who had emotional issues with their dogs or emotional issues period, while the wife or female in the equation was the only one with sense. When it was a woman having a hang-up, it was because she was a woman. When it was a man, it was just the individual. Even with Jahir, he mentioned something about the dressing area that was hers in the house. I think at heart he believes they are untrustworthy, money-grubbing on the one hand, and on the other he pretends they're emotional and can't see reason. He's eased up, and the fact is all of his team, including producers, are women, but I doubt he's gonna marry one again.

Is anyone using Cesar’s methods? What kind of dogs do you have?

I’ve owned German Shepherds most of my life and I’ve always used positive reinforcement to train them. Never had any problems. There are no crates, prong collars or any other gadgets in my house.

Some dog owners are not responsible and don’t want to spend any time training and exercising their dogs. They should get aquariums instead.

by Anonymousreply 20April 1, 2018 5:58 PM

Cesar uses positive reinforcement as well, but he doesn't mind saying "no." There are dogs that have been on his show in extreme circumstances, owned by a moron who thought it would be cool to have a wolf cross in an apartment, or someone who is afraid of their chihuahua. People just adopt a dog they think is cute or cool, and have no idea how to handle it. Also there are SO many people in my neighborhood, otherwise dog savvy, who don't care how their dog behaves on the leash. All the big dogs in my neighborhood are very obedient on the leash, all the small dogs act like they're pulling a sled. I make sure my small dogs are obedient on the leash. It just takes practice. I've learned dogs want to be on the leash, particularly small dogs; it makes them feel secure. They also prefer to smell stuff, check things out, and get their exercise without worrying about what's coming around the corner, and the sooner they learn their human will handle anything that comes along and they don't have to, the happier they're going to be. But people think their dog's anxiety is funny, or a little dog who likes to be bossy is cute. I don't like my dogs to be anxious, or thinking they have to prove they're a big shot. They are much much happier with the person in charge.

by Anonymousreply 21April 1, 2018 8:44 PM

O! me! I have a Cesar Millan failure dog. He wasn't able to help my dog when he was my foster. I don't actually blame Millan, my dog has seen innumerable trainers from around the world, my dog is still a beast. Time and patience seem to be the only things that help him.

Anyway, Millan is a RAGING misogynist and takes financial advantage of any rescue he works with. And by works with I mean, he makes them run in circles, they do all the work, he sweeps in for publicity and gets any and all monies. Rescues aren't allowed to have any of the photos or videos their dogs were used for publicity for.

He's helped a lot of dogs. He's not god though and I immediately distrust any idea that thinks he is.

I stupidly employed his practice of holding down a misbehaving dog to enforce my being the 'alpha' in the relationship. All it accomplished was damage to our relationship: to this very day, my precious love no longer trusts me when I approach her to pet her while she is resting on her side.

I heard his wife and manager screwed him over hard in the divorce, but that's his version.

BTW does everyone else sing that Tammy Wynette song in their head when they have to spell the word 'divorce'?

Milan is right about recognizing that dogs train other dogs the best. Which is why puppies should be left in the litter for longer than the typical 8 weeks. I know people want their cute puppies as soon as possible but even keeping a dog with the mother 1 week or 2 weeks longer is a huge help for puppies learning to be less "bitey" and less bullying. I have seen mothers spot a bully in the litter and discipline it. Other dogs kmow what to do with puppies - toelrating some puppy behavoir but scaring it out of undesirable behavior. Have you ever seen a big German Shepherd carefully but imposingly show those teeth to a puppy and pin it by the neck - all without harming the puppy? And do it repeatedly patiently until the puppy gets it. It's amazing to watch mother nature at work.

by Anonymousreply 25April 1, 2018 9:26 PM

Agree with R25. Our pup failed Phase I of her "Puppy Training" course, twice. She was so rambunctious, so extroverted in her desire to play and make new friends, to the extent of annoying some of the other pups and their space/boundaries.

One day one of the larger pups snapped at her, tackled her, and 'corrected' her by 'nipping' her on her neck. She immediately rolled over, exposing her belly to the larger pup to demonstrate she'd been 'corrected,' and became more submissive because of it.
