I thought he was off-the-air on account of NBC's nonstop (zzzz) coverage of the Winter Olympics, and all of the other semipro / pro sports that pay the bills there?

Isn't he paid somewhere between $12-$15 million dollars a year to do his show? He needs to stand up. But I do like him.

I think the Olympics and those sports tournaments displaced him. It also doesn't help that The Voice and the other shows (like Fallon) have to have their fill too.

R4 Seth tried standing when he first got his late night show. He decided he was more comfortable starting the show seated just like when he was on SNL's Weekend Update.

He doesn't take more vacation time than anyone else. He was off a week in January because he hosted the Golden Globes.

None of the late night hosts will ever take as much time off as Carson because they don't want to have guest hosts.
