why do gay men like femme women more than masc?
Not sexually (unless you are more bi/pan than gay), but in general. There is a certain culture of female idols and female celebrities gay men adore, and all of those women are very feminine. Where was the last time a gay man said Michelle Rodriguez or Charlize Theron were beautiful and charming? (Okay, Charlize *is* beautiful but what I mean is that she always looks like she could kick ass).
Gay men are attracted to masculinity, right? Wouldn't it be logical that a beautiful, most appealing woman for a gay man would be someone more masculine in presentation? Or perhaps someone androgynous like Tilda Swinton?

Yeah no.. you got it twisted. Most gay men who idolize femme women are gender non-conforming themselves. They emulate femme behavior as a model for themselves personally, not for sexual partners (in which case, exotic becomes erotic). It has been long documented in social science that the more feminine a woman views herself, the more masculine a partner she prefers (the reverse is also true). This is a behavior set by female role models in media that gay men emulate. BUT blah blah everybody is different and has their own prefences regardless of studies.

Maybe femme guys relate to feminine women. Being attracted to masculinity sexually might be irrelevant if you're not into women that way.

I prefer masculine women. Ellen Ripley is a beloved hero in the gay community, no?

That character wasn't completely masculine. She was a badass, but there was a femininity about her.

I'm curious though, there is a certain type of bi guy who is mostly into men but also likes women from time to time, are those women mostly masc or fem?

R8 As in androgynous? Kind of like in-between?

Like asexual, because these guys aren’t interested in them, R9. They have very little sex or any at all. The guys will be cruising for sex from guys, however.

Yeah, just a woman who doesn’t expect sex. It doesn’t matter what she looks like.

I think gay men idolize strong powerful women and divas. Why are we obsessed with bitches like Joan Crawford? She was never femme.

The answer is pretty obvious: feminine women are generally seen as possible mothers, while masculine men are generally seen as prospective fathers. It’s all about survival of the species, regardless of gender or sexuality.

OP, you numpty. Among the biggest female icons in the gay culture are ball-busting swaggering women à la Crawford and Davis. Even the femme icons are beloved for their combination of grit + toughness + vulnerability/sweetness.

R15 They are flamboyantly bitchy and very glamorous, it's still fem, not masc. Including their looks.

Um, no, OP, because gay male "attraction" to women is not based on sexual desire, and thus does not obey gay male attraction to men. La fin.

I'm gay but have mostly male friends and don't like women that much. Most of my gay and bi friends also prefer the company and friendship of other men. I wonder if millennials are like that?
I hate divas and never care for female friends and most guys I know only like women if they're bi or want to fuck them. Yet I'm not as half of a women hater as the diva lovers around here...

R19 That's my experience as well. There are a few women in these boys clubs but they are either some bi dude's girlfriend or just sort of tomboyish. Sharing hobbies or work with their male friends.

I wonder if more femme/diva lovers tend to hate women because they see them as competition as opposed to the masculine gays and bi dudes.

I see our resident alcoholic, self-loathing lesbian, autism/trans troll has found a somewhat new topic to mine. Don't mind me, OP, I'm just grateful this one isn't about autism.

(R10) (R11) (R12) So when an actor is gay, married a person of the opposite sex and have children through surrogacy (most of the time) it means that they don't have a "wedded life", no sex or very little, but how these women can accept that situation, mostly when she are straight ? What is the interest of that way of life ?

No.

R17 - OP clearly states he thinks gay men have an attraction to very feminine women. R15 has provided examples of women who can't be classified as very feminine.
I'd add to the list many Broadway divas that can't be considered very feminine.
That said OP is trolling for something. I don't know what

I've read on another thread that "gay men marry and date women all the time" (R24) : can you explain that ambiguity ?
