I'm not surprised , and in fact I when the #MeToo movement started I figured if he and David Carradine were still alive they would have been part of the reckoning .
A good-looking (before his 40's), hung, manic-depressive who was extremely extroverted...... yeah, he was going to have some serious demons to share.

Of course, you left out the part where she said she wasn't offended by it. But hey, the guy's dead and can't defend himself. Apparently it's cool to slime the dead these days!
And before anyone starts, I don't think his behaviour was okay and I hope he modified it later on.

R1 has it. It's not surprising but still a little sad.

Aw, shaddup, r2. Would you want some creep doing that to your daughter?

I remember when the show first aired. He was an overnight sensation. He was definitely the Star of the show. I found her casting odd, as she was so blah and never was as popular as him. But I think that is the way he wanted it, to be the Star. So, of course she had to be OK with it. I'm not surprised either, and I never thought he was good looking. I can't help wonder if that was his way of making sure she knew her place. All those young male really popular comics in the mid to late 70s seem to have had problems with female comics. As in SNL.

Comedies and shows work best when an over the top character can play off a "straight" (aka rather bland and regular) character. It makes the over the top character come off as that much more over the top.

If she didn’t mind, she didn’t mind. I’m not going to get all offended over something that happened what - 35 years ago? - if the object of the behavior isn’t.
I’m a woman, and have been on the receiving end of all kinds of behavior that would be objectionable on paper, as Pam says, but some of it was okay. It depends on the intent of the person doing it, and my relationship with them.

Not so hung, R1, or didn't you see The Fisher King?

He must have been very coked up to harass an old lady like that.

Agh, Louis B. Mayer used to grab my snatch every time he saw me. Get over it, Pollyannas!

I think her character was supposed to be very "average girl next door". That was a big thing back then. There was no complexity in characters. You had to fit a prescribed cartoonish stereotype. For women there was a lot of black and white casting of girl next door vs. sex-pot/vixen/bad girl:
Maryanne and Ginger
Janet and Chrissy
Barbara and Julie

Growing up I loathed "Mork and Mindy." There are a few movies I liked with Robin Williams, and those were mostly dramas. I hated his stand-up stuff. Way too manic. This behavior does not surprise me, though. Of course, it was a different time where men could get away with it. Thankfully that bullshit behavior is changing (hopefully) and people from the past are being called out on it.

Robin was the guy who also made them employ homeless people. STFU and leave him alone.

I and with r13. I never cared for Mork, but loved Mindy! I am turned off by comedy of dumbness. Chrissy in Three's Company. Stupid woman and stupid men ala Diane Keaton in Baby Boomer, the men in Three Men & a Baby with the premise they have missed out are the rudiments of diaper changing. Other actors have such as Adam Sandler & Will Ferrell can fall into this as well.

She was not offended because Robin Williams was very gay. He was a mime in San Francisco in the 70s, for God's sake. Major gay face, as well. I bet he was hot and hairy in his 20s.
On a side note, Pam lost the costars of both of her big series to tragic circumstances; Rebbeca Shaefer ("My SIster Sam") to murder and Robin Williams to suicide.

Also depends on the environment where the behaviour is happening. I worked for a travelling carnival at age 20, where I did things to guys and had things done to me by guys that, in a corporate environment, would have resulted in immediate disciplinary action! 😸

R7 has the best perspective on this. Not really sure why this is even being discussed considering it was 35 years ago and the man is dead.

Was what he did odd and sort of creepy? Yes. Was it sexual assault/rape? No. It sounds like he was just being a coked up Robin Williams trying to get a laugh put of people. Doesn't sound like any of the behavior she described was sexual or predatory in any way.
And it sounds like she is aware of that, and is reasonable about it. She also comes from an era when feminism was about giving women power and agency, and not infantilizing them and treating them like hothouse flowers.
Some of you really need to get a grip.

Good point, R21. I came of age when women had to prove themselves equal in the workplace....formerly mostly the domain of a men. Many of us had to adopt a tough as nails persona and act like we could "hang" with the big boys. Part of that was developing a sense of humor (or pretending to) about all the gross and ridiculous shit men did and said to us daily.
