And when I studied Italian (here in US) I learned that Sicilian is considered a separate though closely related language, and not just a dialect of Italian. I've honestly never met anyone who doesn't like someone (physically/romantically) because of the color of their skin. It always comes down to a person's features. Some like black men with more European features, but will stay away with a black man with a broad nose and fuller lips. I’m among the third generation of my Italian-American family to be born in the US and I consider my race to be white, but I am culturally different than WASPy whites. Part of the reason Italian-Americans distance ourselves is because Italians were treated poorly by the other European-Americans who arrived in the US before they arrived. Italian-American here who grew up in Connecticut, and Italian-Americans in CT are basically just like every other group of white people. When I moved to NYC I was exposed to the "guido" Italians from the boroughs, Long Island and New Jersey for the first time and it was quite a culture shock. They were like an alien species. After reading this thread it seems like the OP's unstated thesis is that if your family didn't get here through either Jamestown or the Mayflower, you're not white but white-adjacent. If your family got here through Ellis Island then you are definitely white-adjacent, unless your group was white-annexed.

If his last name is "Fairchild" and he worships at the Methodist Church, then he can be white. But if his last name ends with a vowel and he bows down before the Pope, he is not white.

Whiteness can be determined by a slight change in one gene. It's so subtle. Be assured that anything brown is closer to ape then human. Brown equals warm climate where evolution stagnates or even goes backwards. How can someone with brown ape eyes claim to be fully human.
