I ordered a box of Korean snacks because I was in the mood for something different. I've really enjoyed the noodles and mochi. These Tteokbokki chips are my favorite so far. They're sweet and spicy like my men.
I love Chinese sweet/salty dried preserved plums, li hing mui.

Korean rice krispies; they're the size of a saucer.

IndoMie brand ramen, the hot and spicy variety is really good. White Rabbit candy from China- original or matcha flavored.

What a great thread.
I am so stoned.

R2 Yeah, I love Indian junk food. I like a mixed variety (with random bits and raisins) and spicy noodles (I think they are called bhujia). I mix those two snacks together: so good.
Not very exotic, but my favourite snacks have always been Coffee Crisp and All Dressed Chips (both Canadian). I also used to love Ketchup chips -- another Canadian delicacy -- when I was kid, but not a big fan now. I believe All Dressed chips are available in the U.S. now though.

OP, where did you buy those? The dukboki chips...
by Anonymous | reply 12 | March 9, 2018 6:09 AM |
They came in a box of Asian snacks. The chips by themselves are available on Amazon.

I used to stuff the fridge with Vitasoy and Pokki.

I don't know what it's called, but it's some kind of Japanese salted seaweed snack that has a chewy texture. It came in a small cardboard box just a bit bigger than a small box of raisins. It may have been kombu but it was kind of thick. It was also broken into small pieces.

I like digestive cookies and now they have the thin version in different flavors. So good with a cup of tea or coffee

What is Pokki and why does it need to be refrigerated?
by Anonymous | reply 20 | March 9, 2018 7:27 AM |
R20 Oh, my bad. I mean Pocky, the coated biscuit sticks.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | March 9, 2018 8:40 AM |
Oh, I thought you were talking about fish. Pocky doesn't need refrigeration.

I take the kids to a supermarket in Chinatown and load up on the exotic snacks. I love the seasoned seaweed snacks. We usually stock up on different flavors of ramen noodles, Pocky and gummy candies. They love the ramune flavor.
And we’ve taken to making our own bubble tea. I’ve gotten pretty good at it. The secret is to boil the tea with extra tapioca starch so that it’s thick, the way they make it in the shops. A bag of the boba pearls is $2, a medium drink in the shop is around $5-$6.

I hated the melon flavored Milkis drink. I thought I could handle it but the more I drank the worse it tasted.

WTF, boba shops don't brew the tea with tapioca starch. The tapioca is in the boba balls.

In Canada, there's a brand of prepared Indian foods called "Spice it Up" (all frozen, as far as I know). The products are really tasty.
For snacks, they have two types of pakora that can be heated fairly quickly in a toaster oven. I always enjoy those (though they do make the house rather, uh, fragrant for at least a day).

For some reason my brother gave me Saudi fig cookies and Lebanese mixed nuts for Christmas. The cookies are meh and not as good as a Fig Newton, a cookie that I loathe. I’m hesitant to try the nuts since I might not like them either.

Best potato chips ever: Bret’s olive flavored. Had them years ago in France. When I went back a few years later, they were non existent.
