You ever hear "you have gay face" or "she looks like a lesbian" what about bisexuals?
You don’t have to look for signs they’ll tell you then expect applause.

And when they tell you, you'll think: "Yeah, I remember when I had my first cock."

r1 Only if they're female. Bi men are scared shitless that anyone will think they're less than 100% straight.

Intense or avoidant (compared to straight excited or bland, gay horny or shy).
A bi guy will be usually, generally visually more interested in other guys than gays that have have more timid folk involved), but whether they'll act further on it or let the public know about it is another story.
If they're with a woman, that woman has accepted that his jumps of intensity for other men will stay as long as he stays with her. If they're with a man, that man has accepted that his intense magnetism will often will draw in women. Women are more afraid of losing the sexual exclusivity and men are more afraid of losing the romantic exclusivity.
Bi guys would like to be considered effectively straight, but the homosexual wants affect them nonetheless. Reactions range anywhere from burying it like a closeted gay guy, to being really out and open about it and bring truly equally accepting of the idea of staying with another man. Regardless, they look around themselves and see plenty of sexual opportunity (thus the 'intensity'?; are they more sexually-socially charged by environment by more default?) - romantic and commitment is another matter.
This is all my stupid Datalounge guessing, don't take it seriously.

Men who claim to be bisexual tend to have both masculine and feminine features. They can be rather vain and flamboyant. They also don't try to make their voice sound like a woman.

I asked a similar question recently. There was a thread on DL about some new face recognition software that could detect gay men or something like that. So I asked how does this software tell if someone is bi.

Bowie later revealed he was always straight and only pretended to be bi for publicity. The idea was his wife Angie's. Smart move.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | March 4, 2018 4:07 PM |
r31, or maybe he really was bi and then he went back in the closet, kind of like Robert Downey Jr.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | March 4, 2018 4:10 PM |
r32 Possible, but let's face it, highly unlikely. Bowie never gave two fucks what people thought of him and he may have pursued a bigger audience in the 80s but his musical output from the 1990s onwards was as self-consciously weird and progressive as ever, so it's not like he was courting middle America or anything.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | March 4, 2018 4:14 PM |
r33, who would come out as bi for publicity? It limits your audience, that's why almost all gay/bi stars are in the closet. I think he went back in the closet after he got married, he didn't want people to think he was cheating on his wife with guys.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | March 4, 2018 4:25 PM |
[quote]No such thing as bi face because no such thing.
Are you youngish or something? (Says the 57 yo gay dude.) As collective misunderstandings go, this one started going by the wayside years ago -- and if you're on the planet long enough and make enough friends, you should have decidedly learned otherwise. And yes, I've met some "bi until graduation" folks and no, they certainly don't represent all the bi folks on the planet.
Soundbite wisdom: Bi folks are people, which means that you can't make a list of your five fave untested assumptions and apply them to everyone. (I know, I'm on DL, but still.)
And, as much as I love me some Bowie, I've long been pissed at him for his dumbass "bi for publicity/branding" narrative. I think he was just worried about the mainstream market value of his music catalog, and bi wasn't testing well with flyovers or something.

[quote]who would come out as bi for publicity? It limits your audience
Not in Bowie's case. He tried to make it in the music business for 10 years before he "came out" as bi. After that he became a huge star, largely due to the publicity he received after the announcement and his adopting the Ziggy Stardust persona. He never denied being bisexual because of his marriage to Iman because he denied his bisexuality years before he met her.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | March 4, 2018 7:29 PM |
Bisexuality does exist in males, but it's rare. Anyone under 30 claiming to be bi, is just taking a step out of the closet to coming to terms with their disgust for vage.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | March 4, 2018 7:41 PM |
Also, the general figure that results from polls is usually between 1% and 3% of the population, but in the vast majority of cases that accounts for respondents who identify as either lesbian, gay or bisexual. They group them together. So even at the top end, 3% of the population accounts for all LGB, not just gay people.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | March 4, 2018 7:44 PM |
R36 were you around in the 70's? He didn't get 'huge publicity' for coming out as bi, most people hardly noticed. People noticed he was a bit camp, and wore make up, etc, but the interview had little to do with it. In any case, Britain was very homophobic then. It was the opposite to a smart move, because it affected his marketing in America as he himself noted later on. He denied his bisexuality in the early 80's when he wanted to make big money with Lets dance, though he claimed he was experimenting when he was younger and just moved over to preferring women. Incidentally he was in a serious relationship with preop transexual Romy Haag in Berlin in Berlin and was told he had to keep it secret by his record company.

[quote]He didn't get 'huge publicity' for coming out as bi, most people hardly noticed.
You're kidding, right?
[quote]If the gesture was meant to shock Bowie's waning career back to life, it worked. The press had a feeding frenzy and kids raced into the store to buy Hunky Dory. "Changes" hit the Billboard charts in the US and "Starman", released in April of '72, would go Top 10 in the UK. That summer Bowie would release Ziggy Stardust, a UK Top 5 album that still sits near the top of critics' lists of best all-time rock albums. And in September he'd release "John, I'm Only Dancing", a single with such homosexual overtones it was judged too risque for release in America.

"He never denied being bisexual because of his marriage to Iman because he denied his bisexuality years before he met her."
Translation: he's actually bi, and just pretended he wasn't when he got older and more conservative - kind of like RDJ.

"his intense magnetism"
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
by Anonymous | reply 42 | March 5, 2018 12:03 AM |
R40 not kidding at all. It might have been a factor but there were other factors as well, Mick Ronson comes to mind. My brother bought Hunky Dory, it had absolutely nothing to do with him coming out. Kids saw him as strange rather than gay (none of us understood what bisexual was, you were gay or straight). I grew up through the whole glam rock scene in the UK, and teenage fans were not obsessed with Bowie being gay/bi.

Stereotypically r49.
Most of the bis I've met were are less flamboyant and socially engaged, but they always let the gay guy in the group know they're bi, but don't spread it around. Many of them I've met are bearded and slightly overweight hipsters.

David Bowie and Lou Reed kiss. More chemistry here than when he kissed Angie
by Anonymous | reply 62 | March 10, 2018 2:26 PM |
R15 is oddly accurate, despite his incoherence.
Bi men are usually a) magnetic personalities that everybody wants to be around; the ones who can take the “gay jokes” too far to the point where it’s suspect, or b) flighty, insecure neurotics who can’t make up their mind if they actually wanna go through with fucking a guy or not. Bi men don’t have the same transformative self-acceptance experiences that gay men do because it’s only a fraction of their sexuality. Gay men don’t have that luxury—it’s all or nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | March 10, 2018 3:16 PM |
I agree with R63. Lil Peep often made jokes about sucking dicks.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | March 10, 2018 4:57 PM |
